Yes starting this year some lakes are requiring someone on the boat has to have a boater license or you can't launch the boat!

No it's still to muddy in Sherman and guys are catching on the San Joaquin side as it's a little cleaner.

@@AlanFong ok thanks. we are planning to fish this Thur so if you hear that it's gotten better please let me know, but for now we'll plan to launch at Russo's and fish in that area

Yes I saw that and he will pay dearly. But I can feel the pain these commercial fisherman have because they have boat payments like our house payment. Our state closes seasons on these guys and they have no income. Especially the salmon closure as there are lots salmon and how they get there counts are fish returning back to the hatchery. But years ago when they trucked all the smolts to Rio Vista and the bay and released them so many of those fish couldn't find their way back.

If you're just fishing the delta you don't have to do anything. But I always pull drain plug, drain live wells and lower my engine to drain water out of the lower unit. I do this every time I go fishing in lakes or delta. It's a habit and I never forget my drain plug.

I've fished out of a Boston Whaler for over forty years in the bay and ocean. My dad ran a 22' Montauk and it was pretty dry for an open boat. Lots fishing room but had to dress warm n rain gear. One of the safest boats out there. We used to run all the way to Pacifica and back into the beach for stripers in 4-8 ft water. Had some great days catching lots stripers n halibut n salmon doing this.

Santa Cruz had some rough seas last week breaking part of the pier off. The pier is closed right now until they check it out. I've fished off that pier hundreds of time when I was younger. I have a cousin who lives there and I would spend the summer there fishing. That pier has been there for over seventy years.

Folsom is clear but really low. Sac river is muddy but the SJ River is clear going towards Stockton.

Hogan was on the list to close last week. I've noticed that sometimes they say they're closed up but are still open. I would call the lake the day before to make sure they're open.

I belive the commercial pots/traps can n r left over 24 hrs ... the hoops have to be checked within 24 hrs or the crabs climb out after eating the bait or grabbing what they can. Forces ppl to check their hoops every few hours compared to traps/pots left out in the ocean for day(s).

Yes you're right about what's on the end of the rope! These guys who make up these rules need to think about what they're doing. It's like they're trying to frustrate you so you don't want to mess with it n not go??? As long as their whales out there will be no commercial season. Seems like they don't care about people making a living.

Until the weather got bad there was guys doing well on yellow tail and albacore right out of Bodega Bay. Weather has put a stop to it as it's really rough out there. Were learning more n more about how many tuna our around this area thru the fall n winter.

Headed that way with all the restrictions seems like they don't want you to hunt or fish.

Fish finders have been around for eighty years and they're a tool to help locate them. Many people have fish finders and still can't catch them. There are so many variables to fishing like rods n reels, lures, weather conditions etc!!!!!

Rod a parabotic bend in a 7' M action. Depending on weight of jig also. If spooning for stripers I use a 7'6" MH in moderate action.

I don't think it will hurt the motor as it probably takes about few minutes.

@AlanFong rubber impellers at 120 degrees water temps are definitely gonna change and soften and there fore causing more motors to burn up or more lower unit impellers replacement but how will u know if the impeller goes soft or breaks down
