Watching these games, the one thing I noticed Nightmare doing a lot was microing stalkers to constantly shave medivacs, vikings and ghosts specifically, keeping their numbers as low as possible. Trusting the storms, zealots, and collosus to keep the marine/marauder count in check. What a treat or a series to watch
damn, nightmare plays protoss to the protoss fantasy. Feels like he is a hunter, rather than the death ball. Going to be my favorite protoss if he improves. I hope he gets better.
MaxPax's aggressive stalker timings have been a treat as well, however nightmare seems to have a special concoction that can defeat terrans just as well if not better
As a plain Observer of SC games and having love for the Protoss race, it was an absolute spectacle to watch a 'Toss player have DECISIVE victories against Terran players like Byun and Clem.
I'm not typically ever excited to see a Hero or MaxPax game, but this Nightmare guy... What a blast to watch. He's really making Protoss feel powerful again.
Thanks for being so consistent, so funny and so enthusiastic about casting pro series of sc2. You started as a casual caster and you became my every day one. Thanks again, and keep it going man.
7 Key takeaways for Protoss: 1. Prioritize killing ghosts & medivacs. 2. Use Feedback to keep their energy low (same as killing for a battle but easier to snipe with). 3. Build 3-5 observers when not making immortals or collossi (cheaper than a scan & same build time as an overlord 18sec). 4. Don't build mass Disruptors. 5. Build High Templars instead. 6. Don't build archons until you use High Templar spells first. 7. Don't clump archons together and have them lead the charge so they take 1 full EMP without affecting nearby units. In a battle ghosts account for about 40-55% of all damage with EMP (depending on how low the HP of the Protoss army is without shields). Medivacs are the sustain so that fights can last longer than 3 stims (30 seconds). Storms quickly bring the bio low enough to get 1-2 shot by gateway units. This takes immaculate control by Protoss and can get countered still by cloaked ghosts and being out of position.
notice how in the last game Nightmare switches in and out of colossi. Terran ends up building vikings just in case - and in half the battles, the vikings are wasted supply cause there are no colossi. the last fight shows this as well, Terran's bio is getting obliterated while he's frantically landing a bunch of vikings.
Love your videos Winter, your casting is fantastic! I went ahead and bought your announcer voice on SC2. I hope the best for you man, keep doing what you are doing.
I agree though the benefit of disruptors is that they dont care about emps and if you get enough of them to constantly throw balls (so at around 7 or 8) you can basically keep an opponent constantly on the run.
HTs also feel cheaper to get enough to pose a threat, I think. They come out of Warpgates, which Protoss always wants a lot of. You don't need a dozen just to start being A Problem. even then, Disruptors are more a threat of damage instead of actually dealing damage, on top of taking a ton of effort to use and taking APM away from the rest of the army. Also Storms are effective against air units.
Glad you like it. It's been around for a decade, but you don't see it nearly as much. Probably cuz if you miscontrol the WP, you lose all of the Templar.
SPOILER: 34:35 HOW DID HE KNOW???? I was looking at the second game and thinking "how does byun come back from this there's no way, it has to be some terran bullshit"... But ig we have the clem games for that, you can never end PvT without disappointment :> EVEN MORE SPOILER: nvm, this is peak toss performance from nightmare
I don't play Starcraft online, but I love to watch your and Lowko's casts. While watching them in the last months I always wondered why Protoss do not use Storms against Terran bio? It seemed to make more sense than unreliable Disruptors. Nightmare showed me that this style is possible and can be super effective. Especially in the last match we see how he is lower in supply but takes those fights like he is on even. Also he is not only dragging Templars with his main army, but juggles them in Prisms, flanks with them and sets up little ambushes. Great performance indeed!
Ha, been wondering if he'll bring up the fact that Protoss don't have mouths. Been a bit. I usually use these vids to fall asleep, so I only get the early funny. Thanks man.
Nightmare played like a champ. His unit control was so incredibly good, especially considering against who he is doing it. Easily this week's best game of pvt of the year for me. Winter ist the goat anyway.
Dewd...... Finally, something new... I mean it's not actually new, but they said it's old and rusty and it doesn't work anymore.... Thank you for casting ❤
I really think Nightmare's should be upgraded to 5 cost and 4 health. He's been on a rampage this year, putting on a much better showing than most other Protoss. The heavy focus on killing or using feedback on the medivacs is looking incredibly strong right now.
Hey Winter, thanks for the great content I love these series with the anti spoiler bonus game and seeing how they fair against other players with similar play styles. You are a cut above the other SC II casters. One day I want to learn how to play the game before it is retired for good! 😂
So very satisfying to see templar storm used in such a dominating fashion. Harkens to the SC1 days. Even more satisfying is watching Protoss storm into oblivion those filthy, filthy terrans and their poo poo bio ball of terran filth. En Taro Nightmare!
WoL deathball, I'm Z main, and never could get the hang of disruptors, kept killing myself. With storm I have killed mass rays, mass Thor, mass Marines, emptied many a mineral line and I only kill my own chargalot. Nightmare was good at not doing that, I noticed, and made judicious use of his units in general, baiting vike with lone collossi, keeping that one immortal alive - lost a few prisms, but doesn't just throw them away. He was behind in supply most of the game it seemed, but taking engagements and kiting the units he needed to, wp.
notice how in the last game Nightmare switches in and out of colossi. Clem ends up building vikings just in case - and in half the battles, the vikings are wasted supply cause there are no colossi. the last fight shows this too, Clem's bio is getting obliterated while he's frantically landing a bunch of vikings.
wow there were so many extremely thoughful moments of army micro in this one. the way he pushes the terran to the stairs w/ chargelots then retreats w/ them so they can get their shields back without terran return fire. the way he positions the collossueses. and my god the high templar usage made me wanna switch back to protoss
"But the storm, the historical and literal counter to vikings" my God man you've done it again.
Taking out the Ghosts on Ghost River and Drowning them, in the Storm!
Winter simply the best caster of professional sc2
"Nightmare isn't afraid of Ghosts" is such a hard line.
Ghostbusters!
Also the fact he was feedbacking the medivacs to both deal damage and get the energy down so they can't heal that much. Just perfection
Great comment!
damn, nightmare plays protoss to the protoss fantasy. Feels like he is a hunter, rather than the death ball. Going to be my favorite protoss if he improves. I hope he gets better.
Yeah, he's looking pretty scary to play against lol
This might be the best display I've seen in years of PvT
MaxPax's aggressive stalker timings have been a treat as well, however nightmare seems to have a special concoction that can defeat terrans just as well if not better
As a plain Observer of SC games and having love for the Protoss race, it was an absolute spectacle to watch a 'Toss player have DECISIVE victories against Terran players like Byun and Clem.
Winter with his own extra sauce to drizzle on his metaphorical speak
I'm not typically ever excited to see a Hero or MaxPax game, but this Nightmare guy... What a blast to watch. He's really making Protoss feel powerful again.
Every time it's a Nightmare game like this, I hear Avenged Sevenfold blasting in my head.
NIGHTMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARE
That was an absolute treat to watch. Well done, Nightmare!
Thanks for being so consistent, so funny and so enthusiastic about casting pro series of sc2. You started as a casual caster and you became my every day one. Thanks again, and keep it going man.
What a first game by Nightmare! That warp prism dance at the end 😂😂

OK. i Trust you Winter!
No. Subscribed, liked, but no watch, we can't blindly trust slimy terrans or far right protoss!
we trust in jimmy. amon.
We are once again here because winter has invoked the sacred “Trust me bro”
I do enjoy this kind of play from Nightmare, very technical, very clean movement.
Nightmare's control was out of this world, even to feedback ghosts one by one before they can use EMP.
This play is a terran nightmare.
Love your videos Winter, your casting is fantastic! I went ahead and bought your announcer voice on SC2. I hope the best for you man, keep doing what you are doing.
This is evidence that High Templar is just clearly better than Disruptor against best players.
100% thats why im sometimes extremely lost as to why Creator kept picking disruptrs when HT is the real damage dealer.....
I agree though the benefit of disruptors is that they dont care about emps and if you get enough of them to constantly throw balls (so at around 7 or 8) you can basically keep an opponent constantly on the run.

This was the most rat gameplay I have ever seen, the warp prism protecting the high templar from the EMP was 2000 IQ
Glad you like it. It's been around for a decade, but you don't see it nearly as much. Probably cuz if you miscontrol the WP, you lose all of the Templar.
here's how i know i've watched too many of your videos, im humming along perfectly to the background music.
I really appreciate the directly positive coverage of Nightmare. I’m not a Protoss, but I think his play is just sick.
BROS ... Did nightmare just solve -PvZ- 😮
EDIT: PvT god damn it :D
Now THAT was some good protoss play. Well done Nightmare!
not throwing the kitchen sink... man you made me laugh there 😂 thanks for casting my dude
Love watching protoss, and especially a toss boss like this!
Thnx for the bonus video :)
Winter says trust, I trust
Thanks for the content dude, your commentary is amazing and hope you forever continue 🙏
Crazy to be up resource lost vs a terran.
If only winter could cast every major pro game
Wow Nightmare, amazing job! Really looking like he was playing at the top of his game, and deeply understands the matchup.
Cleanest Toss I've seen in months, honestly.
that unmerged archon floating towards the fight at 49:30 had me cackling
I'm honestly glad you remind us to like and subscribe at the beginning every time. I forget until you tell me every time.... EVERY TIME
Anti-spoiler games are the most genius idea to come from any caster since the days Artosis cast with Tasteless
Big kudos to Nightmare. What excellence!
Thank you, Winter, for bringing this to our attention!
Nightmare is Dark levels in controlling the race's strategy.
He's getting there
Templar are amazing when used right. And archons used to soak up hits for other units in a pinch. Beautiful.
19:32 Protoss are known to taste with their feet
Best moment: 52:03 the mule casually walking through the battle
52:19 mule walking back is the icing on the cake
Winter's casting just brightens up the day 😂
SPOILER:
34:35 HOW DID HE KNOW???? I was looking at the second game and thinking "how does byun come back from this there's no way, it has to be some terran bullshit"... But ig we have the clem games for that, you can never end PvT without disappointment :>
EVEN MORE SPOILER:
nvm, this is peak toss performance from nightmare
"a time of relative darkness for protoss... and not because they blink so much" dude WHERE DO YOU GET THIS ABSOLUTE FIRE FROM
The warp prism spaz/dance LOL
I don't play Starcraft online, but I love to watch your and Lowko's casts. While watching them in the last months I always wondered why Protoss do not use Storms against Terran bio? As soon as you mentioned an "underrated" SC2 player, I knew it was NightMare.
Petition to add "Hero of the Storm" to NightMare's nickname list
Nightmare expands a lot compared to other protoss which helps him sustain and replenish his army extremely quickly. It's very good
This Protoss does indeed play beautifully. (And I'm a Zerg player...)
The last match was an absolute banger! More Nightmare pls
Nightmare ... no the player we deserve but the Protoss we need!!
Winter gotta be one of my favorite personalities of all time
Dewd......
Finally, something new...
I mean it's not actually new, but they said it's old and rusty and it doesn't work anymore....
Thank you for casting
❤
I love the amount of Zealots used.
“Hero take notes!” 😂😂😂
That storm drop was epic
We love you, Winter!
I was actually just watching this match up from 4 mo the ago that Winter casted. Checked my recommendations, and here it is again after the patch.
Officially new fav player. There's still hope for Aiur!
next patch: EMP size increased by 500% and cost 5 energy
colossus switch, spreading ht, ht-warp combo, killing medivacs and map scouting !!!
Even in the summer, I long for Winter
Winter says: “trust me bro”
I see: 53 minute video
My small brain says: “okay”
he may not be the protoss we deserve, but he is the protoss we need
Protoss was always weak when in PvT match up but these games just lit a flame of faith in Protoss in me again
Beautiful style
You know you have a good strategy if even the caster is distracted from the action
AWESOME Games!!!🤙🏻 Thank you!🙏🏻
Maybe Nightmare should change his name to EndlessWinter, cause the storms just kept coming.
idk bout yall, but ive been liked and subbed since day 1
Winter is comming and brings storms and salt
After watching a few hundred of your videos I thought nothing could surprise me anymore, but... YOU CAN HAVE TWO PRISMS????
Finally a toss who stands a chance against terran
templar feedback should also have an area effect like EMP
Wow, great matches
Winter you need to teach a math class fr, i would always watch
Veri NAJSU first game!
I really think Nightmare's should be upgraded to 5 cost and 4 health. He's been on a rampage this year, putting on a much better showing than most other Protoss. The heavy focus on killing or using feedback on the medivacs is looking incredibly strong right now.
I would watch a winter card ranking video for sure
Oooo a nightmare game I love his games
Hey Winter, thanks for the great content I love these series with the anti spoiler bonus game and seeing how they fair against other players with similar play styles. You are a cut above the other SC II casters. One day I want to learn how to play the game before it is retired for good! 😂
i dont play this game but have watched many many videos, that first game was probably one of the most entertaining game ive seen so far!
So very satisfying to see templar storm used in such a dominating fashion. Harkens to the SC1 days.
Even more satisfying is watching Protoss storm into oblivion those filthy, filthy terrans and their poo poo bio ball of terran filth.
En Taro Nightmare!
as a soft slimy cerebrate watching from the bushes off to the side, I'm not even a part of this conversation. but I couldn't agree more!
WoL deathball, I'm Z main, and never could get the hang of disruptors, kept killing myself. With storm I have killed mass rays, mass Thor, mass Marines, emptied many a mineral line and I only kill my own chargalot.

Winter just loves Nightmare. With good reason though.
Liked for the StarCraft. Subbed for the math lessons.
Love how i misjudged the length.. wont be spoiling
I can be awesome only once, I'll drop the like just for Jimmy
Frisky Dingo
☃️❄️☃️
Jimmy on point 🌩️🌩️🌩️
👀😈👀
IN WINTER WE TRUST!
Oh it's Nightmare, I've been wondering for weeks because he doesn't have his name on the card
OP toss, to many perks for them
🎉Let's Freaking Go Jimmy, Winter Casting sc2! Means of course, my day is better
Title - "Just trust me Bro!"
Amazing games winter , thanx for make my day a little bit better ❤
i feel like the purpose of the colossus is to soak viking shots for the templar prism
notice how in the last game Nightmare switches in and out of colossi. Clem ends up building vikings just in case - and in half the battles, the vikings are wasted supply cause there are no colossi. the last fight shows this too, Clem's bio is getting obliterated while he's frantically landing a bunch of vikings.

Om nom nom
Nightmare's macro on that last game was insane
Toss OP 🎉
