Thank you! I know that they made a carburetor version of the 4.3 that came in some Marine applications. Might want to look into that, imagine an intake manifold will be the hardest part on that truck
Nice! I'm looking at doing this with my 2000 Celica. Your fuel pump is designed to operate at 12v with an internal pressure at 35ish psi. When you restrict the flow after the fact, you may be putting undo pressure on the pump. As a result, this pump won't survive long. Instead, run a PWM signal to the pump. It'll still take the 12 volts, but the output pump pressure is vastly reduced. Depending on the PWM pulse, it reduces how long the pump is actually turned on. Kind of like turning a light on and off really fast. ua-cam.com/video/YmPziPfaByw/v-deo.html. The reduced pressure will save your pump giving it many more years.

my one 1987 caught on fire too and now i got all my connectors burnt and with the prices of harnesses on one of those and availability as well im thinking to go to carb too !!! I’m in Europ and here is much more difficult to get parts for this. So basically when ill do this i won need the loom any more ??? what did you do with yours pls ??? Thanks
@@milanko33 you won't need any of the wires coming through the firewall directly behind the motor. That's all injection stuff.
@@BestDamnShopAround thanks man but i still need to find all the stuff for the swap and that is quite a challenging here but your video is amazing thanks for doing what you do
Can I use a stock fuel pump on the block ? No wiring!!
@@smokeydabeecharlescoleman8365 you can if the block is drilled for it and the camshaft has a fuel pump lobe! The later fuel injector 350s don't have either, just check to see which one you have!
i have 89camero, 305 ,
700r4 putting 93 350 into, wanted to put carb on ,what all needs to be done, can't I just swap them out
Did I miss something . . . where did the fuel regulator get mounted? Would be nice to have seen how you did that, as well as took care of the 'excess wiring' that come along with the TBI (MAP, IAC, etc).
You're right, I forgot to show that part. I mounted it on the firewall behind the passenger side cylinder head with the supplied hardware.
Besides placement of the fuel regulator, it would have been nice to all special fuel line connections you used and pointed out.
@deangebhardt1981 thank you for the input! I'll be sure to be more thorough on my next video!
I'm in a similar situation w/86 E_Quad,EST& CPU. Had got luc😢 17:32 ky when t rebuild carb kit was short the TPS. An older auto supply shop gentleman was knowledgeable enough to tell me that I would've had to be lucky to get it separately and then gave me a phone# for THE carburetor man in the entire So. California San Gabriel valley. Who had retired from the business. He turned out to have the part and was also a Champion flat- track motorcycle racer who owned a Henderson 4 cylinder inline motorcycle from1912, It was a runner! Wish I could get you his phone number, you would have liked how much he can share with anyone that asked.
Did you have to get a special intake to replace the tbi? I hear the bolts are different.
Yessir!
Nice bro i have a 2 point fuel injector honda crx and im ready to put a 32/36 Weber on and i was wondering if i can used the original fuel pump and put a fuel regulator the Weber run around 2.5 to 3.0 psi plus my ECM obdo i know the distributor will work fine timing wise but i wonder if i can used the oem fuel pump let me know thanks if know what i can do ok will appreciate you help.If know i will run a mazda rx7 fuel pump from 1980 they are carb and psi is around 4.5 psi i will appreciate you help and opinion thanks again

Does the factory tac still work doing this?

I'm about to comvert my 94 Chevy Cheyenne today but what I didn't realize was that my transmission has wiring that goes directly to the electrical computer box... its a 2x2 3500 ... What would be the alternative for transmission wiring?
I'm not 100% sure, sorry! I'm sure the wiring is throttle position but I'm not positive who makes an adapter.
Outta curiosity, does this setup still need the ecu to run the fuel pump or are you running entirely without ecu input?
@@zacharyfisher4812 running it on separate dedicated circuit.
@@BestDamnShopAround can you show how you ran your own circuit?
Instead of dealing with a malfunctioning OEM throttle body, it might have been a better choice for a Holly sniper.
Holly sniper is a great unit but out of my budget at this time. To be honest I don't know how long this drivetrain will be in this truck as well 😊
Curious, when u say ur going to clean up the wiring later, how exactly r u going to do it? Are u going to follow the wires for the tbi stuff back to the ecu and snip em there?
Exactly what I plan to do, sorry for not specifying!
@@BestDamnShopAround no problem, I'm just trying to figure out what I can eliminate
So you dont need to use an electric fuel pump?
@@aliaswizard6963 Yes, you'll either need to run an inline electric fuel pump which I do not recommend or an in tank pump like the 87 trucks
Like the video friend! No b.s. good stuff
Thank you sir!
Which Transmission do you have. If it's the 700R4 like my 89 K2500 is what do I do with the TPS. I know I need to adjust the TV Cable on the Trans but the TPS has me stumped. Do I just not use the TPS or do I have to hook it up to the Carb.
My truck has a th400. You can use a kit called TV made ez for the 700r4
@BestDamnShopAround Thanks but I might just go ahead and get a t400.

My 1994 Chev Step Van dies ne day, I put it in my mechnica, and they spent some time with it, and let me know it's not going to be economical to get it going, (they know my style and budget)
My van is supposed t e throttle body, but they impleud it was full fuel injection.
If it IS??? Does anyone know??
If it is full fuel injection can it be converted to carburetor in this same manner???
Yes, it should be fuel injected. I personally never done a carburetor conversion on a step van but it should be the same basic process as a pickup truck, it should share the same 350 cubic inch small block
Awesome vid. Answered all questions I had about my build. Only thing I'm concerned about is, will the stock fuel pump keep up with a 375 hp 350 with a 750 carb?
In my opinion it would, but I've never pushed the limits of a stock fuel pump.
How will all this work if you have a 4l60e
You'll have to get an independent transmission controller.
What model is the intake I have a 89 k1500 and wanted to swap it
I tell the part number in the video, about the 4 minutes 55 second mark
Nice to take fenders off to make work easy, smart man!

aren't all TBI systems run on 9-13 psi ?
I talked to several people about the conversation and they all said it's higher. But honestly I didn't check it to be sure
I might be doing this my gmc just started sputtering o n way home.
It's not too bad!
For what your doing it makes sense but for people who want to put in a new tbi system on howards fuel injection and affordable fuel injection make systems that are customized to your car or truck.
@@andrewstout5651 interesting! I'll have to look that up!
Great video! I have a 2001 s10 4.3. No one can get it to start. A little either and it runs great from then on. New computer and a bunch of other stuff! Tired of fooling with it
Thank you! I know that they made a carburetor version of the 4.3 that came in some Marine applications. Might want to look into that, imagine an intake manifold will be the hardest part on that truck
now to learn how to use an 4l80le
@@marineswarm I've been told the stand alone trans controllers work well!
But your going backwards to carb.😅
Runs better tho
I'll take a carb over efi any day
Back to basics!
Sorry didn’t listen long enough.
No worries!

But that's all anyone does with these.

80% of the problems will be in the wiring
@@orionmyth I can see that!
@BestDamnShopAround I was quoting the power probe guy he seems pretty smart 😎
Going the wrong way. Shoulda gone from TBI to MPFI. Modern gas just doesn’t work with carburetors anymore.
Multi port is definitely better but out of the budget for this project. I've had pretty good luck with modern fuel in carburetor vehicles, but I love in Georgia and I believe we have pretty good fuel here.
Works just fine with carburetors. I'm on my 3rd engine in my 86 GMC and still using the original Qjet.
@@troymecey haven't had a problem either!
That’s the dumbest thing I’ve read in along time 🤣🤣
If you have a tbi you can literally only upgrade I don't think you have had as many problems as the rest of us😂
What you do is just put a mechanical fuel pump or a little electric one on the frame and call it a day and you know how to mess with any of this crap
This motor isn't drilled for a mechanical fuel pump, and the electric inline pumps I've had bad luck with. I opted to use an 87 model tank, sending unit, pump, and a fuel pressure regulator
