Tiling the wall itself man! My next project....I saw how to remove bathroom tiles but how do you do that with a bath in the way safely???? I'd be just interested to know.....
I do a lot of tiling on my renovation projects for clients yet I still watched your video. I guess I just like watching someone else work for a change 😂 Top job.
You make that look so easy. As someone who needs their bathroom floor tiling after I had to lift them due to a leak, I’m hoping to be able to do the job myself, to save money but also very conscious of messing it up and making it more expensive by having to get an expert in to fix my attempt. Feel like after watching this I “could” give it a go myself as your video is a very clear and easy to follow method. First video of yours I’ve ever seen, won’t be the last. Keep up the great work
This is exactly the right way to apply tile adhesive, in one and the same direction - so you don't get a hollow sound or air under your tiles either. Too many YTs just throw it on the floor and smooth it out in all directions, they might find out in the long run that it can cause problems! Love your videoes by the way.
As a retired painter and decorator with 50 years experience I also tiled floors and laid laminate flooring. I enjoy watching your videos. If I can give you and anyone else watching this video some advice, please wear knee pads. I didn't, and now I'm paying the price as i need knee replacements. Everyone please wear knee pads. Cymru 🏴
Found your channel yesterday, done quite a bit of tiling over the years but your bathroom renovation and tiling videos are top notch. Lots of useful tips and info, making my upcoming bathroom install less daunting
Good demo. You can clean your paddle mixer right after you finish mixing the mud/adhesive. You just need another bucket of water and place the mixer in it and run it for a minute and you get a clean mixer for the next batch of mud/adhesive or grout. Just be careful where you dumb your wash water or let it decant and pour the water off later.
Loving that you used colour matched silicone, so many times I’ve had to argue with tilers who want to use white. Although I also like to get them to grout the corners then I go over with clear.
You make this look easy. I tiled my kitchen floor without the levelling system, I didn't do a bad job but there are definitely high and low spots so if I dare do it again I would definitely invest in that. Watching this full series as generally interested, your videos are from a UK perspective and there's no bullshit or time wasting in them.
Yeh just don't buy the one I bought from B&Q absolute waste of money the part that goes under the tile has a curve so it likes to push the tile up and off the bed, a mind boggling design, it was the vitrex branded one.
You’re on of the few that make a great tile placement, it’s a long thinking process but it makes the results 1000% better, i’m sure you do the same process about the print of the tiles being careful not to place two similar print close to each other ❤
As a keen diyer, working in facilities engineering. I must say your attention to detail and finish is excellent. Keep up the good work, videos are invaluable to anyone who needs advice on there first attempts, or to improve on their own skills
Excellent video, better than most pro vids I've watched. If I may add a few points? - Measure the water:grout ratio (or stick to the manufacturer's guidelines) that you used in case you need to add / replace any in future, then it will be a colour match and not look slightly different to the original. - Don't use shiny glossy floor tiles in a bathroom, as they're lethal when wet. - When wiping the grout, keep at 45 degrees to the grout line where possible, then you won't wipe any out of the joint.
Good job mate, well explained and executed! One thing i woukd add for thr average diyer is to use a slow set adhesive. The last thing you want is to be rushing to try and lay the batch before it sets in the bucket. Ask me how i know 😅
Great tip about the water you can get away with normal water on whites and beiges but never with greys! End up light grey and dark grey! Great videos as always!
I've been a glass blower for 25yrs & I'm due to be made redundant in July2025. Plan to retrain as a handyman, your videos provide amazing content. Thank you so much for all your hard work. Unfortunately you make it look so easy😢😊
good job. there is special tool Grout rake tool , which is to clean the space between the tiles. It is like a knife but the sides do the job. I tiled my bath floor on the OSB boards and the grout cracked. I removed everything , put cement boards and tiled on top and now is fine. It it hard to tile on wood sometimes.
@@TheDIYGuy1 No problem, you deserve it. 100% and. I subscribed which I rarely do. And btw, and this is not criticism. Wow, what a great tutorial, concise and practical. The only thing I missed is how to manage your leveling for the drainage hole? Do you check every tile for tilt or how??
Would love to see the full underfloor heating install, and also the wall installation. I've currently removed a load of old tiles and will use dumawall tongue and groove for the new finish. My walls are concrete. I'm wondering how crazy I need to go removing the old grout to make the surface as smooth as possible...

(yes the leaks have happened after the tiles have gone down, only twice, but has happened ! 😞just to be clear,i didn't fit the underfloor heating !
I am looking to redo my bathroom this summer, so these videos have really come at the right time. Have you made a video regarding the underfloor heating that you have installed. If not, could you please provide a link to which one you have used.
Hi, great video. To use the levelling wedges, do you have to let the very first tile set first before using the clamp and wedges to level off it? Thanks 👍

Great video. Makes a lot of sense. I wanted to ask advice...We have tiles on our bathroom floor which have been laid on hardie board like your example here. They were fine for years but we suspect water has gotten into the substrate below the hardie backerboard (via the hinge where our shower screen is where the seal isn't great) as in the last year we have had grout and tiles cracking. Despite our best efforts to remedy it, it seems to have created a domino effect. Do you think we would need to remove tiles/hardie backer and original substrate (most likely chipboard) to fix the issue? I didn't know if it was possible to completely redo a bathroom floor without redoing the whole thing! Also, why do you not lay hardie backer board completely under a bath? Ours is like yours here where it only partially goes under and I thought that was a mistake on the original installation by the previous property owners? Would really appreciate your advice on this. I have seen experienced tilers give up trying to lay 900x900x10 VC black mirror polished tiles on a concrete floor because the resultant reflections made it look awful, a specialist tiler was brought in to re-do the job..
