      @@Eidrian111 these things are stout man many people have went well above 700 wheel on 07-09 with no problems. The rods are pretty similar in all the gt500s I've heard the pistons are little stouter on the aluminum block cars because they got handed down from the cj but the rods still limit them to 750-800 just like all the rest of them. These early cars can make some steam. Plenty of octane and respect to rpm (don't go much above 6300ish on big power cars) and they will live at big power levels. They definitely aren't "iffy" above 700. They're just as trustworthy at 800 as the later ones.

    Quick question, what kind of additional rwhp would you gain from all the modifications including headers, exhaust, and possibly e85??

    • @michaelharris748
      @michaelharris748 5 років тому +1

      I think its possible to get right around 600 on 93 if you have these mods plus long tubes and a full 3 inch catless exhaust. You would obviously be a little north of that on e85...i think 625 is very possible imo. These cars arent as bad as the 13-14 make them appear stock vs stock...ecspecially the 07-09. As he said once you get an aftermarket intake the 07-12 are basically the same minus the iron block that is on the 07-10. I would def prefer an 11-12 because of the body style plus the aluminum block and factory knock sensors etc...plus the engine looks better with blue valve covers and a silver supercharger. But powerwise 07-12 is basically the same once you have an aftermarket intake and tune which is usually one of the first things people do anyways.

    • @VMPPerformanceTV
      @VMPPerformanceTV  5 років тому

      Most people upgrade the blower at that point, as the gains from those mods are not great with the little stock M122 heat pump. However, with a bigger more efficient blower, the gains are very good.

      The first thing we recommend with anyone that's purchased a second hand modified car is to gather up the information regarding modifications and purchase their own tune for it. This helps establish a baseline and gets a tuner on your team to take logs and help you keep the car in tip-top performance. Just give us a call at the shop or shoot us an email to sales@vmpperformance.com and our support team can assist with getting you a new device and tuning sorted out.

    damn I was really hoping you were going to say the max would be 600whp.
    I actually have quesitons on what is the best way to put the power down other than tires? I've been slowly upgrading the suspension on my car but if I shift hard and fast enough I'll just light up the tires in 2nd with traction control on. Off It just lights up at like half throttle. Honestly I think I may need to move to drag slicks at this point.

    • @VMPPerformanceTV

      Tires are really the best option to get the power down to the ground.

    • @michaelharris748
      @michaelharris748 4 роки тому

      Shocks and struts along with some upper and lower control arms really help but you also need drag radials too if youre up in the 400-500 whp range or higher imo. Street tires just aint gonna hook that much power, theyre just not. You can get to 600 on stock blower if you do long tubes, full 3 inch exhaust, 2.6 upper 10% lower, monoblade tbody or twin 69 whichever u prefer both will pick up big power and vmps high flow elbow you should be pretty close to 600 wheel and north of that in torque but def make sure you upgrade the heat exchanger its gonna heat soak like crazy spinning the blower that quick but its been done 600/600 on stock blowers on the 5.4 cars

How about you sell me Track Attack then all i would have to do is ship it to Australia & unfortunately I'd have to have it converted to right hand drive but I'm assuming Ford Australia could do that without stuffing it up. Then I'd have the baddest Mustang in Australia & rusty would be a very happy boy. But oh well it's free to dream isn't it. It's incredible how easily you can change out ugly & restrictive parts & increase your horse power & the look of the engine bay. Meanwhile I will keep looking for a used Mustang that I can then do exactly what your talking to us about in today's vid then maybe get you guys to do a tune remotely ?when I buy the parts I would change out. I'd also like to put your new VMP gen 3 supercharger on it, may as well do the job properly hey. Thanks Justin you've given me food for thought on options I can use. Hope Rebecca is doing well & can't wait for another chucky episode at the track mate. Be well guys & have a good-one. RustyinOz

      Where did that come from? I been watching these cars be modded for 15 years. They can so 600 wheel on stock blower and 700-800 with a blower swap. Some guys have pushed them even further and raced the shit out of them and they live but 800ish is considered the max safe limit on them which is a good 350+ wheel above above 07-09 numbers. Not sure where this whole gt500s can't take much more than stock power bs came from.

    best upgrade for a Gt500 is to sell it & get a Terminator Cobra.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 2 роки тому

      Um no lol. Idk why people think terminators are "upgrades" the gt500 literally has a better setup from front to back. The only part on the car that the terminator had that is better is the factory rods but the gt500s can easily take 700-800 to the wheels in stock form. The heat exchanger is better, the engine is larger, the heads are better, the stock blower is better, the Trans is better, the rear end is stouter being solid axle and needs less upgrades for big power, the fuel system is better, the ecu is better, the brakes are better, it's just a better car front to back other than the rods. But it ain't like the rods are weak when guys are doing 700-800+ to the wheels and beating the shit out of them and they live. The gt500 is 250 lbs heavier coupe vs coupe but when equally modded they make 100 more whp easily that is more than enough to offset the weight difference. I love both cars but the bias one sided opinions from terminator guys are kind of cliche.
