If they had a virtue then the perfect name for it would've been "synchronised" or "Unified", essentially both sisters momentarily put aside their squabble and start to work together.
I think that would make the character even better. The could have a reduced Virtue % to balance things out, and/or reduced Virtue time since Virtues now wear off after some time.
Or they could also add a unique affliction to balance it where you can no longer swap sisters and sometimes they just swap as the turn signifying that they are fighting over the body.
I love that regardless of who's body it "actually" is, the Warrior doesn't about control 99% of the time, but only gets stressed when they're fighting because the Scholar is doing it wrong lmao
"Fight properly goddamnit! Why are you in control you can't fight for shit!" "Could you please silence yourself for a brief moment, I am trying to work here."
I don’t mind cliche stuff nor do I mind edgy stuff as darkest dungeon is pretty edgy. But being edgy isn’t bad nor are cliches, it’s just a matter of how ell done they are.
I adore the fact that they are practically opposites, and it makes positioning with them sometimes difficult seeing as you cannot use possession out of combat. This is one incredible mod!
After playing with this class for quite a while now, coming back to this video I have some tips that weren't mentioned: 1) Running a Lamia or a Houndmaster with this class to manage the stress really helps. The affliction is **really really bad**, so keeping the stress in check is very important. 2) I like playing a class with a move forward attack in rank 1 (MAA, HWMN, etc...) and the Sisters in rank 2. That way, you can spam Crimson Dance. 3) An extra marking class also really helps - An Occultist as a healer is ideal to set up huge crits with Tresspass.
The theme of Marvin Seo's characters seems to be "oh this inflicts stress on self/party so it's ok that it's more powerful than vanilla" And then those characters also get huge stress heals.
Just want to throw this out there: in the lore, the Scholar used a knife to go kill her sister, the Warrior used poison to help her kill off the soldiers. So maybe the form that uses the blade is actually the Scholar, and the form that doesn't is really the Warrior? PLOT TWIST!
You know, the sisters killing each other, but not knowing who won, reminds me of the Biker and Richard fight from Hotline Miami-one was high and other was insane.
I'm not using mods yet but this looks really cool. I love the idea of power at a cost, and the need to balance things out in order to use the character properly. Most mod characters in any game are ridiculously overpowered just for the sake of it, because many modders think that more power = better, which is not true.
Didn't know Marven helped with the color of Madness dlc. That's pretty neato :3 Gotta play it sometime, and when/if I get into PC gaming I'll download his mod
Starts Riposte for 3 turns. You just used a action, the heros turn ends and the timer ticks. Riposte for 2 turns. Your Heros turn is here. You change to warrior. You just used a action, the heros turn ends and the timer ticks. Riposte for 1 turns. NOW YOU CAN ACTUALLY RIPOSTE WITHOUT DEBUFF For a total of 4 enemy turns (if you face 4 enemeys and havent managed to kill anyone this far into the battle) If you ask me, the Battle part of the Battle is over before this ripost mechanic does anything.
Her stress self-inducement can be very unwieldy especially detrimental in long-term dungeons magnified by stress rebuffs. I also don't like having control over the class taken away from you at a early-time. But I guess the gimmick is that you're pose to take this class as two classes that compliment each other.
Thank you for doing this. a lot of people are having trouble figuring her out so this might help some of them!. What I been doing myself is depending on the situation = Weed out + Riposte then switch to warrior (or... Riposte then switch to warrior) again. this is depending on the situation and enemies. using any of these though.. will make Warrior skills use minimal stress (1 point of stress) and I cannot recommend enough Miller's pipe trinket from CoM dlc on her. with each kill she does, it will remove 2 points of stress from her. pair that with Traspass and she will get a huge stress heal + blight on all enemies for some cheap dmg.
Thanks very much. :) I've had a ton of requests/questions about them as well this week. I think that's a pretty great setup. As long as you're swapping within a couple actions, you can really adapt them quite well.
In my opinion. Scolar mode doesn't do much except ripost which can benefit her Warrior sister. Warrior mode on the otherhand is like Highwayman and Shieldbreaker mash into one. She have a strong breakguard attack, moderate high breed attack and self heal. This class is solid jack-of-all-trade choice for every situation. Just don't forget to bring Jester along to buff crit and stress heal. Edit: Warrior have 100 percents crit on marked target. That's mean she can syncro with other marker class to maximize her dammage. While her crit damage are not much compare to other but this damage can make a sure kill the spell caster or mortally wound them.
peter, I generally feel similar in that you get a lot more output from her Warrior form. In the right moment, the Scholar's utility really shines, but I find myself swapping to Warrior and wanting to stay there in a lot of cases.
I really like this class - it rewards a lot of thought as to what you do with her at the moment. Then again, being able to spam crimson dance with another shuffler is pretty nuts. I tried to use her as a stress healer at first and she was kind of useless.
If the phrasing "one was brutally murdered," then I would assume it was the warrior who survived. But, if she killed her, and didn't kill the warriors there after that, then it would be the scholar.
Thank you for taking the time to make such a great video. I loved the other classes but as I got into this one I never fully understood the goal with her (them). It is really beautifully designed but does require some insight to achieve a good result. All about balance. The analogy of the scales is the best way to interpret this class mod. Thanks.
So after watching the vid yesterday I am now very confident with the sisters. Its so nice to be leveling one because there really isn't a group she doesn't fit well with honestly. The only thing I would add (which you did mention briefly in the vid) is avoid stacking multiple +stress trinkets on your characters partying along with her as well as herself. As long as you aren't spending the more than 2 rounds in her forms in a row, stress is easily managed as you would with any other class. This is truly a carefully thought out class mod and I feel is really balanced along with any of the other classes.
I'm starting to use her and I think I like her a lot with grave robber because they can shuffle around and always be effective and they get bonus damage off each other's kits. Pretty good combo but I'll be trying others.
The hardest part about characters who move is that quite a few characters are quite susceptible to being moved themselves. Anyhow thanks for the guide, I didn't understand how to play her much at all. Not as hard as some of the Profligates or some Exaelus classes... But where the overall strategy didn't quite unfold infront of me. Now I just have to learn how to play the Seraph well (Which apparently just marking people isn't enough, that just makes her do "passable" damage).
this mod class is also a breath of fresh air from the other "look my enmorous boobs, I just made this class to have a naked boob lady in it" and have more immersive and actually cool classes in the game
While the "boob lady" classes certainly aren't for everyone and may break immersion, some of them are genuinely well-balanced or interest in mechanics.
Have you noticed that in the comic strip one sister has horns while the other has flowers in her hair? But both ghosts have the flowers for some reason...
why dont u make a Class Mod Tierlist? You have pretty well knowledge about all, you can guide us, new people to try them, which to tend to and which to stay away (at least point out op or imbalanced ones)
Thanks for explaining the comics, I was a bit confused with their story. You mentioned she has her own journal pages, I've played quite a few dungeons with her already but never found any pages?
She makes more of a mess than she actually helps, specially when you equip your party with strong +stress trinkets. So either you get this strong damage dealer in the party while making the party weak by having to add stress healer and weaker trinkets or you use her as the stress healer making her clean her own mess or you just remove her and make a stronger and more cohesive party. Not even great at the early game as you don't need to pay for stress healing at town if you play smart unless you happen to bring her.
Really awesome guides,i know this might sound odd but could you do one of these for the daughters of the four pack? its not as known as other mods but its 4 cool classes
My first time using them ended up in tragedy. Right off the bat, she got targeted off the by stress attacks, and well, round 3 they got afflicted. Later on in the mission, they suffered a heart attack, and the warrior killed them. so that was an experience
I used to hate this Class, but now im loving It. Playing her in second row with an Occultist in the party while carrying Dismas's Head and Ancestor's Candle is just OP. Oppening up with Crimson Dance, then critting for 30+ armor piercing dmg garanteed, everyone while the Occultist marks everyone. And if stress gets too high i can take a couple of turns on her stress heal. Such a weird class to get a hang of, but so powerful after It.
Hey! Great guide, I’m just a little confused as some one the trinkets for them give + damage in Scholar form? I’m not quite sure what that’s meant to accomplish
Thanks very much, DarkSoul! I didn't include it in the video, but I looted a Haunting Scroll which buffs the stress healing and Blight chance of the Sisters, which is definitely about making the Scholar more effective. Perhaps that's what you're talking about? :)
Disagree on trinkets. Sure, accuracy is nice, and I would definitely slot a focus ring in the absence of accuracy quirks, I think it's more important to buff your damage output as much as possible, at the expense of everything else, as a Riposte class that ignores armor and has a 100% crit chance. Even with +stress trinkets, if necessary. The self-stress is entirely negated by Possession's stress heal at later ranks, as the heal scales with level and the ability stress doesn't. If you kill the backliners in 1-3 turns (which is what you want to do anyway), you'll at most receive 2-5 stress from the fight, which is easily overtaken by Blossom.
I think you're pretty right on here. The examples I use in the video were a direct quote and recommendation from Marvin, which I suspect was purely to hit on the idea that adding +stress trinkets wasn't a great idea, to highlight the functionality of her heal mechanics, but also to emphasize that, rather than stacking -stress trinkets, think about buffing her output/efficacy. If managed well, I think you can definitely get away with a lot more to enhance her output, and as you point out, most of the stress management then lands on the rest of the party from efficient possessions. :)
I don't know if I'm just bad but I used her on my zero torchlight run and she just stresses so fast and stresses the rest of the party so fast she just is not viable kinda like the Thrall :/
So she's basically useless because she stresses not only herself out, but everyone else at the same time. She has no good stress recovery to balance this out, like the Abomnination does.
I played with the sisters briefly when they were releases but couldn't really find a good party composition that handles both her stress and her constant shuffling. Any recommendations?
I love The Sisters, but didn't really get that I should be transforming often so stressed my party the fuck out. I need my stage coach to bring them back to me after taking a low level team to fight the Miller and having 3/4 wiped.
Moders asistong studio in development of new dlc... Thats how you should do it, reward and motivate modders, not sue nor punish them. I AM LOOKING AT (not only) YOU ROCKSTAR GAMES!!!
She's strong, but I don't think she's strong enough to justify the stress. You need a dedicated stress healer, so you're essentially down to 3 heroes. And I don't think she's good enough to make up for that.
She is complicated, sure, but just plain bad. Why do I want a character who constantly stresses out my group? Yeah, I can bring stress healers to help with that but wouldn't it be better if I didn't have that problem to begin with? I really like her design and gameplay but I feel she doesn't bring enough to warrant an extra 8-12 stress every time its her turn. Maybe I just haven't found how to use her properly so feel free to give me tips and pointers but I am pretty underwhelmed.
this class is so broken and op that even its mark target doesnt just mark a target but also destealths and bligts with same hitchance as noxious blast without any target / spot restrictions stress ramp is "balanced" with all the possibilitys to relieve stress it becomes meaningless without those pesky +20-40 stress attacks of the creatures
Eduardo Díaz I think she's overloaded, personally. Being able to both ignore protection and apply a bleed on 2 ranks is kind of absurd, and IMO it shouldn't ignore protection. Her stress might be hard to manage, but some of the rarer trinkets make it much easier to manage, and the fact it doesn't scale up makes it very easy to manage with things like Inspiring Tune or her own stress heal. Difficulty of use is not the same thing as balanced.
Quick question: Marvin uploaded a mod called "Journal Entries". The description is that if we uninstall any of his other mods we need to install this to fix any crashes involving the Ancestor Statue. So, the question is what exactly is happening?. Is this mod a fix that we need to keep permanently from there on once we remove Marvin's other mods?. What is happening when we remove them?. An answer would be greatly appreciated as I am interested in getting Marvin's stuff, but not at the cost of it breaking something within the game.
Or they could also add a unique affliction to balance it where you can no longer swap sisters and sometimes they just swap as the turn signifying that they are fighting over the body.
man this is really cool sounding
I just saw this mod and that's what I think too, no reason for it be virtueless but I guess marvin wanted it be hard 🤷
maybe it could work like a super mode, being really strong, but they gain a ton of extra stress, so they will always end up reverting to neutral
I find it funny that the scholar spirit has the "I am so done with this crap" look
I love that regardless of who's body it "actually" is, the Warrior doesn't about control 99% of the time, but only gets stressed when they're fighting because the Scholar is doing it wrong lmao

I love their chemistry. You can tell that the warrior really cares for her sister and though the scholar detests her wanton bloodlust, she cares too.

Hey sisters!
Still waiting for that Thrall Skin
I love The Sisters, but didn't really get that I should be transforming often so stressed my party the fuck out. I need my stage coach to bring them back to me after taking a low level team to fight the Miller and having 3/4 wiped.
Oof! Yes, my first attempt at them was pretty ugly, as well. They're a new idea with a lot of complexity, and beautifully done. :)
Moders asistong studio in development of new dlc...
Thats how you should do it, reward and motivate modders, not sue nor punish them.
I AM LOOKING AT (not only) YOU ROCKSTAR GAMES!!!
I'd pay for this if it would be an actually DLC
Thx for the video as much the character is interesting its not meant for my play style.
I swear they better add mods to DD on iOS
She's strong, but I don't think she's strong enough to justify the stress. You need a dedicated stress healer, so you're essentially down to 3 heroes. And I don't think she's good enough to make up for that.
2:52 / The Sisters
They seem incredibly broken. Cool character design though.
Played the class, Now consumes mark on trespass, balances it out but also makes the stress damage she deals not worth
Pretty underwhelming now
Hey soul sister!~🎶
I personally feel that this class is more harm then good
She's so hard to use. Seems fun though
UGH! KOI ITSU WA
STANDO TSUKAI
this class is so broken and op that even its mark target doesnt just mark a target but also destealths and bligts with same hitchance as noxious blast without any target / spot restrictions
stress ramp is "balanced" with all the possibilitys to relieve stress it becomes meaningless without those pesky +20-40 stress attacks of the creatures
And this is a bad thing why?
Another OP mod
Well, we're just a couple weeks since release and we've already seen a few iterations. Give it a moment. :)
Not really. She has powerful abilities, but if you don't know what you're doing stress will wreck your party.
Eduardo Díaz can confirm, it took a while to learn how to manage her stress and how to play her
Eduardo Díaz I think she's overloaded, personally.
I really want a pc just for modding this game
Im broke though 😅😅
Quick question: Marvin uploaded a mod called "Journal Entries". The description is that if we uninstall any of his other mods we need to install this to fix any crashes involving the Ancestor Statue. So, the question is what exactly is happening?. Is this mod a fix that we need to keep permanently from there on once we remove Marvin's other mods?. What is happening when we remove them?.
An answer would be greatly appreciated as I am interested in getting Marvin's stuff, but not at the cost of it breaking something within the game.
