genius 10/10 move. can't have bad reviews if you just ban your customers who had a bad experience.
Can't fix the platform? Just ban people who recognize the issues. They would have been better served hiring me as a consultant, but I guess that ship has sailed.
Same thing happened to me when I sold items on Gear Focus...F-EM.
Companies that are abusive like turo don’t last long ..!!
Is Turo gonna require employees to start using code names? Like Mr. Brown, White, Blonde, Blue, Orange, Pink...
And this only from a renters perspective. You should dive into what they are doing to hosts. Things that should trigger anti trust suits but they are able to hide behind a vertically integrated platform. Breach of contract issues like you wouldn’t believe. Unfair and unjust rating systems that penalize your standing. Low class renters that can tarnish our reputation and get away with false claims. I have dealt with so many of these issues more times than I can count. If the renter is having a bad experience it’s most likely due to what turo is doing to the hosts.
It’s our fault for allowing such a platform to become as big they’ve become. Without our subscription, they would’ve failed and this applies everywhere else. Save the mom and pops businesses at all cost.
Won’t be using turo ever. Thanks for making this video! If they treat rob like this imagine a regular customer
I use turo all the time and nothing but great experiences so far. Granted I have never had issues with the vehicles but I mean hey no need to experience something for yourself and form your own opinion because a content creator showed you a few negatives.
@@Shaquille796 Lol even two dollar ladies have happy customers.
I wouldn't go recommending it though.
I won't be using Turo ever again.
Today, Mr. Spaghetti is upsetti that he can no longer roll his meatballs through the Olive Garden.
Exactly what I can here for lmfao
I'm so happy this still goes on
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man, I unsubbed from this doo a while ago, and stopped watching his nothing-videos, but I'm so glad these types of comments are still being made today. 😂
Your comments make me lol every time
I looked at Turo when I was in Vegas in 2019 for my 20th anniversary. The terms were insane. Some guy had a fleet on Turo, and he wanted renters to pay for a complete detail after an 8 hour rental. I went to Enterprise and rented a Mustang convertible and had a wonderful day driving out to Death Valley and back.
Complete detail? I could understand if someone barfed in the car and having a complete interior detail.
These guys sound like a dream to deal with.
“Community Guidelines”? I didn’t know Turo was a social media platform. 😂
terms of sevice/etc - why nitpick lol
@@HotBoxTrucking Because a contract can only extend into reasonable territory. Unreasonable restrictions are not enforceable under contract law. Of course, all of these companies rely on the users to not actually file any legal action, because their ToS, EULA, and/or "Community Guidelines" are often too broad to be considered enforceable language.
I don't ever use Turo. But continue with the stories. They're fun to hear about.
I used Sixt once, in Denmark. I reserved the biggest car I could, a full size Opel wagon. I was given a base model BMW X1 and they had the nerve to call it an upgrade because "its a BMW.". Then, 4 weeks after I dropped it off, they tried to charge me for a tire. I asked to see the records and the car had been rented once or in their possession when they decided I damaged a tire. Once I pointed that out, they left me alone.
Turo Sucks, I will never use them again. Now I always rent from a reputable company. I might pay a little more but there is no bullshit like Turo has !
Gotta love the corporate speak letter that just said we shut you up because you are a problem.
It's such an insulting letter, insinuating that Rob is somehow a dangerous person.
All rental companies tend to run like they are insurance scams. Turo is the worst because no one is making sure anyone has insurance or the cars are safe. The people renting out their cars on these platforms often look to bilk renters for unreasonable things or false damages to make more money.
That’s not true. They can only hit you with damages if there is clear photo evidence showing before and after the trip.
@@andrewsnyder9262 lol
@@_PatrickO I would know . I have had so many legitimate claims denied due to poor photo quality or the angle distance issues . The real issue is with the renters who never admit to damaging your car despite good evidence.
@@andrewsnyder9262 If you rent out a car, you should be insuring it. Relying on the customer is hilariously stupid. The whole industry is a joke. It relies on making customers responsible for upkeep of the vehicles even though they paid to use the car. It should be the responsibility of the business to charge enough to cover insurance or any other costs. This includes costs for all accidents.
@@_PatrickO dude you are barking up the wrong tree. I have my model in place. I still go after guests when they owe me under contract for damage that happened during their reservation. Sometimes I get paid other times I don’t. It’s not frivolous . It’s collecting legitimate damages. I don’t lose sleep over it.
I've never pulled the trigger on renting a Turo. I haven't even watched this video yet, but if the company is going to ban Robert who presents as a pretty upfront businessman, a successful one at that, then it seems like there's something inherently wrong with this company. And it seems like there would be no reason to ever risk anyone else on either side of the equation using this company.
I tried once. It was walking distance from my hotel, but they cancelled at the last minute. They said it had just been in an accident (another customer?). I ended up just taking the subway to the airport and renting from National. It seems like it would be cool in the right circumstance, but it just seems like such a hassle most of the time.
He admits to bag driving the cars, on UA-cam. Ban justified.
@@Chris_Garman what?
robs meatball is too spicy for turo.
I will never use Turo. what a crap company
After all the stories I’ve seen you post about Turo I wouldn’t feel comfortable using their services at all
Yeah he’s definitely called “Cody” and not Raj 🤣🤣
Rented from Turo twice.
One experience was totally fine. Rented a Mustang convertible to cruise around for the weekend in my own city. Good host, good car, and the experience was flawless.
Other one was super annoying, which pretty much convinced me never to use Turo for out of town trips again. I went to Atlanta and rented a Hyundai Sonata and opted for Airport pick up/drop off. I assumed that the host would be delivering the car curbside, which was a mistake. Turns out airport pick up/drop off doesn't mean curbside delivery. I had to decode a massive instruction set that guided me to a shuttle bus that took me to an offsite third party airport parking service. Wasted at least 1.5 hour of my vacation trying to figure it all out and waiting for the shuttle.
Then I get in the car and while it was clean and appeared to be well maintained, the car clearly had the smell of weed in it. Pretty obvious a previous renter smoked in it. I absolutely couldn't stand it, but I didn't have any other choice. Not like I could go back up to the rental counter and ask for another car.
So I set off and immediately realized the steering felt very shaky. I was unable to figure out what it was but it felt very shaky around 30-45 mph, but then smoothed out. I realized it was most likely a balancing issue. I texted the host and they were apathetic and said that you should just drive and they'll be sure to take a look at it once the rental was over. Annoyed me, but again not like I had another option. Renting from any of the big companies last minute was prohibitively expensive. So I was stuck with this for the week.
Not to mention the stupid thing had intensely dark tints that made visibility at night very limited. Almost got into a wreck in downtown Atlanta because it was raining and I couldn't see a car coming from the left at an intersection. Decided to drive with the windows down after that even though it was raining because I didn't want to risk an accident due to poor visibility.
Turo in concept is awesome, but is massively let down by some of the hosts. FWIW the host I rented from was a Super Host and had great ratings. So this just goes to show that the platform clearly doesn't care about the bad experiences and just likes to push the positives until you can ignore the negatives.
just deleted my turo account and put rob’s name as the reason
you know what they offered me a 50$ discount code and i was tempted to book my first trip with them, but this video ensured i wont / will not use them in the future / will just stick with good old enterprise.
Today mr spaghetti declares war on turo
My experience with Turo was I had to use a regular rental car company because the pricing wasn’t right. It just was easier to use a rental company. I was able to go down the street get a car and leave. It was no big deal and it wasn’t able to do that with tour.
Good for you for not letting them bully you Rob. I wish I had the time and resources to push back on these large companies when they wrong the average customer
I was not expecting a Doug Tabbutt sighting but I'm here for it.
After your experience, I will never use Turo! I appreciate you bringing their significant deficiencies to light so others don’t get bit in the ass.
4:26 Rob acting like he doesn’t know who Doug Talbott is 😂
*Tabbutt
Thanks for being our Champion, Rob! 😊😊
I was on vacation in Utah earlier this year, and wanted a C300 just to have a semi-nice car to drive during the week I was there. I picked it up from the airport, and as I'm driving up the mountain, this thing is darting left and right all over the road. I get up to my Air BnB and look over the car, and the tires are almost bald and showing cords. I fought turo and the owner of the car for almost my entire trip, and they didn't offer to refund the entire trip, only a few days. Shitty cars, shitty owners, shitty company.
It's day's like today when Rob makes the world a better place... 👌
Not on the days he sells us on a scam though....
Turo is a horse crap organization. I would NEVER use them in any capacity.
Had my Turo bmw 330i rental cancel day of on me from a pretty reputable Turo person with many cars. Rented from Sixt (who has BMW’s) for less than Turo and it was brand new vs 3 years old
I will never use Turo again!
We should all boycott @turo. They cant keep doi g business like this. Also. Id report them to the BBB.
I was done with Turo when the fees more than doubled the rental price. Never looked at it again.
Thanks Rob, it can be a tough road to call people out for their bullshit. Not enough people out there doing it anymore.
Won’t have a Turo story for you since I’ll never rent from them based on your experiences.. But recently had a terrible rental car in Puerto Rico that looked like it had been through the demolition derby.
Mr. Spaghetti has his sights set on becoming a hemorrhoid for Turo.
Thank you for sharing Rob love the channel
Thanks for highlighting these issues ill likely not be using turo based on their response to the issues.
Turo just F'ed up.
Dont let them forget about this. Remind all of your socials not to use Turo on a regular basis.
F Turo! I’ve had crap customer service from them also!
Today mr spaghetti tells someone else to fix their meatballs to help someone elses meatballs.
welcome to the club 😂 I got a perma ban for a similar reason. and I have over 80 successful rentals with good reviews....
Rob is going to be the "Scotty Kilmer" of the rental car industry.
Not surprised but it’s there loss. They just offer a bad service
Turo is too shady... It's too profitable for people to just get the insurance money than it is to make it on renting the car
They changed that . They make it very difficult to collect money from damage. It has to go through shop supplementals now
On today's video, Mr. Spaghetti gets more suckers banned from TURO😅
I can hear the meeting comments, "Rather than solve the problems we have, let's remove the person asking challenging questions and then gaslight him".
I won't be surprised if they reinstate your account in an attempt to shut you up.
Turo was great when it was starting out, really fun way to try new cars at a reasonable price. However the standards for hosts have gotten so low, and the last two trips I’ve had to return the car early due to mechanical issues/deferred maintenance. I can’t trust anything on the platform anymore.
I change oil and my shop has a deal with enterprise and they don’t even change canister filters on any cars 😂
I will no longer be renting on Turo, in your honor.
excited to see more Turo stories (:
Great move! I love these videos and hope Turo is reading the comments. As of this video, I do not plan on using Turo anymore!
Instead of making their business better with your advice, they chose to keep it crapy! Well they lost me as a customer.
Fridays should be Turo talk day in the basement bar…I would watch that for hours
Make an new account with a fake name and see if they realize it’s actually you
Every time I hear a turo story it just reinforces the idea of never even downloading the app
was tempted to use Turo a few times. never will now. when a company shows you what they are, believe them
Turo obviously has not heard of the Streisand Effect.
*"It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em"*
I'm sure this won't be a bad idea, heading into the economy we're headed for.
I rented a car one time from Turo. It was a brand new 2024 Mustang with like 2,000 miles on it. After my trip my girlfriend at the time rear ended me. I had to pay out of pocket for the $4k in damages and then her insurance company reimbursed me -- fair play. Months later the owner of the car attempted to bill me for late toll violation notices. He charged one invoice for the tolls (there were 2), and another for the $50 each in late fees. I disputed those charges stating it was the owner's negligence that led to the late violations, and that he should have billed me sooner. Turo took his side. So I called up the toll booth pretending that I was the owner of the car, and I had the employee send me an email specifically stating that the late fees were due to a failure to pay within a certain amount of time after the initial invoice was issued 'to me.' I reopened the dispute with Turo and got my money back. The owner of the car tried to bill me again, Turo blocked it. Sucka
Man of the people right here! 👍
Great video you’re absolutely right
Turo has always seemed like a really sketchy idea. It might work if it was just an occasional thing where you rented a second car for a few days when you didn't need it, but as a business, it seems like a recipe for disaster. Back in the day, the company I worked for helped document serious damage appraisals (injury accidents, shootings, etc) for a big rental car company and it was amazing to see what people would do to nearly new cars.
Looks like I won't be using turo! Was considering doing so here in Australia but that thought is now long gone. I'm glad they banned you to bring forward these story's!
Nicely done! 💯👍
I will never rent from Turo after hearing about your experience. Surely, someone from Turo will see this video and hopefully read a comment or two.
Someone’s losing their job at Turo
Turo is a crap business. I won’t be using them going forward.
Dang. That Canadian car is worse than a Rent-A-Wreck.
Understandable
Someone in Turo made a big mistake. Having a platform like this - now you can get other people to rent and still get them reviews.
Well, I used Turo a year ago and rented a car for almost a month. After seeing how they treat customers, I will now refrain from using them in the future.
Go get them Rob
Bad people like "Cody" need to be called out.
I will say, when you use your car for the delivery services. They make you get the car inspected by a place and have you send the report
i got banned from turo for taking a car to tijuana without knowing from san diego. the person tried to extort me for taking it to mexico. had me paypal him $500 otherwise was picking up the car. reported him to turo for accepting payments outside of the platform. Then i got suspended for taking the car to mexico.
once again rob is being awesome
They allow someone to rent a car with bald tires and they are so concerned with safety.
The big rental car agencies are really bad about inspecting vehicles before they put them on the road. I can only imagine how bad the Turo model is with people putting abused and under maintained, and sometimes dangerous, cars on the road. I'd love to know how many Turo cars are reconstructed/Salvage title cars.
Rob is going to pull an Elon Musk and buy Turo
This video makes a good point. PayPal will do the same thing.
If they close your account, couldn't you just open a new one? lol
I'm a host on Turo and I love it, but shit like this is disappointing to see. Not only is Turo hurting themselves, but ultimately me too when bad press like this gets out.
They are increasing measures to weed out bad hosts and bad vehicles, but in my opinion they still aren't doing enough.
Today Mr Spaghetti was told he’d have to find another parmesan wholesaler after complaining about shredding consistency
Used turo to learn manual on a tacoma, my dad was teaching me and the tire went flat, replaced it with the spare. Went back to the owner and he was trying to say we owe him a new tire? Get tf out of here man its wear and tear. One and done. Never again
Turo expects us to dox “Cory” I guess and get our pitchforks ready. Lol.
I never even rented a car and got banned. I even tried calling them multiple times trying to get it resolved and was unsuccessful.
Oh wow I’m so surprised 😂
I will never use Turo again.
I'm a nurse and I don't enjoy these protections Turo is using to deny service.
Man’s out of nowhere got a head of hair
This is Rob's villain origin story
My Turo rental had pretty terrible maintenance in Orlando, car did fine but definitely needed tires. Thank god it was dry conditions when we were there, or it would have been dodgy! I believe one of the tires had a constant air leak as well 😂
Sounds like every email I received from a social media platform during covid lol
The car I rented on Toro for a vacation. Looks like I spray painted it at night, Absolutely terrible. And then I left the door open for not too long and it needed a jump, and the dipstick was missing.
I stopped using turo too. They claimed I booked a car in a totally different airport than the one I searched as my destination
Id only rent from Turo to take parts off a car or switch things
Poor Mr. Spaghetti got his side meat ball stolen from Turo.
So I tried to use turo not realizing my license was suspended. Figured that out and fixed my license still can’t use turo, that was 4 years ago
Today, Mr spaghetti is upset his meatball supplier black listed him.
Sounds a lot like most platforms nowadays
Don’t like what you say, even if it’s facts…….. results in a ban or threat of a ban
Luckily you have a platform to dish out their just desserts, most don’t
I’m a turo host with 17 cars. They are 100% on a power trip right now.
