I've been obsessed with Star Wars Galaxy's Edge lightsabers and I thought it was finally time to build my own... to bad I don't live near the Disney parks. The next best thing was to construct my own lightsaber using parts I found at Home Depot. This is a budget friendly alternative to the $200 lightsabers from Savi's Workshop. It’s a hard pick because while I really like the level of detail and authentic look of Ben’s I think I have to vote Stanley because he went the extra mile to make the blade and to give it his own personal made at Home Depot feel.

When you build your own lightsaber, you have a connection with it. I also went in without any real vision. My lightsaber went through many different iterations before I had my final product. Mine is largely made from a scrap metal dumpster, too. The only money I spent was on leather wrap, adhesives, and lead acid solder.
Exactly! A lot of people keep asking me for a parts list and they’re missing the point. It’s all about creativity and adding your own style

I just checked, comparing sabers from the two eras, pretty similar, just different designs.
i mean yea kinda, im a precuel fan but they just look to ''abstract'', not that i like the sequels but rey's and kylo's lightsaber look like a piece of tech, but the precuel ones look more toy like, not all of them just mostly
@produccionesluxy yeah that’s kind of my feeling towards the prequel hilts, they look too over designed. Too shiny and machined while the original and sequel sabers look more hand made (cause the original sabers were built with found parts)

I made a hilt from Home Depot a few months ago and it was soo much fun to build!! I used a sink drain pipe and some random scrap pieces as well as an old crystal curtain rod knob that was laying around the house which looks awesome!

Those turned out really awesome. I honestly like Ben's, but I am a fan of Luke's ROTJ Lightsaber. It would be really awesome to see a parts list for both of these lightsabers. Thank you for sharing, look forward to seeing future videos.
This inspired me to look into other builds and someone painted their hilt by dabbing black and brown paint and smeared the 2 colors together to give it a rusty type look. That looked interesting.
Yeah i definitely should have done something to it. Just leaves room for improvement on the next build!

Thanks Corey! The Stan man used a simple pvc pipe and a flashlight to get the effect. A lot of people suggested we do a more step-by-step process so that’s exactly what I did in our latest lightsaber building video

I've often thought about doing this but I don't think the hardware shops we have here would be as good as home depot. And your saber is best it looks more like a jedi one then the other. I went for the same kind of emitter as yours when I was doing my savis build

Crazy as it sounds I'd go for the prop hilt route because the blade irl in my opinion makes it feel like a toy (I have a force fx Kenobi saber so I know). The only blade I'd like is a real functioning one, not that it'll happen anytime soon lel
100% agree! The blades feel like a toy. Fun to smack around but a nice metal hilt looks better on the shelf haha

At least the prequels brought the best Star Wars media of all time, like The Clone Wars, and games like the original Battlefront 2 and Star Wars Republic Commando (which he probably has no idea of since he most likely started liking Star Wars after Disney got their SJW hands on it.)

i'm not really complaining it was still as absolutely amazing video i just wanted to say that the jedi's in the prequals cleaned their lightsabers regularly but jedi everywhere else after never really had time so their lightsabers got beaten up but still an amazing vid and i really liked it thanks for the content! 👍

No sorry... 1. That defeats the entire purpose of being creative and coming up with your own design and 2. We literally found these parts ourselves, it’s not like we made a shopping list. We just happened to see this junk at Home Depot

If you grab some 1$ pool noodles from Wal-Mart, they fit snugly over 1/2in PVC and work wonderfully to turn model lightsabers into nerf swords. The only problem is finding a way to design the saber so that the blades can be removed when you want while staying solidly in place when in use.

This was so cool! It's something I really want to try now. I'm not really savvy when it comes to parts and tools though, so do you have any advice for someome who would want to make their own lightsaber like this who doesn't have much experience with DIY stuff? (Also I really enjoyed Ben's lightsaber because it looks better design wise.)

Sorry there is no specific parts list/formula for this build.. These were all just parts we found and put together. Half the fun is creating your own not trying to replicate ours :)
Ben's is the best because he had the most realistic lightsaber, even if Stanley's has a blade.
For D-ring hangers you don't have to go to Disney. In fact, you can probably find what you need at Home Depot by the key cutter. It's a key ring belt clip that's a strip of metal folded over on itself twice like an S. One side hangs from your belt and the other side accepts your D-ring. Also, if you can reconfigure your hilt so it's hollow and accepts a blade, you can get DIY electronic kits to put inside. Check out some BYO Lightsaber vids to see how to do it. Good job, both of you. There are elements that I like of each, so I declare a tie. :D

Hilt wise Ben is better, it’s weathered look makes it look like it’s been through battles, and looks like it’s strong like a Jedi. Stanley’s is good the hilts body isn’t the best but it’s still awesome how he incorporated a blade using a flashlight to make it light up, so well done both of you.

Well there is a big difference between building your own and buying a replica.. a replica would be a recreation of a hilt seen in the movies.. going this route, you’re making up your own
