Francine Maisler was the casting director for the first season, and afterwards that role was filled by Avy Kaufman. So I guess we can thank Francine for the Roys.
@@TheAndrewj96When you realize the bodies of work that the casting directors on this show have, it makes a lot of sense why the acting is fantastic. 😂 Francine Maisler does casting for Noah Baumbach (Marriage Story), Steve McQueen (12 Years A Slave), Alejandro Gonzalez Inarittu (Birdman) and Denis Villenueve (Dune). Avy Kaufman did Tár, Mare of Easttown and Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, which has the most ridiculously large cast I have ever seen in my life. Douglas Aibel is Wes Anderson's casting director. They got the best of the best and it really shows with Succession's ensemble.
Sarah’s acting during the phone scene is honestly some of the best I’ve ever witnessed. That is truly the reaction of someone who’s losing a parent. Her world is falling apart out of nowhere, and there’s nothing she can do about it. Obviously Jeremy and Kieran are phenomenal, too, but Sarah really stands out to me here. Give her an Emmy already, goddammit.
The way she says "oh hey, dad, hello" just sounded so ridiculous and genuine. I've sounded exactly like that when talking to a relative who was dying unexpectedly in front of me.
Ok so we have - Hiding from her mom at her mom's wedding - Telling her husband she doesn't love him - Telling her cousin it's ridiculous a girl he's interested in would reciprocate - Offering her husband for federal prison - Rallies her siblings to run a coup on her dad - Quits her job with her boss in the car Absolute legend
I have developed a regular correspondence with Sarah Snook and I expect we will soon be in a dating relationship. Okay, our letters really go through her lawyer. Something about a restraining order but I'll deal with that later.
If Shiv tells him that she doesn't love him, it's to make him understand that she can't respect him if he doesn't respect himself by being submissive. That's why she will change her mind about him after he rebels by betraying her.And letting himself be dominated by her less and less in the last season. He became more attractive to Shiv and Tom realized it. "TOM WAMBSGANS FINALLY MADE ME FEEL SOMETHING !" "YOU'VE FALLEN IN LOVE FINALLY" Shiv and Tom kept their wedding rings all the season 4. Except Tom who doesn't have it at the start of e1 but has it at the end of it. It's Shiv the "girl inside" Waystar who established the Kill list for Matsson on wich there's no "Tom of Siobban". In their last phone call Tom agrees to an amicable divorce (Czecoslovakia->Velvet Divorce). Shiv will never follow up. She offers to him a "real relationship" at a time when she doesn't know that Tom wil be CEO. In the car, when they both know that it's thanks to Shiv's vote that he became CEO, she "congratulates" him because she won marital tussle and he "deserves" her. End, that's why he responds with false modesty "Oh no no". Tom is gloating inside, because he has won everything he wanted from the beginning : Shiv + CEO + Money +Child. Shiv holds back crying as she's in shock what happened earlier. End of SCRIPT BOOK for Shiv and Tom in the car : An accomodation, an equilibrium, that could last with a certain stabilty, proxy wars and detentes for many years to come..nothing needy from either side. Amazing actress, an absolutely god-awful character. Played the entitled Nepo brat to an absolute tee, Logan was 40 steps ahead at every moment. What a show this was!
Kind of funny, cause I love the character and when I watch Snook with all respect I think, Umm she' not as cool as Shiv. So it means that Snook is Such A Great actress
Sarah is lovely and the most different from her character, the other actors seem a lot like their characters so with Sarah Snook you can really appreciate her acting as she's totally different from Shiv, I think she's gonna get that Emmy.
@@ororomunroe4055well Kieran Culkin definitely has always had that “you’re successful but not as famous as your brother” hanging over him his whole life, so he’s really perfect for Roman. And Jeremy Strong is that kind of weird method actor who stays in character until the final shot, so obviously his post-episode commentary will be weird. And then Nicholas Braun is… we’ll he’s just as awkward as Greg IRL.
I hated her so badly after that vote in the series finale, she could’ve been the head of ATN and Pierce but instead chose to threw it all away just because of her pride to see Ken be CEO, now she’ll be in a subservient position with Tom. pride can destroy everything, happiness, relationships, opportunities
Been binging the show, almost done with season 4. I always get the feeling that the writers think that the average viewer likes Shiv. She's probably my least favorite main character. My favorites are Tom and Logan
Yeah, how dare skyler not love that her dying husband spent the last years of his life completely ruining the lives of everyone around him? What an unreasonable bitch!
Whoever cast these actors needs the highest accolade.
For real. Succession has to be one of the most well-cast TV shows ever. Right up there with Better Call Saul and Atlanta

They kinda casted themselves
Only complaint is that this could easily be an hour long, because every line she says is an unhinged banger
She’s literally Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girl boss but I still love her for it.
Shiv girlbosses too close to the sun and I love her for it
Her trip on the stairs with her heels looked real. Like ... it was a blooper and they just stayed in character.
