We haven't seen Jake Lockley yet (or have we?) I think Marc created Jake Lockley not Steven in that room as a child to deal coping with his Mother beating him. Steven doesn't remember that and seems to remember a loving Mother not a cruel one as we see Marc turn to Steven start to talk on his cell outside the funeral to his Mother not realizing there is no answer. Also we have seen in this episode not just Marc and Steven talking to Doctor Harrow in the Asylum but possibly Jake (the patient with the broken nose) as well. His name has not been said yet but it's been implied he's been there.
Nothing like "comic book readers" (aka Wikia readers) commenting in _every_ reactors comments trying to explain away everything from the break. The amount of "Jake" comments that have been floating around since day-fuckin-one -which has got most reactors expecting it at this point- is a bit obtuse and annoying.
The worst part of it is that Marc knew it but he was so done with life that he didn't care And it's important to note that he didn't say yes to Khonshu because he wanted to live, but because he wanted to avenge Layla's father. Once he was done with Khonshu he wanted to completely disappear, go 'dormant' and let Steven have the control of the body forever. As he said to Steven in ep 2.
@@Galaxia7 Ieven if he did agree to it because he wanted to avenge Layla's father's death but still wanting to live. He wanted to live to avenge his death.
@@marcusnartatez yes definitely. That's a bit what I was getting at. That's the only reason he wanted to keep on living. He was about to kill himself (and anyway he would've bleed out if Khonshu hadn't been there) and the first time Khonshu asked "do you want to live" he responds "I don't know" it's only after Khonshu starts talking about being his fist of vengeance that Marc starts to get interested
When Steven said he recognises Harrow’s “office” it’s because it’s the same room as from episode two, where he and Layla run to hide from the jackal right before he falls out the window and turns into Mr. Knight (Steven’s version of the suit). It’s just been painted white and brightened up a lot, so it just adds another layer of confusion for Steven because he remembers being in “that” room before
@@puppetmaster8551 I liked Olsen's performance, but it's really hard to compare it with what Isaac did in this show. WandaVision's episode 8 was really emotional, but the above episode is a whole other level
@@0zymandiass don’t agree that it’s a whole different level, personally have them on about the same level at the top of the MCU acting wise. A lot more great acting in WV than just episode 8. There is a reason she got nominated for an Emmy and probably would’ve won if it wasn’t for mare of Easttown
@@puppetmaster8551 Yep I agree. Oscar Isaac is amazing and his portrayal of Marc and Steven is fresh. Never seen anything like it. He really is one of the best actors in this time. But there's just something about the way Elizabeth handles her vulnerability that pulls me in. I certainly cried and laughed and enjoyed Oscar's acting in Moonknight and he is definitely worthy of an emmy award, but when Elizabeth is allowed to be vulnerable, she smashes EVERYTHING out of the park.
There's actually a really interesting theory that there were originally three personalities, Marc, Stephen, and Jake, and Jake was created to take the beatings from his mom while Marc was meant to retain the guilt, and Stephen was meant to live the life he wished he had. However, after his mother passed, he saw no use for Jake and basically hid him away, which may explain why he was locked up in episode 4, if that was him. If that's the case, it would explain why Stephen doesn't remember getting beaten in his bedroom, because Jake stepped in and take it.
I disagree with this common thought. Marc doesn't even know about "Jake" so he wasn't a conscious creation like Steven was, and Marc certainly remembers getting beaten by his mother so why everyone thinks "oh, he must have made Jake in that moment to take the beatings" is beyond me. Marc is the punching bag, Jake is rage manifested (they may make him the "boxer" or cage fighter type considering the nose bandage if they keep that aspect since it's been stricken from Marc's background).
one fun thing i noticed is that steven is always meant to cheer not just marc up, but us too. his little bits of comedy are a welcome relief to all the sadness in the episode.
For even more Hurt consider the following: The only one he had to talk to, the only who could be there for him, was basically himself. And it took death to ever comes to term with his past
Oh wow. So Steven was created to be brave, when Marc was feeling utterly terrified of his mother (prior to the beatings)? And Jake took the pain & humiliation. Omg 💔
@@ambriaashley3383 I think Steven was created to deny the reality where his mom hates him. To build an alternative reality where his mom loves and cares for him.
Harrow as the psychiatrist is an Olympic champion of gas lighting. And Mark/Steven's combined journey is profound. What great writing and spectacular acting in this episode. I was just speechless.
I think the broken nose is a big clue. If Steven was created to be an innocent oasis where the beatings never happened, Jake was probably created to take the worst of the beatings... so his mental avatar having a broken nose and a beat up face just makes sense.
The third one, aka Jake, seems latent, without a voice or maybe even a name. The alternate personalities exist to deal or ignoring stuff. We see Marc is torn about killing in Konshu's name. Jake might be emerging as a version that do the job or whatever necessary in order to survive. Konshu is the only one that has seen him, but don't care too much since is a version more in tune with his style of justice.
@@caligulapontifex5759 tbh I’m not sure anymore lol there are so many other comics that explains how Jake came to be another one said that Marc just used that name to be undercover something like that so IF they have a season 2 I would love to know his origin story
I REALLY like how you guys talk things out and come to conclusions. It's very refreshing. I'm also very, very sorry and can identify with abused children. It is the worst. This episode NEEDED that injection, no pun intended, of humor to somewhat dilute the reality of the entire backstory. This hits very hard, and I'm really happy with Marvel taking that chance. That said, I cried like a baby.
We appreciate the feedback Alex! nice pun haha, yep this episode was exactly what it needed to be and hit right in the feels while elevating the series to new heights!
The first one we see is totally Jake, completely different accent a demeanor. Just wondering if they will fully reveal him in the finale. This episode and episode 8 of wandavision have easily some of the best acting in the MCU and some of the best emotional material.
Hippopotamus God lady reading cue cards is a Easter egg of sorts. Not only no one has to be judged that way for more than millennia but it wasn't her job, but Toth's and Anubis's, with Ammit eating damned souls under the table.
I loved the song of the final episode that is in spanish, the song at the end of the episode says: /Beyond the sun, beyond the sun, I have a home home, beautiful home beyond the sun//
Incredible & heartbreaking. I think (and pray) Steven will be back in the last ep - with DID (from what I've researched, I don't have DID so pls take my opinion with a pinch of salt) an alter doesn’t just ‘die’ or ‘disappear’ when they go with integration treatment (good communication between alters, an acceptance of a system, less/no blackouts when switching etc) . If they want to go with final fusion (merging experiences, traits etc), it takes years and years, a lot of work and a readiness to fuse - Steven didn’t look at all ready when he fell off that boat and introducing the third alter and then fusing in the same ep without a chance for the character to breathe would be a weird choice for me. I don't think I'd be mad if they did it as fusing is a valid treatment, I'd just miss Steven and Marc as separate entities, especially with Oscar saying that Steven is autistic so I don't know why they'd do that when the character is so important and unique. Either way I need 3 - 5 more business days to recover excuse me while I return to my sobbing fest
You are correct, it doesnt necessarily "disappear" I deffo wouldn't want them to merge because i love their interaction as separate entities! AHAHAH we couldn't agree more.... maybe longer!
4:42 that sequence made me laugh the first time I watched it. The transition from "you" to "I" was quick, lol! Layla leans in and looks at Marc's bingo card that had the numbers but not in an actual winning order and says, "You won...We won...I won!" She grabs the card and ends with "this time, I promise I'll share it with you." The things going on in Marc's head were his issues. I don't think that we saw anything that was an actual past memory familiar to him, but his past playing out with the people he met along the way. Maybe what Layla was saying was something Marc said to Randall, his little brother, or his psyche fighting over which version of him had actually won, Marc or Steven. 36:22 Steven was created to protect Marc from his pain and to be a reservoir of happiness. When Randall was alive, Marc and Steven watched Tomb Buster a thousand times or so. Doctor Steven Grant was who they wanted to be, he's the guy they both looked up to. And when Marc was in trouble, it's who he went to. "When danger is near, Steven Grant has no fear," is the caption on the poster in Marc's room. Whenever Marc got into a situation he couldn't handle mentally or emotionally, he treated into his mind and Steven came forward. And this seen on the boat showed us who comes to Steven's aid when he gets into trouble, the thing is, this time Steven realized that it was himself. He acknowledges that he is Marc and that he can do the same things Marc can do and he does. He became a more assertive version of himself, which is likely the one that asked the lady out in the museum out and the one that replaced Gus. This version of him is very likely the one that saved them from the zealots in the alps and the thugs in Cairo. Steven is his own hero, but he has always been Marc's. Both Marc and Steven had hearts that were half full. They both had to open up. Marc was hiding their pain from Steven and Steven hid the fact that he was the one that was always saving them when things got to be too much for him. Once that finally opened up to each, the scales balanced. Many of us comic fans thought for sure Jake was going to appear, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Jake is likely the new Mephisto, lol. It didn't help all the imagery in the series showing things in three, but in fairness to the show, there was a third, the side of Steven we didn't know about. The sarcophagus that was standing upright at the end of the last episode was likely Marc and Steven's baggage. I don't know if we'll see Steven again in the future, but if we don't it makes sense, as he's no longer needed. Marc has all the tools he needs to be alright. Steven showed him that. 41:23 despite all the crap and pain his mother put him through, Marc still loved his mother. Her death was the last straw and he just wanted to escape it all, thus Steven took over. And Steven continued to show how much Marc loved his mother with the daily calls. @Pudgey, five solid episodes in, banger after banger, I think you can rest easy and believe that they're going to knock the finale out of the park! I can't believe the MCU only signed Oscar Isaac for a single series!!!! Works out for him, however, he's going to get a huge resign bonus, lol. And he deserves it! Personally, I think everyone in this series (minus the Chinese speaking bit) has been outstanding! Emmys for everyone! Seriously.
I really appreciate you taking the time to write this. I really enjoyed reading things from your perspective!! ... a very interesting observation indeed about Steven being the hero. Oscar Isaac...... immaculate acting. Can't fault it!
Thanks for joining us! appreciate the breakdown. I think we will see Steven again, there is so much we can still derive from his character. Looking forward to the finale!
Guys!!! go back to Oscar Issac when he is in the therapist room with the broken nose.....THAT WAS JAKE.....the 3rd personality.....listen to his heavy new york accent, and how he was confused where he was even though Marc had already been in that room earlier. also when its Marc again in the therapist room...there is no more broken nose.
I'm so glad Spartan gave his interpretation of the scales at the end. I think that's more likely the intended reading, but I don't think most people read it like that.
Yes I agree. Mostly because we're used to the trope Pudgey said, but in the case of real DID (which the shows try to portray) that's not how it works. Marc's subconscious created Steven to survive. Even if he faced his past traumas, these traumas aren't gone from his memories so he'll always need Steven
@@Galaxia7 See this is why im torn on if I wanna see Steven come back. 1) I want him back, he's going through an arc to become Mr Knight and I want to see that fulfilled 2) I want death to mean something in the MCU 3) Steven was shown having his own soul, which validates him being a real person, so this death should count 4) There are cases where DID alters have left or 'died' but they generally come back because the memories and pathways are still there 5) Media has a bad tendancy to 'cure' disabilities as part of a character's arc; Steven is not a thing to be cured I really don't know where I sit on this and likely won't until next week... I think if he *does* come back then he needs to be ripped out of the sand and not just 'oh, hello, it me'. I do think it's a better story, though, when looked at through the lense that Marc had only just fully understood Steven as a person in that moment, while Steven's understanding and forgiving of Mark was on full display, and thats why the scales balanced just too late. edit: this video is super useful; ua-cam.com/video/NttoBi1BAwI/v-deo.html
@@PuppetSquid yes! I've watched this video yesterday! It's a good video, v information. In it they said alters can't die but can go dormant or fuse. And I don't want Steven and Marc to fuse because of some of the reasons you outlined. Steven isn't something to be cured indeed. Also, I know they can diverge from the comic they're only loosely basing themselves on for that part of the story, but that wasn't the message of that storyline. The message was that they had to accept their disorder and that they were all Moon Knight. And I think that's a better message Another thing is that it'd be pretty OOC for Marc to not be a system. anymore. Steven (and Jake) is what makes Marc who he is. They would also get rid of a very interesting/unique form of storytelling they can use with this character in further projects including him. I think your only hesitation is about committing to a character death. I have the same problem with other franchises. The MCU has their own tropes, whether you like them or not, and one of them is (almost always) 'one fake death & one real death' per movie. So yeah fake death is common in the MCU, but real character death too. So I think Steven counts in the 'one fake death' category
Their hearts were being balanced against the Feather of Truth. Steven sacrificing himself was an act of accepting the truth behind the lies that his life and persona was based on. I don't think Steven is actually gone, because you'll notice that both hearts were still being balanced on the scale when it became balanced. I don't think Jake needed to be balanced, because it seems like he is the personality who takes all the punishments, and fights hardest to protect them. He cannot afford to have illusions as Jake, so his heart didn't need to be on the scales.
I’ve watched a lot of reactions to this episode. This one is among my favorites. You both have great insight on what your watching and I love the display of emotions. Keep up the great job guys.
This was very emotional for me as someone who suffers alone with my autistic spectrum disorder Aspergers. Very well done indeed. I read Marvel as a kid to imerse myself away I guess too.
I'm going to use this comment to get this out of my system, lol. My friends haven't seen this episode yet and one is out of the country on his honeymoon, so I've been unable to talk to anyone about it since I watched it and it's torture. I haven't read the comics, so my only information is from the show, and I don't think I have any spoilers that I could give if I wanted to. This episode had me *fucked* up. I felt like I was struggling to keep up until I watched it a second time, and I'm pretty sure that was the intent. They did such a great job of jumping back and forth between levels. I'm not a very emotional person in my personal life, but I find myself getting very attached to the characters in these Marvel series, specifically. They do a fantastic job of picking emotions or subjects, in this case, I suppose it could be trauma and abuse, and they portray it in a way that really punches you in the chest whether you're ready for it or not. Then it keeps hammering for, what, 40 minutes or so? It was very uncomfortable and I really appreciated it. What broke me was the few lines after, "You're not supposed to see that, that's the whole point of you!" Seeing Steven's realization and his dumb little heart breaking.. ugh. That got me. This series has definitely been one where every new episode has become my new favorite, which makes me very excited to see what the shit they have planned for episode 6. At the same time.. I've loved this whole thing. Give me some sort of resolution to this story and leave it set up for Moon Knight to continue on in the MCU and I won't be disappointed. If episode 5 is as good as it gets, I can't complain. It's possible that we may not have a full blown introduction to a third Alter in episode 6. I feel like this is ultimately a story about Steven and Marc. We've had two major hints at a third (the stabbings in Cairo and the sarcophagus they left unopened) and some minor hints (like, who was it that asked out Dylan at the museum? Was Marc really trying to get his dick wet all of a sudden?) but I honestly don't think _anyone_ would be putting such a heavy focus on the third Alter in every single scene if it weren't for the UA-cam comments bringing up the guy from the comics in every post. They've made it clear that something is happening, but we also have to consider how much time we've spent with Marc and Steven at this point. How many times did Pudgey cry this episode seeing the memories of what they've dealt with? If a third Alter appears that we have zero connection with in the final episode, it will definitely be badass, but what are the stakes when this Alter is in danger? Maybe this Alter being stuck in the sarcophagus is the link that can still tie them back to Khonshu since Steven is now frozen in sand and Marc is in the field of reeds? I'm just going to keep my expectations in check because an entirely new "character" in the final episode may be a tall order. That said.. I did have a similar thought to Pudgey when Marc was talking with "Dr. Harrow" and grabbed the pyramid off of the desk before being drugged, saying "I feel like a million bucks!" I do think this may have been the third Alter. His accent was incredibly thick and his expression and mannerisms seemed extremely, deliberately different than Marc's, to me. Seeing Oscar Isaac act in this show, I don't know if this is an accident. I had a similar thought each time "Marc" appeared on screen and had a beat up face. During the stabbing in Cairo, Marc was knocked out and came to bleeding from his head. And in his memory, Steven doesn't remember his mother beating him. The third Alter could have been created specifically to protect Marc/Steven, and surfaces to take the punishment. Perhaps he's the survivor.
Really appreciate you taking the time to write your thoughts, I enjoyed reading it!! Hopefully you can chat with some of your friends soon, but this is why we created our channel.... to be able to speak with all of you about it too 😄 I agree with the third personality in terms of maybe not being introduced to him in episode 6...... spartan and I thought perhaps right at the end? For shock value. For suspense. I think ep5 is definitely my absolute fav, as I didn't feel that strongly about the other episodes. Although they were good, it didn't leave me like this 😄
At the end of the previous episode, when Layla meets back up with Steven in the tomb of Alexander the Great, Steven holds up Ammit's ushabti (the little statue containing Ammit) and announces that they (Layla and Steven) are the "winners" -- so, I think, the scene in the 'psych ward' with the bingo card is a mix of what Steven had just said about 'winning' the Ammit ushabti and maybe also the compass-scarab that Marc and Layla had found (but Marc took), and possibly other artifacts that they "won" together during their adventures, but she 'stole' from him. Additional thought: the final shot of Steven is reminiscent of the pose of Crawley, the Living Statue guy in London.
"beyond the sun, beyond the sun, I have a home, home, beautiful home beyond the sun"----- this is what the final song says, it is a popular song of the church in Mexico
Loving the reactions so far, especially to an awesome episode. Keep up the good work 👍 loving this world so far, and the portrayal of the gods. Compared to Thor and the Norse gods, I actually like how these Egyptian gods actually feel like supernatural and ancient beings who are powerful and shouldn’t be messed with. No offense, but I’ve always gotten more of an alien feel from Thor and the Norse gods in the MCU. Also, loved the reveal that Marc is actually the primary personality.
I just want to say, I'm pretty sure Spartan is a bit closer in his interpretation. That's one of the many possible interpretations I see. Pudgey's interpretation, however, wouldn't really work. But she's not the only one to think like that about that scene. I've seen many reactors say the same thing. It's usually the message that stories like that want to convey in popculture so it's normal to think that's what they're doing here too when you're not very familiar with DID. I'd just point out one thing to not give too many hints (and I don't even know if that's what's gonna happen anyway). People focus on what happens to Steven, but Marc is as stuck as Steven is. I don't think there's any sort of Osiris gate in the field of reeds he could go through to get back.
Yesss I think you might be right. You definitely make a good point about DID and what this means for Steven and Marc. What keeps ringing in my ears is Harrow saying "we don't live in a material world, we live in a psychological world".... so I guess anything can happen at this point. But I do agree with you 😁 . Oh interesting... I hadn't thought of that!! -Pudgey
just bunged all your moon knights eps to catch up lol this episode 5 is absolutely stunning, an acting masterclass by Oscar Isaac. Emotionally very heavy and filling in so many character beats. as far as I remember this is quite accurate to the comics fot moon knight. do u remember ep 1 where the little girl says to Steven in the museum "what did it feel like getting rejected and thrown into the sands?" (or something like that) and Steven said ,"that doesn't make any sense I'm not dead".... this show is a trip if u ever get chance watch a movie called Ex Machina, Oscar Isaac is in that as well and he's excellent can't wait for ep 6, so far moon is my favourite marvel show. keep up the good work guys 👍

This actor played "Apocalypse" in one of the X-men's movie for example. The position of Steven at the end seems the same as the "Golden Mime" in the first episode.
I know I'm a little bit late to the party, but as an Egyptology nerd I wanted to offer some explanation just to help you guys understand what the weighting of hearts ceremony does, the outcomes, and what the Duat and Aaru (Field of Reeds) actually are, at least from a mythology standpoint. The Duat was not considered Hell in the way monotheistic religions portray it with all the hellfire and anguish and whatnot. The name in Egyptian is actually "dwꜣt", a biliteral word combining "under" and "world" (which some still debate, but either way it's words similar to that meaning), but it makes it more like a form of purgatory than anything. The link people make to it being like hell is mostly because of it being a subterranean realm, just like where the location of hell is described in other religious texts. Every soul goes to the Duat for judgment. For those who have hearts lighter or in balance with the feather, they are allowed to leave the Duat and ascend to Aaru, where they live their afterlife in eternal peace, prosperity, and rest. Aaru is similar to heaven, but it's more of a paradise full of an abundance of crops, wealth, and prosperity. Ushabti figurines (or in this context, it's actually shabti figurines) represented servants who would help the deceased do manual labor or chores when they reached Aaru, allowing them to rest and relax peacefully without the worry of having to tend to the crops or make food. For those who are unbalanced, they remain in the Duat to wander eternally, facing constant challenges as they try to find balance, some never finding it at all and remaining frozen in sand, consumed by their guilt. This is why Marc began to turn to sand in the finale, it was the guilt of not being able to save Steven weighing down his heart. However, if a person's soul is able to heal and shed the guilt weighing their heart down, they can petition to be judged again. If they are judged again and their heart is lighter or in balance with the feather, they are reincarnated for a second chance to reach Aaru with that life. They retain no memories of their first life so as to not influence the true nature of their soul with the result of their initial judgment. Marc had already made it to Aaru, so he was not reincarnated or judged again, he was just yeeted back into his body through Osiris' gate. However, if the person is deemed unworthy with a heart heavier than the feather, their heart-and essentially their soul-is fed to Ammit and consumed. The person's very being is destroyed. No afterlife, no second chance. And that, to the Ancient Egyptians, was a worse fate than any hell a monotheistic religion could create.
People are always too heavy handed! That’s why we can’t have nice things lol 😂. Shut up with the spoilers! Folks trying to show how “much they know” 🤦🏾♂️
Great shout out to Chicago my town... Spartan man you're savage because I teared up just watching with you guys and I live in one of the roughest cities in America. That's some good storytelling and performances from that whole cast. Pudgey breaking records on crying on camera lol I can't wait to see her react to Wandavision when you get on the last couple of episodes but nothing this intense which this series might be my favorite Marvel series if the last episode get just a passing grade. Marvel seem to be using these Disney Plus series to give their characters deep dive into their psychics which give them more connection to the fans which is very smart in pushing them forward for possible movies. I have a suggestion for you two could do a reaction to Ozark on Netflix Spartan you will love it.
@@SpartanandPudgey one thing that I want to address about the comic book readers they might think they have an inside knowledge of what the series is going but Marvel is always changing up from the comics which we learn in following Wandavision last year and it messed up their viewing perspective. I find it's fun to guess week to week but not get caught up in our own storylines and allow Marvel to just entertain us. Now you two can see content from a a week to week and also content that has already been out you can tell the different type of interaction with your subscribers or viewers.
1.Grace Randolph is hating on this show. 2.The 3rd personality Jake was introduced 5 minutes in with Oscar Isaac's bandaged nose and bruised eyes speaking to Harrow. This Moon Knight series has left me a Broken man.🥺

Oh... that is a 3rd personality ... Yes dear... and even the diector has said he can see a still photo of Oscar and know if he is steven, mark, or jake... it shows in everything he is....
Apparently no one is allowed to speak about the third personality. I see it being connected to Harrow or the personality is Harrow. And the battle is all in his head. Ala fight club
My interpretation personally of the scales balancing once Steven "dies" is that we know there's a third personality, so there should be 3 hearts on the scale to balance it. However, there aren't, so it's imbalanced. Once Steven dies, only 2 personalities remain, so the two hearts are balanced. Idk how true this is, could be completely wrong, but that's how I interpreted it.
You've made the same mistake that so many other reactors have, showing the KEY moments of your reactions first! What's the point of watching after that?
we dont think that a 30 second teaser replaces the remaining 15 minutes of a reaction. theres alao more than just 30 seconds of key moments usually 🙂 The point is to give new viewers a snippet of what is to come

@bsimester2010 why u saying the name of the 3rd personality when they literally said no spoilers are u slow ??
This episode 5 also signifies the 5 stages of grief. Started from denial, ended with acceptance..😢 Oscar Isaac's acting is impeccable!
Ooooo I like this!!
Its just sad Marc's mother cant move through the first 2 stages.
Even more sad was no matter what his mom did to him, Marc still loves her.
Khonshu was 100% taking advantage of Marc. He sensed his fractured mind and that fascinated him. Probably meant he could also be manipulated easier.
I absolutely agree. It can’t be argued that it’s not taking advantage when he is literally saying he is choosing you because your mind is fractured.
I think while yes he did take advantage of the situation l, the agreement, assuming Mark didn't want to die, itself was mutually beneficial.
The worst part of it is that Marc knew it but he was so done with life that he didn't care
And it's important to note that he didn't say yes to Khonshu because he wanted to live, but because he wanted to avenge Layla's father.

It’s just been painted white and brightened up a lot, so it just adds another layer of confusion for Steven because he remembers being in “that” room before
Oh wow I hadn't realised this!!! Thanks 😁
Best acting and directing I've seen in any Marvel show
Acting id toss Elizabeth Olsen in WV in there, her and Oscar Isaac in this are the best performances in the MCU.
Don't worry Pudgey, I was ugly crying by the end of this episode, so much so that my cat came over to try and comfort me, lmao.
hahaha this episode was a lot!!
How cute, a fury friend always helps comfort !
Oscar Isaac is a great actor. Really adds so much to this show
he is! takes the show to another level
Yeah, im intrigued to find out the origins of this third personality
one fun thing i noticed is that steven is always meant to cheer not just marc up, but us too. his little bits of comedy are a welcome relief to all the sadness in the episode.
For even more Hurt consider the following: The only one he had to talk to, the only who could be there for him, was basically himself. And it took death to ever comes to term with his past
Jake was created to take the beatings. That's why Stephen doesn't remember the abuse and Jake seems to be more cruel when he does manifest.
THEY LITERALLY SAID NO SPOILERS ARE Y SLOW ???
Harrow as the psychiatrist is an Olympic champion of gas lighting. And Mark/Steven's combined journey is profound.
What great writing and spectacular acting in this episode. I was just speechless.
Marc had to reconcile his pain and forgive himself for his past in order for the scales to balance his heart with the feather of truth.
Pudgey was right about the third person in the first scene with harrow I think. his nose was broken and Steven and Marc's noses are fine.
Possibly. I feel that as well considering the visage and East Coast-ish accent.
In the comics when Marc was a teenager his family put him in a psych ward and while he was in there, Jake was created
Jake was created to take the beatings. That's why Stephen doesn't remember the abuse and Jake seems to be more cruel when he does manifest.
They did say Marc's brother's name in this episode one of his parents called him Randall it is hard to hear though.

I cried when we lost Steven
I loved the song of the final episode that is in spanish, the song at the end of the episode says:
/Beyond the sun, beyond the sun, I have a home home, beautiful home beyond the sun//
Oh wow, beautiful words. Thanks for the translation!
You are correct, it doesnt necessarily "disappear"
I deffo wouldn't want them to merge because i love their interaction as separate entities!
AHAHAH we couldn't agree more.... maybe longer!
Episode is superb. You don’t get storytelling or acting this good sometimes even in films!
First episode the writers of this particular episode have ever written if I understand that correctly. If so, bravo to them.
How amazing is Oscar Isaac's acting. The differences between Mark and Steven are so subtle but we all know when they're happening.
4:42 that sequence made me laugh the first time I watched it. The transition from "you" to "I" was quick, lol!
Layla leans in and looks at Marc's bingo card that had the numbers but not in an actual winning order and says,
"You won...We won...I won!" She grabs the card and ends with "this time, I promise I'll share it with you."
The things going on in Marc's head were his issues.
1) I want him back, he's going through an arc to become Mr Knight and I want to see that fulfilled
2) I want death to mean something in the MCU
3) Steven was shown having his own soul, which validates him being a real person, so this death should count
4) There are cases where DID alters have left or 'died' but they generally come back because the memories and pathways are still there
5) Media has a bad tendancy to 'cure' disabilities as part of a character's arc; Steven is not a thing to be cured
I really don't know where I sit on this and likely won't until next week... I think if he *does* come back then he needs to be ripped out of the sand and not just 'oh, hello, it me'.
I do think it's a better story, though, when looked at through the lense that Marc had only just fully understood Steven as a person in that moment, while Steven's understanding and forgiving of Mark was on full display, and thats why the scales balanced just too late.
edit: this video is super useful;
ua-cam.com/video/NttoBi1BAwI/v-deo.html
@@PuppetSquid yes! I've watched this video yesterday! It's a good video, v information.
In it they said alters can't die but can go dormant or fuse. And I don't want Steven and Marc to fuse because of some of the reasons you outlined. Steven isn't something to be cured indeed.
Also, I know they can diverge from the comic they're only loosely basing themselves on for that part of the story, but that wasn't the message of that storyline. The message was that they had to accept their disorder and that they were all Moon Knight. And I think that's a better message
Another thing is that it'd be pretty OOC for Marc to not be a system.
We're really happy to hear that! Glad to have you join us 😃
I feel like everyone kinda got caught up on the 3rd personality coming it kind of took away from this episode a bit
We feel like we got so much value out of this episode ans it kept us on our toes, regardless.
Hopefully you can chat with some of your friends soon, but this is why we created our channel.... to be able to speak with all of you about it too 😄
I agree with the third personality in terms of maybe not being introduced to him in episode 6...... spartan and I thought perhaps right at the end? For shock value. For suspense.
I think ep5 is definitely my absolute fav, as I didn't feel that strongly about the other episodes. Although they were good, it didn't leave me like this 😄
I like your interpretation, Spartan, on what was behind the balancing of the weight.
thanks! glad you resonated with it 😃
34:47 I love the "Come one baby" like YES YOU CAN DO IT
Wait, so, the "afterlife" has a Mexican band constantly singing, "mas alla del sol"? What a way to go...🤣
🤣🤣
"beyond the sun, beyond the sun, I have a home, home, beautiful home beyond the sun"----- this is what the final song says, it is a popular song of the church in Mexico
beautiful lyrics with great meaning
And another great reaction guys! Don't worry about crying, Pudgey, just proof you're human. Oh, I'm back ;-) lol

Pudgey, in regard to the belt, I’m very sorry to hear that! You’re clearly a wonderful wonderful soul
Thanks for watching! yeah the world has been great, really enjoyed so far. Keen for the finale!!
But I do agree with you 😁

And that, to the Ancient Egyptians, was a worse fate than any hell a monotheistic religion could create.
oh wow! interesting. thanks for the history lesson haha definitely adds depth to the show
Nice reaction. Keep doing more😊👍
Thank you! we will 😃

Why you guys cutting out the saddest best parts 😢
My interpretation personally of the scales balancing once Steven "dies" is that we know there's a third personality, so there should be 3 hearts on the scale to balance it. However, there aren't, so it's imbalanced. Once Steven dies, only 2 personalities remain, so the two hearts are balanced.
Idk how true this is, could be completely wrong, but that's how I interpreted it.
Ooooooo it definitely is a good theory.... but 2 hearts are on the one side... not balancing each other out??
You've made the same mistake that so many other reactors have, showing the KEY moments of your reactions first! What's the point of watching after that?
we dont think that a 30 second teaser replaces the remaining 15 minutes of a reaction. theres alao more than just 30 seconds of key moments usually 🙂 The point is to give new viewers a snippet of what is to come
We haven't seen Jake Lockley yet (or have we?) I think Marc created Jake Lockley not Steven in that room as a child to deal coping with his Mother beating him.
Couldn't agree more!
the third idenetey is jake locklane and marc brother is rore big spoiler from comec books
