  • Wondering how to grow moringa tree, also known as drum stick, tree of life, horse radish tree, etc?. Wonder no more!, in this video I will give you the secret to grow Moringa. Best thing of all, it's FREE!. I will also show you the special technique we use to propagate this plant at the nursery. Watch the video to find out :).
    Moringa (Moringa oleifera) Growing Tips:
    Sun: Full sun
    Winter: Protect from frost. Cold hardy to high teens.
    Growth Structure: Upright growth. It can be pruned to promote lower branching.
    Root system: Tap root
    Pollination/Flowering: Self-fertile, it flowers early summer. Pods are ready early fall.
    Watering: Follow our 50% rule for container plants. In ground, once tree is established, deep water.
    Fertilization: Anything works.
    Container Growing: Short term only. Due to the tap root system, this tree doesn't do well in a container long term.
    Personal Growing Tips: Watch video to find out.

    I ask a villager in Malaysia if I can get a seedling to grow Moringa.
    He told me just a branch is enough.
    The cut a finger thick branch about a foot long, and told me to stick it onto the ground.
    Yup it grew into a tree in my backyard in a couple of months and was soon sprouting pods.
    Its grow fast.

    Great information. I live in north Texas 1 mile from the red river near Wichita Falls. It gets so hot here and yet so cold. I have some seeds I am going to try direct in the soil. Your information stopped me from planting in pots like other vegetables. Thank you so much for the TRUTH.
    May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you.

    Hehe.. all Filipino knows Moringa tree aka Malunggay 😁. It’s part of our landscape. Food and medicine. It’s a natural antibiotic. I remember when I was young everytime I get a cut my grandmother would scrape the branch outer skin. Squeezed the green juice on my wound to prevent infection 😁

    I've been growing Moringa Trees for over 15 years. I love the Moringa trees. They have so many health benefits. I've found that this tree will grow in just about any soil. The best way to grow themis to put the seeds directly in the ground and you will have an 8 to 9 feet tall tree in one year, as long as it gets direct sunlight.

    I knew nothing about growing this thing, and it ended up 2 stories high and more than 10feet wide in the branches. Each branch was as thick as 5'' across where I cut them.
    I've cut it right back about 5 times and each time it grew thicker and taller😅

    Good info to grow Moringa! I learned alot! I'm in San Jose, CA and the first year, I grew 100 seedlings in ground and it died in winter as it gets down to 28F. Luckily some had roots so it surprised me and few grew back. It took a few years before the trunk was stable above ground and now it appears to be stable after six years. Now it's at least 15 ft tall so far, but I want volume,not height. I get good leaves, now need wider canopy and growing for drumsticks! I have two plants in pots from 6 years ago and it is still dies back yearly and isw only 1 foot tall max. Thanks!!!

    I bought a moringa tree at a flea market in a gallon pot for eight dollars and I planted it,
    and it sure did grow.
    once it seem to have
    died from the cold and yet another time a tree man sawed it off! 😢But it grew back!😅. I have cut it back many times so it’s only about eight or 10 feet tall and three trunks. I’ve use the leaves many times for tea. I am trying to grow a new tree from one of the stocks of the tree and little green things are coming out of it so I’m glad I got more tips here thank you very much.

It's 17 inches tall and I was planning to transplant outside when it outgrows this new pot. If I do this in this summer heat, will I have to bring it outdoors a little at a time to get acclimated to the heat, or can it go from 78 degrees right out into the 100+ temperatures and sunlight?

    Next, prune once 3-4 feet to get more leaves. Good video.

    Is it the ground freezing that kills the tree in winter?? Could you mulch with a wide circle of deep leaves and other stuff to keep the ground from freezing so bad?? Guess I will find out!! I figured since the root went straight down, it might be possible for it to survive the cold.

    • @qctropicals
      @qctropicals  Рік тому +3

      Yes root grows straight down. But if the top dies off, it doesn't matter how deep below ground the roots goes, it will all die off. As long as you keep the soil from freezing, you should be ok.

    🤦 I killed many seedlings by watering from the top... Sigh. Now I know.
    Thank You. I have more seedlings right now I just sprouted. Hopefully I dont mess it up.

    My moringa only grow single branch high up to 4 meter with very small canopy on the top. It has been there for two years. Is it to cut at a desired height and it will grow more branches after that?

      @qctropicals  8 місяців тому

      yes you need to prune to get more branching.

      @@qctropicals Thank you very much. If I want to grow the top part that is cut off, can I put it into the soil straight away or propagate root growth before cutting?

      @@ErnieSesameStreet They take easy from cuttings but you need heat. Too late in the season for cuttings.

    It's not Moranga it's Mor RIN GA
    Everything else he said is correct. Mine didn't like a pot, went into the ground and went mad within months. Plant out as soon as you have full sun days. Water, I water mine rarely, they like a good drink only if it days of no water above say 45 degree as in Perth WA. I've never really given any fertlizer, but it will take a bit if you are growing with other plants.

    Must be why I failed all my attempts, because it's hot here during the afternoon but really cold and humid at night 😢
    It's also rainy season 😞

    Hey Alan! I put 5 seedlings outside this morning before the sun came up. It’s very hot here! 108 degrees right now! I moved them into the shade around 12pm. Think putting them in the sun for short periods every day is a good idea?

    • @qctropicals
      @qctropicals  11 місяців тому +1

      moringa is bulletproof. Full sun unless it had been shaded, then acclimate. It takes about a week to 2 weeks.

      Same as seedlings. Heat is the key, so start them when it's HOT.
