    Hey Maria, I place the banana slices on top of the toffee layer & then the layer of cream whipped with some coffee powder & a wee bit of sugar in it. It’s delicious. Check the history of Banoffee- the traditional one does have a dash of coffee in it 😃

    • @tankuman
      @tankuman 3 роки тому

      Well done you are absolutely correct about the coffee but strangely most people put chocolate on it of which it shouldn't have... It is actually spelt Banoffi and was invented just down the road from me at the "Hungry Monk" restaurant Jevington in the 1970s it was a cross between Banana, Toffee and Coffee...

    Good recipe. One thing, so you know, your grandmother may not have been wrong. A plantain is similar looking to a bananna, but not the same, it's a cooking fruit with a higher starch content than a banana.

    • @supriyamehra4281
      @supriyamehra4281 4 роки тому

      Best way is use white butter heat it add little brown sugar mix nicely ,then add half can of condensed milk ..your toffee is ready ..instead wasting two three hours keeping condensed milk in hot water for too long ,too much waste of gas

    • @mikaela2020
      @mikaela2020 4 роки тому

      @@supriyamehra4281 this way you are getting caramel, not dulce de leche. Dulce de leche is what traditionally goes in the banoffee pie. It takes longer, but it also tastes better 👍🏻

      Thampy Mathews Well, the condensed milk takes a cool 2.5 to 3 hrs to turn into Dulce de leche or the toffee. There are some important things to keep in mind. Take the label off. The cans should be completely submerged in the boiling water, at all times. Make sure that the water that is evaporating gets topped with more boiling water. Cool completely before opening the can.
