Control utilised red lighting very well! I absolutely loved the game but had to eventually put it down.... I adored the theme, graphics and writing of it all but the lack of choice in terms of difficulty settings proved to be too much for me. I’ve never been much of a gamer until Covid hit and sadly I couldn’t hang on long enough to beat it... absolutely pisses me off! On another note, Hellblade is fucking badass and I’m in love!

I do like the more darkly abstract designs of familiar gods and monsters. Evokes more the idea that they're primal forces of unforgiving nature/cosmos made incarnate.
Since you'll lose all progress if you die too much I'm terrified of continuing with this boss after 2 deaths- I'd never play it all over again, at least not in a long time. Even worse to do that just because you didn't get to finish it the first time.
When I had reached that boss, I've had died quite a few times already and the threat of permadeath really put me in that same defiant head space that Senua is in at 0:35. "I have gotten this far, I wouldn't let some skeleton dog/boar thing stop me. No way in Hel!" At this point of the game, I was so brutally immersed, I *_felt_* it when she was pacing back and forth in anticipation of the fight. I probably aged a couple of years from that fight. But Senua survived, one step closer to her goal, which made it all worthit. I'd trade any 100 hour sandbox game for that feeling this fucking amazing 7 hour game gave me.
The best part about that is that *the game does not have permadeath.* That’s right, the one and only time the game gave you blatant instructions, it was lying. Just like how the voices in her head can’t be trusted, the game itself can’t even be trusted. It put you in her shoes with the threat of permanent death, but since in reality this is all in her mind anyways, she has no real threat of death, only one made up in her mind.
This is the best enemy in the game. First it kills you in the darkness, then in the battle it's really unlike any other. Creeping back, making you blind, not just fighting with a sword but devouring and crushing you. So incredible!

What can we do to get this game nominated for GOTY, it will never win the whole thing. But it will push future sales for sure and encourage other developers to take risks. Because this is what Senua's Sacrifice is, a huge risk that paid off.

I'm very confused with this part of the game. I mean, I'm guessing the simple answer is she has a severe case of psychosis. But the voice that she hears is every villain. It was her father, it was this beast, and then a little bit of Hela.
I agree, but I do actually think that the psychosis answer is the right one, without being cheap. If you watch the dev diaries they did, they talked throughout development to people with psychosis, and how confusing and jumbled voice hearing can be. It seems like her father traumatized her to the point that he just became the voice of everything harmful in her life, real or imagined. I can't be certain, but that's how I see it, anyway

When it goes backwards into the darkness for a while I thought it was still in front of me since the camera didn't follow it, so I intently stared ahead expecting it to pop out at me but I heard and saw it jump BEHIND me and somehow dodged in the split second I let out a shout of surprise, that was super riveting

I really like how they made her get really pissed before the fight , growling because shes so mad there trying to take him away from her . When she was on the bridge against the giant she was scared but she still had him but here she didn't hesitate

They are also massive giants. Skoll will eat the Sun, and Hati will eat the moon, Jormungand circles the planet with his body and Fenrir will devour Odin.
The fact that we don't see Fenrir body at the end and just Senua walking away, makes me wonder did Fenrir survive and run away? It would scary if that is the case. The ambiguity of the ending of this boss fight makes me question whether if you actually slayed the wolf.

I'm playing this with auto difficulty. I died once when fighting it in the dark but can actually parry its attack to give you boost in damage. Awesome fight. After this boss there's another fight with bunch of guards on the bridge which is depressing lol. Awesome game. I haven't finished it by the time of this writing lol.

Just gotta say that the lack of signs, that you are damaging this boss, makes it a long and annoying fight. The boss is not that hard, it's a pretty simple set of moves you have use to win. I don't know what difficulty this guy fought at, but my battle felt frustratingly longer then 7 min

Mm... I still don't buy this is Fenrir. Nothing about his design really fits the myth. It makes far more sense in what Druth tells you, that this is actually Garm. It fits the aesthetic of being in a dark cave and he is closer to a hound guarding the underworld (hence where Senua is going). Plus, Garm is just generally unknown by many and I like them using more obscure ideas rather than popular ones.

im not hating on this game, i think its really great, just i kind of agree the boss seemed a little simplistic, there wasnt really any evolving mechanics, the fight just seemed repetitive, usually a boss would get harder as you got the boss lower in health, again though this game is more about an experience of fear and psychological horror, still this fight was a little boring i have to agree

I died five times through all the game, it seemed ok
Dezzyx when you start dying, just pause it and the close the application. You start from right before the boss fight and the rot doesn't grow.
Actually it turns out that u can die as many time as u want... the game won't reset or delete your progress ..

There litterly an achievement for beating this call Tamed the Beast which you get for Defeat Fenrir.

one small tip for this boss fight: use heavy attacks instead of light attacks. heavy attacks dont bounce off when they land on the boss
Youre supposed to...hold triangle...use the glowy charge attack. You dont have to rely on the mirror

That's what happens when you only spam dodges and light attacks on Hard difficulty.
You're supposed to use heavy attacks since light attacks don't pierce through his skin. No wonder it takes 7+ minutes.

Its a good game with good bosses, but people saying this is the best made boss ever. People do know dark souls and bloodborne exist, right?

This is NOT Fenrir, its Garm
Mm... I still don't buy this is Fenrir. Nothing about his design really fits the myth. It makes far more sense in what Druth tells you, that this is actually Garm. It fits the aesthetic of being in a dark cave and he is closer to a hound guarding the underworld (hence where Senua is going).
Plus, Garm is just generally unknown by many and I like them using more obscure ideas rather than popular ones.

im not hating on this game, i think its really great, just i kind of agree the boss seemed a little simplistic, there wasnt really any evolving mechanics, the fight just seemed repetitive, usually a boss would get harder as you got the boss lower in health, again though this game is more about an experience of fear and psychological horror, still this fight was a little boring i have to agree
GARM! not fenrir and they are not the same thing
Hey dummy, that's Garm, not Fenrir. Fenrir doesn't guard the gates of Hel, Garm does. The game doesn't mention Garm except maybe in the lorestones but Garm is mentioned specifically multiple times just before this fight.
Chill out man, he probably didn't even know it was Garm since the trophy name was Fenrir, ok, he probably got Fenrir from the trophy achievement.

The achievement you get after beating the boss literally says it’s fenrir
The achievement is wrong. They say half a dozen times in the game that its Garm (Garmr). There's more than one wolf in Norse mythology. Fenrir is just the mainstream one the kids have heard of.

@Pug Pals you can get more damage if you parry
If you avoid doing somersaults and only dodge, your attacks become cleaner and faster, so you can do the somersault game completely useless

I was enjoying the game so far..then this happens. Guess I am not finnishing this game any time soon. I have like a Dragon/Dinosaur Phobia but seriously thats why I don't play skyrim, panzer dragon and stuff like that. I know, pathetic 😢.
