Last year I stuck to nothing except TKs K9s a couple 250s and a couple bullshooters. Broke my pb 5 times. Biggest was 6 13. Learned so much about bass and these baits.
When it comes to netting bass Mike Gilbert is probably the best I’ve ever seen. It just looks effortless in his videos, just second nature. Would love to see a new video from him. I was throwing a Trick Shad a week or so ago, favorite lake come to a small lay down with a 3’x3’ patch of grass floating. Throw out about 6’ past it and as I come up to it I do a snap, snap, snap, and glide and just as it was slowing down on the glide a little 4 pounder darts out a drills it.!! It’s just so awesome when the fish read the script and everything works like you hope.!! Thanks .!!
Mistake - guys tossing baits, getting a follow, and casting back over and over again. I believe Working Class Zero did a video on this mistake. "Traing fish to be uncatchable" or something along those lines. If you get a follow, then a nibble, then nothing, move on. Those fish follow baits and see a boat and think "nope, now I know it's fake!" Quit killing spots. If it doesn't bite the first cast or 2, it's not going to. Move. On. Great video btw! Lots of important stuff here!!
I got a fury 806 for my under 4oz baits and most treble baits. Have a guide select custom black on the way for my heavier baits. Hope it's a good one. Almost got genesis 3 but went guide select because the double footed guides to the tip. Hope it doesn't make it heavy but needed something for my 250s or huge beast hook baits. The 250 aren't light. That 806 barely lobs them.
What do you think about using braid instead of split rings to prevent them getting leverage and throwing the bait? I just don’t trust it when compared to steel.
@@nickkerr5714 well then a bass sure isn’t going to break it if it’s done correctly. Tuna are insane fighters. I know Savage Gear makes treble hooks with it already attached to them.
It works if you change it after every fish. Hardware is disposable tuna fishing and you'll never reuse braid. But if you want to do this on swimbaits you need to change that braid super regularly.
If done right, they are actually pretty strong, I use to use them on some of my baits and never had an issue, it’s just a hassle to keep tying them. I change hooks far too often
I got my first swimbait setup so i wanted to ask you about what gets you the most bites on a 8-10 inch magdraft like where you fish it or how you position yourself to get bites?
Sounds Good ! Can that rod throw the Raid G dash?? crazy man .. My biggest fish of the year came on second cast I ever made on the tiny klash at a irrigation pond ! I've fished clear lake this year and the Delta too 🤣
My experience with landing nets and treble hook baits has not been good. Getting my lures unstuck has been no fun at all. I have a rubber coated net, but that doesn't matter. Maybe an all rubber one?
I believe I’m using an all rubber net and haven’t had too much issue with hooks in the net. The problem always comes from them twisting too much in the net😂
This summer has been excellent for me fishing big swimbaits. Sense mid June I've broken my PB 3 times starting with an 8.6. Then in August I caught a 9.3. Last Friday morning I caught a 10.2 & actually I'm about 99% sure that fish was actually a 11.5! Because few weeks ago for whatever reason I was checking my digital scale for accuracy with 5 & 10 lb weights. It comes up 1.2 lbs light every time, I checked it Friday evening it still reads the same. I don't know how long it's been off before that? My other pbs may have been 1.2 heavier also? Any recommendations on a good ACCURATE digital scale? I'm in need badly! Besides all of those fish I've also caught a 8.05 - 7.4. -6.1. - 5.9. - 5.8 - 5.4 - 5.1 & more 4's than I can count. All between mid June & now. Best sut I've had yet!
The Rapala Touch Screen Scale 50lb or kastking fish scale with the orange grippers is a good one as well and the Catfish Scale | Digital 110lb by whisker seeker are just as good.
@@crazybassfisher Thanks, I know I can't believe how awesome it's been. If it wasn't for all the pictures I'm not sure I wouldn't just end up thinking it was a few good dreams. I'm out in the kayak all the time. Found a handful of good areas because of being on water & exploring so much. Thanks for all tips. I've definitely learned a lot from your vids!
My biggest thing is remembering to slow down and to pay attention to how I am working a bait when I get bit. I’m awful at remembering how I was working a bait when I get bit.
Trying to net a fish tail first. If you have multiple treble hooks and that fish surges right when you get it in the net things can go to shit in the blink of an eye.
#6 don’t say “omg bro it’s a giant” for every fish that you hook, #7 don’t burn a bait really fast a large fish is fat and lazy and are not going to chase down a big fish they want an easy quick meal that exerts less energy #8 don’t stick your butt out while fighting a fish , #9 there is magic bait if you throw something long enough it will get bit , #10 just because a bait is expensive doesn’t mean it’s superior to a less expensive bait
#7 is definitely not 100%. Most of the time, sure. But there are times the BIG ones want it fast. Ever seen a trout skippin across the water? They're not slow.
Another big mistake. New guys Buying a bunch of baits and never focusing on learning them each properly.
I resemble that statement
That’s a huge one, see it time and time again for sure!
I am that guy. I’ve spent a ton on custom glide baits.

That’s a huge one, I think guys do it subconsciously too. Will definitely ruin spots or just teach fish
Thanks
Great info. Noise is a big mistake I see often.
Noise is definitely overlooked, being as stealthy as possible is pretty important in my own fishing
New sub, loved the video with Matt. What knot do you tie most often on big baits?
Have u used the trapper tackle 3x ewg trebles?
Great video nice tips just getting into swim baiting here in Michigan I have A lot to learn
Good luck up there with them! You might tap into some huge potential up there!
That's crazy, my name is Phoenix. I was like damn, we're homies and I didn't even know it! Awesome!
A lot of great advice here! Thanks for taking the time to make these videos to help others 🫡

Geoff is one cool 😎 cat! He looks like he might be a jazz musician by night!!
Can you please help Ben and his cool factor!!!
Ben is a lost cause 😂😂
Would a Tiny Klash pair up well with a Mark 56?
The proper angle on a hook set, going straight up, sideways, pull away, direction of rod tip in general.
That’s an underrated one for sure! Proper hook set!
Remember to have awesome fun casting those big baits on super cool rods and reels.
Yup! Enjoy fishing what you have cause catching is such a small part of the whole thing!
What do you think about using braid instead of split rings to prevent them getting leverage and throwing the bait? I just don’t trust it when compared to steel.
It works for 300 lb bluefin tuna

@@txg1275 I don’t see many guys doing it. Some of the bass pros do it on jerkbaits to keep them from getting leverage.

Yep, I'm a re-tieing fool! Not a waste of time. It a headache & heartache saver!
Same, I retie so much😂

I fished mine either on the bottom or tight to docks and bluff walls. Grass lines and ripping through grass is also a great way to get bites
Thanks.

Thanks for the tips !
Thanks for watching my man🙏
Caught my first glide bait fish this weekend on an S-Waver 168. Just over three pounds but that shit was exhilarating!
Hell yeah! That’s awesome dude! Many more to come for sure!
what do you think of the diawa xxh for a softbait rod (treble/jig hooks) and the diawa heavy 2-8 for a wakebaits?
I haven’t actually ever gotten my hands on one of those rods. I’m not sure how fast or soft those rods are.
what is your fav rod for the Tiny Flash???
It’s probably a LDC Workshop MH rod, the bait feels great on that rod
Sounds Good ! Can that rod throw the Raid G dash?? crazy man .. My biggest fish of the year came on second cast I ever made on the tiny klash at a irrigation pond ! I've fished clear lake this year and the Delta too 🤣
Any recommendations for a budget swimbait combo?
Depends on size of baits, but dobyns, irods, or okumas would be great for rods and reel wise, tatula, curados, 13 fishing make good reels as well

If you can only have one tiny klash, what color would it be?
I really like the mystic weed color but if I could only have one, it would be the Joythief color
I learned the hard way about stock hooks on baits 🤦🏽♂️ missed an 8 plus on a bait I will not name lol
It’s devastating man! Most stock hooks are brutal!

The bubba scale is a good one, brecknell is another good one. They cost more than the rapala ones but I think they last longer and are more accurate
The patience for making the best cast is hard for me. But definitely crosses over to every time and bait not just swimbaits.
Making the right cast is so crucial I feel, I always tell people to try and wait to make that cast haha
@@crazybassfisher and to practice accuracy to be able to make it.
Buying the Temu knock off Tiny Klash 😀. Big mistake!
😂😂

My biggest thing is remembering to slow down and to pay attention to how I am working a bait when I get bit. I’m awful at remembering how I was working a bait when I get bit.
Haha in the heat of the moment, getting that bite definitely drowns out every rational thought😂

Yup, waiting for the perfect time to net the fish is crucial!
I love when I forget to set the drag and can't get any line in, oooooof.
Oof, having loose drag has definitely cost me a lot of fish😂
I like to preach “ it takes two minutes to retie a lure or wait 2-5 days to get a new one” 🤷
