Rob did not get where he is by overspending when he needs to; Rob might have experienced a shortage at the rental companies for SUVs in Winter. I had the same experience in Saskatchewan, no SUVs left, even though I had reserved one, ended up with a small car on All Season tires.
I live in Ottawa.. 10 mins from Gatineau QC. If a car was registered in QC I walk away, compared to Ontario there’s little safety standards, and compliance checks (though I think those don’t exist in Alberta either?), and while Ottawa roads are bad, Gatineau & Montreal roads are worse.. not to mention the driving mentality lol
Quebec has no yearly inspection. You only get one if a cop judges your car to be road unworthy. Rollbacks aren't really a thing, but the tough weather coupled with no incentive to fix your car leads to this. A 260k kms ford escape is in my mind junk from the get go lol, it's kind of rob's fault at this point.

Yeah, one that hasn't been taken care of. I traded my previous car in 2021 for a newer car but it was 16 years old at the time I traded it and it had zero rust. Sure the outside had some scratches on it but no missing trim pieces and the interior was spotless, the back seats looked like they were never sat in. Kentucky doesn't get as much snow as Quebec I imagine but we do get our roads salted in the winter time but I ran the car through the car wash weekly during the winter to keep the salt off for the 6 years I had the car. I also never ate inside the car or allowed open drinks so that helped keep the interior clean.

They didn't even bother to clean the vehicle. Pretty unacceptable to pay for a rental car and it's absolutely filthy when you pick it up.
A good friend of mine rents multiple cars on Turo. He wants customers to break the car, he gets paid to fix it, he finds a cheaper way to do it, but the car still gets fixed. This is someone just screwing everyone over to get the last $$$ out of it
You can cancel if you are not happy with the car and Turo will book you another car . Also you do have to take pics as a host before and after pics for documentation. Also you have to get the car certified inspection once a year. So I don’t know how that people or any host are getting away with that .
They are pretty easy to work on once you get to know them. I dislike doing PTU's. Pulling the rear exhaust manifold to get it out is not my idea of fun.

The trick to booking on turo is to book a week in advance that way you're not paying ridiculous trip fees. If you're booking last minute you might as well go to a traditional rental company
The rust is because in the province of Quebec they use a massive amount of salt to lay the roads in the winter. I’ve seen one year-old vehicles with 10,000 km on them with that much rust because of the condition of the roads.
I haven't used Turo because in my area it's hit or miss on vehicles and it's ALWAYS more expensive than Enterprise. You can't beat $40-$50 a day for a 2023/2024 anything from Enterprise.
I’m a host on Turo, this car is AWEFUL and what’s wrong with some hosts on Turo. However! Rob you have a vendetta against Turo I believe lol. If you wanted luxury you could’ve had luxury. I’m SURE there were newer cars on there. Here is a tip for you and all people booking through Turo. Book at least 2 days in advance for more than 2 days and the fees will be significantly cheaper. They charge much higher fees for same day.
That is a base base model explorer I would have never rented that for any type of luxury event anyway that was very piss poor planning on your part even if it was in fantastic condition it would have never suited the event
I got to ask…you said before that Turo is not competitive because it doesn’t count as a car rental under normal car insurance, so you have to purchase the marked up insurance to make sure you don’t get stuck. Why continue to work with them?
Rob I’m a turo host and I would not even let me guest take that car. If you reach out to turo they would restrict this vehicle especially the windshield and front bumper damage. The only issue nobody has reported.

Has Rob never heard of National? The more upscale enterprise brand. Book 3 cars, bring 2 other drivers, no problem. When I was last in YUL a few weeks ago I got a A4 with less than 1000kms on it from National for $50/day...Not quite what Rob wants but, 1/5th the price of that lovely explorer.
The issue is that enterprise corporate doesn't communicate with their franchises. They will promise something but not let the local owner/operator know to find something to fill the request, and make them look like the asshole. I know this from working with Budget. Its really a shitty system.
