Honestly, the reason gears and gasoline has a place in my heart is cause it’s beautifully shot as well as informative! Tall Ben, hope you have a great season ahead, Short Ben, we missed you .
I have no idea why other car channels have way more subscribers with way less cinematography and car related education. Eg. B is for built, rich rebuilds, SamCrac, tavarish among others.
The only thing I don't quite agree is that cost isn't the only reason stock cars don't come with Clutch based LSDs. I recently put a 2way in my drift car. Those LSDs aren't made for the average daily driver. I got treated clutch disks, so they are quieter than most, but based on how I apply throttle, it still clunks and burns rubber. In wet conditions, it can be dangerous to drive. It also requires regular maintenance with a similar oil change interval as engine oil. Compared to my gear based sti, the sti is a brainless LSD that won't affect daily driving and requires no real maintenance.
I’ve found that experts in something can explain the different aspects of their field/expertise so well that a 14 year old could understand it. When you truly know the ins and outs of what you’re doing, you can break it down to its simplest components and build it back up to help a smooth brain understand not only what’s what, but why
@@FrickenHamster also planetary diffs (relatives to early quattro systems) are better in loose surface when you don't actually want to go full throttle and EVO is knwn from rallying on loose surfeces, not on tracks
It’s nice to see EVO still being used on track. Sorta miss the few I’ve owned. Team RIP Engineering rocks. I’ve had them do various work years and years ago.
the "how are things with my 400whp Evo" is and always will be my favourite video you guys have made and the video before that everything had the perfect videography and music made me excited to look at my car the same way as when I first sat in it at home after buying it. I've not felt that high since watched that video 10+ times easily
2nd time listening to Jon talk. The way he explains the mechanics of transmissions and differentials…. Why would anyone want to skip ahead. Those 6 or so minutes are pure gold.
That’s my amazing Son Jon - As Car and Driver reporter who came to his shop said -Jon Knows more about Transmissions then a human should know And that was At least 10 years ago -a teacher as well❤
I kinda understood how diffs work... Now I know! Like an automotive Ted Talk, great to hear from knowledgeable people who can explain complexity simply.
Never expected to hear Chopin's Revolutionary Etude in a Gears anf Gasoline video, but it happened :) Amazing production quality, keep up the good work! Cheers from Hungary! :)
I’ve found the Wavetrac lsd has been the greatest thing since sliced bread. It works even when I lift a tire without having to tap the breaks to lock up the lsd
this video had a different feel than all the previous ones... huge production quality increase even Ben's talks had new vibe, not just the experts... keep it up! :) awesome
im new to this car community and watching your videos make me really happy and curious to know more about cars. keep up the good content! sending love from malaysia :)
How do you guys not have 1Million subscribers yet?!?! I absolutely love your videos and watch every one of them. They are fun, informative, and just all around good. Keep up the amazing work!
I remember my first drive in my 02' WRX with a 07' STi 6speed. First corner I took under power felt amazing. Totaly transformed the car for two reasons. 2nd gear in the WRX 5 speed is too tall. On slow speed corners engine is so low in rev range it just bogs on corner exit plus the front is a open diff. 2nd gear on a STi trans is perfect for low speed corners. It keeps the car higher in the rev range and with the addition of a LSD it just grips and goes. Best modification made.
The amount of detail provided in this video was a great way for my Sunday morning. More of these types of videos please including the Civic. I love seeing the workshop detail and explanations to their reasons. Excellent video!!
I don't know how you guys are past 1 mil subs. Been watching you since you guys were under 100k subs, when Whiteboy Ben was working on the Probe. Keep it up!
The dude explaining lsd’s did a great job dumbing down how lsd’s work! What a cool dude, you can tell he would be the type of teacher or professor that people learn better from since he just knows how to not talk like a robot
That tech talk was masterful! I do my own rear gears on my rear wheel drive vehicles. My mustang has a Detroit tru-trac LSD which is helical gears. I wasn't exactly sure how it worked, but i knew i wanted it. Mainly cause there's no clutches to wear out and it seems more robust. Maybe a good clutch set up is just as good. I would have liked to hear them talk a little bit more about the 2 way LSD and the 3 way LSD and how they work. 💪
Quality aaafff content! no long intro, no “whasup guys welcome back to my channel my name is ….” no ums or ah, no begging for smash the like comment and subscribe. Wow it’s refreshing. I instantly subbed and bell’d. Keep up the great work!
These videos are so top notch, i love these informational videos.. especially how these guys explain things.. even a dumb dumb like me can understand 😂 thats how you know someone knows what their talking about
Correction: the Evo9 is the best car you’ve ever owned until you bought a MR2 Spyder 😂
I stand corrected
Nailed it lol
Honda Insight
Yes dude. I have evo s2k, and mr2! Zzw30 best

Its honestly better than a lot of car television shows and that’s what gets me coming back every time.
@@solaryellowis3007 completely agree

How Jon was able to explain differentials so that even a smooth brain like me can understand, I'll never be able to know. Love ya work
I’m going to use the word “smooth brain 🧠 “ for the rest of my life thank you kind sir 😂
He's built my Evo three times! I track mine as well

the whole segment in the TRE shop was amazing! beautifully shot with every detail coming together tied in with the background music felt so cool.
I would honestly watch an hour+ long video of Jon Ripple talking about transmissions and differentials.
Just go pay him a visit some time haha.
I’m Jon Ripples Mom We are amazed as well - but not really it all started with Tinker Toy -Wooden toy set making gears ❤
The amounts of skilled hand machine work was artistry.
Walnut or Dry ice blasting the under carriage would be a nice touch 👌🏻 but super knowledgeable people with lots of insight

Love the indepth look and detail. Awesome
Nobody: Man looks at diff as if it were a baby.
"Isn't it a beaut" 😆
Chopin was a great choice. Watching them work was like watching a master crafter jeweler. So amazing.
Dude in the red hat with the glasses, is the 🐐. He needs his own channel. That differential walkthrough was A class.

What a perfect time for this video to come out. Just in time for me to watch after destroying my Evo 8 on track...
I kinda understood how diffs work... Now I know! Like an automotive Ted Talk, great to hear from knowledgeable people who can explain complexity simply.
Jon knows about differentials. It's so good to listen a master speaking his art.
I reeeally like how the editor works with music and sounds. Shout out to that guy!
I never thought I needed a complex piano piece during a LSD workshop. You guys are amazing, aways pushing the bar up!
Out off all YT channels I mostly look forward to G&G uploads… easily my favorite channel
Advance Auto parts really do you guys a massive favour with their sponsorship 👍👍👍good on them.,...I'd use them if they had branches in the U.K.
Never expected to hear Chopin's Revolutionary Etude in a Gears anf Gasoline video, but it happened :) Amazing production quality, keep up the good work! Cheers from Hungary! :)
Really enjoying how they explain everything
If you skip Jon you're missing out big time. Anyone can learn from this man, homies an automotive savant
Hes just a knowledge savant. Hell give you a 30 min speech on how the pyramids were built by aliens. Ask me how i know.
john talks differentials was the best part of the video
Love this type of vids with more technical content. The explanation of the diferent types of differentials was amazing 👏
The music in the "Doing the Work" part was a perfect fit. Reminds me of the Gran Turismo 5 opening movie where they show all steps building a car.
It's a classical music piece from Chopin called the Revolutionary Etude.
@@RealPunkie thank you
You guys are one of the reason why my Saturday mornings are as meaningful as they are.

I love when you guys get technical with your vids and show how these shops improve car parts and performance.
