Warlock and Fighter - Classes Polearm Master and Sentinel are feats. Pact of the Blade is a Warlock Sublcass. Battle Master is a Fighter Subclass. DnD 5e questions like this can be found on forums and the game book resources are available online. Though since htose have the book they'll have more options than BG3 so you may want to see what subclasses are available in BG3 when you look into 5e builds. @@Superslayinsteve Also the first two Baldur's Gates are only nominally like 3 in the sense that you control a party of adventurers and travel across the world of Faerun. Beyond that the originals run on the 2nd edition version of DnD while BG 3 runs on 5th edition. So they play completely differently. I love both personally though.
People finding and doing this builds are true pro players of these games i just flow into the game normally i don't have the "intelligence" to find out this combinations etc
"flow into the game" is such a cool way of phrasing that, I'ma steal it (because that's exactly what I do, I just go and pick whatever seems cool at the time and things just work out or I die lol)
I would improve it by taking an extra 3 levels in Warlock for pact of the blade and its extra attack. Because the pact of the blade passive isn't actually called "extra attack" it stacks with the extra attack from other classes, so you get 3 attacks per action. You also get proficiency with any weapon and get to use your charisma modifier for it, so you can skip the two-weapon fighting and use a charisma-based greatsword.
@@LankyNoodlePersonally I like Polearm Mastery since you have added reach and, anybody that comes into range gives you an opportunity attack. Plus, a successful attack allows you to attack again as a bonus action
Greatsword doesn't allow you to attack as a bonus action. So it's 3 attacks vs 4. While the damage might seem better, your CHA mod being added to TWO weapons instead of one is better in the long run.
I did something similar with an Oathbreaker paladin and a necromancer party. First it's lights out, then black tentacles come up from the ground and grab my enemies, then me and a platoon of the undead swarm our enemies in the dark.
Take the Bard levels first to get Extra Attack sooner, and you can take magic initiate for Warlock at level 4 to get hex and eldrich blast. Now you have full functionality 2 levels earlier, missing only the critical bonus of Great Old One and the bonuses of Mage Slayer in exchange for being able to spend 2 levels in another class. Add 6 levels in fighter to get your extra feat back or splash 3 levels in Thief Rogue to get cunning actions, a second bonus action, and sneak attacks on melee
But isn't Devil Sight pretty key in making the whole darkness abuse work? The invocations feel more important than the spells, for this strat. Spells are "nice to have", by comparison. But perhaps I'm missing the point of the build.
Choose Human for shield proficiency, an extra skill, and so Devil's Sight isn't making part of your racial passives obsolete. Start as Bard, going for Bard 6 Warlock 6. Do NOT choose Deception or Performance as starting skills or background. Choose Duelling fighting style; Warlock's Pact Weapon only applies to the main hand so you don't want 2 weapon fighting. Choose Agonising Blast and Devil's Sight for invocations. Go Str8, Dex14, Con16, Int8, Wis10, Cha17. Choose Actor for first Feat to increase Cha and gain Expertise in Deception and Performance, then second Feat increase Cha to 20.
@@Slenderguy56 you want extra attack asap, so either you go 1 bard then 5 warlock or you go straight 6 bard, 1 bard ->5 warlock lets you use your 18 cha to hit instead of your 14 dex and a key componant of this build is the devil's sight/darkness combo from warlock, so go that way
@@Slenderguy56 if it was me i'd go warlock to level 5, then when i hit level 6, respect to start 1 bard then 5 warlock, it's only 100g which is nothing by then and it'll feell more powerful for levels 1-5.
@@Slenderguy56 That's a complicated question. You want to get Extra Attack quickly (Bard6 or Warlock 5). BUT you also want to quickly get Medium Armour (Bard 3) because your AC is garbage. BUT you also want to get Pact of the Blade (Warlock 3) so you can use Charisma for attack rolls instead of your 14 Dex. BUT you also want to get to Bard 5 so your Inspirations come back on short rest. I would start as Bard for the skills and dialogue then immediately go for 2 levels of Warlock for Agonising Blast and Devil's Sight. Don't bother with light armour and have someone cast Mage Armour on you. Then you can either go the melee path by taking Warlock up to 5, or the ranged path by taking Bard up to 6. Either way you're going to spend Act1 at range using Eldritch Blast and an offhand shot from dual handcrossbow.
I’d suggest going 6 bard 5 lock and 1 war cleric. You get an extra attack from 5th lock level and a lot of extra proficiencies including heavy armor from war cleric
If you are going for an evil run, Shar spear has the darkness spell that can be cast indefinitely without spending a spell slot. You can equip it to your support so they can cast the spell so you don't have to spend concentration
I got you one. 2 Paladin 5 Warlock 5 Bard. You start as paladin for 1 for heavy armor proficiency. You can go any subclass but we want that hag hair so skip vengeance unless you wanna be oathbreaker or pay 1000 gold, then we go to warlock 5 for pact of the blade then paladin 2 (we're going to be sword and boarding; also if you go sword and board I suggest going the small body type because the muscular one looks dumb af when using a shield) And we have warlock spell slots. (You can also start Pally 1 Warlock 1 Bard 1 if you want those bard dialogue options before level 8) and then you go up to Bard 5. You now have a high ac 20 charisma bardwaradin who has insane smites because of his high charisma which also affects his sword. He can smite everyday of the week, he has sword flourishes that recharge on short rest. You can rp as a devotion paladin that got his powers from an eldritch being; that mixes fairly well with the hero archtype that sword bard has going on. Or you can go ancient paladin with the archfey patron and kinda be like the champion of the forrest. tldr: Paladin 1 into warlock 5 into Paladin 2 into Bard 5
If it has to be a bardlock... 5 warlock, 7 bard. Goo lock, pact of blade, great weapon master. Pump Cha. If you dont want to be gith maybe take first lvl fighter. Warlock 5 + bard 6 gives 3 total attacks on tactition and below. For honour or endgame consider 2 pala,3-4warlock goo+blade, 6-7bard -> heavy armor, charisma SAD, high DC and smites for days!
Take sharpshooter and duel wield hand crossbows, now with ranged double attack flourish the ring that adds d4 psychic dmg if concentrating and the ilithid power that does the same you'll really pack in the flavour. Nothing scarier than hearing the bolts whiz at you as you are plunged in darkness
Zariel tiefling for Thaumaturgy seems like a clear improvement right off the top. Not to mention going 3 into Warlock for at least Pact of the Blade, taking Agonizing Blast, and considering going all the way to level 5 Warlock seems also very strong given that this build is suggesting going a martial Bard subclass. This gives you 3 attacks with your main weapon, powerful spell casting, tons of utility, an absolute dialogue machine. If you go a 6/6 split you end up getting both mid range class features as well that can prove useful, otherwise you can go 5 Lock/7 Bard for access to a 4th level spell.
Been thinking off a build using sentinel. Devil sight and darkness. Ad lvl 2 rogue or lvl 3 gloom stalker. For a bonus action hide. Use darkess and hide on a enemy. Use a glaive or pike. They are forced to move away from you, as you are hidden. And then you use reaction to attack. Them. When hit, they lose all movement. If they are still in darkness theycant do anything. To far for a melee, to blind for a ranged attack.
My personal bardlock build is fiendlock blade pact 5/lore bard 7, with agonizing blast, repelling blast, and devil’s sight invocation. Fiend gives you the temp hit points and command spell, agonizing/repelling blast makes your eldritch blasts hit harder and push enemies back, and lore bard gives you more spell versatility than swords, plus cutting words as a reaction and magical secrets at level 6. Plus, you still get the extra attack with your pact weapon from having at least 5 levels of warlock. Also for feats I usually take ASI for both
If non-honor mode i'd go bladelock 5, swords 6 and 1 level elsewhere. That 1 level can be vengeance pal for inquisitors might, war cleric for war priest or rogue for sneak attack.
I currently have a loth sworn drow bard then multiclassed into rouge assassin. And boy is it fun. I leveled my bard so that i could do another attack. And with two hand crossbows i pretty much can hit a target four times in a single turn
Outside of honor mode: 6 swords bard, 1 wizard, 5 blade pact warlock. Titanstring bow, strength elixirs, stack charisma. Key items are Circlet of arcane synergy, band of the mystic scoundrel. Able to ranged slashing flourish 3 times per round for crazy damage while being able to cast a lot of spells as bonus actions and attacks and spells both scale off charisma (can get it to 24 with hag’s hair and the mirror). Only can do 2 flourishes per turn on honor mode and there’s probably better versions there but you’d need high dex as well if not warlock.
Love the classes in this game. It's great to have class actually matter even in dialogue options and while exploring. And being able to multiclass is so fun to try out new combinations and see what other people come up with. I hope Larian makes some good expansions and I hope their future games use this same play style.
Bard is straight up broken man. So many fights I've gained advantage in or just straight up skipped dimple because I was able to silver tounge my way out of it
Alternative build, First level in fighter for strength\con prof and defence fighting style. (Some enemies like Minotaurs and steel watch force you to make strength saves for concentration) weird I know. 5 levels in warlock for pact of blade extra attack respec fully into charisma (it’s your attack/damage stat now) hag hair + 1feat for 20 charisma 6 levels of sword bard for spell slots and multi-attach which stacks with blade pact for 3 attacks. Your spell list still sucks but you could replace the level of fighter with 1 level of wizard and learn haste+shield from scrolls.
Get 5 levels of warlock for improved pact of the blade - that's 3 attacks per action combined with extra attack. Get GWM and use a spear with both hands. The one you get from Shadowheart's evil path if BiS. Finally, impress the murder tribunal for an absolutely busted piece of chest armor that gives ALL your enemies around you vulnerability to piercing - your main source of damage. This also works great for the classic edgeknight build (7 oathbreaker pala / 5 blade warlock).
the devil went down to georgia but the boy lost the fiddling contest. Lorewise bardlock is an awesome class as it essentially makes you the first blues singer in all of faerun
If you’re doing two-weapon fighting, then the Susssur Dagger would be excellent for shutting down mages. It casts Silence on a target on hit, so attacking under darkness would silence them, preventing further spellcasting, as well as helping break concentration
Not that the intention is to be the damage, but I really feel Agonizing+Repelling Blast are just staples for any ‘Lock build, given the sheer damage and battlefield control, and Ranger+Rogue just feels like the better melee darkness build. However, it’s always fun to tinker with new and interesting play styles.
Better-Blaster-Bardlock Take 3 levels of warlock. Pact boon is inconsequential Pick up darkness, eldritch blast, and the devils sight/repelling blast invocations. Level bard until 6, taking lore bard Between cutting words being untargetable in a cloud of darkness and a repelling eldritch blast to keep targets away and push them through hazards it's tough to beat the raw control of the battlefield you have
I would probably add one more level in warlock for pact of the blade so you can divest dexterity and get points in other stats plus second level warlock spells and slots but your choice. Baldirs gate 3 is so much more about when you get things than usual dnd so having bard stuff faster can mean things like swords bard in the majority of act one and vice versa
Only thing I'd improve is maybe taking more levels in warlock to get pact of the blade first, so you're always attacking with Charisma and don't need to invest in dex. Another thing you could do is delay the build by a level or two and start with paladin, for the extra weapon proficiencies, smite, and heavy armor so you can dump dex extra hard.
I'd tweak this a little - imo, go zariel tiefling for the smites, and split your levels 6 and 6. The warlock and bard extra attacks stack, so you can end the game with 3 attacks a round before haste.
Bard soloclass with College of Swords is so ridiculously overpowered in BG3. Get haste, Flourish ranged attack 2 with wisdom as modifer, all inspiration gets restored after short rest. From level 6 on that is like 8 attacks per round.
Personally i went 2 levels warlock pack of the fiend with the 2 abilities to buff eldrich blast (obviously) and then the rest in bard with the collage of lore to get fireball and counterspell at level 6 bard. Its a lot of fun tbh
Sink atleast 3 more into warlock taking the pact of the blade. Then you can bind your weapon which will now use charisma instead of dex. You can't be disarmed, and you get an extra attack with you bound weapon. Bring it up to 3 total attacks per action utilizing charisma as their modifier...
Since I was a wood elf, I had to improvise. 5 warlock for pact of the blade/darkness/extra attack, and went 3 bard for school of the sword. I'm excited to see how it goes
Should be fine. Bard as starting class for more skills. Bard 6 Warlock 5 for 3 attacks. Keep in mind Pact of the Blade is only for your main hand, so either use a shield (which means College of Valour, or 1 level in a class with shield prof), or deal with your offhand using str/dex.
@@OniGanon id stay CoS and get dex gloves that way you can also use dbl hand xbows and get dmg on you off hands, grab acuity helm and mystic scoundrel ring and you become one of the best controllers in the game. You can gain 6 stacks of +1 to spell attack/dc upclose or from afar with ranged flourish and then use you bonus action to cast an enchantment or illusion spell like vicious mockery/hold person/Dissonant Whispers etc if you hold person next turn you get 4 crits if ur up close
My favorite thing to do is go mephstofilies (or however you spell it) 😅 and do the little hireling glitch with flame blade and now you got two perms flame blades at a bard 🤗
Maybe 3 levels warlock, 1 level wizard, and then the rest swords bard. I might just be silly, but caster level would be slightly lower, but you could get charisma modifier to your melee attacks and pact of the blade in general. In which case, 5 in warlock, 1 in wiz, and 6 swords bard. That sounds fun, but might need a certain warped headband
I like the pure Warlock builds but I took two levels of Bard through Act's 1 and 2. Jack of all Trades stacking with Guidance from Pact of the Tome and Dark One's Own Luck from The Fiend patron means you are completely broken in dialogue, but most importantly Song of Rest means potentially 8 spell uses per long rest. Though once you hit level 11 Warlock can use 9 spells per long rest so for combat proficiency it's actually better to go full Warlock at that point.
I know these are tightly edited, but there is a slight latency when pausing. Maybe in the future you could allot a little more time to stats and the ilk. Love the guides!

Honestly just go fightlock. 2 levels into fighter for the surge and the rest into blade lock, maybe throw pally in there for divine smite. Take Drow as the race for darkness racial spell. Go into the darkness cloud and be protected from most ranged attacks and have advantage in melee combat on both the receiving and giving ends.
Make sure to choose pact of the blade for binding to Warlock Weapons and the additional attack at Warlock 5 which stacks with Extra Attack due to it being distinct from the Extra Attack feature
Fey warlock w pact of the blade and valor bard also play nice together! Endless status effects and support options from fey, hex+EB and access to spells that provide more effective front-lining from other warlock levels, and standard bard tricks + extra attacks. My Tav was constantly changing from melee to support as the situation needed, and equally good at both!
Hmm, no opinion, I just prefer getting my extra attack sooner than later. So I'd hard level to 5 as Warlock with Blade Pact. Or to lvl 6 as Sword Bard. Then grab the other. I like a 6/6 or 7/5 split. Also, the extra attacks from Warlock Blade and Sword Bard stack
I did something similar with an Oathbreaker paladin and a necromancer party. First it's lights out, then black tentacles come up from the ground and grab my enemies, then me and a platoon of the undead swarm our enemies in the dark.
Well... I have a rou/lock that slices up in the dark. Devil sight, darkness. Bracers of balance(I think) two weapon fightering feat. 5 lvl archfey 3 lvl thief. Level 8 so far. Can attack four times or be cast darkness and attack twice.
personally prefer the 5 lock/ 7 bard build as you can then have the pact of the blade extra attack at lvl 5 and bard extra attack stack for 3 attacks per action. also i still like taking those eldritch blast invocations for when i cant get in range or just want to safely sit in my darkness and fire beams of death out of it.
I hadn't thought to add bard, but this is great for my gnomelock duelist. She's currently 3 goo warlock + 1 fighter for duelist + medium armor (borrowing Shadowheart's) + shield. Building for stacking crit chance reduction and the plan was for fighter 3/champion, but I think that could be sacrificed for the amazing flavor ans rp with collage of swords instead 🗡
Dump 3 levels into Warlock instead of 2 and pick up Pact of the Blade. Makes your weapon attack damage scale with Charisma, same as your spell damage, so you don't have to put points into two different attributes to attain well-rounded damage output.
lol might as well go for 7 bard and 5 warlock for 3 main attack and one bonus attack. if you want to burst damage used range Slashing Flourish to make it 6 main attack and one bonus attack
I’m a first timer to Baldurs Gate and I’m so happy I went with a default character. I’d love to create my own now that I get the game, but as a newbie all of those beginning choices would’ve been tough
Pact of the blade is better and pump cha to max. 8bard/2lock/2fighter Respec and fighter first for armor proficiency and grab action surge. Lock, pact of the blade. Devil sight and agonzing blast. Rest bard, college of swords.
Warlock 2 Bard 6 Ranger 3 (Gloom stalkers is insane mixed with this build get improved stealth dark vision and extra bonus attack and another fighting style and a resist
Id personally do a respec later at level 9 to take 1 more level in warlock for pact of the blade for charisma based weapon attacks and 2nd level pact slots to refresh on a short rest for more casts of darkness
bard lock is awesome. Tried it out on tactician once. Every enemy had high AC and resistances to seemingly everything, all of the higher level bosses just dont get disadvantage for some reason. If they've updated the game I'll play it.
I basically do this but with ranger warlock. Make my character pretty much Drizzt. Ranger to lvl5 and all warlock from there. Get darkness and devils sight and shoot/slash from darkness and have your animal companion support you as needed. A lot of fun
How to improve it: Go fiend and take blade for warlock and get 5 levels into it. Why? Because it's going to let you dump dex as a stat you need for damage (thus only needing 16 for dex checks and initiative) and focus entirely on charisma. Blade Warlock's extra attack also stacks with Bard's, unlike every other extra attack. Feat wise you'll only get 2 - so take stat improvement for the first (to get +2 in charisma bringing you to 20 if you take the deal with the hag) an then dual wield (to get bonus armor class and be able to wield Wyl's special rapier from act 2 in the offhand which also has a charisma modifier on its attack) You also don't need to stick to dual wielding, if you prefer big weapons warlock pact of the blade lets you make any weapon viable as your primary weapon. Want to run glaives? Now you can swap the dual wieldtrait to the polearm focus one, now you get to spend a bonus action on an extra attack if you want and reaction attack anyone walking into range!
This is exactly the comment I was looking for lol. The build in the video is good, sure. But no Pact of the Blade? It ain't a Bardlock without it I'm afraid.
Mage slayer is pretty useless.. also if you go 5 level in warlocks and rest in bard, you can get 3 attacks.. cause for some reason warlocks' extra attack with pact blade and all other extra attacks stack..
Even better 5 warlock 6 bard and 1 wizard to learn all the spells with glyphs. You will be a full caster, learn every spell from glyphs, have the 2 extra attacks and the amazing absolutes of a word bard.
you know what ends concentration on enemy spell casters? Death. Death ends concentration every time. Don't take Mage Slayer, take an ASI in Dex instead if you're sticking with this build, but agonizing blast invocation, blade pact, and CHA ASI's will almost always be stronger use of a turn for both melee and range warlock multiclasses.

Beyond that the originals run on the 2nd edition version of DnD while BG 3 runs on 5th edition. So they play completely differently. I love both personally though.
People finding and doing this builds are true pro players of these games i just flow into the game normally i don't have the "intelligence" to find out this combinations etc
just respec and max out int smh my head
"flow into the game" is such a cool way of phrasing that, I'ma steal it (because that's exactly what I do, I just go and pick whatever seems cool at the time and things just work out or I die lol)
Skim the DnD 5e combat rules! It’ll make so much sense.
What do you recommend instead of two weapon fighting?
I hear that this was nerfed in Honor Mode. Can anyone here confirm?
@@LankyNoodle great weapon mastery
@@LankyNoodlePersonally I like Polearm Mastery since you have added reach and, anybody that comes into range gives you an opportunity attack. Plus, a successful attack allows you to attack again as a bonus action
Greatsword doesn't allow you to attack as a bonus action. So it's 3 attacks vs 4. While the damage might seem better, your CHA mod being added to TWO weapons instead of one is better in the long run.
I love how his bard is supposed to be really imposing and then he just has a violin on his back
the creche is where I learned how good darkness is
I did something similar with an Oathbreaker paladin and a necromancer party.
Add 6 levels in fighter to get your extra feat back or splash 3 levels in Thief Rogue to get cunning actions, a second bonus action, and sneak attacks on melee
uuuuuh I like this 👀
But isn't Devil Sight pretty key in making the whole darkness abuse work?
Choose Actor for first Feat to increase Cha and gain Expertise in Deception and Performance, then second Feat increase Cha to 20.
seriously, his build is so MAD and then takes mage slayer too?
Should I just for Bard all the way to 6, then go into Warlock 7 and beyond? Or Keep switching between the jobs every other level?
Omg I think I found my next play through build!!!
Dude! I love this build! Bardlock is one of my favorite saiyans!
If you go a 6/6 split you end up getting both mid range class features as well that can prove useful, otherwise you can go 5 Lock/7 Bard for access to a 4th level spell.
the subtle gura "a" did not go unnoticed
Ahahahahaahahahahahaha thank you
Been thinking off a build using sentinel.
To far for a melee, to blind for a ranged attack.
big orb of darkness on the field flinging eldritch blasts out is classic warlock gameplay
I did the same with a Thief/Champion build. Being able to crit on 19 & 20 when you're making 4 attacks every round is glorious.
You multiclassed into a colour? Are you using mods?
Go Thief instead, shoot your offhand crossbow twice per turn.
@@niekesselbrugge1132 this reply is so pedantic, but I'm kinda jealous that I refrained from making it myself. 🤣 It's *R-O-G-U-E,* people. Please!
I feel like this was such a good opportunity to call him BaldRock
Love the classes in this game. It's great to have class actually matter even in dialogue options and while exploring. And being able to multiclass is so fun to try out new combinations and see what other people come up with. I hope Larian makes some good expansions and I hope their future games use this same play style.
Hopefully we get some dlc including more subclasses and magical items!
Bard is straight up broken man. So many fights I've gained advantage in or just straight up skipped dimple because I was able to silver tounge my way out of it
Makes us realize we don't need to fight as often as we think lol
Bro play Divinity Original Sin 2! It's the same shit and just as fun!
what a great alastor build
Was looking for a build for Wyll with bard multiclass, think i'm gonna use this one, seems very nice
Alternative build, First level in fighter for strength\con prof and defence fighting style. (Some enemies like Minotaurs and steel watch force you to make strength saves for concentration) weird I know.
5 levels in warlock for pact of blade extra attack respec fully into charisma (it’s your attack/damage stat now) hag hair + 1feat for 20 charisma
6 levels of sword bard for spell slots and multi-attach which stacks with blade pact for 3 attacks.
Your spell list still sucks but you could replace the level of fighter with 1 level of wizard and learn haste+shield from scrolls.
More or less what I'm doing, except duelist. I needed a level in fighter originally to use a shield as a gnome.
I love playing bardlock.
the devil went down to georgia but the boy lost the fiddling contest.
That's one of the daggers we used! :D
Honestly the coolest, and best video series I’ve seen for BG3 builds! Good job! Do some more popular ones like Bardbarian or the paladin/bard mixes
Thanks so much! We have lots of requests so they'll be more on the way :)
Better-Blaster-Bardlock
Take 3 levels of warlock. Pact boon is inconsequential
Pick up darkness, eldritch blast, and the devils sight/repelling blast invocations.
Level bard until 6, taking lore bard
Between cutting words being untargetable in a cloud of darkness and a repelling eldritch blast to keep targets away and push them through hazards it's tough to beat the raw control of the battlefield you have
I would probably add one more level in warlock for pact of the blade so you can divest dexterity and get points in other stats plus second level warlock spells and slots but your choice. Baldirs gate 3 is so much more about when you get things than usual dnd so having bard stuff faster can mean things like swords bard in the majority of act one and vice versa
Build I was looking for:) thanks
For a minute there I thought this video was called a Baldur's Gate build for Baldur's Gate 3
Lmao I had to do a double take on the title cause of this
Only thing I'd improve is maybe taking more levels in warlock to get pact of the blade first, so you're always attacking with Charisma and don't need to invest in dex. Another thing you could do is delay the build by a level or two and start with paladin, for the extra weapon proficiencies, smite, and heavy armor so you can dump dex extra hard.
Thinking on this for Wyll.
Ive been playing with lore bard and as much as I adore the social features, I would like some more combat proficiencies so bless for the build
This is still my favorite build from you guys gotta use this on a Wyll origin run
You'll get plenty of chances to attack your enemies then lol
if you get to 6 on bard youll have 3 attacks pact blade extra attack stacks with regular extra attack
@@-Jesus-Kun- 😲
Can't wait to try this out!
I know these are tightly edited, but there is a slight latency when pausing. Maybe in the future you could allot a little more time to stats and the ilk. Love the guides!
All of our stats and builds are available on our discord 😁
damn, if i would have known this before me and my buddies 4 man i would have done this. went full bard rock gnome. i love nuclear bombs
You can change your class
@@digitalmico3477 true though we built our classes around each other and it’d be a pain. We’re are level 11 and respecking w/ withers this late seems meh
@@the.winery9941I did it a ton and just stole the gold back from him with astarion. Bonus points if the whole squad can see thru the dark bubble and stand inside so they have to pursue into melee range at a disadvantage lmao
Not sure a class based on darkness would be best with friends lol. Not without clearing it with them anyways.
You basically made night crawler and i love it
😉
You can apply darkness through arrows. Opens the combo with hex cause it's no concentration spell
Dump 3 levels into Warlock instead of 2 and pick up Pact of the Blade. Makes your weapon attack damage scale with Charisma, same as your spell damage, so you don't have to put points into two different attributes to attain well-rounded damage output.
A warlock bard sounds like a dark pastor inspiring people with dark wisdom
Improve it by getting to level 5 in pact of the blade because that extra attack stacks with other classes’ extra attack
Zariel tiefling is also great for bard due to thaumaturgy. Free advantage on all performance and intimidate checks.
lol might as well go for 7 bard and 5 warlock for 3 main attack and one bonus attack. if you want to burst damage used range Slashing Flourish to make it 6 main attack and one bonus attack
I’m a first timer to Baldurs Gate and I’m so happy I went with a default character. I’d love to create my own now that I get the game, but as a newbie all of those beginning choices would’ve been tough
You left out that ranged slashing flourish can attack the same enemy twice, which kinda makes it OP in a lot of builds.
Me with my silly flute playing human bard who just likes to play songs and hit things with swords lol
Pact of the blade is better and pump cha to max.
8bard/2lock/2fighter
Respec and fighter first for armor proficiency and grab action surge.
Lock, pact of the blade. Devil sight and agonzing blast.
Rest bard, college of swords.
You also could just pick the ASI which would be better for you in 90% of situations over Mage Slayer lol
I don't even know what ASI is but I know Mage Slayer is pretty meh
Ability score increase
@Murasame13 not every build is about min-maxing. You can beat the game without taking a single ASI.
@@nerdyginger7430 he just said he didnt even know what asi was but also he finds mage slayer not great.
@codeninja1 yeah that was a misclick. I was replying to op. Didn't realize I had tagged first comment.
Was planning to do a second bard playthrough, think I’ll do this
One more level in warlock to get the pact weapon means you can use your charisma as the attack and weapon skill to stretch that bardic versatility 😊
Warlock 2 Bard 6 Ranger 3 (Gloom stalkers is insane mixed with this build get improved stealth dark vision and extra bonus attack and another fighting style and a resist
“Grab Devils sight and one with shadows invocations”
Me picking the eldritch blast invocations: *AlakaBLAM!*
Do you pick these at character creation?
Another level in warlock for pact of the blade might be worth it, unless you pick the right items of course.
I tried doing a darkness focused Warlock build but the amount of enemies that have darkvision in this game is astronomical
Id rather just have counterspell and the occassional hunger of hadar
Id personally do a respec later at level 9 to take 1 more level in warlock for pact of the blade for charisma based weapon attacks and 2nd level pact slots to refresh on a short rest for more casts of darkness
I kinda want a more full vid on this as to have reasons and stuff
If u really want u could get the hexblade mod and take 1 level of hexblade and the rest as swords bard too
bard lock is awesome. Tried it out on tactician once.
Every enemy had high AC and resistances to seemingly everything, all of the higher level bosses just dont get disadvantage for some reason. If they've updated the game I'll play it.
Please do pally/bard or sorcerer next
If you drop one more level in to Warlock, you can also use your Charisma modifier for attacks.
I basically do this but with ranger warlock. Make my character pretty much Drizzt. Ranger to lvl5 and all warlock from there. Get darkness and devils sight and shoot/slash from darkness and have your animal companion support you as needed. A lot of fun
Dope build
How to improve it:
Go fiend and take blade for warlock and get 5 levels into it.
Why? Because it's going to let you dump dex as a stat you need for damage (thus only needing 16 for dex checks and initiative) and focus entirely on charisma.
Blade Warlock's extra attack also stacks with Bard's, unlike every other extra attack.
Feat wise you'll only get 2 - so take stat improvement for the first (to get +2 in charisma bringing you to 20 if you take the deal with the hag) an then dual wield (to get bonus armor class and be able to wield Wyl's special rapier from act 2 in the offhand which also has a charisma modifier on its attack)
You also don't need to stick to dual wielding, if you prefer big weapons warlock pact of the blade lets you make any weapon viable as your primary weapon. Want to run glaives? Now you can swap the dual wieldtrait to the polearm focus one, now you get to spend a bonus action on an extra attack if you want and reaction attack anyone walking into range!
Solid improvement and explanation too :)
This is exactly the comment I was looking for lol. The build in the video is good, sure. But no Pact of the Blade? It ain't a Bardlock without it I'm afraid.
Can you do a guide to making Gandalf next?
Added to our request list :)
Gonna do my first dark urge run + first bard run with this ^.^
Mage slayer is pretty useless.. also if you go 5 level in warlocks and rest in bard, you can get 3 attacks.. cause for some reason warlocks' extra attack with pact blade and all other extra attacks stack..
Okay that's cool.
And that'd be 7 Bard so you'd still get level 4 spells.
I'm a sorcildon😂 I'm a sorcerer in heavy armor that utilizes a mix of long and close range spells. Specifically lightning based spells, I fly around the battlefield laying wast to my enemies with massive damage.
