The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony usually has a performer inducting another performer(s) with a speech, the inductee(s) giving a speech, and then the inductee(s) performing two or three of their most iconic songs. One of my favorite inductees at a ceremony was when RUSH was finally inducted in 2013...the induction was by Dave Grohl and the late Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters, who then ducked out and changed to perform with RUSH the song "2112: Overture". You really don’t know Steve Winwood?!? Definitely one to dive into! Higher Love, Back in the High Life Again, Valerie, Roll With It, Gimme Some Lovin’, and my favorite, Can’t Find My Way Home - all great songs, and it wouldn’t surprise me if you’ve heard at least one without knowing it was him. He’s been around since the 60’s both in groups and solo. Check him out! Jeff Lynne (second singer) was a founding member of ELO (Electric Light Orchestra), another excellent band you definitely need to jump into!
Steve Winwood is a long-time singer, keyboardist, and guitarist who started with the Spencer Davis Group when he was 15 as their vocalist, then moved to Traffic, then Blind Faith (and a couple side-projects, one with Eric Clapton) before continuing his career as a solo artist. Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, and Blind Faith are all worth checking out. Looks like he's on the keyboard for this one.
Prince kills it on the guitar .. an angry guitar at that. 🎸 Prince was upset with Rolling Stone’s Top 100 Guitarists list cuz he wasn’t even mentioned. Hence, the brilliant angry guitar solo. 😡 That following year Prince got ranked at #39 in the Top 100. 🤜 “Boom”
This was Prince's way of saying F.U to Jann Wenner. Wenner is the founder of Rolling Stone and dictator (basically) of the RRHOF. Prince's attendant was off camera and caught the guitar.
How is everybody today? Apologize for being late. One of my all-time favorite I remember this induction like it was yesterday. Dahni looks just like his father. And it's such a blessing have prince up there with the traveling wilburys . I'm sure he made Eric Clapton who helped out d George Harrison with this song's production. proud rest in peace to George, Tom and Prince. You will certainly enjoy
The reason Prince asked to be part of this performance was because he was pissed off that he was left off of a list of greatest guitarists of all time. I think Rolling Stone magazine did the list. No one knew he was going to break out like that. When he threw the guitar up and strutted off stage was his F you to whoever made the list. He definitely should’ve been somewhere on the list.
Yep, I was going to tell this story if you hadn't, Kim. Prince was a brilliant musician. People focused on other aspects of his performances but he could play the hell out a guitar. He let the list makers know, they got it wrong!
I have never heard that story but it really doesn't surprise me that they wouldn't acknowledge Prince's brilliance. Rolling Stone has always been notorious for the idiots who were reviewers. Their review of Led Zeppelin 1 personally insulted Plant and Page. They went on to slam all their albums until years later when the magazine apologized and admitted they were wrong.
@@livingreflection5 I didn’t hear about Led Zeppelin. Most of the people who do reviews or make up who is the best at what ever don’t know what they’re talking about .
Prince asked?? If he did, which Im skeptical, It would be to honor Harrison, not for the purpose of rubbing it in Rolling Stones magazine's face. After all, he's been doing amazing things on the guitar since the 70s
Prince is a genius, a gift, a badass, a legend. And he displayed all that and more during this performance. He revered The Beatles and his respect and adoration showed here, in spades.
Steve Winwood is rock n roll royalty. He's also in the Hall of Fame w/his former band Traffic. He was a child prodigy, multi-instrumentalist and has a singular voice. Many famous rockers sought him out to work with him. Jimi Hendrix wanted to be in a band with him & Steve did play on Jimi's Voodoo Child song. Steve and Eric Clapton were in the band Blind Faith together. He joined his first pro band at the age of 14-15, Gimme Some Lovin is his world famous song while he was a teen. Traffic-Dear Mr Fantasy, Blind Faith-Can't Find My Way Home, won Grammy's in the 80s..Higher Love, Roll With It, Valerie. His catalogue is deep.
George Harrison was such an amazing songwriter, singer and musician. He just happened to be in the same band as the greatest, most prolific singer/songwriting duo in all of music history. He's likely one of the ultimate inspirations for guitar players everywhere. Little wonder Prince wanted to play on this.
This is a GREAT video to react to. VERY interesting. Love it! Steve Winwood was a part of the Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith (Can't Find My Way Home - you should listen to) and had his own albums. Jeff Lynne was the lead singer for ELO. You should look at the "'Traveling Wilbury's" which was made up of Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty. Unfortunately, one by one they passed with only Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne alive now. I LOVE your reaction, especially your facial expressions. Prince made the guitar WAIL.
Can't tell you how many times I've watched this performance! From what I can tell, it's the same guys who were holding him when he leaned backwards who also caught his guitar.
I was pregnant with my first baby 45 years ago the first time I heard this record and it made me feel the same way and all these years and thousands and thousands of listening to it I still feel the same every time

If you're a bad azz
and you know it
then your art will surely show it.
If you're a bad azz and you know it
show it as you walk it.
Prince you're a bad azz
AND WE KNOW IT!!!
Woo Hoo!
Exactly why Prince is My Forever Love! Nobody compares to his talent, and there will never be another like him! 💜💜💜💜
Amazing Performance wonder how many ppl didn't know what an amazing guitarist/musician Prince such an awesome assortment of extremely talented musicians
Great reaction
Marc Mann played the great lead guitar in the first half. Steve Windwood is on the keyboards, Jeff Lynne sings the falsetto part
'Never really gave it a thought before this, but there's a natural similarity in George and Tom's voices.
This was nice, Salvo - thanks.
While my guitar gently weeps is a Beatles Staple Its on the Beatles White album (George Harrison Wrote this one).
AND THAT FOLKS IS HOW IT'S DONE!💜💜💜💜
The guitar Mic drop! Prince was amazing!
Tom petty rocks ..many hits
So many good songs! I wish Salvo would revisit them.
@@JayS64 Actually Tom Petty invited him to play with them. I think he agreed that Prince should have been on the list
Great selection. The original, composed by George with the Beatles is also amazing. Tks SG
Jeff Lynne is ELO ! You should listen to them . GEORGE HARRISON was a member of the Beatles and this is a tribute. Dhani is George's son.
Dhani has his dads eyes ❤. I can’t stop looking at him. Wow 😢
Prince is a genius, a gift, a badass, a legend. And he displayed all that and more during this performance. He revered The Beatles and his respect and adoration showed here, in spades.
Prince! Blown Away....Amazing!!! 💋💋💋
Prince threw his guitar up to heaven and George Harrison caught it!
Prince is Prince he could do anything he wanted to back in the day💜
That's one of my top 3 favorite guitar performances ever. To play that with that much style is just unreal.
“I need to listen to more Petty .” Indeed you do. 😊
You need to check out Jeff Lynne's (singer with the beard) band, ELO.
George Harrison was such an amazing songwriter, singer and musician. He just happened to be in the same band as the greatest, most prolific singer/songwriting duo in all of music history. He's likely one of the ultimate inspirations for guitar players everywhere. Little wonder Prince wanted to play on this.
I have to say I think Prince was overlooked when it came to his guitar skills only because everyone loved his voice. He was an amazing guitar player
I love Dhani Harrison's big smile as Prince plays his solo in front of him. ❤
Can't tell you how many times I've watched this performance! From what I can tell, it's the same guys who were holding him when he leaned backwards who also caught his guitar.
@9:41 Pure Amazement 😂. even gave the confirmation "thats bad ass" giggle
I always imagine that Prince was throwing his guitar up to heaven do he can have it when he got there. He is fantastic at this. Epic walk off 😎
I was pregnant with my first baby 45 years ago the first time I heard this record and it made me feel the same way and all these years and thousands and thousands of listening to it I still feel the same every time
