    Hey new owner here and in the works of changing and replacing the coil packs and plugs as well. Never realized you had to tune spark plugs in general lol but how do you determine what gap size you should be running or the process of it? I just installed 2.4 metco pulley and gates green belt
    Thanks

      The gap of the spark plug is determined on what boost level you're running. With a 2.4 pulley, I'd gap within the 0.028-0.030 ranges.

    Which plugs did you use? Am changing mine for Venomus tuning and I’m looking at NGK #3346. Thanks

      Yea, those are the same ones I went back with. Cheap and work great

    Thanks for the video, how many miles were on the car when you did this job? Did you go with motorcraft coil packs? Did you notice any improvement after doing this job with the car?

      Car was about to turn over 100k. Motorcraft OEM coils are the only ones worth buying for these cars. Never aftermarket.

      @@OctaneSlain thanks man, yeah I wound up using Motorcraft coils

    How many miles on the plugs/coils before you changed them? We're you having issues before the change, or just doing it as normal maintenance?

    • @OctaneSlain
      @OctaneSlain  8 місяців тому +1

      I had just purchased the car, so I was doing all general maintenance just for the ease of mind. Plugs usually need to be changed around 10k with the copper plugs and with a blower swapped/small pulley. OEM coils usually never go bad. But when they do you will have misfires along with CELs. Plugs usually show their symptoms under boost. If you get a stutter while WOT it could be time for new plugs or a tighter plug gap.

      @@OctaneSlain Car (stock) comes with Platinum plugs good for about 40K miles (according to owners manual). My GT500 engine is stock. I'll likely replace mine in another year or so as my mileage is getting closer to the recommended change interval. No issues with my car drivability either.
