The problem with New Gundam Breaker is that it shows modern Bamco's obsession with trend-chasing, and damaging their reputation of well-established franchises like the breaker series with it. It's not a coincidence for example that both this and the Naruto Shinobi Alliance (I think that was the name?) game came out around the same time and both focused on MOBA-like gameplay since that was the big thing at the time. The things that keep Namco from bombing hard as a company are areas where they already have advantages (RPGs and fighting games) so they don't try to break what doesn't need to be fixed. Also of note is that Namco trend-chases right as the trend is starting to die down. NGB and the Naruto game came out near the tail end of the MOBA craze, and Dragonball Breakers came out as the biggest rush of players for Dead-by-Daylight-style games had finished.
I do agree with you, but I think in the Breakers case, and with the new my hero ultra rumble game, I think it's less about chasing trends and more about "Okay, what haven't we thrown at the wall yet and what can make us the most money with the lowest amount of effort?" honestly, if they were chasing trends, then I feel like NGB would have been better because it probably would have been an arena fighter or just a more fun game. I feel like it actively went against what people wanted, which hurt it in the end.
So for Maxi Boost On, this game is actually older than Gundam Versus, and Boost dive is something that was experimented with in that game. However Boost dive was so powerful it turned the game from calling out landings to a game of who can cover the screen in fences or missiles. This mechanic never returned until EXVS2 Overboost where you can only dive while you are in Vertical Burst.
Honestly I think Super Robot Wars T does the Universal Century the best out of the VTX trilogy. Also the super robot pilots and mechs beating the shit out of Neo Zeon is hype as hell. Can have Domon murderize Haman Karn in a battle if you wanted.
It’s awesome that you put all these reviews together! I loved the nostalgia I felt watching you play through all the PS2 games! Hit me in the feels. Great video for folks curious about the super limited Gundam games NA fans were blessed with.
I recently jb'd my old vita and copped the exvs game. As a huge fan of "Super-On" by Sega, this game gave me the feel I needed with the suits I wanted. Gunpla is a big hobby of mine and I'm glad I found a game that lets me feel that good middle ground between big ass robot and action gameplay like Super-On gave me back in the day
I love GBO but I don't find any offense in what you said. The game isn't really for everyone, and I understand some people prefer the faster action packed gundam games. but some also prefer the more methodical "simulation" feel of the other games. GBO just really has a learning curve, but once you get it and it clicks, its really fun.
Your video style is goated love the editing pacing and humor. I’m not saying you should stop making gundam vids but I think if you made videos about other games you’d probably get a bigger audience
I definitely have made videos on other games. I'm variety, I promise, Gundam just got a lot of attention lol. I appreciate you enjoying my stuff tho ❤️
@@KinzieK As much as I love Gundam I still haven't found my ideal Gundam game. An Armored Core style Gundam game or a Titanfall style Gundam game would be pretty cool. I am also surprised that they haven't done a Battletech style Gundam TTG or tactical RPG game.
I was always into building gundams, especially the Zeon models, but I was unaware of the many types of gundam games and which ones were good or bad. After a some searching online, your vids were the first to pop up and I've always been thankful. Ngl it was your videos that convinced me to pick up Gundam Breaker 3 and to stay away from the downgrade that is New Gundam Breaker. GB3 is still my most favorite gundam game, but I definitely feel like giving MS Saga New Dawn a try, since I have a hand-held Emulator, and since it seems you thought it was pretty alright. Thank you for the effort and love you put in your videos, and keeping it real!

I play gbo2 off and on for a few years now. I like it because it makes you feel like a real pilot. You suck, as a rule, when you first start the game. You’re like every kid in a Gundam anime who wants to pilot a mobile suit and thinks they’d be ace at it and then you get wrecked lol. You can move fast but to do it you have to start thinking like you’re the pilot of a massive complicated machine with its own quirks. Not knowing them is death. The enemy has the same issues and you have to figure out their timing, their thinking, and exploit their weaknesses. You have to read the battlefield and adjust your tactics. If you rush in you die. If you’re too slow you die. Feeling so powerless builds tension but if you master your weapons, pay attention and stay calm you start to feel like a char clone. 10/10 but this video is still hilarious and his opinions are 💯on point. Most people play Gundam games to get the power fantasy from the jump, not to have to earn it in the world’s most janky flight simulator. Unless you’re trying to roleplay the struggle to actually be good at a non-existant job GBO2 blows and it is not fun for most people😂
Not to be that guy but Journey to Jaburo actually uses complete reanimated scenes made by the same team that worked on some of the OVAs of the 90s (I think was the Stardust Memory team specically), and honestly when you put them side by side is just night and day, this cutscenes are so well animated at the same time are incredibly faithful to the original that just makes me wish the team could've worked on something like a "remaster" for the original show, maybe reanimating the trilogy of movies or something like that, because their work is jaw dropping. And thanks, but I don't think -my ass is cute- I'm cute, keep the good work mate.
So Gundam Breaker 4 is out. It's pretty fun, but the characters are absolutely saccharine at the beginning, and the game serves as a tease for the actual Gundam MMO that we all want. If the game actually had the features the characters say it does, it'd be so much greater.
GD I love GBO2. I adore the heavy real robot feel of the mobile suits, and when you get good at it it feels so amazing. But it's definitely not newbie friendly, especially if you go right in to the higher cost matches. I play almost exclusively 450 and under. It also definitely has issues, but no other game feels quite like it.
you know what's funny tho? after years of breaker games both mobile and consoles, you can finally see the face of GB3's protag...... in the breaker battlogue special anime. edit : also, can't believe a friend of mine love never ending tomorrow. i tried the story mode until like, halfway point of the series (probably before nicol died, i forgot) and i only play it because there's nothing else cuz i play it on some relatives house in the middle of buttfuck nowhere. play like armored core my ass. also, AH CROSS ANGE JUMPSCARE
The funny thing is that I dint play any of the games that released when MS Saga: A New Dawn came out. I loved that game and can get quite strategic when dealing with tough boss enemies and their attack patterns.
This video was refreshing to watch. I've played MS Sagas: a new dawn. The boss fights were something else. So, on a side note I wanted to take a moment to throw my 2 cents out there on BO2... I've been writing a novel based in the Gundam universe. I try to be as descriptive as possible as I'm writing the story. But until Battle Operation 2, it was hard for me to really mentally picture how mobile suits would move, and before a lot of you start throwing comments about pacific rim out there, I don't count pacific rim because mobile suits require only 1 pilot, and they don't usually require you to execute the movement you're wanting to accomplish and the machine mimic you albeit effecting the environment. I'm deviating a little too much. I've recently gotten into GBO2 and I love it for what it is. It's more mobile suit Gundam content. And by that alone, it already has a special place in my heart. Personally I can't stand the rail style linear games, but that's just not something I'm into. Do I still love the fact it's Gundam content? Yes. Even if I don't care for how they modeled the gameplay. I suppose I wanted to take a moment to tell you how much I appreciate the level of attention to detail, and the dedication you displayed in the making of this video. You're doing God's work. 😉😁
Wow, I do appreciate this perspective. Like I would tell anyone else, my opinion on GBO2 is just one of millions, and everyone else's is just as valid as mine, and you're no exception. Keep on writing that novel, my dude. 😊
Absolutely! I'll admit I kinda hit a writer's block here recently. But that stemmed from frustrations on how to progress my story and tie some elements together seamlessly. But while I was watching your video I was reminded of what made me start writing the book in the first place. I'm not trying to write a masterpiece. It's just something that is grounded in the Gundam universe. And if there are other fans out there as hungry for more thing's Gundam out there as I am, then they'll appreciate my perfectly imperfect art for what it is, simply the product of another person's passion and love for all thing's Gundam/Gunpla. That being said I DID agree with a lot of the perspective you shared in this video. Like I said, it was a breath of fresh air. Keep putting out that A1 art you've been producing, and I'll do my best to do the same. Maybe one day you'll put out a review on my work? 😁 That'd sure be something. I know it's late and I've rattled on enough. Stay classy, and keep being the cultured individual you've demonstrated yourself to be. 😌🙂
I think you kinda skipped over the fact Gundam vs Zeta Gundam has a very in-depth story mode with a ton of what-if? scenarios. Anything from what if Zeon won the OYW? to What if Amuro joined the Titans? What if Four survived and joined the AEUG? and a lot of other stuff. It's worth playing longer if you didn't get to those events.
@@KinzieKIf you really want to seek them out, just keep track of what story missions have red dots. That usually either shows a chance to change history of is the ending to that character's story or both.
The story about how Battle Assault 3 even happened is honestly more interesting than the game itself. Japan never got the game; it's in fact an NA English exclusive Gundam game. The reason the game feels jank is because it's built off the internals of another game that was in a tie-in PS2 game for the 2003-2004 super robot anime series Shinkon Gattai Godannar, that came out early that year (Summer 2004 versus BA3's December 2004) They probably didn't balance things to account for things like BA3's lack of Godannar's bonkers Soul Drive comeback mechanic (replacing it with the real-time programming bit) but ported everything else over which results in the fights feeling one-sided and why mono-ranged breaks the game. The closest we ever got to a proper Battle Assault 3 was surprisingly the GBA fighting game. It got a sequel for Seed Destiny relatively early into the latter's run and here's the kicker: It contained the entire original Gundam SEED fighting game that came out before as an unlockable in-game shop item in addition to the original game's entire playable roster. It's honestly really good for a fighting game on the GBA too.
You should do more Super Robot Wars games, all of them have Gundam somewhere in it, 30 is easy to get and goes on sale somewhat often, though I would recommend higher difficulties on it. If you choose Space Route you get Victory Gundam characters right away.
left out my favorite gundam game, Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise from the Ashes on the Dreamcast. one of the only first person Gundam games. white dingo's ftw!!! other than that great vid lmao!
1:34:43 interesting note. The mech animations are often in the teens frame rate wise. So a lot of times even if the frame rate isn't bad it has the illusion of looking bad as the animations seem to have been done in low FPS. You notice this when playing it on emulation and yet even at 60FPS the animations look like 15FPS. lol
I've not been watching you for awhile but have watched a sizeable amount of your Gundam videos especially and I've loved your content so far. Keep up the great work, Do you plan to cover Gundam Breakers 4 when it releases?
I must've been one of three people to actually get MS Saga in 2006. I'm not a JRPG connoisseur but I thought it was comfy, and replaying and finally beating it last year inspired me to get back into Gundam. Unfortunately I'm pretty much only into the slow and heavy Gundam games and I don't think any good games in that genre came out post-PS2 era. Also I 100%'d Journey to Jaburo but idk why.
It's kind of sad that the only really genuine Gundam experience style games for the PS3 never released in North America. Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and Gundam Battle Record UC 0081 were never released outside Japan and it's honestly tragic because they actually put some good work into the games when compared to the rest. Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn was literally made by From Software for Pete sakes! Sadly after the release of the Battle Operation games, which are terrible btw, Bandai seems uninterested in making any Gundam games that feel genuine like your'e in a Gundam anime. I played the heck out of Gundam 0081, often just called Gundam Senki 0081. I even play it on PS3 emulation now and then. it has far more replay value than most modern Gundam games personally. You kind of have this goal to collect all the suits/weapons. The only negative thing about the game, to do so requires playing online, even if playing online solo, because a lot of unlockables are rewards for playing online coop missions. Which is not terrible personally because PS3 networks are still up even today so you can still play it online solo but it will be a lot harder by yourself, and maybe if you can get a few friends to tag along.
Randomly finding this video on UA-cam recommendation and this is an awesome video. I really love Gundam, from the Gunpla to the anime and Gundam customization is my favorite thing. With that said, Breaker game is one of my favorite series, but too bad that i only have a PC, so the only game that i can play is New Gundam Breaker and i'm agree with everything you said with that game. I rrally want to try Breaker 3 but too bad that i don't have the money to buy the console so in the meantimes, i can only play New Breaker to satisfied my need for gunpla customization. With the upcoming release of Gundam Metaverse thingy, i hope Bandai will make a new and good breaker game, preferably for PC too, and take the good thing from Breaker 3 and New Breaker
journey to jaburo had the worst controls of almost any game i've ever played and yet somehow i got insanely good at it all those years ago.beat the story mode, unlocked all the mobile suits in the extra missions mode, s-ranked all of them. i tried to play it again last year and just couldn't fucking stand it. federation vs. zeon i played to death with my brother and got insanely good at.
This just makes me want to play crossfire again also just started playing GBO2 and it's just federation vs Zion and Gundam vs zeta Gundam slowed and with better graphics but I like it well enough
I think you misunderstood what Battle Operations 2 supposed to be (and Im sorry for bringing this up again) Its supposed to be a "battle simulation" series of Gundam games... yes, series. Theres a long list of this style of games The MS are supposed to move like a mountain and everything you do is like swinging a baseball bat underwater. Just put PS2 Gundam games mindset whenever you play Battle Operations 2
You know, I thought I had a serious issue when I look back at how many terrible gundam shows I've watched over the years as a dedicated fan, but this, it's like you watched the TV versions of 0079, G Reco and Unicorn, on PURPOSE. That is some real masochist shit. Good stuff 👍
Tbf the original MSG TV version is better if you don't binge much, also really Zeta and ZZ are not much better in that regard. The bulk of Zeta is: episode begins with characters discussing something for personal conflict, physical ms conflict appears, launch sequence, battle with very minor character development, Hizacks and Nemos are the only losses (also doesn't impact in any way the crew of the spaceships), the villain/rival has his new better ms damaged and retreat (he will come back with a newer more better ms in the next episodes), everyone back at the ship, the personal conflict of the beginning is brought up one more time with a bitter sweet ending, "Oh I can't help believing in you".
Well you can blame bb on the slowness on most ms. Especially support type “high mobility.” Even the Kämpfer, known for its speed, only has 205 hsm. When some other ms in the same tier are faster.
As much as I hate new gundam breaker I found it pretty fun to go on missions get parts and then make my own mobile suit and come up with my own backstory for their development alternate timeline for where and why they were made
Yea, I kinda just grabbed a 100% save file off the internet for NGB and just use it to kitbash and nothing else. I would have liked to use Gundam Breaker Mobile for that, but someone decided to kill it
GBO 2 is hot garbage. I am a heavy clunky mech guy, but the dumb stunning stuff, I just can't take. Also, where I'm from the only 'c0on I've ever known about is in reference to a racoon. Never knew it was a slur. Plus, I just found this video and loved it!
"They put Loran in Spaghetti straps" No he has something around his neck otherwise Loran isn't wearing anything XD Also Koei PLEASE we need a new DW game for Gundam even we in Japan are starved for one T_T Ultimate wasn't...Ultimate it's improved over 3 buuuuuut easily lacking many things/suits as the Vs series shows.
Still watching but I've played a decent amount of Battle Operations 2 since it's steam launch. If you don't like clunky it's definitely not for you especially the chunkster supports. it is a pretty in depth and high skill ceiling game with wacky mechanics and connection issues that can ruin it at times. PC controls i prefer over controller even though controller is superior. If you ever revisit it the girl when you spawn in has some tutorials that help a lot with learning the game. It can be fun and doesn't feel as slow and clunky the more you play it but it's not for everyone. Edit: got to the revisited. my stance on GBO2 players being drywall chip eaters remains (should read some of the reviews for it as they get funny). not liking chunky movement is fine. I come from mechwarrior so I'm used to slow movement i guess
Drywall chip eaters is CRAZY 😂 I appreciate your input. I only like pointing out when people say that should be the norm, which I always will disagree with lol. Both styles of play are fine ofc.
This man just called gbo2 clunky. While using baund doc? damn. Edit: damn this man hates my journey to jaburo. why you hatting on my clunky gundam games?
I'm here to be annoying and say that the PS2 game chapter starts at 1:03:10 and not what you have listed. Other than that, I enjoyed the refreshed intros for each review and using this as an excuse to watch your MS Saga vid~
I watched your video, and while it is good overall, I noticed that you talked mad shit about battle operation 2. I understand why you did it, this game has a surprisingly steep learning curve but once you get good, the game becomes extremely fun. Firstly, about the power difference between units: it does exist, but it's really not as drastic as you make it out to be. As long as you stick to LV1 units in their costs, you should be fine. Secondly, about the baund Doc: it's actually very strong, here is gameplay of a great player using it: ua-cam.com/video/0OLuUpR5LOE/v-deo.html Thirdly, that qubeley player was probably a console veteran, so it's not your fault if you got destroyed, they already knew how to play the game. Fourthly, while the game is slow paced compared to other gundam games, I believe it's a good thing, because it makes it more tactical than some of the other games. The melee system also helps make it more unique by borrowing elements from fighting games, and the game is overall better than if it was a standard hero shooter like Gundam Evo. It is not clunky, you just need to learn how to use the movement mechanics at your disposal.
Thanks for watching, and trust me, I've been barking up the GBO2 tree for years. I've received plenty of versions of your comment and it'll prolly be like that for a while. I just believe that "once you get good at it" just isn't good enough for me to change my mind. If it doesn't feel good at first, I'm gonna be up front about how I feel. I've done that with GBO2 for a few years, and the game is fine like I said, I'm just gonna talk my shit about it lol. Thank you for the comment tho. I did read the whole thing. ❤️
as somebody who likes gbo2 i can only say 2 things, gameplay is for slow mech enjoyers, 2nd: bro this game belongs in the trash, brother golum had more effort put into it then gbo2 pc port, 19% on steam? should be -120%
Lmao the Gollum comparison is WILD. Tbh, Coming from the PS4 to the pc version, ofc it was better, but coming from me, that doesn't mean a whole lot lol
God I miss the Dynasty Warriors Gundam games. We need more Single Player Gundam games damn it.
They were okay, I got one of the rarer games and I never really got the allure.
We definitely need more single player games. I really want a mechwarrior-like game.

idk if Artdink's latest creation "SD Gundam Battle Alliance" could count into the series even having the same name and mashy combat, but I also haven't played and seen much of the gameplay of this yet
Cuz straight wrote a dissertation. Big comment.
Well done! I enjoyed the trip down memory lane! Even inspired me to go back and replay some of these.

stumbled upon this whilst building the RG Char's Zaku, which I reckon is similar to the Battle Assault 3 experience. Just want to say, love your work!
Thank you so much! I'm happy to hear that ❤️
This is out of topic but imagine Bandai make create your own gunpla model kits
This was so good, thanks glad to make sure I saw them all.
I was gonna sub with the gravity rush music on an opening. Skipped to another chapter and you got dual hearts there... wtf!! Hell yeah

you know what's funny tho? after years of breaker games both mobile and consoles, you can finally see the face of GB3's protag...... in the breaker battlogue special anime.
edit : also, can't believe a friend of mine love never ending tomorrow. i tried the story mode until like, halfway point of the series (probably before nicol died, i forgot) and i only play it because there's nothing else cuz i play it on some relatives house in the middle of buttfuck nowhere. play like armored core my ass.
also, AH CROSS ANGE JUMPSCARE
I like Cross ange it's like a guilty pleasure
@@neaosmt1562 same tbh. still better than WFM tho.
The funny thing is that I dint play any of the games that released when MS Saga: A New Dawn came out. I loved that game and can get quite strategic when dealing with tough boss enemies and their attack patterns.
Kinzie I've been watching your videos since last year and I enjoy everyone I watch. Keep it up!
Also Haman #1.
Good to know ❤️
@@KinzieKIf you really want to seek them out, just keep track of what story missions have red dots. That usually either shows a chance to change history of is the ending to that character's story or both.
CROSS ANGE JUMPSCARE SPIKED ME INTO MY GRAVE
Yea, I did look at it and play it, but I just had nothing to say about it ngl. Here's my review tho. It's alright. 😊
I love crossfire. its more realistic and the upgrade system is nice. really makes you feel like you have progressed.
1:34:43 interesting note. The mech animations are often in the teens frame rate wise. So a lot of times even if the frame rate isn't bad it has the illusion of looking bad as the animations seem to have been done in low FPS. You notice this when playing it on emulation and yet even at 60FPS the animations look like 15FPS. lol
Damn them bars was legit crossfire 😂
This video reminded me to get SRW T, so thanks.
I've not been watching you for awhile but have watched a sizeable amount of your Gundam videos especially and I've loved your content so far. Keep up the great work, Do you plan to cover Gundam Breakers 4 when it releases?
I super duper appreciate that, and yes, I will be covering GB4. 👌🏽❤️
I can't wait for that then, GB4 looks super promising so far. So let's hope it provides, Look forward to seeing what else you put out. @@KinzieK
I'm usually not into Super Deformed, but Battle Alliance gameplay is really good, and we dont got lots of Gundam game on PS4
Congrats on finishing that monster of a video.😊
Gunpla is to Gundam what 'actually playing tabletop' is to Warhammer 40k.
you know kenzie, as a GBO2 fan, you arent wrong about it, i just like the clunk of it but i can see most people disliking it
Randomly finding this video on UA-cam recommendation and this is an awesome video.
Hell yea 😎
My friend and I play maxi boost on whenever he visits me. We do 1v1's and we have a blast!
I think you misunderstood what Battle Operations 2 supposed to be (and Im sorry for bringing this up again)
Its supposed to be a "battle simulation" series of Gundam games... yes, series. Theres a long list of this style of games
The MS are supposed to move like a mountain and everything you do is like swinging a baseball bat underwater. Just put PS2 Gundam games mindset whenever you play Battle Operations 2
I've addressed this in the GBO2 comment response section ❤️
I forgot to add that Operation British was the best thing to happen to earth. ;)
Despite Gihren's involvement... You're spitting 🗣️🗣️

Let's goooooooo! Thanks for this masterpiece!!
As much as I hate new gundam breaker I found it pretty fun to go on missions get parts and then make my own mobile suit and come up with my own backstory for their development alternate timeline for where and why they were made
i have a like-hate relationship with Gundam Crossfire.
One last thing you videos are awesome so i hope you keep doing well in life
You're so nice! Thank you so much. And thank you for your comments. I read them all 😊
@@KinzieK your so welcome

Yea, I kinda just grabbed a 100% save file off the internet for NGB and just use it to kitbash and nothing else. I would have liked to use Gundam Breaker Mobile for that, but someone decided to kill it
Sorry dude, I killed it. 💀

Where is the handheld gundam game titles like the Gundam Battle/Assult Series for PSP/PSV?
Gundam evolution is pretty cool
I didn't know that SRWT released in the US.
I just lumped it in with the rest of them.
Your a soldier king
It's not amazing, but I've always had a soft spot for the Zeta Gundam game on Famicom.
It just amazes me that gundam games date back that far, and America hasn't even seen a fraction of them.

Gamer Gundam
"They put Loran in Spaghetti straps" No he has something around his neck otherwise Loran isn't wearing anything XD Also Koei PLEASE we need a new DW game for Gundam even we in Japan are starved for one T_T Ultimate wasn't...Ultimate it's improved over 3 buuuuuut easily lacking many things/suits as the Vs series shows.
High key that only makes it better LMAO
Indeed ;P@@KinzieK
Hope the keep of the trend of bringing the gundam games to NA #gundam break 3❤

Gundam battle operation 2 is fun i prefer maxiboost on but both are great to me
This man just called gbo2 clunky. While using baund doc? damn.
Edit: damn this man hates my journey to jaburo. why you hatting on my clunky gundam games?
Lmao you just answered your own question 😂

Secondly, about the baund Doc: it's actually very strong, here is gameplay of a great player using it: ua-cam.com/video/0OLuUpR5LOE/v-deo.html
Thirdly, that qubeley player was probably a console veteran, so it's not your fault if you got destroyed, they already knew how to play the game.
Play front mission series. Dont play evolved or left alive those are worse spinoffs
the encounters in space hate is unbelievable, the controls aren't bad, you just suck
I said the controls are "not bad, not good, just dumb". Keep up. I don't like the controls, really easy and simple to understand.
Zeon did nothing wrong tho
