You are the first youtuber i ever saw that show us the articles and studies that actually prove the efficacy of the exercises! Congratulations on your professionalism!! Must follow you !!
i love when knowledge is used to teach and not just show and tell.. this always helps to better understand what, how, and why each exercise works. thank you
angelisa t ikr! Most videos are just girls trying to look cute and they explain almost nothing. Also I noticed how she uses a rolled up yoga mat for cushion on the bar during the hip thrusts.. GENIUS! I bought a water noodle and cut it 😂
I loved how you explained why these exercises work!! So many ppl just say "do this and it'll work" but there's nothing better than understanding why you should do them 💪🏾.
Not only does your science approach help us understand what’s going on it gives me surety and confidence that the workout will work. It makes me want to continue sticking to this journey and not give up just because I’m unsure if the workout is actually helping me if I don’t see a change right away
I've watched so many videos about glute exercises and this was by far my favorite! I loved hearing the science and history behind WHY each exercise works.. I loved it!!!!
I used to have a gym buddy but then she moved away. I started going to the gym all by myself and that is when i finally started to see results. Going together is all fun and games but when you go by yourself you can get so much more done and focus on your workout only!
I LOVED this! I have very little curve in my hips and not enough people talk about this. I also love how you wore lighter colored pants so we could see your muscles move and see what you were working.
Love how you evidence the exercises. I need to strengthen my glute medius, post hip replacement, and this video explains everything so clearly. Thank you!
I love how scientific this video is. And I appreciate that you explain the workouts, I can actually see those muscles working as you do the exercises! Great vid!
these types of descriptions are exactly what i'm looking for! people list different glute exercises without a reason on why! so thanks for this! definitely using all of these!
This is fantastic, thank you for showing the science of how our body works. As a walking sports injury, I am trying to stabilize my pelvis as a priority. This is soooo crucial for my rehabilitation. I can feel a difference after one day of hitting this video’s targets. You’re an amazing person! Science is sexy and knowledge is power!
I LOVE how you do all of this research and explain everything! I love it and it helps so much! I'm definitely subscribing and pressing the bell!! I don't see many people that do this much research and explain it. Amazing ❤️❤️
You and Abby Pollack are the only fitness UA-camrs I know who incorporate scientific data about anything related to exercise into their videos. And I must say - I absolutely love it. It's nice to see information backed up with research for once. Thank you for sharing :)
As a middle aged guy with lifelong sacrum shifting/imbalance issues this muscle is vital for stability. Thank you for showing me some new ways to isolate them, the science backing everything up is very impressive! New sub for Lucy :) Happy New Year 2019!!
Aaaaaand you get a like and a sub for citing studies for your workout and for blurring ppl in the back of your vid. Science and consideration for others, excellent.
These exercises are so good at targeting that muscle that you can actually see it working as she's doing the exercises! Amazing options! Thank you for sharing.
This video is going to help me so much in this off season! Been struggling with low back problems and I think it’s because my gluteus medius is weak compared to the rest of the muscles around it and I’m not firing it properly. I can tell these are already going to make me cramp up but I need to fight through that pain and get these gmeds stronger!!!
Wow i am so amazed. Ive seen workout videos before but never one where they explain the science behind it. First time wathing one of your videos and i am so happy I did. I had to subscribe. Cant wait to see more. Thank you so much.
I think she means she has butt at the bottom but at the top of the glute not a lot. This is the same for me i have bottom booty but not a lot of top booty 😂😂😂
I love the backwards on the hip abductor machine and those rotations with the band! Out of all the booty exercises I've seen, I haven't seen those yet! Def need to try it out!!
I have spent months researching relieving back muscles pain naturally and discovered a great website at Fergs Pain Ease (google it if you're interested)
I tried different glutes exercises for the past 2 weeks, I do a lot of them! What I don't understand is why doesn't my glutes burn ,and they don't hurt either. I do the exercises the right way...why doesn't the glutes muscles hurt like the hamstrings or the quads? Help feel like I'm doing all of it for nothing.
lucie rodrigue I’m not sure if this will help, but this is what worked for me: increase the amount of weights you’re using, do hipthrusts (they burn a lot), check your form, squeeze your glutes hard when you’re doing certain exercises like squats and hipthrusts
New to your channel! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the scientific approach to your videos! I love that you give sources to back up your knowledge and the why behind the exercises! You’re definitely my new go to channel now!!
Gluteus min is directly under Gluteus med. Glut min / glut med also share the same insertion point (greater trochanter of the femur). Glut min is a synergist to Glut Med, meaning any exercise aimed at Glut Med is also going to target Glut min as both of these muscles work together to do the same action.
Thank you, Lucy. This is the first video I've watched of yours. I am now subscribed to your channel. I appreciate the science you included in here. I like the way you put everything together in this video. Keep up the great work!
Usually I hate when they give you info but you actually make it make sense. Lol Most other people just sound like they're repeating something they heard in another video.
I ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ how you give us ALL these random glute exercises AND explanations with them all!! I really struggle with the little bit of cellulite I have left in my glutes. I wish I could send u my before and after pic.. I have challenges with lunges cause I have a bad knee and bad circulation in my legs
Really enjoyed this workout!! I found holding your arms out while doing the one leg squat exercise helped balance myself better. Loved the internal hip rotation. Feeling the burn! Thank you Lucy 💜
among all workout videos in youtube, i think ur channel worth to trust.. full of knowledge n scientific evidence. n based on research too!! nice n good job lucy
I really like that toe pivot exersize! Gonna have to try that. Reminds me of a hip flexor exersize fitness faqs showed for help with front lever. You lay on a bench face down and the edge comes to the top of your hip. You tuck your knees down then straighten your legs and can hold a straight isometric also. Afterwards it feels like working these mescles that never get worked out. It feels nice and tingly.
Thank you so much for describing the biomechanics of the exercises so clearly. I also really appreciated the research references. I was looking for more exercises to do with my workout band and those that you do here look great!
You don't need a gym to do these exercises. For example, you can do a glute bridge at the end of a chair or bed without the smith machine barbell and just bodyweight, if you have bands just put them above your knees or if you have dumbbells just hold them on your upper thighs. Of course, you can do the other exercises without bands or weight just use your bodyweight. There are inexpensive bands you can buy. You can also use the edge of your bed or a chair for the single leg squats. Put a band right above your ankles to do the side to side steps or use no weight, just stay in a low squat at all time while you do this exercise. Hope this helps. 🤗
Ok, i'm a guy, and this is my first video of yours, and hoenstly, I'm not sure what I'm geek-crushing on more: the fact based, qualitative research method you showed, the engaging nature of your video training, or your flat out sexiness and effectiveness as a trainer. I will _definitely_ be looking up your videos again. Thanks, Lucy; well done. Show a video for strenghtening and opening the hips, and you;ve got yourself a new subsrciber!
every programmer on the planet needs this if they work for more than 10y. Can ignore it but eventually it causes posture imbalance and atrophy leading to pain and dysfunction.
I Apryl sharing the science behind it. It helps me visualize what I’m doing with each movement as opposed to just doing some exercise. It helps with mind-muscle connection
as someone who is a "young" 55 with a bad hip- this is a great video. Only questionable is the first lift on weight machine. That looks heavy and noone should do that without instruction from a trainer. Props to you- great research. Hips hold us up and it is horrible to use a cane!!
I just found this while looking for exercises for the three different glute muscles. LOVE the science study references, super big on these things of things. Gonna add some of these exercises in.
loved this video! in so many "glute workout" videos, whether it's targeting the gluteus max or med, its always the same workouts that I've seen a million times, which Im sure is because they work, but its still nice to see some new exercises I haven't seen before. Keeps going to the gym interesting. Cant wait to try this out!
Just stumbled upon your video and i hit the like button 3 min in. Loved this video. Thank you for putting in the time, i appreciate it. Just received my band in the mail yesterday so when im hitting the gym later today i will def try the band work and the single limb squat. Also swear by hip thrusts; the best!. Thanks again
Awesome video. I must try some or all of these methods. Thanks for sharing and thanks for explaining in detail what we are working on and why these exercises are important for what we desire to achieve.
yes that is true that the sidelying hip abduction ( in the study i read it was called calm exerise) does activate the glute medius ( in relation to activation of TFL) HOWEVER i would not use this exercise as it is not functionally training glute medius and would only use this exercise in a hospital setting or with people who need to activate their glute medius but other exercises were not appropriate I would suggest crab walks with theraband, bridges and squats as a better alternative to glute medius exercises
love the fact that you're using peer reviewed research to justify the effectiveness of the exercises on the target area. I know proper lit. review takes a lot of time and effort being a researcher myself, this is great! totally subscribed.
I was doing the hip thrust but since I don’t have any equipment I tried using my 1 year old. I made him sit on me. Lol and boy, after the exercise I can feel my butt burn! That exercise is very effective!
OMG you are amazing!! This is just the channel I needed to push my glute workout to the next level. I love videos that explain the science behind the movements, that way I can better modify the exercise to fit my own body and my own goals, long and short term. Subbed and liked!!
Everything about this video was very interesting and helpful for me, but I am from Mexico and I usually use automatic subtitles to understand better and I recommend that you to update them because in the part where you mention the activation of the medium glute in the hip thrust it says you can't tweak it to activate this muscle instead of you can tweak the exercise to activate it. I know it's something that it's not related to the quality of the video because as I said it is a very professional and good video but that little detail can confuse somebody else who is using the subtitles cuz there is a big difference between the word can and can't. But besides that little mistake that is not your fault at all I consider this material very important and congratulations for your Channel I am definitely subscribed to your Channel.
You are the first youtuber i ever saw that show us the articles and studies that actually prove the efficacy of the exercises! Congratulations on your professionalism!! Must follow you !!

@@Yusra99 i agree💯💯 i workout with and without friends. Defiantly more results when you workout by yourself. no f*ckin question
I love how you scientifically explain it! It makes so much more sense. Then you learn how to target whatever muscle for better results.
I LOVED this! I have very little curve in my hips and not enough people talk about this. I also love how you wore lighter colored pants so we could see your muscles move and see what you were working.
The soreness of my booty didn't let me forget to tell you it was a great workout! :)
How many reps and sets?
Love how you evidence the exercises. I need to strengthen my glute medius, post hip replacement, and this video explains everything so clearly. Thank you!
I love how you add science before the workouts. I wish others could do that.
It’s great that you included research articles and blurred the people in the gym. Love the video. Thank you
I've been looking for something like this! Research and information to explain why exercises are good and for what. Love it!
I love how scientific this video is. And I appreciate that you explain the workouts, I can actually see those muscles working as you do the exercises! Great vid!
these types of descriptions are exactly what i'm looking for! people list different glute exercises without a reason on why! so thanks for this! definitely using all of these!
Watching and learning from lucy is my jam. But also helps me as a man with my workout.
she is so honest
telling or sharing every important things 🥰
Love the science portion! So unique and so helpful! It’s like getting educated while working out!

About the 2nd to last exercise, that’s one of the best ways to use that machine I’ve seen. Solid tip.
Love this! I was an aerobics instructor for 13 years and yet I still learned a ton of stuff here. Just subscribed! Thank you!!
This changed my LIFE! Thank you for being so thorough!

This a silly but thrue. I always felt that using too hard/too much elastic band can bend the legs.
I loveeee the scientific information that you give. It really helps with curating my work out.

aww i was so hyped cause this is exactly what i needed but she started doing it in the gym and ion got none of that on this coronacation
Start with what you got, also five below has booty bands, dumbbells, and those plates for cheap.
You don't need a gym to do these exercises. For example, you can do a glute bridge at the end of a chair or bed without the smith machine barbell and just bodyweight, if you have bands just put them above your knees or if you have dumbbells just hold them on your upper thighs.
