I have a really crappy floor and cannot find anyone to do the work so I think I want to attempt to do it myself using large format tiles. Even though this is a rental the kitchen is small (9x12) and I think I want to try it although I'm sure you have years to training I just want to give it a try and get a floor in. Should apply the mortar with flat side of trowel to squeeze out air pockets then use the notch side to level it out and take out excess
