The books: Tyrion spends the night in the library studying
The show: Tyrion sleeps drunk in the kennels with some dogs
The little man with a big impact on the story. Traveling all around the world meeting many major players of the story and seeing the major battles going on.
Joffery says, "Send a Dog to Kill a Dog", but Tyrion remembers it as "Send a Dog to Kill a Wolf".
Its always the black sheep of the family that are the most badass. Tyrion, Arya and Jon, Blackfish, Danny if you count how Visaerys treats her. They are constantly ostracized and made to feel beneath the others of their house, but they're the ones who will outlive the rest and know how to survive on their own strengths. Very inspiring!👏👏👏
Robert is the friend u would want with u in a parking lot brawl
It also shows Jaime’s respect for Tyrion’s deductive reasoning. Jaime assumes Tyrion has already figured it out and by doing this he confirms it
Well I'll be darned. Wouldn't you know Robert's reported behavior in this chapter confirms EVERYTHING Ned said about him that Catelyn summarily dismissed when trying to manipulate Ned into becoming Hand? I guess this king isn't such a "stranger" to Ned after all.
These things are exactly why I love this channel so much. I've always hated Catelyn, but I've never suspected her of being so manipulative and potentially in cahoots with Littlefinger. I just hated how every decision she made was so obviously the wrong one and yet she never even considered the possibility that a single thing was ever her own fault. That's why I hate Cersei too - that, and they both think they're smarter than they really, demonstrably are.
This channel, and Preston Jacobs, has really opened my eyes to the details of these stories. Preston has a lot more tinfoil stuff going on, but he also has a lot of good points and logical ideas. But these guys have convinced me that R+L=J is wrong.
I am just listening to this now for the first time - regarding Robert, he was actually right about Daenerys wanting to use Dothraki to retake Westeros. We know Daenerys is an amazing person, but the small council doesnt (well maybe Varys does). Him wanting to unalive her is no different to Bloodraven killing the Blackfyre (Aenys was it?) in order to prevent war.
I mean, as far as Robert knows, he’s a good king. He is advised by Jon Aryn, he is keeping peace, he is going acros the lands on tours, he is investing in state jobs based on advice of KF, whom Jon Aryn brought… So it makes perfect political sense to remove Vyserys and Daenerys. Yes it is ruthless, but it is a smart political decision
13:15 I thought Tyrion’s lost uncle was fond of him.
18:04 Tyrion is Bilbo Baggins.
tyrion travels are essentially GRRM's perspective on the people, place, things
Still havent got used to the Monday uploads, which is good for me because they always come as a surprise 🎉
These are great!! Loving this series of chapter breakdowns you’re doing.
It also shows how Jamie can be just as smart and subtle. But he chooses not to.
If I look back I am lost.
You guys are so good. Really loving your analyses.
Listen to these during work breaks. Thank you!
The Tyrion quote
“The Starks can count to six. Unlike some princes I might name.”
Joffrey had the grace at least to blush.
I have a theory about the North/ the wall having all these books/scrolls that Baelor wanted destroyed. The cultural idea that the First men are lesser to the Andals (you know the idea that the first men didn't have writing and are not as scholarly inclined as the Andals) may have worked to the Norths advantage here.
"Oh Baelor you want us to burn these books, well we can't cause we don't have any of them after all you know us First men just a bunch of unintellectual savages." While quickly moving them to a less visible shelf, or they would destroy a copy while keeping the originals so they would be left alone.
Wouldn't be shocked if there are hidden libraries in every keep in the North with all the books/scrolls Baelor (and any other Southron for that matter) wanted destroyed.
I hope to see the path GRRM continues him on, I know his story will be better then then the show. He’s one of my favorite characters
than*
Tyrion mentions to the half maester aboard the Shy Maid his father refused to pay for his travel to the free cities and other places to see tbe world. So he was an adventurous little dude.
I thought it said Tyrion wanted that but Tywin said if he wanted to go he could but wouldn’t be allowed back home
I kind of wish Tyrion had just agreed to take the black. Even with no citadel training, he would make a better Maester than Sam, and would give Jon better council. Plus I just like the idea of Jon, Tyrion, Stannis, and Arthur kicking demon ass north of the wall. 🤷♂️
There's a thing I can't get straight, if Tyrion knows that his brothers had something with Bran's fall, isn't it too risky to stay in the Starks territory?? Great content as always!!
It may be risky but it would be very suspicious if a King's guard and the queen mysteriously had to leave.
After listening to this, and a bit of their videos on little finger, it occurred to me; what if the Hound was the one whispering in Joffery's ear? Could Sandor Clegane be the one planting notions in Joffery's head? Not only did he have access, Sandor might have been the only one who had any meaningful influence over Joffery besides Cierci. And I don't see Sandor balking at taking Money to say some things in Joffs presence.
The book burning reference reminds me of what catholics did several times over the generations. George is awesome with bringing many historical points to one place. I'm feeling quite ignorant finally finding this story in 2015 🙄🙂 hugs u guys your these order of the green hand/wolfs den 🙂
Great work as always Mi lady and Mi lord! 💚
Keep it up OOTGH! 🤟😎🔥
I'd love for you to do: "Was the Mad King mad? If so, why?" If you've done this one, I'll keep looking. Reading his History closely, which I need to do again, I think his History has been tainted, situations he was put in were manipulated, he truly feared bad magic, he watched for and openly dealt with treason, and he saw through Dorn. Maybe he feared the Others, hence the wildfire...
"Tyrion's mouth was full of bread and fish, he took a swallow of strong black beer to wash it all down, and grinned up (wolfishly) at Jaime"
It seems he'll back up Starks against his family at the Endgame. And the sentence "you know how much I love my family" well he doesn't.
I also see a mouth full of fish as a rotten mouth.
I had an extra day with my son, so I'm a day late to this video.
Obligatory "intro from 2022, bulk of video from 1999" comment, even though I now understand that it's a Zoom/Skype situation.
💙 Love you guys, and love these chapter-by-chapter analyses!
yes. it will be back to usual audio quality next week
@@TheOrderoftheGreenhand
Excellent 🙌
Tyrion and mushroom have a lot of the same story. Everywhere they go something crazy happens
One of my fav chapters
I think this is a great intro to the Lannisters, and it's interesting that it's in Tyrion's pov, rather than Jaime or Cersei's pov to me.
this was good
Neat!
Nice video, I’ve been greatly enjoying this series, almost makes me want to re-read the series again. I have noticed there is a drop in audio quality from when you introduce the chapter to when you guys discuss the chapter itself. It’s a bit jarring at first, I just wanted to bring it up in case you hadn’t noticed it. Hope this doesn’t come off wrong. Looking forward to the next chapter.
The bulk of the video is dubbed from their patreon members only podcast. the intro was recorded afterwards.
this is the last podcast where the audio will be like that! these were recorded on skype when we were in separate places ! will be back to regular quality next week!
@@TheOrderoftheGreenhand Oh okay I see! I figured you guys were just working within your means. Well thank you for replying, also for continuing to put out content regardless of distance, have a nice day.
Honestly I’m not sure that Jamie’s tipping his hand. I think he knew Tyrion knew that he and Cerci were somehow involved.
Is English your first language?
OOTGH!!!!!
There is something ironic that starks as blood of the first men telling the valryian king Westeros to go screw himself on burning vaylrian texts
Myrcella and Tommen probably have more of Jaime in them. Maybe Joffrey is Cersei's favorite because he has the most of her.
I don't remember Tyrion mentioning that book "the engines of war..." Why would the word "engine" exist in this world?? There are no engines in medieval times, so... Is that a mistake by George?
ahh tyrion time
🙌🙌🙌
I'm so ready to see what all the "Giant among men" comments mean when it comes to Tyrion..
I get all my parenting skills from ASOIAF. A mix of Ned, Tywin, and even a lil bit Doran Martell
Doran Martell? :O
@@jelenajelisavcic9090 lol! He has his good points!
@@javierarroyo9765 Which ones?
@@jelenajelisavcic9090 he made some great matches for his kids, status wise. A prince, a princess, and arranged for his son to at least shoot his shot at a queen.
@@javierarroyo9765 he sent him to die. there was no actual realistic shot there. making a match that depends on overthrowing a king doesn't seem very stable?
Our favorite smart ass
