Connectivity and stable connectivity are the main issues. Great design and a natural feel to the hard and certainly many capabilities. The bottom line is staying connected and getting connection with the mini M1 Mac.
That’s really unfortunate! Maybe I’ll need to invest into the original version since it has the USB receiver. Might help with the connection issues. Thank you for your input, that really helps!
I second that, just got this and the mx keys last week. This mouse sucks, jitters, lags and the app gesture button went from horrible to not working. Its a pretty mouse but nearly un usable. I find myself reaching for the trackpad more than the mouse, on my M1 MBA.
This problem appeared lately I think from an OS update with my setup. Kept stalling and unresponsive with Bluetooth on my MacBook Pro 15 2016. I switched to a Unifying adapter from my previous MX mouse and solved this problem completely! Bluetooth seems to be the problem.
The issue I've heard a lot about is that the scrolling can be inaccurate and not register your scrolling at irregular points (possibly linked to the whole magnet based build of the scroll). No youtube reviews I've seen seem to address it, so I'm not even sure if it is that big an issue or nitpicking. Not sure if this is also relating to the original MX 3 or the For Mac version. Since I might be upgrading to a PC instead of sticking with Mac, if anything I’d consider the original MX 3.
You know, I’ve heard about this problem but honestly I’ve never had these problems at all in terms on connectivity. Even now that I have a new MacBook Pro, it doesn’t have any connection issues which seems to be the main complaint. I hope I’m not the exception!
I had this issue. Had no choice but to return it. Tried every fix and work around but it's a design flaw with the hardware. No one has proved it isn't an issue while there's tons of video proof of the problem.
Yeah I’ve tried to fine tune all my settings on this mouse with that app and even with that sensitivity setting, it didn’t do much for me sadly. Thank you for the suggestion tho!
Really fair and balanced review, and cool mouse! The thumb-wheel assignments seem particularly useful.... Honestly, I wasn't aware of a mouse with so much versatility, although I am a big fan of Logi and the quality of their accessories. Good to know what's out there 😊 -- thanks, David!
Love your review! I Love my 3S! The battery is insane, and the look and feel of using it is amazing! Those clicks finally gone, the wife can sleep in peace now!
I love this mouse, however, this review did not mention one major issue with this mouse... the main scroll wheel (the one on top for vertical scrolling) is unresponsive, and despite what is said at 4:08 in this video, the main wheel DOES have the problem mentioned with the thumbwheel... with either the USB or Bluetooth connection, it will become unresponsive and lag if you quickly switch between scrolling up and down... e.g. I'm quickly moving up and down with the scroll wheel and it translates to almost zero motion (and sometimes too much motion) on the screen... it's very inconsistent and not precise... this shouldn't happen on any mouse, let alone a high-end mouse from an awesome company like Logitech. I've tried changing the settings in the Options Plus control panel, disabling/enabling smooth scrolling, and pressing the button on top to switch between the Ratchet and Free Spin options; none of these changes fixed the issue. It's unfortunate that the vertical scroll wheel has this issue, because it's otherwise perfect. The unresponsiveness when suddenly changing direction on the scroll wheel was driving me crazy, so I had to return it. I really hope there's some way to fix this, but I've heard from others that Logitech does not even acknowledge the issue :(
Hello! Yes, unfortunately the Mac version (the one I'm reviewing in the video) does not have any USB connection so I was not aware that so many people were having problems with connection. In my review for Logitech's MX Mechanical Mini, I do discover and mention the connection problems in the video. It seems to be a problem with wireless interference using the USB receiver which is really surprising because Logitech's wireless gaming products are EXCELLENT on USB. The only way to use this is on Bluetooth in which i have 0 problems. Thanks for the input on your experience!
@@SideofTech Thanks for the reply! Sorry for all the edits, hopefully that didn't flood your inbox with emails... I'm never satisfied with what I write, I always feel like making a change lol
New sub here! Just brought this mouse today. Cannot wait to hook it up tomorrow and start using it. Hopefully it will help with editing with my current trackball mouse my thumb gets tired. Great video!!
Thanks for clarifying! The word for mac is misleading if the differences are only the color or dongle. I ordered for mac version and returned it. Primarily because I am working from home and I use two computers simultaneously all the time, one for work and my personal. The Bluetooth works only for one device at at time. I am now waiting to see if my regular version works with my KVM switch or not.
Fantastic review and i will be going out tomorrow to buy the mouse. Can you please tell do Logitech do an equivalent keyboard for the mac? As i have the original apple keyboard and mouse that require batteries and the battery life of these products is pathetic to the point where im changing my rechargeable batteries every 4 days or so. Thanks
Hello Theo, thank you! My suggestion would be to either upgrade to the newer apple magic keyboard or Logitech makes the MX Master Keys keyboard which comes in full size and also TKL. I’ve actually checked out the Logitech Master Keys in store and it’s a great alternative to the Apple Magic keyboard!
Ironically, the MX Master 3 for Mac does support the dongle. Using the unify dongle from my MX Anywhere 2S, and the Unify utility app downloaded from Logitech's website, I was able to pair my mouse to it.
I purchased this at Best Buy two weeks ago with no prior research and it’s the best purchase ever. I have wrist pain with my Normal mouse but not this one. I have noticed sometimes scrolling it does tend to over scroll but it’s still the best mouse ever

That’s a great point, it is rather high now that I think about it, hopefully with a 4 version they’ll redesign it a little! Thanks for your comment, I really appreciate it!

@@SideofTech wow! Thank you for the quick response. I’ve been doing so much research on this mouse. I recently purchased the M1 Mac Mini and am using a chorded mouse with it. Once again, thank you for your quick response.
Absolutely! So in my opinion I actually go over this in my trackpad vs mouse video and I do specifically talk about the weight of the mouse. This is one thing you’ll definitely get used to though so don’t worry too much about it. We all use super light mouses at work or are used to it if a light mouse was your previous one so just let it break in, and also adjust the sensitivity, that might help so you don’t have to move the mouse around a lot. Hope this helps!
Hello! Yes, I use my MX3 all the time with my M1 Max MBP and haven’t found any problems in terms of connectivity issues. I know others are having problems but I am not sure why. Hope this helps!
I probably should have added this in the first place haha. Just added the monitor I have in the description, check it out! You lucked out that it's on sale right now 😄
Hello! Unfortunately I have heard people with laptops having trouble with the connection. Only thing I can think of is to disconnect the device and reconnect it. Also try to keep the Logitech Options open and running in the background. If all else fails, the original MX Master 3 might work better for you since it comes with a bluetooth receiver that should boost your connection signal. Good luck!
@@SideofTech Thanks for the tips. I did all this and nothing worked. In my opinion, this is the worst mouse there is (because the performance doesn't equal the value). Unfortunately, in all the videos I saw about this product, on various channels, nobody talked about this defect :'(
Hello! The mouse has a button where you can select what connection you want it to be. So you can connect to 3 devices and switch between them if you connected to them previously. It’s a really cool feature and I use it all the time to switch between my MacBook and ipaf
Hello! You know, I’m not too sure but something tells me you can do it using a combination of some button press and the scroll wheel. You can always play around with the Logi Options app and see if you can set a button on the mouse to zoom in and out
For the main scroll wheel, I just bump the sensitivity (I like to be able to fast scroll generally) and change the direction to where if you scroll down, it scrolls down. The thumb wheel I basically keep it default, because sometimes I feel like it does overscroll so I wouldn't need to customize it all that much. I hope this helps!
hi there. I just got a 16" M1pro MBP and I need a better editing mouse. Most reviews say this Logi MX Master 3 is a good one. I use Premiere mostly but I will learn FCP X soon...is it true that the Mac version (maybe just marketing!) has a better bluetooth connection than the regular MX? or is just marketing? That dongle could be useful but my new mac only has USB C. Also the Mac version has comes with preset buttons layout for FCP and Premiere (and othe mac software)...the regular MX doesn't have them? or I need to set them up? which one would you recommend for my new mac? thanks so much!
I currently just got a new MacBook as well! Congrats! I switched my MX Master unto the new computer and it works perfectly. I never get any dropouts or anything like that. I honestly think it might be marketing because I’ve used the original MX Master and I’ve noticed no difference. I hope this helps!
@@SideofTech hey! thanks for the response...I wanted to wait for the new iMacs to be announced (my old maxed up iMac 27" late 203 is not good for 4k), but I decided to get a m1pro with only 16GB Ram and 1tb SSD...I will give it a try. Premiere still has lots of optimization to do for the m1 chip for sure...I will learn FCP X soon...I hear is faster...this laptop renders 2.5 times faster in HD than my iMac but the Premiere version I'm using (V15) is NOT optimized for the m1 yet...anyway...about the mouse! Some people complain that the bluetooth connection is not stable on mac and that the scroll wheel is not responsive...but your experiences have been good...I want the mac version because it looks great and also has presets for Premiere and FCP X...I will have to download the logitech software...I'm tempted to getting it if there are no serious glitches...what do you edit with? thanks!
If anything I’d suggest buying from Amazon (link in the bio) or Best Buy because they have some of the best return policies out right now. It’s so easy to return products if you don’t like them. I currently edit on FCP!
I'm gonna run out and grab one in a couple of minutes. I own the MX Master II and recently it seems like I can't use it without clicking the right button occasionally and it's driving me crazy. I hope the new one doesn't do this.
I hope you enjoy your experience, as some people have messaged me saying they are having problems with theirs. But I myself have not experienced any latency issues or phantom clicks or connectivity issues. I’m currently running it on the newest MacBook Pro with no problem, but I hope this insight helps and make sure you buy from a place with a good return policy just in case!
@@SideofTech So I picked up both and I'm gonna do my own comparison to see which one I like. So far it looks like I'm keeping both so returns probably won't be an issue. Even so I got them from Best Buy so returns are no problem. Thanks for the vid it helped.
Hello! I have medium/small chubby hands and the mouse fits me like a glove. When I first used it, it was kind of jarring to use but once I got used to it, it felt like a dream to use. Hope this helps!
@@SideofTech Thanks, my hands are not chubby but they are 17cm long, what I assume are small-medium. I think I'll try using a tablet and if it doesn't work I'll try the MX, have you used (or did you consider) a tablet to work on editing?
I’ve actually used my iPad Pro 2018 to edit videos back then when I didn’t have a good computer at the time, and it actually was really nice! I didn’t get to use the MX Master with it however, but I have used the mouse to type up spreadsheets and word documents and the latency was amazing. Something about having that small screen with pro motion and the mouse was so good! I hope this helps.
Absolutely you can! Only difference is that the normal one uses a usb receiver and if I’m not mistaken you can also use Bluetooth as well. Links to both mouse are in the description!
I love mine but the connection issues are indeed a thing and are incredibly annoying and break your work-flow/gaming. Thus this makes it a not a slam dunk. It can be a deal breaker depending on how bad the stutters are. Also, the mouse can't operate with a wire. It is always wireless even when charging which makes it a huge missed opportunity for those that do experience the above problems. I have worked with many wireless mice before, never once had i such a disruptive experience due to connection issues. I have some cheap ass crap that i have on the back end and they work flawlessly. Big thumbs down for the Logitech name.
Yeah I agree with you, that’s why in one of my recent videos I go over why I switched to a gaming mouse for my everyday mouse. Check it out if you have some time! 👌🏼
It’s too big and high. Not comfortable at all. In the video, you are using a wrist pad. Is that because this mouse is too high? I never needed a wrist rest pad for any other mouse I used before. For this expensive mouse, I had to buy a wrist pad to lift up my wrist high enough to use it, otherwise, my base of the palm and wrist are in the air. The other downside is that this mouse is too heavy. I really wish I could love it, but it is not for anyone , especially female with small hands. I will buy a MX anywhere later
I totally get what you mean, I even mention the discomfort in my most recent video covering a trackpad vs mouse. It's definitely a mouse that needs to grow on you because it is big and bulky. I also don't necessarily use the wrist rest to keep it more level, it's more for health purposes. If I don't use the wrist rest, to me I don't feel too much of a difference. I will be doing an MX Anywhere mouse review down the line if you're interested in that. Thanks for commenting!
@@SideofTech Thanks for your reply. After using this mouse with a high wrist rest, I actually start to like it. I do think for female with small hands, Wrist rest is a must have accessory. I am going to keep the mouse. The best thing is the quiet click. It was very pleasant sound to hear.
As the sensor of this mouse is only capable of working at 125 Hz bus speed, it's no wonder the charge holds for so long. And also no wonder why this mouse is absolutely NOT precise for ANY quick moves while navigating
crap piece of hw. scrolling just does work 70% of all time. sorry. nobody is talking about that. i noticed that after one minute of use. like the major function does not work proper.
Am I the only one who uses shift and the normal scroll wheel to scroll sideways? In my opinion, this is way easier and I have way better control.

Like those speakers what’s the brand?
Hello! These speakers are from Audioengine. They are the HD3 model, hope that helps!
I dont know if I can give up the full surface of the magic to get back to the wheel (two actually) of this one.
That full surface is hard to give up!
Have you had any experience using this mouse with a new M1 MBP? I've heard there are issues...?
Hello! Yes, I use my MX3 all the time with my M1 Max MBP and haven’t found any problems in terms of connectivity issues. I know others are having problems but I am not sure why. Hope this helps!
What LG screen are you using, looking for something for new mac book pro.
I probably should have added this in the first place haha. Just added the monitor I have in the description, check it out! You lucked out that it's on sale right now 😄
Is it good for medium hands like 6.5 inch?
Definitely have to get used to the shape but yes! Just have to break in the mouse first and you should be good to go 😄
I have the MX Master 3 and the MacBook gets a feeling of delay. how to solve?
Unfortunately, in all the videos I saw about this product, on various channels, nobody talked about this defect :'(
Aww man! I myself haven’t had any problems since I use a Mac mini. It seems to be a common problem with the MacBooks which is unfortunate…
Logitech MX Master 3, can it be used on imac and macbook at the same time and always stay connected to both devices?
Hello! The mouse has a button where you can select what connection you want it to be. So you can connect to 3 devices and switch between them if you connected to them previously. It’s a really cool feature and I use it all the time to switch between my MacBook and ipaf
Can you zoom in on applications/ web pages with this mouse? Magic Mouse only allows you to double tap to a predetermined zoom setting only?
Hello! You know, I’m not too sure but something tells me you can do it using a combination of some button press and the scroll wheel. You can always play around with the Logi Options app and see if you can set a button on the mouse to zoom in and out
What settings do you use on the scroll wheel? For context, I'm coming from a magic mouse.
@@TheFandangovideoguy How did it go? It's working as expected? I'm also wondering to buy one for my setup
@@CraazynBR I decided to buy the original MX1-much cheaper. May try the MX3 later this year. The MX is ok...maybe the MX3 is better.
It only connects with Bluetooth?
Hello! This specific model is Bluetooth only but the mx master 3 or 3s is both Bluetooth and Receiver 😄
Must pick it up... thx you
Thanks for watching!
which software do you use for video editing?
Hello! I currently use FCP 😄
What is that wrist support you are using?
Kindly advise
Hello! I am currently using the Delta Hub Carpio. Pretty nifty little thing!
@@SideofTech thank you very much 👍
I'm gonna run out and grab one in a couple of minutes. I own the MX Master II and recently it seems like I can't use it without clicking the right button
occasionally and it's driving me crazy.
No problem!
what size is your monitor?
38 in ultrawide monitor!
Hi! Can you share what is the length of your hands?
I hope this helps.
bro I have MacBook can I use normal version please reply
Absolutely you can! Only difference is that the normal one uses a usb receiver and if I’m not mistaken you can also use Bluetooth as well. Links to both mouse are in the description!
where can i get that wrist rest?
The wrist rest is called the Carpio 2.0. I believe the company is called Delta Hub. Hope this helps!
@@SideofTech Thanks alot!
Hey David - one comment, the cycling color on the pc behind you is distracting. Takes away from your presentation.
Sorry about that, it’s all corrected now 😅
An alternative that might be superior for some folks - Logitech g604
Love this suggestion. Their gaming mice have great tracking!
once u go mx master, it won't be the same using different mouse.
100% agree!
I’m very sorry it’s not working out for you!
@@SideofTech and you have no lags with scrolling up ? Down woks fine. If you change quick direction to up scrolling its starts to lag
I have no problems at all, it works perfectly other than the minor problems when I side scroll. It tends to overscroll a little.
@@SideofTech thank you. I might try one new. Stay healthy! One sub more! Great content
You too!
Major drawback- not for lefties!
Aww man, yeah seriously!
It's not worth the money at all. 10 bucks mice are way better than this one
Aww I’m sorry you feel this way! Definitely not a mouse for everyone. Thank you for watching the video 🤗
Lol yeah right
@@Baker19911 I’m serious. I dont enjoy using it at all
