Logan was dying of Adamantium poisoning because of the fact that his healing abilities were diminished. He'd been poisoned by the Adamantium all along, but when his healing factor was stronger, it could protect him from it. Some people speculate that his powers diminished with age, others that the GMO food the Doctor created to suppress mutant genes, might have been the cause. The clone, X-24 was an imperfect clone according to director, James Mangold. He healed smaller injuries quickly, but when he was impaled on that farm equipment, he needed that injection to handle all those major wounds. They also used a much thinner coating of Adamantium on his bones, which is why the bullet was able to blow apart so much of his skull. When Charles said that he remembered what happened in Westchester. He was saying that he finally remembered that he'd had one of his seizures and killed all of the other X-Men.

It was the anti-mutant chemicals being put in the food he ate that diminished his super healing factor, which made him noticeably age and caused the adamantium bones to poison him.

Wolverine is always the last of the X-Men in comics. And here he's mutant Moses. He got them to the promised land. But the person covered in blood from all the wars and fighting to get them to the promised land can never enter it. Wolverine got his soldier's honorable death (mentioned in The Wolverine), saved the last mutants, and got to love and be loved by his daughter at the end. It was honestly a perfect send off for the character, dying at the end with love and and in peace. It's truly a masterful "Old Man Logan" movie.

So just for reference. This movie takes place in 2029. James Howlett (Logan/Wolverine) was born in 1832 making him now making him 197 years old. Charles is now 97 years old and has unfortunately developed dementia. In a "fit" he accidentally KILLED everyone at his school.
It's only natural that Logan is "looking old" because he IS His physical body and staminal should have him be the equivalent to about 55 - 60 years old, albeit a senior who's in good shape. He's sick because of Adamantium poisoning. Many will say that as he got older his Healing became weaker of that he was exposed to something that temporarily stopped his healing and allowed the poison to take hold; however I believe it's much simpler than that. I think that after 5 decades of constant exposure the Adamantium had had TIME to seep into his system. It's like Superman with Kryptonite. The reason he can still be God-like while exposed is because of the Sun. While the Kryptonite IS poisoning him the Sun is also healing and Nourishing him at the same time. All it takes is TIME. eventually the Kryptonite will win out and also so will the Adamantium. They did a similar ting with Tony. Being poisoned by Palladium in Iron Man 2.

    • @Kiljaedenas
      @Kiljaedenas 21 день тому

Actually they explain it quite clearly in the movie as to what is happening. Dr. Stryker (the original Stryker's son) coordinated with a major food corporation to mass-produce an extremely common food additive (I think corn syrup) that was laced with gene therapy drugs specifically designed to kill off mutants, and prevent new ones from being born. That's why mutants were so rare in this timeline, how no new mutant had been born naturally for decades, and why Logan was dying because years of eating that drug-laced food had badly weakened his healing powers so the adamantium poisoning had started out-pacing it. It was always toxic to him from the very day he got it, but when his healing powers were at full strength his body just swatted it aside...until now.

If I were to rank the animated shows from best to worst, I think I'm at least strongly inclined to put X-Men Evolution after X-Men 97. I think there's a few things that stylistically the newer shows can't top, but they do strive for a more serious tone. It's hard to decide which one outscales the other, but I think the original show might just take that one. If the Cinepals decided to tell me to pick one for them to react and only one I'd just flip a coin.

I saw Logan twice in theaters and both times the entire theater (myself included) cried our eyes out. I still to this day can’t watch this movie without crying so much I exhaust myself.
For me the emotional impact is threefold.
    1) Because this one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life, even if it wasn’t a comic book movie I would love it to death.
    2) I was 10 years old when the first X-Men movie came out so I literally grew up with Hugh Jackman as my Wolverine so seeing him end his reign as this character was both heartbreaking and rewarding to watch because this is the perfect way to close out the story of Logan.
    3) My mother passed away 18 months before this movie came out after almost 10 years of fighting cancer, so seeing the deaths of both Charles and Logan was extremely emotional to watch. But in a way it was cathartic to watch because like Charles and Logan she had fought her heart out longer than anyone else possibly could’ve in her condition and after fighting for so long she had earned her rest.
    4) Dafne Keen is PERFECT as Laura/X-23 and I wish we had another movie about her.
So thank you so much to everyone who made this masterpiece, you gave us the Wolverine movie we have always wanted, and more.

Yeah Tony’s death to save the multiverse and wipe out Thanos and his army in endgame was strong emotional impact too since was 16 when Robert kicked off the mcu as Tony. But Charles and Logan will always be worse since was still relatively little when i started watching the good x-men movies

Logan was dying due to the Adamantium poisoning because his healing factor couldn’t take it anymore, because essentially adamantium is a foreign object in his body. I think the villians realized this problem so with Laura they only bonded it to her forearms and calf region and not her whole skeleton so she could live longer. He still lived a good 197 years physically in this timeline but 250+ mentally if you count future past. But I read somewhere that he could live 500 years if he never got the adamantium bonded to him.

    • @markcarpenter6020

Not even her firearms and calves. The only part they coated were her claws. In the comics she actually had to have her metal claws put back in after her hand was cut off and the hand that grew back had gone claws (she took the claws from her old hand and had them surgically switch the claws later.). But they show a future where Laura will eventually die of a genetic defect due to being a test tube baby. They aren't sure if Honey badger one of Logan's other daughters has the same defect. But there is also Reign. She has been alive since WW2 and looks barely in her 20s. She has no admantium and is also a sorcerer like her mother.(She is low key my favorite kid or wolverines because she isn't just another wolverine)

In the comics, Logan speaks a bunch of different languages. He's also a master of pretty much every martial arts on the planet, making him one of the best hand to hand fighters in Marvel, as a human anyway. That's never really shown in the movies. He's more of a brawler relying on his healing factor.

They wanted to have a cameo with Logan's half brother Sabertooth. But actor Liev Schreiber wasn't available due to scheduling conflicts. They never said who the boy Rictor, was talking to on the radio. But fans have speculated that it may have been a member of Alpha Flight, who are the Canadian equivalent of the X-Men in the comics. • @thedarkknight2221

Facts about X-23/Laura: Creator Craig Kyle described her as quote "Pinocchio for Marvel Comics, she's a samurai sword trying to become a real little girl". Unlike Logan, who had already lived a long life before he became weapon X, X-23 never had a normal life, she was literally born and bred for one purpose, and one purpose only, to kill. And she didn’t originally come from the comics, she debuted in the cartoon X-Men Evolution in 2003.
In the comics she had already killed enough people to be considered one of the deadliest women in the world before she met Wolverine, and that was when she was a child. Also she only has Adamantium on her claws and not the rest of her skeleton because she was still a small child at the time and the plan was to wait for when she was a full adult because otherwise she wouldn’t have grown into her body. So while she’s not as durable as Wolverine her healing factor is actually faster and she’ll never have to worry about Adamantium poisoning because the small amount on her claws won’t be enough to affect her in the long term.

IMPORTANT FYI: Charles did not die in X-Men 3. In the epilogue, it showed he transferred his mind into the body of his "mindless" twin brother. This is the future of that same timeline. When Logan said: "So this what it feels like" - it can mean a combination of things.
    1) He is feeling what it is like to die for real.
    2) Some fans like to speculate a metaphor from "The Wolverine". Logan was told by Yukio he would die with his heart in his hand. In "Logan" he died looking at Laura - concerned for her future - accepting her as his daughter - holding her hand.

Great reaction like always! This movie hits really, really hard, in a number of different ways. I think that's why everyone loved it so much. That and the acting and writing in this was magnificent. As soon as Laura said, "Daddy," everyone in the theater broke. A lot of people that grew up with Hugh Jackman as Logan were teary eyed because he played him for 17 yrs at this point I think and it was the end of Wolverine's story so to speak. Far as I know Marvel is leaving this movie alone and not letting anything change its direction due to high respect for Jackman. Reynolds even said so in one of the trailers for Deadpool/Wolverine.
Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman were sitting beside each other at the premiere, and Stewart said he noticed Hugh wipe away a tear, so he stopped fighting and allowed himself to do the same. Two legends appreciating the incredible send-off they gave their iconic characters.
Dafne Keen the amazing young actress who played Laura is the daughter of British Actor Will Keen and Spanish actress María Fernández Ache. Maria was Dafne’s chaperone on set, and in the scene where Laura and Logan have the fierce argument in the car the director encouraged both performers to ad lib. After the scene was filmed Hugh Jackman, who has a daughter of about the same age, felt a bit uncomfortable about shouting and swearing so much at a child so went up to Dafne’s mom to make sure Dafne was okay.. “Don’t worry” said Maria, “she called you a c**t three times in Spanish in that last scene”.
Do you remember in The Wolverine movie Yukio said that Logan will die having blood everywhere and holding his heart in his hand ? and he died the same way having his daughters hand in his hand Laura was his heart. Keep up the good work.

This is the best goodbye to OG Logan and best "superhero" movie ever for me. It's heavy, it's realistic, it's R-rated, it's all I imagined reading Logan comic book.
    Things to point out:
    - Logan was slowly poisoned with adamantium over those roughly 50 years.
    - Laura is X23 and clone is X24. The clone was imperfect though, having lower healing ability and having thinner layer of adamantium on it.
    - Charles killed many people including all X-Men members in Westchester (Xavier's school location)
    - Remember in Japan, Yukio told Logan that he will die holding his heart in his hand. And so he did.
    - Kids made it cross the border and new mutant era began.
    - There is also a "Noir" black/white version of this movie. And it has even more depressing vibe.

You know, I just thought of something… Dr. Rice admits that no new mutants have been born due to genetically engineered crops created by Transigen and distributed through the world's food supply… so maybe Wolverine has been eating a bunch of this food, and it’s messing with his powers, causing him to get the Adamantium poising, which is slowly killing him… I mean, the movie never directly explains why his power aren’t working, so that makes the most sense to me

Having grown up in the 70's & 80's I didn't start reading comics until middle school, and The Uncanny X-Men became a favorite book, and Wolverine a favorite character. Back then I couldn't have dreamed of a movie version of that character that did him justice, but this movie delivered and then some. Wolverine was always a mature themed character while Hugh always did an amazing job with his personality, the proper level of violence never was.
This movie only worked as well as it did, because we all got to know Logan and the professor so well over so many years, we knew them like family. And then to see them like they were here, is sadly how most heroes end up, as in most comics, they never got those happy endings, and this movie captured that perfectly. Just an amazing effort all around, and easily a top 5 film, maybe even in my top 3, as it was perfection, nothing I would have changed or tried to improve.

I think the reason for his deterioration that makes the most sense is simply that the adamantium has been slowly hurting him this whole time. Yes he's lived for centuries, but the adamantium is comparatively recent, and it literally bonded with his bones. It probably interfered with the effectiveness of his bone marrow, which is the core of the immune system.
Even as incredible as his regeneration and immunity are, that could have had a slow but cumulative effect, impacting the processes by which he regenerated in the first place. It would accelerate over time, too, until it reached a tipping point. People underestimate how critical the porosity of bones is to the body. It's not a flaw, they're porous for a reason.

The reason this movie was similar to The Wolverine is because they both have the same Director

Past the sadness of Wolverine dying, I respect how if anyone asked “what possibly could kill Wolverine” this movie made a great explanation of continuous poison/ a kill mode clone

The kids weren’t “attacking the wrong bad guy” as you guys said, they were attacking one of the main bad guys that hurt them in the facility. Vengeance!

This is easily one of if not the best Marvel movies ever! It has a little bit of everything and is written and directed beautifully

Hands down the best Marvel movie ever. So far at least. It even surpasses Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War/Endgame for me. And only the ending of those 2 movies made me cry harder than the ending of this one.

It's easier for us to accept the different stories of X-Men now because of multiverse, different time lines and comic book storie lines. I'm glad X-Men and it's side movies . is getting some love now.
Ps- forgot ..the what if. Stories as well

You can tell how immersed they are because of how different their commentary is throughout the movie. This is me typing this just after Logan meets Laura for the first time

One of the best modern day westerns. This is coming from someone who doesn’t even like westerns but when done right they are great character pieces.

Logan was an honorable send-off. I cried in theatres when I watched it. It was a painful end of a painful story, but it was cathartic to see him die in peace, with his daughter.

Logan was such a funny action comedy, I laughed and laughed until I cried. Hugh does a good song and dance in the role, he just kills it.

Also remember in The Wolverine when the girl said " I saw your death logan, you were holding your heart in your hand." she was referring to this as Laura was Logans heart.

This movie broke the world's heart back in 2017, it really felt like everyone had in their minds "So...our Wolverine is really gone", it was a heavy emotion back then

Kristen in the first few minutes "this is making me sad", you don't know what sad is, but over the next few hours you will become intimately familiar with it(get your tissues ready).
