- I've seen many ways to remove the emblems and I've tried many methods. I'm good with any method that gets the job done without damaging the car or scratching the paint.
Part Number for hood emblem: 51 14 8 132 375
Part Number for emblem retainers: 51 14 1 807 495 (you will need 2 of these)

For anyone wondering, that plastic strap is BMW Part# 69420-FU, $227 USD.
Thanks I just ordered one
lol
Bargain
Is it a BMW authentic factory part or aftermarket?
😂
Never would have thought of this! Truly a master when it comes to preserving every aspect of the car, innovation starts with the simplest of solutions.
Thanks, Jamie. I followed the instructions to the letter and had the old hood ornament off in about 2 minutes. Super helpful video!
Just 1?
I got 5 in my neighborhood in 5 minutes 🙌
Jamie look what you've created 🤣
I use 2 drywall screws, drill them at 3 and 10 oclock. Not to deep just a little and pull on them. Works for me👍
Zip tie always worked for me just like your strap method but you can grab it like a handle one good pull comes right up
Tried that one too and it was too tight. But thanks!
Didn't work:(
Doc, you are so gentle.❤
Best solution to replace the BMW Logo! Thanks very much
Absolutely brilliant, got the logo of my R1200GSA motocycle with ease, thank you @Jamie's Garage
Nice video! I didn't have the clearance to slip that strap underneath. I could barely get the blue prying tool under but it worked eventually.
Hi Jaime, thank you for your wonderful video. I have a problem. When I wanted to get out emblem unfortunately both pins are broken? How could I take out the pins? Thank you.
Alrighty then! I had tried everything but a banding ribbon to take off that stubborn badge and just couldn't get under it. I was ready to Dremel it when I saw your method. It was a super tight fit and I had to use the thinner of two bands I had. I couldn't push the ribbon out the other side, but it was just high enough to get a plastic pry bar under it. The rest was cake. Thank you!
Nice video. The only thing I would do differently is after cleaning the area under the rondel, is apply a coat of sealant or wax. But I understand that was just a customer’s car.
thanks a bunch. i'm going to try to put the classic badges on my 2021 X6.
Having never done this before but just thinking out the box with the goal not to damage anything - is it not possible to superglue a "handle" to the center of the emblem and once stuck, pulling it stright up away from the bonnet it off carefully with contrrol force. It seems like it must just go straight up and out. Nothing else holding the pins. Would that work?
Awesome man! Very clever 👌
Great tips and advice😎👍
Man, removing the badge with the screw driver just finished me :D :D :D
Was waiting to see a hammer 🔨 or ice pick at the finale but this must be a legitimate good working customer car 😅
Great job! Very understandable video.
Hi Jamie, can you make a video on how to replace the emblem on the steering wheel of BMW X3 2.0d F25 (Jan-2015)? Or just give some instructions on how to do it? Thanks a lot !!!
Brother,you Nailed that Video.Thanks for Tha FYI man.. 😎 👍 👌
Sucking up now after his last video
🤣✌️ hello from Scotland 🏴
Thanks Jamie.👍👍🏴🏴
Maaaaaaaan you gave me a heart & anxiety attack on the first vehicle you scratched….. great video keep making more so I can keep my car in great shape and looking good
I cringed so bad on that lol
thx bro!
Easiest way I found is using an empty 1L plastic yogourt, or cottage cheese container. Cut a 1 Inch wide circular strip from the container. Then making sure the natural curve of the plastic strip faces down feed it under the emblem, same as you did with the strap. The natural curve keeps the strip down against the hood so it will easily come out at the other end. Then just grab both ends and pull it straight up.
I’m looking for the hack as it’s been 8 years since I did a eBay chinese Bmw badge swap out and I used a cloth wrapped around a butter knife and tbh I spotted your suggestion and that’s gotta be the easiest pushing under then pulling .
Good tip 👍
Tried it. No go. Sweat dripping off my forehead, veins popping out... nothing. The banding ribbon I pulled off a box in my garage was thin and stiff enough to get under the badge and finish it off with a plastic pry bar. But it might work on one that's not so dang tight.
Great video, thanks!
You seem a little OCD about paying attention to the details…I love it! Lol I’d like to work for you, I bet we would accomplish big things sir. I’m the same way. ;-)
I followed this tutorial but in my case the new emblem doesnt seem to stay firmly on the longitudinal side.
Great job💕👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you!!!
Thanks 🎉
Jaime , your hilarious, keep doing the videos! You make me want to find a very old BMW to work on. And by old I’m talking like 20-35 years old. Your opinion?
E34, e36, e38. E38 is kinda complicated though. But still great cars
Definitely look at an E46. Very inexpensive overall in my opinion and once you replace all the old plastic/rubber the M52 is a very reliable engine
*Edit - M54 engine*
@@codyfield6859 I agree. Can’t believe I forgot to mention the e46. Guess I just like older stuff and the m20 and m50
Man my heart sank on that one just full send on that hood lmao. I hope that was a throw away hood for that guy.
Thanks 🙏
What is the size of the logo (mm)
Thanks Jamie, very helpful regards Steve 😎
I normally get it up a bit, and use mechanics old friend some piano wire, wrapped around the edge and pull it off via a slide hammer.
Any chance you know the size of the hole? (Aftermarket hood has marks for the hole but need correct size bit)
Used a ziptie instead, worked out fine
Packing strip, used to break into cars BITD. Happy days.
fishing line works for me
I can’t believe you really did that 😅
Watching you scrach the car with the flat head made me tense my hole body
How about 3D printing a curved edge tool?
How about one on the trunk lid??
Hey there. New subscriber. Question if that’s ok….own a 2016 X1…needs rear rotors/pads. I’m pretty mechanical but get differing options in regards to diy. Just wondering what your thoughts are on that. Thanks. 🇨🇦
Probably need a scan tool to put the back brakes in service mode.
Where to buy that X5logo and how much?
I use zip ties to tie them to the vamos Solenoids in my m2 because theirs no room to pry them out so I tug them out
I also use atp 205 re seal fluid for all my w plastic and rubbers
I prefer the screwdriver method. Especially if you're in a really bad neighborhood! :)
good thing i saved theese straps from a package 3 years ago just in case
Save everything! You never know
@@JamiesGarage1 Ha ha, just keep on encouraging hoarding.
Funniest video on the internet..😂😂
I've never owned luxury cars but I'm kinda intrigued to know how much a replacement BMW badge would cost 👀
I just bought one from a wreckers cost $30 NZD
Front hood one is very cheap and easy. Back side one is like 5x times more expensive for some reason. I also think it's a pain to replace it too, not sure tho
❤❤
Where do you buy the strap?
Please confirm that it was a joke. ... right?
He must think that everyone accumulates these straps from mailing boxes he probably receives by the truckload at his garage, lol. I think buying the strap would be really wasteful. Of course, you want to find the "tool" he just improvised here. It is a cut piece from plastic box strapping. Buying it would mean you likely would have to get it in a large roll (Amazon has it) Perhaps get the roll then sell it in small easy mail strips for $20 each + shipping to everyone that watched the video thinking okay, I haven't ever saved those from the rare box wrapped with maybe two of those box strips I get delivered to my house from UPS or FedEx, lol! Maybe try some blue painter's tape to protect your car's paint and use something you might have like a plastic lid you can cut to use the thin lid top to slip under the emblem to lift it up. That might work too.
What do all of those numbers mean?
Those numbers are from production associates showing there job was completed in the factory.
Is it safe to use any kind of tape?
no use the weakest
Use what is known as blue painters tape. Ask anyone in paint department at Home Depot. It's meant to not adhere to cured paint. 3M Scotch Blue 2090 Multi-Surface Painter's Tape. That should be safe.
One tip - put some grease on pins and grommets. I have sed vaseline. Do not harm plastic.
The holes are completely different on my BMW 2 series.
Imma start straling these and sell them for dirt cheap
"… use any cleaner that's safe for the paint of the vehicle" - proceeds to scuff the paint to hell …
🙋❤
0:30 😱 triggered!!!!
Somebody stole mine
my jaw dropped to tha floor
Some strong hot glue and yank
0:40 ahh that gave me anxiety
👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
Am i the only one who was expecting that thing to just POPout and hit him in the face? I also like the other method lol.
I like your first method, it made me cringe!
👍
60 cents a piece and they are CHEAP?
If it is this hard for him then it is impossible for users.
Almost grabbed a flat head 😅
A cheap bmw part?! That's impossible.
Only 60 cents? U sure thats a oem bmw part??
You have to pull emblem out PARALLEL, strip idea is not very good. Better work on one pin and another, slowly. But parallel is key!
😂😂😂
1st method is the only right way. id not recommend the 2nd method unless you want a roundel on your forehead 😂
Lol
2:45
he's talking too much
Its a bitch if the pins snap!
Lol "the right way"
😂😂 7 munite . Alors avec un chiffon et tournevis 30 seconde
It’s disturbing how you ruin paint job with srewdriver just for fun.
Please put a trigger warning next time on the “how not to do it” video. It was obvious what you were going to do, but no amount of prep time was sufficient to get through that segment safely. Perhaps it was intensified as my e93 is in the same black and I’m sitting in front of my car as you used that screwdriver.
Ha!Ha!....joke price.
A PLASTIC or 'POT METAL' emblem on a BMW!?
Oh the revulsion.........
🤔😳😲👎😡😂
7 min video of how to replace emblem ?!?! Srsly ?!?! How stupid do you think we are???
Don’t ever do stand up
my jaw dropped with the first guy hahahaha
