iPhone System Data includes "caches, logs, and other resources currently in use by the system." That's why clearing the caches on your iPhone is a good place to start. A cache is a bunch of files apps use to speed things up. For example, cached files in Safari speed up the web browser. Apps like Safari cache files so they don't need to download them over and over again.
Many apps, including Snapchat, Twitter, and TikTok have caches that you can clear to free up System Data on your iPhone.
Removing unnecessary saved files, like dictionaries, fonts, and Siri voices, will also help clear iPhone System Data.

How much storage space is “System Data” taking up on your iPhone? Don't forget to share this video with your friends!
12.57gb💀
4.94 gb
15gb, I'm Jailbroken :|
6.14 gb
It was 17GB until I went thru 16 steps. Now at 7GB. Thanks
This is hilarious… I did almost everything you said, & my system data went from 15 to 17 gbs lol.
Lol
Mine went from 11 to 12 😂
Mine went from 1 to 2.22 gb 😭
It’s at 8.65 gb now 💀
Literally a day before the unedited comment
Mine went from 13GB to 27GB
Mine went from 18 to 21
Thanks, never really thought about it that much! Went from 10.41GB to 6.05GB
Thank you for putting this video together, it was really helpful. Haha, I was kind of going crazy over how much my storage wouldn’t stop filling up despite all the photos I deleted and after following along in your video I cleared a whole 7 GB from my systems data and have enough space to take care of sorting all my memories and photos. Thanks again! Huge help.
Thanks to David and David! Useful information!
Very helpful video. My iPnone is going on 6 years old and it was limping along getting storage full messages often. Following several steps in the video, I was able to free up 25% of my overall storage. Thanks!
This worked really good for me and fantastic clearing data. I must have had a lot of things using up my storage.
Did this for my iPad and got back 2gb of space. Great. Thanks guys! Really appreciated the advice.
So much helpful ❤ Thanks buddy !
I also noticed that permanently deleting videos and photos from the recently deleted tab in gallery can clear a lot of space from system data
HEIC files are larger than what you think, hence the great relief of storage after deleting some.
THANK YOU FOR THIS INFO, THIS HELPED ME WITH SO MUCH STORAGE, I NEVER KNEW THERE WAS A RECENT DELETED PHOTO
Tnx for this great video
This is great help! Thanks guys!
Great stuff guys always great videos thank you
This really works a LOT better compared to these types of videos other content creators I have made. I must have had 3GB of Siri caches because now I have 20.1 GB of total storage used. No one else has said this
Thanks you so much
This is the only video that has actually helped me. Following this video I cleared 80gb of space. Updating my ipad is what ended up helping. Thank you
Invaluable information. Thanks! 😃👍
You guys are fantastic and with such clear presentation too.
Fron 18 GB to 6GB.. This is THE guide !!! Doing this every 3 months from now on!
You guys are awesome👍🏻. Thanks for all the reliable info😊
I always just waiting for a UA-camr to make this video thanks 🙏 I really appreciate
Finally I found your channel. It is very helpful 😊 My system data from 33.38gb down to 7.93gb 😅🎉
Love you guys that was so helpful went from 20.52gb to 2.99gb
Impressive information and guidance.
Hands down the best video on the subject.
"App Privacy Report" is super helpful for finding domains to block with local DNS profiles.
Great tips thanks! I cleared out 8 gigs in just the first few steps. I notice the system data number at the bottom didn’t change much but along the color coded bar at the top it sure did.
Thank you so much. That’s so helpful.
Nice video, chaps, thanks!
Loved it all except for Enable Devel Mode...you really didn't explain how to get to that ...or so I thought. Or perhaps my IPhone 11 doesn't have it...wasn't sure where you went to access it. Thanks for all the other great tips! Great video.
how about for macbooks? hope you can do a similar video for macbooks to clear system data
Thank you for the great tips.
Thank u so much! I was clueless about this
Thanks for the tips and suggestions. I went from 18.6 to 17.5. Not bad, huh?
I have a tip for you-when heading back to the main page of settings, press and hold, and scroll down with the same finger to settings. Instead of pressing multiple times, you just press, hold and release. CONGRATS!
Cheers
THIS WAS SO HELPFUL!! So, my iPad storage was 118 / 127 and the thing that was mostly taking up the space was system data! It took up around 70 GB, and after doing stuff from the video, my storage is now 63 / 127. Thank you :))
Thank you so much for this, so very helpful!!
Great info. Added more space to iPhone storage.
My system data was up to 40 GB 😅 and I didn’t want to reset my phone so what I did was offload frequently used apps that way I keep all my settings. I didn’t have a ton of pictures, videos, or files eating up storage but offloading a few of those frequently used apps reduced it down to 5gb of system data. Idk which app it was that was taking a lot of system data since I offloaded a bunch of apps, gave it 10 minutes then reinstalled those apps.
Nice tricks, can’t believe I was tricked😂. My system data increased from 7gb to 9gb
helped me a ton! thanks!
Thank you so much! It helps to lower my system data.
This is so great, important and helpful.🎉Thank you so much for your work, guys.😊
Thank you!! Only did the first 5 and went from 50.2 GB out of 64 to 39.7 GB!!
50?? and I thought my 30 was bad..
@@tessacalzone yeah lol before that it was at 63
Thank you very much for useful advice ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I just love this channel❤
I followed your first five steps and my system data INCREASED 2.5 GB. So thanks. :)
same😂
Same
Same lol
I have an SE2. For some reason, after accomplishing most of these changes, my system data doubled to 8.59 GB!
Mine too
I love this channel it always helps
great video! So rich in information!
My iOS 14.6 doesn't let me delete voices, there's an iCloud icon and the size, but zero clarity if the size taken on the phone or on the iCloud, swiping does nothing.
@Danny Reed Yeah that'll be it, but their video just assumed we all had all voices on our phones, you have to choose to download them in the first place! Maybe that's what the, 'I tried lots of voices' comment was about, still, not very clear.
Everything worked great except the Xcode part. I tried to do it from my DELL laptop and it didn’t work.
My phone seems to react faster, thanks! 😎
Good team work
this worked wonders for me! thanks a bunch guys
As an aspiring programmer and computer nerd, I can tell you a lot of the tips given in this video clear very small amounts of data, irrelevant amounts that barely put a dent in your storage.
And often, cache is managed automatically by the OS. The whole purpose of cache is to store constantly used or displayed data (like images and other types of frequently rotating content) so that it won’t have to constantly re-fetch that data from its original source. Do you think that a competent programmer would allow a user’s cache to keep content that simply isn’t being used? It’s going to dump it and replace it with new content along the line and a multibillion dollar company like Apple is obviously going to have people smart enough to do this. The only time cache is really beneficial to clear is when a cache-leak happens, this is where a programs cache gets clogged because the system wasn’t smart enough to see the data as junk and delete it. But on most modern programs? You don’t really have to worry about it. Unfortunately, large system data is often the result of files outside of the users full control within the walled-garden, forcing a user to factory reset to really make a difference in this data.
The problem with apple is that system date can and will take up 30 to 100gb of storage making your iPad full and no more room.
Forget this long talk man, clearing of cache is necessary. I understand you’re a programmer but do you know what it means to have an app on your phone that has taken about 7gb of your phone’s space??? Lol
@@namata305third party app cache is a different story because some apps are going to have cache-leaks and take up ridiculous amounts of storage; OS cache isn’t a big issue because apple’s developers make stable enough software and frequent cache leaks probably wouldn’t make it past iOS betas.
This video’s main guide is clearing “System data”, aka the collection of files being used by the OS that Apple keeps extremely vague to the average user. Junk app data depends on the specific app and developer to fix, the user can reinstall the app or clear its cache if the developer included the feature as a quick fix but that cache will just pile up again on future usage if the app developer doesn’t patch the cache leak.
Is the app itself takes up a lot of space, that’s the package data and it’s necessary for the app to run unless the developer optimizes their app to take up less space, if the large data is contained within “documents and data”; the situation can typically be temporarily or permanently remedied by the user with the tips mentioned above.
I'm getting small decreases in data used each step along the way, and these guys aren't informing people of the downsides at all.
This video doesn't seem like something to do to speed up your phone; it's what to do if you absolutely have no more space and need a few more GB. I stopped watching a quarter-way through, after being told to swipe each voice in Spoken Content and delete them one-by-one. I intentionally never did listen to all of them. I might have 10MB of unnecessary files there. Geesh!
@@GregConquest the biggest gripe I have with the video is that they claim they imply they’re advice is better and that many others have trash advice, and while they have some good advice here, a lot of it isn’t as effective as they paint it out to be.
And they don’t give the best variant of that advice either, for example; Clearing safari cookies and history will not only get rid of the unnecessary cookies but also sign you out of all your accounts and clear your history in the process; there’s a better way to do this that they don’t mention.
You can avoid the hassle of getting rid of your history and having to resign into all your accounts by going to safari>advance>website data and simply clearing the data you know is junk. It gives you more insight and choice on what your deciding to delete in addition to letting you know what websites spam your safari data in the first place.
Or Clearing messages, they want you to just get rid of your convos with other people, the messages themselves don’t take up much at all, the attachments are what eat up storage, the better action would be to just save the images you receive and want to keep and then delete the duplicate copy from the messages app, turn on optimized photos of photos take up too much and you have the iCloud storage to hold them.
And then there’s downright useless advice like tapping 10 times to clear App Store cache. That barely takes up anything! It’ll clear up a few megabytes but the cache will just refill with new content anyway, and as I said before, it’ll delete content it doesn’t need anymore on its own!
Overall there’s a lot of advice that could be useful if done correctly but also a lot of advice that is just a downright placebo and exists just to extend the length of the video.
The best tip was the last one and it’s a factory reset and restoring your data; this ensures built up junk will clear and the surviving data will be the most visible and relevant data. From there, take preventive measures and be more in tune with how you use your iPhone to actually learn what’s eating up space over time.
Everything was good and I was following every step… Until they told to open the multitasking interface and close apps. I then stopped and closed the video.
You guys rule. Really helpful
Thank You So Much For The Help❤
This was terrifically helpful. I followed all the steps, except the Developer and Restore suggestions, and I successfully got my System Data from 5.6G to 17.9G.
You said you got your data storage even bigger that isn’t a good thing
@@ronthorn3
Yes, it more than tripled. My first sentence was meant sarcastically.
Same here, I started out with just over 9G….. and after following all these steps EXCEPT Developer - it went up to over 11G
Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
sarcasm doesn't travel well on text 😀 the wit, more often than not, falters when clarified and results in a sarchasm
I went from 16.31 to 5.29. Thank you Davids👍🏼
Me from 9 to 12.5.6 😢
@@soyamchhetr 😮Why?? What happened??
Mine to 4 to 6 sueing them 😭 its still raising
Mine went to 5gb to 21gb what😭🤚

Fruitfully Grateful.🙏🏾 this works. Satisfactory results only.👍🏾😉
Great vid thanks!
i like my history. i forget things the phone remembers.
@Jesus is Muslim idgaf
take a flipping hike
Lol, my storage numbers went up when I tried to delete voices. Which it would not let me. Started with 7.26 gig and afterwards now 8.1 gig.😢
lmao same
That's because apple is playing you . Android we don't have this problem. Apple when you delete thing it adds it to other system storage
you guys rlly helped me!
thank you for this video, it really helps molwer my system data
Bruh I went from 24.79GB to 25.19GB 💀💀💀
so basically just don't use your phone... :D
Thank you!
Thank you so much you just gained your self a sub
So I am finding out that a lot of this does not apply to me being an iPhone 8+ user. I don't have most of these features.
Same, I got stuck with half, but hey! half is half and better than nothing :D
I have iPhone 8 his do I know if it’s plus or not?
Hack no 5: somehow I am not able to delete the voices. Swipping doesn't trigger the delete button. Any idea?
Nor am I!
Same here
You can only delete downloaded voices. You can see which voices aren’t downloaded by the cloud icon on the right with a down facing arrow.
@@ZyliceLiddell I ended up downloading a few voices unintentionally while trying to do above.
Same, unable to delete the voices and unintentionally changing the selected voice. Lol
Wow the clear app store cache 😮
This is so helpful
System takes 16 gb of storage
And ios 17 whopping 10.9 gb
Howw ?? How do i clear it.
You can long press and select settings..😂 I think apple should revamp the settings app..it’s all over the place now..
Thank You Gentlemen 💝🙏
I will save this video and keep doing this ❤
What’s a number that’s okay for system data? Mines 12.23. I feel like that’s a good number to be at.
I’ve 20 😭
Same to me 12gb didn’t think of went into developer mode cuz i that has to do with installing beta software into our phone which i am not ok with 😂
Mine over 100 gigs on my ipad
@@User-le1hs bro i got 31 💀
I have deleted 30gb of data on my phone from photos, but photos app is still occupying 30gb space.
Last month I had 113gb system data on phone, and had to do a factory reset, but it’s not possible to do a reset every other month.
Reinstall iOS using iTunes on computer
thank you!
awesome!!!
do NOT listen to these people past step 1, everything but that step made mr storage go up
U messed up
Thank you so much for helping! My Gb went from 17GB to 5.66GB!

Thanks guys just cleared a bunch of storage on my iPhone
Thanks guys u are amazing ❤❤❤ love from India. And thank u so much for your help u both of u 💜💜💜💜
Thank you for your informative video. I am surprised why apple doesn’t provide clear catche option while Android provides for clear system catche as well as for each app also.
