I just bought a small Moringa plant in Florida and brought it home yesterday. Now I know how to water, prune and transplant thanks to this video! Thank you so much!!
For the colder climates, after you cut back your tree for the winter you can protect it by slipping a foam "Pool Noodle" or pick up a foam water pipe insulator from hardware store, Lowes, Home Depot. They come with different size center holes or you can slit them down the middle and put several together. Plumbing stores would also carry the pipe insulation.
Oh bless you, I have been looking for a complete guide to growing moringa trees. I can grow from seed, but cannot get the seedlings to get longer than 15" to 20", before they fall over. Was able to locate a nursery down in L.A., CA that had three moringa trees 18" last June 2023, and they are all 6 feet, as well as one 10 foot tree sent from Florida that I ordered in April 2023 that was delivered when it was 3.5 feet in height feet. I am in zone 9 in Southern part of the San Joaquin Valley in CA. They are all in large pots, and would live to plant them in ground next spring 2024, but we do get a few frost days anytime in from Dec thru March. All depends on the weather manipulation.😉 We normal have if we are allowed😉 12 inches of rain a year, and were in a drought for about 7 yrs, but last to years we have had 3x plus rainfall the past two years, though we do have plenty of time to dry out in between the extra rains. Question: Do yiu think I should not chace acing the trees in ground because if the unpredictable weather?
I would transfer it in a pot and keep it in it for a few years and see how it grows and if it meets out my need for consumption. If you decide to plant in ground, then mix some river sand in the soil so that excessive rain does not harm the tree. It can tolerate some period of drought and during frost days you can protect it as shown in this video ua-cam.com/video/JChOVdDR8SI/v-deo.html
Thank you for a very good video. Your instructions are the best I have seen. I have ordered 250 seeds to arrive in early march and I will follow your advice. 🙏

Sir, Thankyou for this video,I am from Meghalaya I have three moringa in a pot 2 of them have grown to 2ft and a half can I prune them now (oct)and can I repot them in this month?please let me know.
You can cut it in Oct, but the new growth will emerge in next Spring. You can repot then now, no problem. You can replant the cuttings in free-draining soil at a warm place, and keep the soil damp. The cuttings should regrow into new plants. You may keep one moringa as it is after repotting for now and prune it in next Spring and use the cut stems for growing new plants. Good luck.
My morning tree leaves have turning yellow overnight. I believe it’s because of recent rains. Can it be saved? What should I do. There are about three branches left. It’s 5 feet tall. Should I prune it?
@@jbryant9759 Yes, yellowing of moringa leaves us due to excess water. You may move or cover the plant during rain. This video may help ua-cam.com/video/qG_6YJR_4XI/v-deo.html

Open up the soil around the trunk, up to 2 feet from trunk and add some manure in soil. Pruning all the branches to one-third may trigger new growth in next Spring to Summer.
I started out growing moringa in a pot. I'm glad I put it in the ground. I do have a problem with freezing every year, but it grows 10 ft, from the ground up, every year and it get stronger the next year.....in the pot, it grew very weakly, not worth it.

Which variety is best for home gardening ? ODC PKM etc
Both varieties are good, but ODC trees are more drought tolerant and flower within 3-4 months of sowing and pods are harvestable in 6 months.

Appears some insect problem at that point. I would cut the tree below that point. This will encourage growth of multiple branches.
Every time I water them their 😊😊 leaves go yellow
Yelling of leaves is due to overwatering or underwater ingredients. Water only when top 1 inch soil is dry.
