    So many people missed the point of this video. She didn't say that squats don't grow booty!! She said that it grows thigh and booty, and that if you are satisfied with the size of your thighs, then you should focus on your butt more using some of these workouts!! Some of these comments!!!

    Honestly I squat and I am quad dominant and almost never feel it in my glutes unless I do a stupid amount of them. Thank you for posting this video! Squats don't make booty's as much as people think!

      Have you tried really focusing on your glutes to isolate and get them activated? Some of the people I've trained with didn't realize they weren't activating their glutes properly, once they figured it out could they tell a huge difference with feeling the muscle activate/ engage and then seeing growth from it.

      jaylenenmaraela no. To grow the muscle u need to lift heavy - then muscle will start growing. Without added weights u wont get muscle hypertrophy.

      Lol, I most certainly do. I hate it when my thighs touch, i find it very uncomfortable. And one of the reasons i've been staying away from squats so much is because i personally don't like the results of big muscular legs. It looks great on some people, i just don't want that for myself. Hence the reason for this video :)

      It also depends on other things too, like morphology and muscle memory. I've played soccer for years when i was younger, and now, 10 years later, i barely have to do anything for my thighs to explode. Which isn't what i prefer. So this video is useful for me in that way. It doesn't mean your ass and legs won't match... the only way for them to not match is if you get butt implants. Otherwise you'll still be working your legs minimally, so if you acquire a butt with working out, you won't get "stick legs with a big butt". It's quite obvious and logical.

    Half these ppl commenting below obviously haven't worked out enough to know that these are glute isolated exercises... meaning they mainly target and grow the gluteus. Squats are a group working exercise so they do not mainly target the glutes.... you would have to do specific variations of squats with high weight and high reps to even see a slight difference in your glutes. These exercises work much faster with less work and are the best exercise if you don't want bulky thighs. This is good info for ppl like me who are quad dominate! I'm speaking from experience since I have tested this myself. lol

    Amen to this! I've been doing mostly deadlifts and my booty is looking rounder and my thighs are slim. My husband pointed out that my butt looks different, a good different! So two sources on my butt looking different: my husband and I. :)

      Get a body fat rating. The one where they clip you in different places. It might well be your body chooses to store bodyfat in your thigh region (it's the case with girls often). So your focus should rather be on reducing overal bodyfat, or stubborn fat at the thighs than to build more ass muscle.

      It's extremely awkward at first but I guarantee you won't care after some time in the gym. If you don't like crowded gyms, try wearing earbuds - that helps me relax. I normally do hip thrusts on the squat rack and face my torso towards the wall. Most people are curious rather than judgmental. They simply ask what exercise I'm doing, and what muscle groups it works. Hip thrusts definitely make you feel stronger because it's easy to build strength compared to other exercises.

      @@brittany1484 at the end of the day, would you rather have your dream butt or back out because of a stranger you'll never see again? I would try doing some at home before going to a gym. There are even women only gyms you can find, and times of the day when it's not busy. No one is looking, and if they are, it's because your putting in work lol. Plus you can always say something instead of putting up with a look. In the end, it doesn't matter what others think if it will make you happy and when you get that dream butt, you won't care anymore 🤣

    I see a lot of comments of ppl wondering why you wouldn't want your thighs to grow. I don't want them to grow because my body type is pretty slim and slender almost and I want to keep it that way tbh. Not every girl likes curvy and thick thighs which is amazing cause everybody is different right? Lol

      No that depends on your morphology and muscle memory. I've played soccer for years when i was younger and trust me, now, 10 years later, i need to take these mesures because as soon as i run a few times, my legs explode.... i've had friends train with me get jealous about it, but i personally hate it.

      Actually that depends on a persons body and metabolism. Im really lucky. My metabolism runs really fast so i dont pick up fat well and my body takes to muscle build/bulk really easily. I have to be careful as i dont want to bulk up as its not the look im going for. Some people just bulk up really easily.

      Carbs are you main source of energy so make sure you eat plenty of healthy carbs from fruit and veg. Protein is just a myth. You literally only need 1gram of protein per 1pound, Which is very easy when you eat plenty of HEALTHY high carb foods. I also fast alot to give my organs rest and allow them to regenerate. Eat to live not live to eat.

      J Bitch ....you can't get the same results by not going to the gym. It's like saying, "Hey, I wanna have a nice butt, I just don't want to put in the work"....well, it doesn't work that way. Either, create your own home gym (which doesn't cost THAT much), or join a good gym. If you're not willing to do either of those, then you're not willing to look better either apparently.

      Um, you can get the same results from home as long as you're willing to invest plenty of time and effort into it. I'm a boxer, I started of doing workouts at home before I even considered a gym and I found that most of the good changes made to my body, my butt, waist, arms, legs etc where from the workouts I done at home.
      Also, that whole "that's like saying you want something but aren't willing to put in the work" is a load of shit. There are many reasons as to why some people don't want to go to a gym, anxiety, insecurities etc. You can't just say they don't want to put in the work.

      There are exercises that can tone your butt at home and I have personally done these, however, they take a long time to show results especially if you're only doing body weight workouts. I had ankle weights and resistance bands which were helpful as they make me tone up a lot faster than just body weight, but a gym will definitely produce faster and bigger results unless you have a lot of equipment to work with at home. To be able to build muscle you need heavy weights and put your muscle under stress and tension to create little muscle fibre tears in order for it to recover and grow bigger. That's why a gym will always be more effective. It's not impossible to do at home as I've done it for 2 years at home but I've been to the gym for only 3-4 months and my butt has grown twice as big as before. Real life experience and sport science student here ✌🏼️

      Yeah it is possible! But in this video I have no idea why she was showing the first excercices. Except the last 2 all of the others will work out your legs more than your butt so I would not recommend them at all if the goal is to get the "bubble butt" look without the big legs!

      I'm over here with the opposite problem. My natural preference for the squat is very posterior-focused. I use my glutes and hamstrings way more than my quads. So my quads are neglected -- I've been trying to correct this by balancing my squat by extending my knees forward more and getting more quad engagement. I've also been putting myself through a torture chamber of leg extension exercises to develop my quads. But in the meantime, my butt has been blowing up. I think my butt is just fine as it is... I mainly want quad and hamstring volume at this point. #bigbuttproblems

    She’s absolutely right. I’ve been doing hip thrusts in different exercises like she is and I only use a 15 pound kettlebell at home and have gotten EXCELLENT results. I’m 40 and my a$$ is sitting higher and tighter than when I was in my 20 & 30’s. I also have very little cellulite after doing her tips for the last year and I had started to get some once I hit 35.
    Just letting y’all know, hip thrusting works. Tx Abby! Great post!💜💙👍🏾

      Just get those thrusts in and eat a good diet and you know all the rest from the workout folks that post.
      The stuff really does work...intermittent fasting, eating mostly veggies, yoga and weights. I don’t go overboard with anything, I eat until I’m full, then I stop and I refuse to workout for hours. I’m a size 2...I was a 4-5 in my 30’s.
      Check out Dr. Berg as well, he greatly helped me when I couldn’t figure out how to get rid of the last 10pounds. Now, I know what to do if I ever get it back. I’ve got my mom watching his stuff as well and she’s dropped 15pounds in about 5 months. She was very heavy for her height and she was unhappy, so that was my way of helping her.

    Most of the girls that watch this video aren't looking to get a Kim K body (to be honest I don't know anyone that really wants a butt-to-legs ratio as messed up as her's) but just don't want very developed thighs. I want thick thighs, a toned/slightly bigger butt, and an overall nicely proportioned body, but I don't want thighs of steel. So before you guys go off and complain about women wanting an ill proportioned body, just know that's not what we want lmao

      makeup and things if you want nicely proportioned whatever that is just do an all over body workout. whatever shape you gain you are supposed to be. there's no such thing as nicely proportioned it all depends on what the fashion is at the time. many years ago it was considered ugly to have a big bum and thick eyelashes for example. now that's all changed. if your body shape is a slave to fashion then god help you.

    That first exercise looks like it would murder my lower back. I've had spinal fusion so doing any type of deadlift will not happen for me. A physical therapist taught me an exercise that makes your entire butt BURN, it's called clam shells. You keep your back flat against the wall, laying on your side, knees bent together. You lift the top leg on each side a minimum of 20 reps per side so that you make a V with your bent legs, it seriously works.

      j vallejo some people are just really quad dominant. My thighs grow a lot easier than my butt. If I want both (which I do) I need to focus so much more on growing my butt.

      Alissa Lilliana you need some kind of equipment (barbell, plates, heavy bands are the basics you need and they can work forever) to have OPTIMAL gains. Sure, you could potentially see a little bit of change/muscular growth doing bodyweight work exclusively, but that will generally be seen in untrained people, and when they do start consistently training, they will soon need more resistance than bodyweight.

      She didn't say there's something wrong with growing thighs, though. Some people want a booty & thighs (me personally) but I don't want more thighs than ass. This video was so girls won't get confused on the idea that squats will give you that certain body look. As well as there's girls already out there who have thighs and no ass wondering why they aren't seeing booty gains. This was made for them.

    I have not watched the video...yet. But, the title was more than enough for me to like this video. I train and I have to teach people that squats aren't a glutes workout, they are a quads workout that also expands the glutes.

    Made the horrible mistake of following other women who really pushed the squats. I have quad dominant legs, my thighs are VERY muscular, and I am a 5’0 110 lady…. Im all thigh! Hoping to pump some cardio in and lose some thigh and then go back in with some workouts that are more glute focused 🙏🏼 love this video

    Personally, with heavy weighted squats I found my already quad dominant quads looked really bulky whilst my bum looked like it was being swallowed by my hamstrings, my bum looked small and manly. Abby is correct. Now I concerntrate on Glute isolation and just use the leg extension, leg press, cables & some plyometrics to help keep my quads toned whilst retaining muscle so I look in proportion & my glutes still look nice, plump and big. I don’t look like Kim k with drumstick legs, you really think you could end up looking that out of proportion? That’s surgery. More often then not if your doing some sort of resistance work on your legs outside of squats (cardio on a bike, stair master, incline treadmill etc, pin operated resistance training, resistance bands, kettle ball resistance, HIIT) your legs aren’t going to be completely flat and skinny just because you don’t opt to add squats in your workout your legs can still look great! You can do compound excercises yes, but it shouldn’t be your main focus. Glute isolation is key

      Lianne so true! I trained in the gym for years and had nice glutes. I’ve since taken up pole dancing and my legs are lean and bum is as good as when I trained legs in the gym. You’re constantly using your own body weight plus wearing heels at times. Getting a good booty can come from more than just squats.

      My thighs are naturally muscular and defined, and retain muscle mass very well (thanks dad for those genes). But they also bulk easily, it's like I look at a squat machine too intently and they grow lol. I bike, jog and walk/hike a lot so they're always in good shape. Glute isolation is my absolute top priority right now to simply get the proportions right.

      S Ka upper glutes would be your G. medius and G. minimus. Those are abductor muscles, meaning they're responsible for raising your legs to the side (like a one sided jumping jack). So any exercise that targets that movement I'd say. Hope that helps!

    SO GLAD I WATCHED THIS!! i’ve been doing squat variations and smaller things like fire hydrants and donkey kicks but it always feels off when i’m done with my workout, my glutes will feel like they did a very light workout and my thighs will be sore for a couple days! after doing these i actually feel content and like i’m doing something right :))

      For any muscle group between 1-3 times. If after 2x a week for example you won't feel too sore to squeeze in a 3. day you can do 3x. But if you feel any soreness still you should leave it at 1-2 times. The muscle grows only during resting days. So if you start and go intense maybe you have a muscle ache for a week. But 2 times a week should be possible pretty fast.

    I agree about squats. I only squat for warmup now.I decided to try barbell hip thrust and that has been a game changer. Hip thrust, deadlifts and hip abductions/fire hydrants are the best combo.

    Abby, I love your videos! When I was at the gym a couple of days ago, talking to an employee, I grew extremely frustrated with him because he absolutely did not know anything and it was clear he had no idea there's science behind exercises. It's great to find actually accurate information.

      Rachel Harrison of course as I expected definitely a big change! I was doing the same booty program for almost 1 year and I stopped having very significant results, so after changing it , for sure these exercises boosted my performance!

    How often should we do these excercises? Is once or lets say twice a week gonna be enough?

      Renata _Brajkovski yes, you don’t want to do anymore than 1-2 days a week or else there won’t be enough recovery time for your muscles to rebuild.

    Omg! Thank you for making this video! I don't want to grow my thighs AT ALL. I would prefer to slim them. But I want to kinda work up a better booty. I don't have much of one (or at least one I'm not proud of lol) this video REALLY helped me know how to move forward!

    I totally agree! I was doing a bunch of squats and increasing my weight thinking it would help grow my bootie. My thighs ended up getting bigger than I wanted. I have since stopped doing heavy weighted squats and focus more on upping my weights with bootie Isolation exercises.
