I remember fishing piers in San Francisco at night in the late seventies, I was young and it was a long time ago, but I clearly remember being out there, all of us basically fishing cut bait on the bottom, nothing happening except bull heads, and then all of a sudden 5 guys would hook up with really big fish, I think like 30 lbs. fish on each rod. So I always imagined a large school of big stripers?
When the hatcheries do there smolt plants I've caught many big stripers in one spot. Only because of all the smolts they plant. But normal day to day most big stripers are loners.
I really enjoy all your video's. You do a great job in explaining your topic. Do you have a preference in electric downriggers between Cannon or Scotty? I would like to get two for my boat. I presently have Cannon manual downriggers on the boat now.
Cannon electric DR are fully electric. They motor down and come up until cable breaks ground plane shuts off automatically. Scotty is a more manual electric. Have to put a stopper bead where you want it to stop. and it free falls with a clutch when letting it down. Cannon has a circuit that emits half volt off cable too. Prevents a hot boat.
Thank you for sharing sir! just curious if you’ve caught black bass on the 11in squaw fish or the 6in bluegill you were throwing. I would imagine the bluegill would work for black bass.
I’m so happy you made this, I was really upset with myself for missing this show from you when I specifically came here to watch it… but I got caught up in a long line at a booth and time slipped away. Thanks so much! (I’m the guy you helped with the info on dialing in my active target, thanks for that too!)

Alan, You are a gift from God to Norcal fisherman.
Just trying to help you catch more fish
Great details Alan!!! Sheds more light on swimbait fishing than I've ever seen before. Thanks!!!
Glad you enjoyed it and most of the guys who know don't say much lol
@@AlanFong Absolutely true!!!
Attended the show but was unable to catch your presentation. Thanks for posting it here. 👍
Our pleasure! Next Monday will be part 2 on ISE show
Man that make so much sense. I wish I was there to see the whole thing.
Episode 2 coming out this Monday
Great video and information. Thanks. I'm a fly tier, and creating big flies that have neutral density and are castable is challenging.
You can do it! And get great results

Back in the 1960’s and early 1970’s it wasn’t unusual to catch a 3 fish limit of 20-25 pounders , especially when using bullheads .
Best video you've made...you better put some locked cabinets in the shop for $200 lures...
FW has one thats a $1000 lol and there some from $200- $400 crazy thats why I make a lot of my own

Hi Alan, What knot do you use for glide bait?
Thanks, Dan
Double trilene knot, I use for everything
