Dr. Mew, you, your father, and your work are one of the most important discoveries in my life. I struggled to find this information for more than a decade. I am now a 32 year young woman with an overbite, CMD and of course bruxism. I am glad I stayed unsatisfied with all those false conservative orthodontic options, and happy to have found you. I am still uncertain what can be done in my age. I sleep with the tape, make posture exercises and of course mewing and feel small improvements. But I guess I need a upper jaw explanation, since its a bit narrow and my tongue does not fit there in. The thing is, mewing wasn't invented. In yoga and other ancient cultures, they put their tongue on the roof of the mouth to complete an energy cycle during meditation and other practices. They found out that by placing the tongue on the roof of the mouth, specifically on the soft palate, you can stimulate cranial nerves that signal the brain to remain calm and promote healing. This action also supports the vagus nerve, which is responsible for sending calming signals to the organs and immune system. This practice has been around for a long time. Nothing is new under the sun.
This is the first time I have across this thing called mewing. Would mewing work for someone over 50 years old? I wish it does! Is there anyone over 50 years old who has got results with Mewing? I wish I had known about this 30 to 40 years ago!
What would your advice be to me who, due to poor Invisalign treatment early at age 11(I had it when it just came out) have been left with debilitating TMJ dysfuntion which was exacerbated by trauma. I now where a Michigan splint to reverse the effects of the unnatural position that the Invisalign protruded my jaw into. I now bite in my natural position which has left with my a underbite again however I want to know after my TMJD treatment whether I should wear and thin bar retainer like u recommend and maybe undergo palatal expansion to try and protrude my mandible naturally. The other options would be to live with this underbite and wear my splint from time to time which will stunt any arch expanding or go for conventional braces to try fix my malocclusion. I also would like to mention that I have horizontally impacted wisdom teeth in my mandible and im student living in London who is eager to fix this problem.
I used to do mewing subconsciously until the age of 12 I had real good facial structure despite my genetics showing the opposite, I remember one day while reading a book at age 12 and I thought why is my tongue always to the roof of my mouth it has never been relaxed and I'm putting to much pressure to it 😂 i dropped it ever since and believe me or not my facial structure became worse also puberty and stuff were involved but when i grew i no longer had the amazing facial structure I used to have, I heard somewhere if you put your tongue on the pallet it helps the face so when i was 17 i started doing it but in the wrong manner only with the tip of my tongue until recently trying with the back third, at first it was hard and impossible to breathe also couldn't keep it but after some struggles i learned to keep it there with suction, if you are not used to mewing the pallet tissue is usually so soft and you'll feel bad and the tissue might get sour when doing actually mewing in the first week of doing it but later it's addicting, you're breathing gets amazing and you no longer feel a lot of sliva resting around, which is a good good feeling, it took me a year of practicing to get into the actual mewing involving the whole tongue and opening the airways but boy the best breathing experience I've ever had, also i used to speak with such a weak voice and since mewing my lazy tongue has gotten better. I'm not sure about facial authentic for all people it's has helped me a little, probably works way better at a younger age but at least it prevents from one side of face getting stronger and mucle imbalance specially when sleeping and it reduced the double chin too giving you more of a youth appearance
I discovered mewing in 2019, when I was 30. I admit it changed me a bit. I'm not a gigachad, but I've got better breathing and an increased dental arch.

You can stand in a doorway and press out your arms for some time, then step out with relaxed arms and to your astonishment they raise up in the air, once the doorposts are no longer blocking them. I have done the same but with a pillow on the back of my head against a wall for some time. The posture just stretched out exactly like the arms does. It can be quite good. Now I'm of course not so well versed in the science, and doesn't know if it actually does any good, but it feels nice enough.

i am here looking for help :) i am 15 years old and i have had braces since i was about 12 years old. About a year ago i found out about mewing and have been trying to do it ever since, i am not going to lie, i havent been too consistent in mewing, partially because i have a hard time getting my tongue with the back third up when swallowing with a closed mouth. So when i am in school it gets hard to mew. I find it easier to mew if i swallow my saliva and feel my backthird with an open mouth and then try to replicate that posture and close my lips. But I have also been wondering, since i am recessed and i have braces i dont know if mewing is doing anything for me now. But i do think that i will be getting my braces of in a few months and i think that i am on the home stretch now, so thats nice :). I am pretty sure that i will get a permanent retainer after my braces, and if given the choice i will probably choose the permanent retainer since i dont really have to do much with it. But i am just wondering, after my braces are off and if i try to get consistent with my mewing, does anyone know if it will have an effect on my facial development. I sincerely hope it does as my confidence level ever since finding out about my recession and other peoples good looks has plummeted. Anyway, i know this got long so i apologize for that but if anyone has an answer, thank you in advance!
Hello Dr. Mike. Can you achieve results from mewing if you have braces? I had an overbite and got put in braces along with 4 extractions, and im getting my braces off in a week. Im currently 15 years old, and after my braces i will be put in a retainer for a while. Will this prevent me from seeing results from mewing?
At your age chewing is equal if not more important. Read this article :whydokidsgetugly-jawcare.blogspot.com/2024/06/blog-post.html . You can contact the person who wrote the article as well.
@@sid.n2761 hello thank you for the article. I would like to say that i eat foods that are quite reasonably hard like steak and meat. I also do some jaw excercises and have had significant growth in my massater muscles. I wanted to practice mewing to get cheekbones that are a little higher, but not to significantly improve my jaw because it is already quite good. My face is also quite horizontaly grown. What i did wanted to ask was if mewing would yield results if i have braces
@@Gigabatchad I had same issue. From what i learned you can mew with braces if they are not pushing your jaw backwards. If you got teeth extractions, braces are pushing backwards, which narrowing your palate and making opposite of mewing. In that case you should not mewing. I got off my braces without retainers so I can fully focus on mewing. It is risk, but better have pretty face than straight teeth.
Hey Dr.Mike! Please ask your video editor to lower the background music voice it's little annoying and disturbing, your voice get overheard during most of the video. I hope you will discuss this point with your video editor next time, anyway thanks for sharing your knowledge Sir!
Hi, Mike! I've been applying your orthotropic teachings for a while now, and the changes in my face, health and posture are incredible. Thank you so much! I have one question, though: can you elaborate on the relationship between teeth lightly touching during mewing and hollow cheeks? I personally find that my teeth are slightly apart when I mew. Should I try to make them touch?
If you clench your teeth you'll overwork your buccinator "cheek muscles" causing them to get bigger. You need to make sure your teeth lightly touch so you avoid teeth grinding, but also to lock the lower jaw to the upper jaw, so that it can grow forward. Check out my beginners guide to Mewing for more info
@@Orthotropics Thanks for taking the time to answering :). Right now I'm used to mewing, and I'm getting results, but my teeth naturally stay slightly apart, as I said. Should I try to consciously maintain them together? And then after some time that will become automatic? I'll check your mewing guide again for that part, too :)
I bought an upper and lower palate expansion appliances because my mouth isnt wide enough to mew properly. In fact as an adult male my upper jaw is so small the smaller impression kit nearly didnt fit my upper jaw. From my looks i have okay jaw and slight hollow cheeks. The palate expanders will allow me to mew more efficiently. Since my whole tongue cannot fit in the palate to mew properly right now.
According to measurments my upper jaw is 45 mm at the molars and lower jaw 43 mm. Its average growth but why cant i mew properly? The expander has arrived. Its been in there for a week now. Expansion is working.
Everything is great, but there is something. Should the teeth touch or should they meet empty? I mean, when you hold the butterfly bite, should there be a certain distance or should the jaw be slightly relaxed?
My upper jaw is average, not narrow, it can accommodate the tongue, but there is something. Should the end of the tip of the tongue be on the canine edge of the upper jaw or directly behind the upper teeth? There is a slight difference in distance, but I want the ideal position for the tongue.
The last point is that I took a picture with a camera and found that the four front teeth, the incisors, had fallen down on the other teeth. Would placing the tongue directly behind the teeth help me?
Doctor, please, if you see my comment, answer me. I have a problem. My lower teeth are ahead of the upper teeth, and my nose and jaw have become deformed. Can I treat the matter just by breathing through the nose, and will they return to normal or not?😭
DOCTOR does mewing work if you are 23 years old. My main goal is to get good jaw mandible width to get more hollow like appearance, also better ramus lenght etc? Or is it stopped .how to check it. Is there any test
Same Problem with my Right Side .... I did Uneven mewing for 2 years and now i have Uneven face .... i searched the internet for a fix but nobody talk about it .... they just say "Don't Do Uneven Mewing" or "You must make Equal pressure on both sides" .... they speak like i can control my Right palate
Dr. Mike, we want to understand these steps. I mean, what is the reason for the expansion of the lower jaw? Is it the contact of the teeth or what causes it to expand? And does the position of the head and neck support the back of the tongue against the palate? We want to understand. I am doing a Myung, but I do not see any results with this.
My jaw was broken in two places, now I have titanium plates inserted in these places. Can my jaw still grow while I have titanium plates in my jaw? Is it highly possible that these titanium plates will be osseointegrated which can prevent bone growth?
The Miyoung is real and imaginary. Thank you, Dr. Meek Miyo. It has become like two fashion shows. Note: When wearing the tongue on the roof, I wear it on the front. For 4 years, I put it on the front and swallow and get suction from the front only. It is somewhat difficult, as there is a roof, which is the place.
Please kindly reply I've been watching your videos for a week or two and I checked my facial structures and my teeth alignment, and it was bad. I'm 19 years old, female and I'm glad I caught on it early and I'm determined to change it . I'm really not concerned about my facial features and crooked teeth , but I've had the problem with my tmj since 1 and half year and I must tell it's just a hell of time to go through I can't eat , can't sleep, can't sit properly and therefore can't focus with the constant pain. I've tried everything, soft foods, massage, medicine, exercises and much more obviously it didn't work. Since I came across your content, I've tried to connect the dots and that's why I want to ask can mewing cure my tmj , because please I want to live a pain free life and eat all of my favourite hard foods not causing my jaw to pain when I chew
I have the same problem, my jaw is making noise and it has even caused the asymmetry of my face, jaw and nose.. I have no hope except for mewing. we have to do
I got a question. For context, I've always slept on my right side. Many people don't believe that sleeping on one side since you're very little (I'm 17 now) cab change your face/head. So I literally have a flatter skull on the right side, right corner of the lip is droopier, my right eye is literally more "tired" and is higher placed compared to the left one (I guess my face would stretch, the way I slept), and my right ear is flatter. Literally most of my negative features, if not all, come from this asymetry I have on my right side. So what I'm wondering is, can this damage I've done to myself be reversed? The right side of my face is literally stretched. So I'm not sure. You know, things like these cab really fuck up someone's confidence and create massive insecurities, like in my case. So yeah, what can I possibly do, to fix the asymmetries I mentioned? Thank you in advance.
should you push with the tip of the tongue upwards, or forwards is one of them bad this guy said to not push with tip cause it causes maxilla to go the wrong way but it gets me confused
I have a narrow palette If i start resting the tip of my tongue behind my teeth in the right place rather than on teeth(which what’s happening now) & if i swallow correctly too would that help expand palette even if i wasn’t pushing my tongue up all the way & mewing because i can’t hold it properly now

😂😂😂
Thanks to Dr. Mew, I’m now going to an orthodontist to fix the incorrect growth of my jaw, to achieve a much better life quality.
The beat summery I've heard. Thank you
I wish I discovered this at very young age
The thing is, mewing wasn't invented. In yoga and other ancient cultures, they put their tongue on the roof of the mouth to complete an energy cycle during meditation and other practices. They found out that by placing the tongue on the roof of the mouth, specifically on the soft palate, you can stimulate cranial nerves that signal the brain to remain calm and promote healing. This action also supports the vagus nerve, which is responsible for sending calming signals to the organs and immune system. This practice has been around for a long time. Nothing is new under the sun.
I love this video, it clarifies a lot.

Can't wait for this
Will premiere live in 3 hours
So how many people realized they have to work on back 3rd of the tongue and even better barefoot body walking posture? Wow. Ty.
You didn't invented mewing, you invented the name but you discovered the technique.
i mewed for 10 month it works
John mew must be proud of Mike
The Mews deserve a Nobel Prize 🙏
Are there documented cases of palate expansion in adults using the mewing technique? And how much expansion in mm can you expect as an adult?
Helppp, everytime I touch my pallette my teeth and jaw move😢😢😢😢
Hey can any one help me ?
Naturally, I keep my lower front teeth touching behind the lower tip of upper front teeth and a decent space is present btw my jaws and none of my thooth touches to each other except the front ones. Am i doing it right 🤔🤔🤔and if i forcefully try to bring my jaws closer my cheeks comes in btw and also in this position i cant create vaccum.
Hey doc if you are reading this i need your help, i am 18 and i have a small face compared to my body is there any natural way to make my face bond structure bigger please help if you reading this
This was a great video but the only problem is when I have my back tongue on the roof of my my mouth I can’t breath and if I try it loosens up
You can stand in a doorway and press out your arms for some time, then step out with relaxed arms and to your astonishment they raise up in the air, once the doorposts are no longer blocking them. I have done the same but with a pillow on the back of my head against a wall for some time. The posture just stretched out exactly like the arms does. It can be quite good. Now I'm of course not so well versed in the science, and doesn't know if it actually does any good, but it feels nice enough.
Great video
I think you are the right person to guess the correct posture to grow of hight
What is solution of asymmetrical masseter
Mewing should be taken more seriously, but not even the people who practice it post honest and sicentific before and after photos
mike my teeth are little crooked when i started doing mewing and doing thumb pulling my jaw become little more wider but front teeth start moving forward my parents are recomending to get brace but i think expander would be a good idea for me what is your opinion should i get a expander .how i can convince my doctor to get expander rather than a brace
pleas replay soon
i am here looking for help :)
i am 15 years old and i have had braces since i was about 12 years old.
11:24 agree
Why did you use a picture of someone who is known on the org for getting surgery as an example?
Hello Dr.

@@Orthotropics I saw that video, but i wanted to clarify if mewing with braces would give any results. Dont braces stop the maxilla from expanding?
@@Gigabatchad I had same issue. From what i learned you can mew with braces if they are not pushing your jaw backwards. If you got teeth extractions, braces are pushing backwards, which narrowing your palate and making opposite of mewing. In that case you should not mewing. I got off my braces without retainers so I can fully focus on mewing. It is risk, but better have pretty face than straight teeth.
My lower teeth are very crowded at the front. It seems that they have become more crowded over the years. Will mewing help?
Thank you, I'm Indian black but I'm look good now 🥰🥰 handsome
Hey Dr.Mike!
Please ask your video editor to lower the background music voice it's little annoying and disturbing, your voice get overheard during most of the video. I hope you will discuss this point with your video editor next time, anyway thanks for sharing your knowledge Sir!
Thanks DOCTOR MEW GOD BLESS YOU❤❤❤❤
Doctor, we want to understand something. The teeth are touching or almost touching, meaning there is a very small gap. Where is it, right?
А где можно посмотреть упражнения?
@@santiagofigarolaHow old are you and how long?
@@szee8588 I'm 21 and I started at 18, I think. What takes the most time is learning the correct technique, though
In which country did you buy this ?
@@mylobm2k244youtube automatically deletes my answer. But google braces and shop. That site should helo you.
According to measurments my upper jaw is 45 mm at the molars and lower jaw 43 mm. Its average growth but why cant i mew properly? The expander has arrived. Its been in there for a week now. Expansion is working.
Dr mew, I noticed if you stick your lower jaw out far as possible your tongue naturally sits roof of the mouth...
Dr. Mew: Are there any concerns regarding someone’s bite while mewling? Thank you

Doctor, please, if you see my comment, answer me. I have a problem. My lower teeth are ahead of the upper teeth, and my nose and jaw have become deformed. Can I treat the matter just by breathing through the nose, and will they return to normal or not?😭
Seria interessante um vídeo falando sobre a forma de cuidar do cabelo dos nossos ancestrais em comparação com hoje em dia
DOCTOR does mewing work if you are 23 years old. My main goal is to get good jaw mandible width to get more hollow like appearance, also better ramus lenght etc? Or is it stopped .how to check it. Is there any test
how to fix uneven mewing, ya know i can't stick the left side of my tongue on the roof of mouth, can you please talk about it, give some solutions
Same Problem with my Right Side .... I did Uneven mewing for 2 years and now i have Uneven face .... i searched the internet for a fix but nobody talk about it .... they just say "Don't Do Uneven Mewing" or "You must make Equal pressure on both sides" .... they speak like i can control my Right palate
weight training or some form of cardio combined with good neck and tongue posture works wonders
Molars or front teeth in contact?
❔At age 20+ is it still going to work and change the bone structure??
When I did it I feel pain in my cheeks there is something wrong?
My jaw was broken in two places, now I have titanium plates inserted in these places. Can my jaw still grow while I have titanium plates in my jaw? Is it highly possible that these titanium plates will be osseointegrated which can prevent bone growth?
Need to find more about book mentioned in the video.
Can you make a video on the effectiveness of biobloc in young adults? I’m 17m and looking for treatment
Does having a short frenulum linguae affect how I pronounce words and especially mewing negatively?
The Miyoung is real and imaginary. Thank you, Dr. Meek Miyo. It has become like two fashion shows. Note: When wearing the tongue on the roof, I wear it on the front. For 4 years, I put it on the front and swallow and get suction from the front only. It is somewhat difficult, as there is a roof, which is the place.
We getting mewing streak for 18min 💪

I've been watching your videos for a week or two and I checked my facial structures and my teeth alignment, and it was bad.
I have no hope except for mewing. we have to do
Mike mew the 🐐
I got a question.
I have the same problem
please make a video about uneven pallet:((((

Do hard chewing everyday effects our maxillary projection by pulling our cheekbones downwards.
should you push with the tip of the tongue upwards, or forwards is one of them bad this guy said to not push with tip cause it causes maxilla to go the wrong way but it gets me confused
I have a narrow palette If i start resting the tip of my tongue behind my teeth in the right place rather than on teeth(which what’s happening now) & if i swallow correctly too would that help expand palette even if i wasn’t pushing my tongue up all the way & mewing because i can’t hold it properly now
