I love seeing you actually do well in one of these type of videos. It’s like we let out a breath we didn’t realize we’d been holding, ha

As someone who has seen/ been in multiple Pinocchio variations. In the Lives of Puppets is a Pinocchio retelling. It hits all of the beats that make it one.

As someone who has read several, and is writing a, Wizard of Oz retelling, ITLOP is definitely not one. 😆 It totally has Wizard of Oz vibes, but it’s not a retelling of the story.

@imaginepageant agreed it has the vibes but none of the plot beats.

i totally feel you on the 4.5 counting as 5 stars. 4.5 is a perfect book but the vibes were off that day

My guess for the similar book is Shark Heart! I thought they had similar messages and imagery!

My guess is “I keep my exoskeletons to myself” by Marisa Crane. Like “Our wives under the sea” it also deals with grief, is sapphic, and has a unique writing style.

Loved Our Wives Under the Sea! might have to bump this one up on my TBR

I'm excited to see what book you think pulls the message from Our Wives Under the Sea off better, because I gave that one 3 stars i think, but was intrigued by what it was trying to do

You should read Disco Deathtrap by Cameron Roubique. It is the perfect cheesy horror story. It reads just like a campy 80s slasher film. It takes place at a Roller Rink. It is awesome.

The only book I can guess is Annihilation, but that's entirely based on a "if you like that, try this" video that paired them and I can't swear it wasn't the movie, rather than the book.

I thought the same thing about the wayward series, but I’m SO SAD to say, the new book was only a 4 😭 and I TRIED to convince myself it was a 5 and I just couldn’t

I find your love of strong settings and ambience so interesting bc I hate those elements. I read so much contemporary romance specifically bc I want only our world and no distractions 😂

I definitely want something out of the ordinary in my stories most of the time, even if it’s a just subculture etc from reality that I don’t know much about. I already live in our world and get bored with it, so don’t necessarily want to read hyper-realistic stories. 😂
