    One of the few tutorials where things actually go wrong while you're doing it. Thanks for including your process even when it isn't going perfectly!

    Great energy in the video, good quality and done in the spirit of "DIY". Thanks for sharing.

    Well, "easy DIY" is a matter of perspective, depending on what BMW is being worked on and what knowledge and skills you have. I recently took on replacing some of the emblems on my 1997 BMW Z3. The hood and rear emblems were relatively easy, but still require careful work. Of course the big concerns are damaging the paint and/or damaging the actual body by prying. In the case of my Z3, the two side emblems are recessed in the hood's faux air vents. Found that I could easily damage the body of the air vents, so I had to go the extended route of excavating a hole in the middle of each emblem so I could get a pry tool underneath the center of the emblems. I was successful, but it did take some careful work to accomplish this. Bottom line, give very careful thought as to how to approach the emblem and get underneath it, as you mention, using tools that are tough nylon to help keep from damaging the body paint, etc. Good luck to anyone replacing emblems --- look for UA-cam videos like this one for advance information.

    “Knock off” ones look just the same and serve the same purpose. It’s an emblem lol. Much more precious equipment on the vehicle to spend money on.

      Chantel you’re missing the point.. if you’re going to have a BMW it’s all about authenticity, integrity and genuine parts. Let’s put it this way …would you rather have a real diamond ring or a Cubic zirconia it’s just a symbol right?? Wrong!! Lol

      @@crosstalktv5780 except you stupidly forget that the original emblem and many of the smaller parts were MADE IN CHINA ALREADY. Theres a reason your manual says its Assembled in one country, since many parts that aren't the main body is made in another country. All youre paying for is your narcissistic desire to feel important. Some people like BMW for its FUNCTION. you know, people who aren't douches

      9:12 rotary tool drill it out. Just sand the tip of the grommet flush so the tiny drill bit has something to bite onto. You can also work your way from the tiniest bit (Pilot hole) up in size till it’s eaten all

    If the pin gets stuck inside the grommet, drill a small hole and screw in small bolt or screw and pull it out like that 👍🏽

    My oem front emblem replacement doesn't seem to sit completely flush to the hood as the original one. I've pushed down on it several times, but it still has a bit of a wobble. Suggestions?

  • @aacar4095

    So you don't need any kind of double sided tape or anything? When it goes in the grommets it firmly grabs it and that's it?

    After seeing the front job I didn't wait around for the rest. More of an ad for your products than anything else. Starts off with a faded and loose emblem, ends with a new but still loose emblem.

    • @JamieThePain
      @JamieThePain 3 роки тому

      Assuming you mean the badge has come off and the pins are still in the grommets, I managed to get mine out by carefully threading a screw into the pin and then gently tugging it out. might take some finesse but the only paintwork I slightly scuffed was the grommet and that will be hidden by the new badge anyway
