And this only from a renters perspective. You should dive into what they are doing to hosts. Unfair and unjust rating systems that penalize your standing. Low class renters that can tarnish our reputation and get away with false claims. I have dealt with so many of these issues more times than I can count. If the renter is having a bad experience it’s most likely due to what turo is doing to the hosts.
It’s our fault for allowing such a platform to become as big they’ve become. Without our subscription, they would’ve failed and this applies everywhere else. Save the mom and pops businesses at all cost.
I looked at Turo when I was in Vegas in 2019 for my 20th anniversary. The terms were insane. Some guy had a fleet on Turo, and he wanted renters to pay for a complete detail after an 8 hour rental. I went to Enterprise and rented a Mustang convertible and had a wonderful day driving out to Death Valley and back.
Man, I unsubbed from this doo a while ago, and stopped watching his nothing-videos, but I'm so glad these types of comments are still being made today. 😂
@@HotBoxTrucking Because a contract can only extend into reasonable territory. Unreasonable restrictions are not enforceable under contract law. Of course, all of these companies rely on the users to not actually file any legal action, because their ToS, EULA, and/or "Community Guidelines" are often too broad to be considered enforceable language.
I used Sixt once, in Denmark. I reserved the biggest car I could, a full size Opel wagon. I was given a base model BMW X1 and they had the nerve to call it an upgrade because "its a BMW.". Then, 4 weeks after I dropped it off, they tried to charge me for a tire. I asked to see the records and the car had been rented once or in their possession when they decided I damaged a tire. Once I pointed that out, they left me alone.
Rented from Turo twice. One experience was totally fine. Rented a Mustang convertible to cruise around for the weekend in my own city. Good host, good car, and the experience was flawless. Other one was super annoying, which pretty much convinced me never to use Turo for out of town trips again. I went to Atlanta and rented a Hyundai Sonata and opted for Airport pick up/drop off. I assumed that the host would be delivering the car curbside, which was a mistake. Turns out airport pick up/drop off doesn't mean curbside delivery. I had to decode a massive instruction set that guided me to a shuttle bus that took me to an offsite third party airport parking service. Wasted at least 1.5 hour of my vacation trying to figure it all out and waiting for the shuttle. Then I get in the car and while it was clean and appeared to be well maintained, the car clearly had the smell of weed in it. Pretty obvious a previous renter smoked in it. I absolutely couldn't stand it, but I didn't have any other choice. Not like I could go back up to the rental counter and ask for another car. So I set off and immediately realized the steering felt very shaky. I was unable to figure out what it was but it felt very shaky around 30-45 mph, but then smoothed out. I realized it was most likely a balancing issue. I texted the host and they were apathetic and said that you should just drive and they'll be sure to take a look at it once the rental was over. Annoyed me, but again not like I had another option. Renting from any of the big companies last minute was prohibitively expensive. So I was stuck with this for the week. Not to mention the stupid thing had intensely dark tints that made visibility at night very limited. Almost got into a wreck in downtown Atlanta because it was raining and I couldn't see a car coming from the left at an intersection. Decided to drive with the windows down after that even though it was raining because I didn't want to risk an accident due to poor visibility. Turo in concept is awesome, but is massively let down by some of the hosts. FWIW the host I rented from was a Super Host and had great ratings. So this just goes to show that the platform clearly doesn't care about the bad experiences and just likes to push the positives until you can ignore the negatives.
Turo Sucks, I will never use them again. Now I always rent from a reputable company. I might pay a little more but there is no bullshit like Turo has !
All rental companies tend to run like they are insurance scams. Turo is the worst because no one is making sure anyone has insurance or the cars are safe. The people renting out their cars on these platforms often look to bilk renters for unreasonable things or false damages to make more money.

Had my Turo bmw 330i rental cancel day of on me from a pretty reputable Turo person with many cars. Rented from Sixt (who has BMW’s) for less than Turo and it was brand new vs 3 years old I will never use Turo again!
Turo was great when it was starting out, really fun way to try new cars at a reasonable price. However the standards for hosts have gotten so low, and the last two trips I’ve had to return the car early due to mechanical issues/deferred maintenance. I can’t trust anything on the platform anymore.
I rented a car one time from Turo. It was a brand new 2024 Mustang with like 2,000 miles on it. After my trip my girlfriend at the time rear ended me. I had to pay out of pocket for the $4k in damages and then her insurance company reimbursed me -- fair play. Months later the owner of the car attempted to bill me for late toll violation notices. He charged one invoice for the tolls (there were 2), and another for the $50 each in late fees. I disputed those charges stating it was the owner's negligence that led to the late violations, and that he should have billed me sooner. Turo took his side. So I called up the toll booth pretending that I was the owner of the car, and I had the employee send me an email specifically stating that the late fees were due to a failure to pay within a certain amount of time after the initial invoice was issued 'to me.' I reopened the dispute with Turo and got my money back. The owner of the car tried to bill me again, Turo blocked it. Sucka
My experience with Turo was I had to use a regular rental car company because the pricing wasn’t right. It just was easier to use a rental company. I was able to go down the street get a car and leave. It was no big deal and it wasn’t able to do that with tour.

Dude they are a Good company until you have a problem. Last year my car was totaled and I decided I want a pretty specific car. Couldn't find one in my town so I rented a car off there and drove down to Orlando. I returned the car actually early by a couple hours. Documented it you know. Sent pictures and let the owner know where it was at. Everything was good. I got email confirmation that the card been returned and the pictures were accepted or whatever and then the next day the next day they talk about returning cars late and I sent the guy whose car I rented a message and it goes. Oh yeah I see that. I'll let them know the car was returned I said. Okay cool I appreciate it. Long story short I got a refund but it took about 90 days for something that should have taken 10 minutes. You have pictures and time when I drop the car off but you still make me wait like 90 days. Ridiculous
The big rental car agencies are really bad about inspecting vehicles before they put them on the road. I can only imagine how bad the Turo model is with people putting abused and under maintained, and sometimes dangerous, cars on the road. I'd love to know how many Turo cars are reconstructed/Salvage title cars.
IMO it kinda just depends if you know what you're getting into while getting into it. I've used Turo a ton, pretty much always good experiences. Once in awhile not, a hellcat I rented was showing chords, but whatever, was fine for a few days, I wasn't putting a ton of miles on it. I mean yeah, there's no doubt, the cars are maintained by people trying to make a quick buck, so it's very possible there's safety concerns with them. Safety concerns that wouldn't exist with a large rental company. But if you want to rent certain cars, there's no other alternatives, so is what it is. There's no hellcats or modded rousch mustangs or whatever at enterprise. So yea, IDK, will keep using it for certain cars, but if I'm vacation with the family or whatever, obviously I'm going to use a normal rental company, with support and all that. Shitty that they kicked you off like that just to silence you. Real scummy.

Long story short I got a refund but it took about 90 days for something that should have taken 10 minutes. You have pictures and time when I drop the car off but you still make me wait like 90 days. Ridiculous
*"It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em"*
I'm sure this won't be a bad idea, heading into the economy we're headed for.
I'm not going to ever rent with Truro. Thanks for the testimonial.
I stopped using turo too. They claimed I booked a car in a totally different airport than the one I searched as my destination
I'm done with turo for doing this.
The customer means nothing to tech investor funded companies
So I tried to use turo not realizing my license was suspended. Figured that out and fixed my license still can’t use turo, that was 4 years ago
Wow, Turo. Wow. This is a sad way to do business.
Man’s out of nowhere got a head of hair
