I have been looking for a video like this for forever. I got a motor built that was supposed to be capable of 500hp+ but my 2 barrel tbi has been restricting its power to maybe 300. I just have never been able to find someone to fully explain what goes where and how not to ruin my daily. You have saved me man 👍
Glad I could help
Congrats on 3000 subscribers.
Lots of great stuff in this video.
If any of your viewers want to change a TBI motor to a carb setup Edelbrock makes an intake for that. Part number is 2104.
Some of my customers over the years have asked for a sock style screen to go at the bottom of a carburetor style fuel tank sending unit assembly. I have found that some of the later model fuel injection style fuel screens will fit securely.
You have a fantastic UA-cam channel!
Thanks for your efforts!!
That’s buddy
thanks for theinfo about to do a cam carb swap on my 88 siverado
I problem. Glad I could help
Lots of great info on that intake conversion. Glad to see how great that water catchment system is working, that will make things a lot better around the shop. Take it easy on that back, been down that road. Enjoyed the video, take care!
Thank you Junior. Take care!
Awesome video man Iv been trying to find a good video for a while on this topic. Thanks a ton
Thanks for watching
I always wondered about how the wiring went if someone wanted to do that change over, great content. Hope your back gets better soon!!!!
Thank you sir
I got a 1998 lifted 4 x 4 on 37s extended cab short bed 5.7 L Vortec I'm currently using some of the computer it is currently controlling my fuel pump my distributor crank sensor and cam sensor coil pack an O2 sensors and my 4L 80e transmission while running high-rise manifold Holley 650 fuel pressure regulator with return line and my truck runs like a beast also new timing chain mild stage 2 cam I'm still running my O2 sensors no catalytic converters stock exhaust manifolds width 3 inch to a Flowmaster dumped at the rear axle
just swapped out the v6 in my 89 5spd for a 96 vortec 350 i pulled from a wrecked truck. i put a square bore manifold for vortec heads on it and a carb / hei. best thing i did to that truck. thanks for the videos
Yes sir. Thank you for watching
That's a sweet shop with that patio
Thank you
Real good work on your project trucks and video
Thank you
interesting video thanks glad you got some rain in your tank
Thank you
Before I LS swapped my c10 I took off the quadrajet and went with a Edelbrock Avs2 650cfm 1906. Was really good carb. I had a 84 with a 87 engine that had been carb swapped too.
Yes, the edelbrock are really good carbs. I run them alot
After 86 on c10 they changed it to r10/20/30… those engines have tbi if they run on gas. Long story short those tanks have baffles on left and right sides to keep those in-tank fuel ⛽️ pumps primed. Great video for the relay bc there’s not a single video with info on providing power to those fuel pumps.
Thank you
Great coverage on this!
Thanks
Another great video. I know it's easier said than done, but try to get some rest and take care of your back,
Thank you Bud.
So I put a new harness on my truck and would like to delete the old OEM harness and get rid of it since it’s basically junk. Would me going carbureted help me get rid of the rats nest of a harness? The new harness is basically a new body harness but I would need to splice into the new one to run it. Also have a trans controller since I have an 4L60E. So not worried about that either.
It would help
Throttle Body Injection
TBI (Throttle Body Injection) is a type of fuel injection system used in automotive engines1. It has one or two fuel injectors mounted in a throttle body, delivering fuel into the air above the throttle plates. In a vehicle crash, loose objects can become projectiles, causing TBIs when they collide with a person's head2
Ok.
I have a 1979 Impala I have a TBI converted over to carb . The guys that done it for me install electric fuel pump just wondering was that necessary? Or could I just keep the OEM fuel pump inside the tank?
You could keep the factory one in the tank but you have to run a fuel pressure regulator
Could you possibly show us what you did to get fuel from the old lines to the carburetor? I didn't see that anywhere in the video. I know you put in a mechanical fuel pump. Did you have to remove the old fuel pump from the tank or what?
There is a video in the rumrunner playlist where I modify a fuel tank in a obs to go to a carb
my cousin is giving me a cast iron 4 barrel intake and Quadrajet freebie! my Question will I have to angle drill the 4 center holes? I am putting on my 88 Scottsdale 5.7 litre tbi? Thanks again for the video.Yelm,WA
You can angle drill the center holes but it’s really hard to get them to seal.
Love the videos brother I really do you do very good work in I like working on the old Chevys myself but I have a question for you what size is that garage can you tell me that I'd really appreciate you brother thank you
30x40 inside. And another almost 20ft under roof outside
@@HarmonGarage thanks brother
No problem
Would like to see you do the tbi to carb conversion on a '93 to '96 with the 4l60e trans.
If one comes thru someday I will do it.
ua-cam.com/video/J0kmFOOiX-U/v-deo.html
That couldn’t have been running right with those center bolts being that loose! I would prefer the carb over the tbi anyways!
It was running really hot, and rough. Had the wrong style spark plugs in it. Huge vacuum leaks, etc
So I have a 95 chevy 350, with a 4l80e transmission, I did a carb swap on it, did all the wiring like you said, got it running. But now it's not wanting to shift right. Skips gears. What am I missing?
That’s an electronically controlled transmission. If you switch to carb you have to get a stand alone transmission controller for the trans
You can always swap the tranny for a 700 r4
No you do not you don't have to buy that stand-alone b******* my truck shifts just fine only thing I replace was my intake manifold put a 650 Holley carb fuel pressure regulator and the rest of the is running off the computer so I don't have a whole lot of timing to play with it's already preset
Tps sensor
If I was doing this on an 88 with the 700r4 would I just need a new kick down cable for it to work correctly?
You should be able to use the same tv cable.
@@HarmonGarage Should I run a torque converter lock up kit? thank you so much for your help
Your torque converter lock up should still work. If not watch my video on putting a 700r4 in the white squarebody and I show how to hook up the lockup
@@HarmonGarage Thank you so much!
Glad I could help
What's the best carburetor for 4.3 TBI conversion I was thinking a Rochester two barrel and a HEI is there a good adapter plate that you know of
Not to go from tbi to carburetor. But you can buy a carburetor intake to do the swap
@@HarmonGarage ok thanks I seen the intake didn't want 4 bbl would like it simple and good on gas those electronics give me a lot of problems broke down 4 times
The intake came from what vehicle the tbi intake boots are different from regular intake
This was a non tbi engine. Somebody put an older sbc in the truck with the tbi intake and the bolts being different was most of the problem
So what do you take the fuel pump out the tank ....👀
So the mechanical pump doesn’t have to pull fuel thru it
I just did 96 to 98 vortec engine swap to TBI
That’s cool
doesent this swap have an effect on the 4l60e transmission?
This truck had a th350. It had been previously swapped
Did this truck have a TPS on it for the electronic over drive transmission the rest of what you just done is understandable but what is needed to modify for the TPS hook up?
This truck did not have a 4l60. I didn’t have to do anything for the trans
@@HarmonGarage I appreciate your response about the TPS hook up and after researching about it this afternoon I think I have figured out what I have to do
Good deal. Best of luck with your project
@@HarmonGarage I appreciate it man it's been a long while since I have had a project I'm really enjoying getting greasy again and having fun good luck with your projects from the video it looks like you have a couple
Thank you
👍
👍
The gray ghost maybe?
Not bad
if shes a good girl GRACIE PERHAPS?
Not a bad thought
Distributor is likely 180 out
Could be
Oh the troubles of going behind someone else’s (good enough) jobs
Yes sir
@@HarmonGarage best thing I saw was a exhaust manifold welded onto the head to stop a leak haha
I’ve seen that before also
👍
