Now there’s not been a lack of videos covering the MK 5 Toyota Supra, I made an early redesign of if almost a year ago now which I’ll link somewhere in this video or down below.
I wasn’t a fan of the MK 5 Toyota Supra when it was first introduced. I felt like it was so far off the Toyota FT-1 concept which I still can’t believe how pretty it is. Sleek, low, wide, unique styling.
Proportions are on point. Looks like it’s ready to attack the road but in a graceful way. Not necessarily aggressive looking. Just looks proper. A beauty.
And YES I’m aware that Toyota never said it was a hint of the MK 5 Supra but come on, it’s literally the same car without the fantastic proportions.
Although I admit the MK 5 Supra has grown on me. Especially after the Toyota Supra invasion at SEMA last year with a bunch of different builds and wide body kits.
But I still like the MK4 4 Supra better and that all has to do with you know what - the PROPORTIONS of the car.
So, with that said, I’m going to redesign the MK 4 Supra in this video. Modernize it, redesign it, whatever you want to call it. The idea is to explore what would happen if Toyota decided to go down a different road than what they did with the MK 5 Supra.
What if they had kept the proportions and feel of the MK 4 Toyota Supra? What would it look like if they made it today, in 2020?

One of my favorite redesigns yet. I love the final design, especially the headlights. I wish more modern headlights were not tiny little afterthoughts and incorporated a unique shape like the ones in this redesign. The tech allows for more flexibility so why not get creative?
I like the thoughts on driving. I agree that most people don't appreciate the quiet contemplation and reflection about life that driving without looking at a phone can provide. But autonomy, especially in a vehicle with a very minimal interior like the Model 3, can make it so you enjoy the art of driving. It allows you to see more of the vehicles around you and enjoy the scenery while it tackles the mundane tasks like maintaining distance from the traffic in front of you or centering your vehicle so your arms don't cause it to drift into the next lane.

I would invert the headlights to opposite directions
Now THIS is a Supra! Would totally invest in making a custom to look just like this.

It would be pretty boring for him to design and for us to watch. I don't know if you've ever seen somebody designing in Automation, but the most interesting thing about it for me is setting the parameters for the engine, suspension etc. That's where it shines. Visual design when it comes to body shape is minimal, really. You can pretty much only make the stock cars look worse. Apart from hundreds of stupid headlights, mirrors and door handles, there are not that many useful customizing options either. Don't get me wrong, I love watching people design cars in Automation, it just wouldn't be all that great for The Monkey
I would gladly see how the game is doing in the hands of a professional car designer, and what I mean is the guy who actually defines what the car is and how it drives.

Agree 7:00 the Supra looks cool without and with head lights. If I was a kid and if I saw those celica head lights I would think those are the new pries, but I do agree

Imo, Toyota should take the new Supra, put it on BMW's XDrive, get a 4-cyl turbo inside, swap out some body parts and turn it into a new Celica.
It wouldn't be hard for them to tweak the bumpers and the headlights.
Maybe fill up the fake vents with a solid cover painted in the car's color.

Not a big fan of the S headlights, I think you should remove the bottom vertical line so instead of an S it's C and a line underneath that could be indicators. The headlights should also be closer to each other and should be round on the diagonal line, as yours gives the Celica vibes. Should've also added a "nose" in the middle between the bumper and hood, sorta like MK5 has but a little more subtle.
You've nailed the bumper, that looks great. Aswell as the side, looks similar yet so different and modern. I would've spent some more time on the spoiler and gave it some more details, angles and what not.
Overall it looks good, can't wait for the rear view, since that's the best part of the Supra IMO, so I'm excited to see what you'll do with it.

6:47 looks like an nsx with an s2k grille lol, love the vids, car looks solid. Idk about those wheels but those headlights are pretty cool, to me it looks like if a 350z and the new 86/frs/brz had a baby which is not a bad thing, I actually think Toyota could sell this.(with a manual of course) also wd40 worked pretty well in my chair, I’d recommend it.

Before I finished watching the video, I wanted to write that I would rather see redesign of the rear of Supra. Glad I didn't and I'm hoping we can get that likes goal.
Really like your thoughts on driving and comparing it to showering. So few activities without distractions/screens remaining. I actually didn't realise how much this is true until you mentioned it.

What? I personally like the look of the new NSX. I don't care that "iT iSnT a TrUe NsX bEcAuSe It DoEsNt HaVe A mAnUaL" but that thing is so much fun to drive. Personally even more fun than Gen 1
Sai Vootukur I could care less about the manual transmission, it’s not an NSX because it’s a high-tech all wheel drive hybrid instead of the simple mid engine driver focused car the original was.

Sai Vootukur you clearly are either trolling or are completely misunderstanding me so I’ll leave you with this final message. While I can appreciate the innovation and technology that went into it, the gen 2 NSX has absolutely nothing in common with the gen 1 NSX and what made it a great car. Usually when a manufacturer releases a second gen car, it’s an improvement tha refined what made the first gen great. Like what Nissan did with the GT-R. What Honda/Acura did with the NSX was build a completely different car and slapped the NSX name on it. I’m not the only one that shares this opinion, look at the sales for the gen 2 then look at the rising sales prices for the 30 year old gen 1, the numbers speak for themselves. I’m not saying this as a hater, but a lifelong Honda fan and owner. The gen 2 NSX is a decent car, but not a proper successor to the gen 1 NSX as it shares nothing in common with the original.
But the Gen 2 looks good as hell...

Amazing, but I see everytime you do not change anything to the roof section... A,B and C pillar, roof shape etc still the same and it looks a bit weird to me, it stills in a 90's style on top a 20's style amazing car...

I usually quite like your redesigns, but this looks like a Chinese early 2000s body kit trying to make the car look more American. Looks like a Saleen car almost. Just my thoughts
I could tell this topic/sketch had some passion behind it!! You managed to keep the Toyota look and playful emotion, while modernizing it. AND it would look right at home sitting next to its little brother the GT86.(which to me should of had the Celica name)
I’m not even the biggest Toyota or Supra fan, but I love preserving the simplicity of 90s era cars. I’m super excited to see what you can do with the rear end!!
My advice for the taillights is making them similar to how the mustang taillights illuminate. While keeping the overall pill shape of the original.
