That feeling is when you’ve discovered a fold in space time, when a song from 40 years ago sounds like yesterday and time dissolves away. It’s spiritual.
Here's a Nancy Wilson guitar word for you: Master. Also, thanks to you sir for picking up these legends when we fade away. Carry on and enjoy them as much as we did and still do. Ann is in her 70's and can still SANG❤
One of my all time favorites! I hadn't seen this version, it always amazes me when studio and live sound almost alike. Nancy shines in this track, love her.
Its why i come to you reactors.. I know how i felt when i first heard this song...just on radio! No VH1 or MTV yet. If you didnt have ticket money, you were SOL!. But you still could still feel it deeply in your soul!. Now we have it for our eye candy and can watch it with you and feel it all over again.
Everything is real here. There’s no corrections and auto tuning or anything like that. This is pure raw talent and the 70s is full of it. I wish you were there! I’m glad you can enjoy it now. It was an awesome time. Live performances were really sweet.
My heart aches to be back in the day where I'm sitting in my duster listening to heart trying to decide between going to class or to stay in my car and finding somewhere else to go to continue listening to these girls.
Crazy on You is classic rock at its finest. Saw Heart live at the Cal Jam 2 in Ontario Ca. in 1978. The Wilson sisters could rock with the best of them for sure. Thanks for the reaction.
Salvo, you need to do that entire Dreamboat Annie album!! You will not regret it whatsoever!! The Wilson sisters & bandmates were an absolute force! Ann's voice, Nancy's expert guitar chops...it was a complete package!
Nancy is truly an amazing guitar goddess and Ann’s piercing vocals that are still just as banging in 2022 as they were in 1978 just blows my mind!!!! I saw them in 1988 & they were killer!!!! ☮️
While the track is a story from Ann Wilson's history, it has become very much Nancy Wilson's signature song because of the acoustic guitar mastery she displays in the introduction. I saw them live on the Dog & Butterfly tour in 1978. They were (and still have been in the 2000s) a fantastic live show. While they have been icons for women in rock, they were legends in the Seattle music scene, so much so that they were seen as heroes for the rising grunge bands of the 90s that came from that area. Members of Alice in Chains have performed with them over the years.
Chris Cornell absolutely loved them. So do Jerry Cantrell and Mike Inez of Alice in Chains. In fact Mike played bass for Heart for about 6 years while Alice was on hiatus.
Nancy is playing an "Ovation" acoustic/electric in the opening. I have one. The nice thing about them is you can play it like any acoustic, but you can also plug it into an amp to rock out. Great guitar.
Real musicians doing unforgettable songs. Ahhhhh...my wayward youth...❤🔥Magic Man was released in 76 (I was just 19)! A very respectful reaction, glad you loved it too.
As you noted, we are lucky that this performance was recorded and preserved so future generations are able to enjoy and see this amazing exemplary performance from 70s.
Yes! This brought tears to my eyes. I sang this song with my little nameless garage band as a young teen in the late 70s. They were ROCKER CHICKS like no one else. Heart was everything. Now PLEASE react to the whole album. Dreamboat Annie is of one piece. You can’t take it apart.
Hey, brother... Never apologise for going back and replaying a piece of a song so you can really hear and appreciate it. Sometimes it takes more than one listening to soak it all in. Its nothing that thousands of us haven't done before when listening to these classics. We want to hear those bits again too! It just means that "you get it" and frankly when people gloss over the brilliant bits without recognition, its almost an insult to the artist. Keep up the great work.
You mentioned that it is so cool to be able to "...travel back to the past..." I first saw Heart in 1978...in Seattle...on New Year's Eve. Sammy Hagar opened. Can you imagine??? When I watch videos like this the years fall away and I become "there" again. Great memories sometimes need reinforcement... especially at my age 😂
I was rockin' out to Heart in 76 at 9 years old. I was a huge Kiss fan at that age, but i always found different albums to listen to from family laying around. I'd put on a record and put on these giant headphones and explore the album cover while listening. It was a simpler time and a better time if you ask me.
I grew up during this time period and we were spoiled for choice for great music back then. Unfortunately I never saw Heart live but I did see Led Zeppelin amongst other bands. It was great! Cheers 🇨🇦
Ann and Nancy Wilson are legends. Floor Jansen's voice has been compared by many to Ann's powerful and beautiful woman-in-charge style and talent. Nancy, meanwhile, is legendary in her own right for her guitar prowess, good looks, and energetic style of showmanship. She was one of our signature lead customers to endorse our Ovation Roundback guitar that was originally invented and manufactured at our company. Our CEO, who incidentally was also the inventor of our U.S. Navy Seasprite helicopter, was once asked in a televised interview by Aviation Week & Space Technology Magazine how did a military helicopter company ever get involved in making guitars. Without skipping a beat, he answered because guitars and helicopters are really the same thing at their essence. They are both machines designed to control vibrations in a certain way and make them do what you want them to do. Pretty good analogy and an interesting viewpoint! I did some of finite element analysis on the Ovation guitar design back in the day. Sadly, I never got to meet Ann & Nancy in person even though I think they visited our plant headquarters once for a marketing promotional appearance.
There is no possible way to make you understand how it felt to be standing in a crowded living room of a basement apartment, and having someone put this album on the turntable of the stereo system, and to hear this incredible band, fronted by these two incredible women, for the first time. It was the summer between my high school graduation and my feeble attempt at college studentry. That first listen was mind-blowing, and all I could think was that I was damned fortunate to be hearing it on a good stereo system for the first time, rather than on the crummy sounding am radio in my dad's old car
Another great song from HEART is the song "Straight On" There's a live performance of it up hear on UA-cam from 1977 or 1978..I think it's from the same concert as this one you just reviewed..Another song of theirs to check out is "Dog And Buttterfly".Theres an acoustic version of it up on UA-cam from 2002..Though they did record it back in the 70s..Its a beautiful song..Another song they have done is a cover of a Led Zeppelin song, "The Battle Of Evermore"Get a chance give a listen to them..They are great...
Yes ,it brings back a lot of memories ,I remember back in 79 or 80 kicking back with a friend in his Crysler Cordova listening to this on his cassette tape ,those times where golden!..😍 Great review & reaction!..👍
Heart was and has always been adventurous in the studio and so well-executed on stage; I've loved their shows since I first saw them in '78. I do recommend you try their "Love Alive" and "Cook With Fire" for deeper tracks held dear by Heart fans.
It's awesome that you can go in time that you have never been to and appreciate the best music in the world, my opinion of course. You're one of the lucky ones because you are open to giving it a chance. I think Led Zeppelin opened the door for you. Love your videos because of your sincerity
All I can say is August 16th, 1977. Front row, center balcony, Convention Hall, Asbury Park, NJ. Great memory. It's interesting that younger fans of music are watching groups I grew up listening to or saw in concert decades ago. Anything from Queen Rocks Montreal 1981, I saw them in '80 & '82, Journey Live in Houston '81, I saw them in '82 &'83, Styx from the seventies or eighties, I saw them on '78 & '83, Bryan Adams, saw him in 1983 opening for Journey, Billy Squier saw him in 1981 and 1982 opening fir Queen.
I love Heart’s lyrics because they’re feminine without being saccharine or overly sentimental the way some singers get. Without Heart, I never would have known love is evening breeze touching your skin. Without Heart, I never would have dreamt I was a willow bent down over a stream of sweet flowing love. And yes, they sound just as good as they’re recordings.
I saw Heart live in either 1976 or 1977 (I am old, can’t recall exactly lol) at Nelson’s Ledges Park in Ohio. This was so fantastic live! I’m a virtually lifelong Heart fan. So happy you chose this one!
Lol... Almost forgot. Roger Fisher is a really good guitarist. He's the guitarist next to Nancy and in September of 2021, he played lead guitar for Ann Wilson's solo concert.
Imagine hearing this song onboard an aircraft carrier on a six month Mediterranean Cruise off the coast of Italy in 1977 that was my introduction. The intro of Nancy was an echo of the guitars i had heard in Spain so I was WOW this is a female playing this. The rest of Dreamboat Annie as a sailor out at sea I appreciated this album from the waves of the sea hitting shore to the sounds of the seagulls a welcoming sight because they are testament that land is near. Thanks for this.
Thank you. You are such a beautiful person. It is so nice to be able to open these time capsules and enjoy them with others like music is intended to be. Keep up the great work!
We cannot put in to words being a child in the 60 & 70's. Led Zep, Heart, which are sisters by the way Ann and Nancy Wilson. We sat in line for days at the box office to score great seats. Tom Petty, Neil Young. We could talk for days. Thanks for finding your crazy parents and grandparents plaice. see why we're so cool?
I SAW HEART IN 1978! VANCOUVER, CANADA THANKS FOR THIS BLAST FROM MY PAST! The thousands of fans on the Stadium Floor were so tightly packed together like sardines, I could lift the bottom of both feet off the floor and REMAIN VERTICAL! A SWEATY Good Time was had by all! So lucky to be a Teen growing up in the 70s!
Nancy's guitar solo at the beginning is called "Silver Wheels" on the studio track. Interestingly, not only does she repeat one of the sections here, she also inserts a section that comes from a song from "Dog and Butterfly," called "Hijinx." That album was released the same year as this concert.
I saw Heart live the summer before they played the Kennedy Center Honors for LZ. The sisters freaking ROCKED. The guitar and the voice not lost a step. (Plus we got a preview of what they were prepping for the Kennedy Center.) No one wanted to leave.
Ann: Greatest female lead, pop/rock genre, 1963-1987. Nancy, the guitarist, played at least 4 different instrumets, wrote, arranged and added vocals. Sisters were a singing duo as young children.
In interviews, Ann Wilson said they loved led Zeppelin and tried to be the female version. You can hear that in the way many of their songs were built.
"Shredding" is the word you were looking for...she was shredding that guitar, brother!
Hard to shred on an acoustic guitar but Nancy did it!!
Ann Wilson, one of the greatest female rock vocalists of all time. Nancy Wilson, one of the great guitarists, male or female and also a great singer.
Ann's voice never fails to give me goosebumps!
That feeling is when you’ve discovered a fold in space time, when a song from 40 years ago sounds like yesterday and time dissolves away. It’s spiritual.
💫🌌⭐😉
Here's a Nancy Wilson guitar word for you: Master. Also, thanks to you sir for picking up these legends when we fade away. Carry on and enjoy them as much as we did and still do. Ann is in her 70's and can still SANG❤
Virtuoso
We watch because you help us remember the best era for music!!!
I've always put Nancy Wilson in my top 10 acoustic guitar players of all time, and that's male or female. She was absolutely incredible.
I bought a pearl white Ovation Baladeer because of Nancy.
And still is actually.
One of my all time favorites! I hadn't seen this version, it always amazes me when studio and live sound almost alike.
Nancy shines in this track, love her.
I agree Sara, so damn good
And for us - it’s revisiting our youth- so the enjoyment is mutual!
Comments like this really move me. Thank you .
Ann and Nancy, man. Seriously epic talent.
The word u was looking for was sister played the Hell out of that guitar
She's majestic! Seeing a woman do this was so beautiful to me as a young lady way back when!

Those of us who lived through the 60:s, 70's,
And 80's love you reactors keeping this music
Alive. Best era of music ever
I lived in this era and it was the best ever.
No autotune again. Just straight up
Salvo, you need to do that entire Dreamboat Annie album!! You will not regret it whatsoever!! The Wilson sisters & bandmates were an absolute force! Ann's voice, Nancy's expert guitar chops...it was a complete package!
It was stunning. From start to finish.
Nancy is truly an amazing guitar goddess and Ann’s piercing vocals that are still just as banging in 2022 as they were in 1978 just blows my mind!!!! I saw them in 1988 & they were killer!!!! ☮️

Yep. Many of the Seattle Grunge Bands did their first recordings in Hearts' Studio.
Wow, the way Nancy seamlessly threw her riffs from Hijinx into the intro was beautiful!
Real musicians doing unforgettable songs. Ahhhhh...my wayward youth...❤🔥Magic Man was released in 76 (I was just 19)! A very respectful reaction, glad you loved it too.
Had the pleasure of seeing these lovely ladies and the band 48 years ago! I'm 65
We need to thank ourselves everyday that Heart was ever a thing.
The music of my youth! Thank you so much for appreciating it. Heart was incredible!
So cool you young people checking out an diggin' our music! I saw Heart live in 1977. Mind blowing.
Awesome! I’m so happy you chose this version because it showcases Nancy’s amazing guitar skills at the beginning. They are so good live! ❤️❤️
I've loved them for almost 40 years now, going to see them again in August and I can't wait. They're just so incredible live!
I haven't heard a lot of these songs in decades. Watching someone who is new to the music and gets such enjoyment out of it is fun.
Listen to that studio version all the way through without stopping it will blow your mind
Love those talented sisters. Heart rocked out!
I saw this concert in mid 70's. I ve seen them multiple times. I even did some time at same studio in late 70's in Vancouver.
Love this song. It takes me back when the traveling carnival would come in town and they would have this song cranking.
You can’t take it apart.
we used to cruise our local roadways where everyone congregated on Saturday nights and listen to Heart. that was a good time in the old days.

So good watching with a newbie. Makes it all new again and wonderful love you
Nancy’s guitar intro on this is iconic. One of the best guitarists of all time

Best appreciation for this magnificent lady, thank you!! It was wonderful watching you feel her talent.

Nancy killed it, so many feels watching this version!
I saw Heart live in Asbury Park on the day that Elvis died in 1977. They were a stunning rock band.
Seen Anne Wilson twice and she is masterful.
Saw them back in the early 90s and they were so good!!! You have to check out these dreams next you haven't heard Nancy sing yet

Its why i had to buy the series Midnight Special...to have copies of these wonderful musicians in their prime!
My grandma and I were walking in the Seattle supercenter back in the early 70's. They were playing for free. We sat down in the grass and listened.
Sweet! Kinda jealous... 😊
There is no possible way to make you understand how it felt to be standing in a crowded living room of a basement apartment, and having someone put this album on the turntable of the stereo system, and to hear this incredible band, fronted by these two incredible women, for the first time. Even better is front seats at their concert. It was amazing
This is when music had substance!!!!
One of my all time favorite Heart songs.
Ann Wilson is top shelf.
Saw them live many times (before 1983) - one of the best live shows Ive ever seen.

listening to this on his cassette tape ,those times where golden!..😍

Did the car have rich Corinthian leather? 🤔
Heart was and has always been adventurous in the studio and so well-executed on stage; I've loved their shows since I first saw them in '78. I do recommend you try their "Love Alive" and "Cook With Fire" for deeper tracks held dear by Heart fans.
Actually, "Love Alive" is my favorite Heart song. You can feel a Zeppelin influence in it's mystical vibe.
I appreciate your appreciation. I'm glad I found you.
It's awesome that you can go in time that you have never been to and appreciate the best music in the world, my opinion of course. You're one of the lucky ones because you are open to giving it a chance. I think Led Zeppelin opened the door for you. Love your videos because of your sincerity
Thank you so much Oliver
Oh yeah baby... crazy good 😊😊😊😊
I was in my early-to-mid 20s during this time, and saw them live 3 times...couldn't get enough! 😍❤🤘🏻Ann's voice hasn't lost much, even today!
Male or female makes no difference. Ann Wilson has the greatest voice in the history of rock. INCREDIBLE!
Transcendent. Maybe their greatest song.
I was in my early twenties in this era. Fun being alive and at this age when there was so much talent. I had a blast as you could imagine.
All I can say is August 16th, 1977. Front row, center balcony, Convention Hall, Asbury Park, NJ.

Me too! 4x for me

I saw them live 3 times between 1976 and 1978. Once in a small bar on the MS coast.
I saw Heart live in either 1976 or 1977 (I am old, can’t recall exactly lol) at Nelson’s Ledges Park in Ohio. This was so fantastic live! I’m a virtually lifelong Heart fan. So happy you chose this one!
Heart is popular because they are great
Pure, raw talent!!
This is an amazing group! They were underrated for being women, but these ladies rock!
I got to see Heart live in the summer on 1979, UNFORGETABLE
Love Heart best Rock and Roll Band
Lol... Almost forgot. Roger Fisher is a really good guitarist. He's the guitarist next to Nancy and in September of 2021, he played lead guitar for Ann Wilson's solo concert.
I have had the line "I was a willow last night in a dream, I bent down over a slow flowing stream" in my head since the early 70s
@pluvio You are right. brain fog.
Ann has the best female rock voice ever
Can’t get enough Heart!
I think the word you're looking for is virtuoso
Imagine hearing this song onboard an aircraft carrier on a six month Mediterranean Cruise off the coast of Italy in 1977 that was my introduction. VANCOUVER, CANADA
THANKS FOR THIS BLAST FROM MY PAST! The thousands of fans on the Stadium Floor were so tightly packed together like sardines, I could lift the bottom of both feet off the floor and REMAIN VERTICAL!

I was 22 in 1978.... lived through the best times ever!!
I saw Heart live the summer before they played the Kennedy Center Honors for LZ. The sisters freaking ROCKED. The guitar and the voice not lost a step. (Plus we got a preview of what they were prepping for the Kennedy Center.) No one wanted to leave.
How does a person play guitar like that? Nancy is crazy sick talented!!!!!
My favorite from Heart! I saw them in concert! Absolutely amaze balls!
One of the more impressive things to me, you heard part of the studio track and they carry it on the live track and then some. That's talent.
Heart was my first concert in the 70s! It was my favorite group in the day.
The '70's,,,,ya had to be there. 💥👍😎
I was at that concert! Yay!
All bow to the Wilson sisters they've been rocking for over 40 yrs and still got it
One of the best concerts I’ve ever gone to! Accidentally set my hair on fire during this song trying to get the lighter to work! 😳🤣
