- Hi fam,
this is my first tutorial here on UA-cam (please don't go to hard on me).
I'm not an expert on the Digitone at all, but I like this sound and some people were reaching out and asked me how to do it. If you've got suggestions for improvements hit me up, I'm happy to hear them!
Here's Ivar Trytis Channel that I've mentioned in the video: / oitryti
Thanks for tuning in,
Miles

Had no idea you could get sounds like this on the digitone, doesn't exactly sound analog or virtual analog, has it's own thing going. Me likes! Great first tutorial 👍
Thanks for your feedback Jamie! Yeah you're right about the sound characteristic - I assume that's what you get when you try to transfer sounds from subtractive synth to FM :)
@@mattstuckert8756 absolutely!
More videos like this!
Cheers Brandon! Will bring up some videos like that from time to time
Making this right now, beautiful. Thanks!
Cheers man! Glad that this is helpful for you :)
Awesome sound design. Great bass/lead. 👍
And thanks on this again, Ken! Happy to hear that you like the sounddesign, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out too! :)
Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I’m new to DN and excited to explore such sound! 👏
You're welcome! Glad you find it useful, the DN is a fantastic synth!
Great Demo and walkthrough, really cool sound, thank you for this.
You're welcome, Nick! Thanks for the great feedback. :)
EPIC bro. i followed it step by step. what an iconic sound.
Thanks man, glad to hear that! Really like the sound too
Super. Thank you. Super idea is lock voice for the track.
Great tutorial ... thanks for this!
You're welcome Addend! Happy to hear that you like it 💚
Thanks a lot for sharing the knowledge, Miles! I'm a big fan of Stephan myself and couldn't be happier to also reach this bass on my DN now 👏👌🥰
Thank you for your feedback, Mauretti! Stephan truly is a fantastic artist and great inspiration for my music. Happy to share some knowledge! ✌️
Just bought my Digitone, this was a really helpful sound creation tutorial. Thank you.
You're welcome, James! Happy to hear it was useful ✌️
Just got my digitone today and I'm so grateful for this video! Sounds amazing, thanks!
Cheers Thales! It's a fantastic synth, you'll have great fun with it!
@@MilesKvndra I'm having a great time with it already. :) Sequencing is new to me, I could never get the hang of it with the minilogue xd so just played it real time but this makes it so simple and intuitive :)
@@thalesfechner340 Yeah, I can totally understand. Took some time for me to get into it too, but the sequencing power of the Digitone is just great. Takes some time to get into it, but it's really worth it!
Just got a digitone and progrmmed your patch . It sounds HUGE.
FANTASTIC tutorial. Thanks a lot
You're welcome Philippe! It's great to hear that and hope you enjoy it 🙌🏻
Thanks mate!! just fiished cant wait to try it in a track ;)
Very precise and quick explanations.
Cheers dude - let me know if it worked for your track :)
Just got a DN and this is such a great intro to sound design on it, this patch is a beast! Learnt loads, will be going through all your other tutorials. Thanks for the work!
Wow thanks Ben - really happy to hear that and cheers for the feedback. Always glad when my videos help 🙏🏻
Perfectly-paced, super clear and a lovely bass patch! Nice shout-out to Ivar Tryti too (next-level Elektronaut). Consider setting up a Patreon for these tutorials and patches - get some reward for this talent of yours 👌🏻
Many thanks for this comment, too! Ivar Tryti is a great inspiration and I absolutely love his content. Can't recommend his channel enough, he definitely is a next-level Elektronaut! :) Yeah I've been thinking about Patreon too, but currently it is hard to bring up the time for the "extra content" the patreons would get. But it is definitely on the list for the future. Thanks again for reaching out, James!
Wow, this made my mind to explode!
Thanks again, Trond! Hope this was helpful :)
Wow this video helps a lot!!! Thank you
Thank you I'm glad that it helps!

Thank you so much 👍
Cheers Frank, thanks for reaching out!
Awesome tutorial Milan! I’m thinking of adding a digitone to my setup. This definitely helps! Subbed to your channel, great work!
Thank you so much for your feedback, that's great to hear! I think the Digitone works well in many different setups
@@MilesKvndra Fell in love with Elektron since I got the Analog Four a few months back. I’m coming from the Akai MPC and Force and Elektron is more performance oriented which is amazing :) Keep up the great work! You have an amazing channel
@@Expectaz Analogue four is great! Don't own it but played it in a synth store and the sound possibilities are amazing! Love Elektron too, my next purchase to go along with the Digitone will be the Digitakt. Thanks again!
@@MilesKvndra Digitakt is a great machine too! My best friend has one, so I jam with it sometimes. Great form factor to go along with the digitone. Excellent choice
Great tutorial, instasubbed - please make more!
Thanks a lot! Will be working on more when I find the time in the upcoming weeks ✌️
Some great tips there.
Thank you so much! Great to see that the older tutorials still are appreciated :)
Hi Miles, what a great tutorial. Regarding the LFO's, I would put LFO1 on Filter Cutoff and use LFO2 on LFO1 depth or speed.
Thanks man, glad that you like it! This sounds like a great use for the LFOs - always great fun to make the second LFO modulate the first. Can lead to really cool and unexpected results. :)
Nice !
Thank you!
Hey man, thanks a bunch, appreciate it! You mean the Moog Sub 37, right? Amazing synth but unfortunately I don't own it - maybe one day! Cheers and have a great day! :)
excelente
Cheers San! :)
That's filthy, you naughty boy. Nice.
I like my sounds filthy. 😏 Thanks!
thanks
You're welcome - thanks for passing by! 🙂
Thank you for this and all your Digitone videos. What an awesome sound!
Thanks Jon! Glad you like the sound. ✌️
Cool, thanks very ... Please, if possible, make a tutorial bass similarly SH101 and TB 303
Thanks Claudio! I don't know the SH 101 or the 303 very well to get their sounds on the DN but I've seen a tutorial by a dude called Mike River on making the typical 303 acid sounds here on UA-cam. You might want to check that one out
@@MilesKvndra I saw this tutorial from Mike, thanks, but at that time the digitone was not portamento, he used LFO for this. I believe that today it should be simpler
Hello my friend, this patch is in your free digitone pack?? great job you are a great inspiration !!!!
Hey misterlukas, exactly this sound is part of the free Digitone pack! Enjoy and many thanks for the nice feedback :)
of course, you can adjust anything to taste. just kidding, this is dope. thanks so much
Haha, just realized the same when I was cutting the video. My phrase repeat game is strong
These videos are great. The Digitone is kind of easy for an FM synth but still kind of confusing, these tutorials are amazing. Big hugs (covid negative) from Australia !
Cheers Alexander, really appreciate that! Yeah the Digitone can be a bit confusing but I'm getting more and more into it. Will have a new tutorial out on Wednesday on using the Digitone together with the OP-1 :) Covid negative hugs back from Germany, stay safe!
Fucking A!!! Thx a lot dude !!
You’re welcome Stephane - cheers!
🥰
😎💚
Very nice. don't Stop. Oh, and happy save Your hearing day! :3
Thank you, haha! Very important day indeed
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was wondering if you know a solution to my problem. When I made this sound on my Digitone and started to play/record it, the notes were off every time? Do you know why that happens? Thank you :)
Thank you! And hmm did you have quantized recording turned on? I never had issues with this sound being off
Hi Miles (or any readers who may be able to help), im not sure if you will read this, but are you aware of a way that when you are live jamming that you can change between several patterns and not have each pattern change the settings for the filter each time. For example, if i have a bassline like this Bodzin bass which increases in intensity over patterns 1 2 and 3, when i switch from 1 to 2, the filter snaps to whatever setting i had it saved to for pattern 2, which can kind of take you out of the groove you had going with the live jam if you happened to have the filter higher or lower at the point of the transition. I guess id like to detach the filter settings from the patterns somehow if that makes sense.
Any help appreciated.
Hey Matt, I don't think that this is possible unfortunately. I'd like to use the Digitone and Digitakt similar to your approach, but I haven't found a solution for this yet as all parameter information are stored per pattern. So my solution is that I remember the filter settings for each pattern and try to hit the target value of the next pattern before switching to this pattern. A little annoying but this way everything stays smooth at least.
Thanks for the response and a good idea to try remember the starting points for each pattern. Happy new year and thanks so much for your content. :)
@@mattshadwick7755 cheers Matt! Appreciate that you like the content and wishing you all the best for 2022 - keep on jamming! 🙌🏻
Somekind of sidechain effect for lfo
Hey Rons, yeah I've done that in another jam - worked really well! Cheers
Super. Thank you. Super idea is lock voice for the track.
Super. Thank you. Super idea is lock voice for the track.
Thanks Martin! Yeah that way you've 7 voices to use on your other tracks which can be very helpful eg when working with chords
