I would love to know what you thought of this video and if you plan to start recording tutorial videos.
No one replied to this comment ;-; anyways great vid
awesome content! i have to start making tutorial videos for work and you are a god send. one question I have is about creating cursor effects in davinci. showing users where the clicks are happening with some highlighting, spotlighting or ripple effects is helpful to guide users eyes to where they need to click. any help you can create on creating cursor effects would be greatly appreciated!!
You are using the full license version right? because when doing this with the free version, you only get the sound part of the recording.. unless you do the ffmpeg .mkv to .mov or mp4 reencoding.. not sue what is happening following this video helped to understand if i was doing something wrong. but seems there is an issue with the free vesion..
Thank you sooo much for putting this video up. I've been watching Davinci Resolve tutorials but no one had covered Davinci+OBS and how to make them sync with one another/make OBS videos editable inside Davinci. You're clear, concise, and you give great examples. I plan to watch this video a few more times to see what I didn't catch the first time around. I also plan to make tutorial videos for some of the up and coming MMOs as a content creator. So far have recorded over 120 hours of footage but not edited any of it. That's the project for the next three weeks. Do you have any advice or tips for breaking down editing into manageable chunks?
@@Runosai Here is a video for OBS conversion if you are on linux and using resolve.. there are some codecs missing in 16 adn 17 beta ua-cam.com/video/rwBcbHi6TXM/v-deo.html
One of the best beginners tutorial I have watched both for OBS and Davinci Resolve you make it look easy. Thank you
What
Yes. ✓ He is very good. A natural at teaching. 👍
This was a worthwhile video. I didn’t expect to learn as much as I did, so I must thank you. For me, a lot of consolidation took place but there were some new ideas that were nice to know more clearly. Subscribed.
Thank Sir Simon...
I learned a great deal here from beginning to end of a project...and that's a sign of a good teacher. Integrating OBS is what I was looking for and now it's done! I am an Astronomer and the need to produce tutorial videos is at the apex now for my students.
Thank you again!
When I record something on obs trying to make a YT tutorial, the video pops up in my file but when I open resolve it won’t let me put my video in the media. Why?
Same, this is happening to me too. Not sure why
I'm about to embark on the weird world of youtube, and I didn't know what I should use with davinci resolve. thanks for this. I'm gonna have to watch this a few times to get use to this new software but thanks for the help
damnn ive been searching this kinda video over like week thanks a lot
I was really frustrated with davinci resolve because I found it very complicated. I watched some other videos and I gave up eventually. But after watching your video everything started to come together and keyboard shortcuts were really easy to use. Im streaming on twitch and what Im trying to do is I download my stream and cut the parts where interesting things happen and make a highlight video for UA-cam. Thanks for the video it really helped.
This is a fantastic walkthrough, Simon. Very helpful. Thank you so much. Will continue to come back to your channel to check for help and tips!
Great tutorial showing multiple ways of handling tasks using keyboard or mouse. Well done! I was looking for a tutorial to edit my screencast for my online course and UA-cam videos.
Yikes! this is what I was looking for, a thorough and well detailed explanation on how to edit. After watching this, if I decide to buy the filmora software it's gonna look like a kid's game, lol. This is advanced, but if you practice it you can do it......I wanted to upload my regular video today but I can see it was much more worth my time to learn this first, so I can upload something tomorrow.
why i can't put my media in the bins?? someone help me
I got tired of wasting time cutting with Magix because of out of sync issues and your video inspired me to download DaVinci and while watching it I started to recut the same project I did in Magix before. What a great tool this is!! It’s so much smoother, also the audio functionality is great. Btw: The rendering time for an 2K 1hr video in Magix was around 2,5 hours - now with DaVinci it’s just 15 minutes!!!!!!! Couldn’t be more happy - thank you so much for this very educational Video!!
Excellent tutorial, thanks 👍 One note about files others may want to know: when OBS finishes recording an *.mkv file you need to use the function to convert it to an *.mp4 file for opening in Resolve. DaVinci Resolve does not have support for Matroska file types.
THANK YOU :)
Under Settings you can change the output to .mp4
Don't remember the exact place but it should be easy to find!
This video is brilliant. Thank you for explaining everything so well. It was extremely helpful.
Mate that is brilliant! Thanks so much for sharing!!!!! 👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪
ure the best
im downloading the video to show to my parents so that even they can see what a great explaination this is
Awesome Video man!!!
I really enjoyed your tutorial, pretty much covering everything your need to know when starting creating video tutorials. Will put this knowledge to good use!
Keep up the good work mate! Cheers!
Your video was very useful.
Short and to the point.
Thank you.
this video is great man. thanks for the tutorial as it has greatly helped with my channel
Awesome tutorial , thanks for sharing
Thanks, and you’re welcome.
My OBS video wont go into the Davinci editing, can you help?
Great tutorial, Simon! So thorough and detailed! You've inspired me and have given me many ideas on how I could do my own tutorial. Thank you, and God bless! :)
+Ted Mattos thanks for the great feedback Ted
Thank you. At first I thought the video was too long, but in reality, fast forward and backward controls make the video as long or as short as one needs. Again, thanks.
You've helped me so much, thank you! Very professionally done and straight to the point
I'm reading all these comments and there really good thx for the great tutorial videos
This has been the most helpful video i have seen in a very long time ty
This is easy and good, thank you
You’re welcome.
The hard part is know all this little extra what you can do the small.letters.. also the key bindings. I am not english so to figure all out in different langue is making it harder.. wow respect for editing all youtuve video clips so much work if you have alot of camera.ss
Thank you so much for this! I was trying to get Davinci to let me edit videos I recorded using radeon software and it wasn't working at all. OBS is a much better system. Huge help!
Uploading my first tutorial tomorrow !
Fantastic.
Thanks a ton, I wanna learn to edit while we have nothing to do and you helped a ton 👍
Awesome overview! Thank you! I was using Camtasia for a few years and for whatever reason it started to lag A LOT so I'm happy I found your video, which was to get an overview to use OBS, then you gave me a nice video editor to boot! WEWT! Thank you again. Subscribed :)
Thank you so much for all of this information now I can make my OBS videos
Great to hear

This is a great video.
I'm new to video editing and making videos which I'm trying to learn so I can produce review videos on UA-cam.
Thanks for the info!
do you recommend using the new resolve 17 instead?
nao consigo trazer o video que capturei em um game do OBS para o DAVINCI RESOLVE
Bro thank you so so much i literally was stuck at the Remux part because i didn't know how to do that ,and bacause i saw this video now i can work on stuff, thank you again
thank you so much for making the video Simon. I learned a lot from this.
Thanks a ton for this video. very informative. I've bookmarked it to come back when i inevitably forget something.
Thanks. This tutorial contains just the right amount of information for an absolute beginner seeking to learn how to use OBS & Resolve. The tutorial also gave me the confidence that these two free tools are sufficient for me to achieve my goals of generic screen/webcam capture and video editing to produce a finished product
Man why are you replaying
@@dominiquewilford6810 It is interesting learn that you are able to see when I replay a video... it is rather creepy! :) But to answer your question (if it is a question) then the answer is that I forgot a great deal since I first saw the video 9 months ago. PS: I must have a look as your SaleForce Admin video on your website sometime soon.
very helpful for someone who just started thanks for this
This was truly great! Thank you so much!
Yo thanks man this is gonna help me a lot thanks man 😁
amazing video, Both of them are fantastic and perfectly fine. Thank you so much for this i appreciate you helping others and myself, to becoming successful youtuber’s. Thanks again.
Thanks!
Really great tutorial! Thanks so much.
I know this is an older(ish) video (and with YT being YT, I don't even know if you will see this) but I was wondering, my OBS saved file plays back video and sound but resolve only plays back video, no sound. TIA
Very well done! Awesome tutorial and useful skill!
Thank you Simon
Wow now i know what app to use to edit my vids
This really helped me, thanks
thank you so much this was so helpful
How do you put back together the two clips that are in red for a straight timeline again after you make the cut?
Very helpful
If you are using Linux you should try SimpleScreenRecorder. It consistently produces smaller and clearer videos than OBS. I haven't been able to reproduce it's quality or clarity with OBS. I don't do any downscaling either but the OBS version is slightly off on colour and blurry compared. I even use CF 23 and VER SLOW encoder settings on both and around 10fps. SSR is around 30% smaller and better. I WISH I could get OBS to be the same.
I wish you could record the screen using davinci resolve. Ive used Camtasia for years to do this. I was hoping to replace Camtasia with DaVinci Resolve but it doesn't look like I'll be able to do that I don't want to have to learn how to use two complex applications to do what I can do with one application using Camtasia. I just want to make sure that it's not possible to record a screen using DaVinci Resolve. Thank you.
Hey..I really like how you explained everything in a clear detailed way.. But I have a question tho..a general one.
I'm planing on starting a minecraft channel where I record a gameplay with me voiceovering/commenting over it.I already chose To record using obs,but for editing I'm not sure I want to use Davinci Resolve cause I'm not really familiar with it..i looked up for a good editing software and I found out lumafusion is good one so my question is(consider, for the sake of comparison that both lumafusion and Davinci Resolve are free)which one do you advice me to use?
ps:I'm going to edit my clips in an ipad
I’ve not used Lumafusion and Davinci won’t run on an iPad.
Thank you, Simon!
Question: When recording a tutorial of how to use an app (for example) and accessing to a login page, I want to hide or blur user name and other personal data without blurring all the screen. How can I do that?
Hi Adalberto. Do a google search for gaussian blur in Resolve and that should show you.
What is the advantage of creating the adjustment clip rather than just modifying the actual footage? Is it so that in case you mess up, you can just delete the adj. clip and start over?
If you want to maintain your zoom (or any other adjustment) across multiple clips (which you'll likely have after editing), then you have to apply the adjustments to every clip. With an adjustment clip, it covers all clips below it.
you are the best you help me a lot
Thanks Simon for a great newbies explanation. Is there an easy way to put sub-titles in? Would you use the text and have this running along with the audio? Appreciate any help here.
I can't upload screen recording from ipad Pro. Any idea why
Thanks for the tutorial It wasn’t helpful for my particular situation but well put together nonetheless 👍🏼 nice work
This entire time I've been using a video conversion site to make it mp4 that couldn't even do more than like 15 minutes. I had no idea about the remux feature on OBS
It wouldn't let me put the video in it. Does it have to be an mp4 file?
Hi what do i do if i cant see the file i am gonna edit i tried to edit another but when i open it nothing happens it just says its there but its not
Great tutorial thanks mate
Hi im having a slight problem with the remix option I've when I try to remix the folder to an Mp4 it just stays as mkv even when I try to do it again it wont change to an mp4 do you know why this is happening?
Hey there..I appreciate your help but I have 1 more question.
Okay I have settled on using OBS to record and Davinci resolve to edit but the thing is...I record in a bit of a noisy room.. keyboard taps and PC fan noises.I found out that these will drastically affect he quality of the voiceover .So I went on to google and found out this Software that enhances Audio quality,it's called Audacity.I know you mostly don't know about Audacity because it might not be in your field of work/interest but I just wanted to know after I send in the audio from my obs recording to Audacity to be enhanced(by the way the enhanced audio will be made into a new separate folder,so know we have a folder that has the enhanced audio and a folder that has the complete unedited recording from obs) will there be a way I can blend in the 2 folders together in Davinci Resolve 16 to make it into one edited final cut version?
Appreciate the constant help
actually helpful, thx
I have a question !When i record my screen and move the Mouse curser in video it shows a motion blur on that curser in Sony Vegas you would be able to remove this but i don’t know what to do here
Fantastic video, without missing out on some of the little things others do eg. Autofill. Good stuff. Thanks.
I'm trying to record a presentation and have my webcam output on the bottom right aka 99% of the tutorial videos. But I don't see my webcam while recording Powerpoint on fullscreen. Once I stop the recording and then watch it, I'm there. What am I doing wrong? I want to be able to change scenes from having my face on there while explaining certain things and not at other times; again, can't do it because I can't see myself while recording anyway!
I'd really appreciate your help either with an answer or a good tutorial video like this one to explain how to do that. Thanks and keep it going.
Hello, great video! thank you for all the info! I have a quick question, what software do you use to record this video?, since you're showing the OBS software before any recording has been started. I'm in need to create some tutorials for school teachers in Spanish, so I want to teach them how to use OBS but I don't know which software can I use to record that tutorial.
Thanks!
Hi there. I recorded that using Camtasia which is the other one I use a lot. I much prefer using Resolve to edit than Camtasia so I use OBS as my primary screen recorder.
Wow, great tutorial dude
Tysm now I can make my videos on roblox and more tysm again your the best
Hey so ive recently downlaoded davinci and when i try and place an obs video it dosent show up no warnings so text no nothing its like i never even dragged it there could you please tell me a fix for this thank you!
i really appreciate the video, but for some reason my OBS screen recorded doesn't show up in the folder when im using Davinci. do you know a solution its really fusterating
How do I do the text like what you have in your video, it type out the word by word as you speak. Thanks
How we can set a time (eg. to start screen recording after a few seconds) in OBS?
Help! I cannot drag my OBS videos into Davinci Resolve 16. The OBS files, are with VLC media player. I just cant import them.
Eternxl Darkness make sure you record in mp4
@@prodbyd740 How do i do that?
Sameee
my video is fine, however my audio is very choppy and not very clear. do you know how to fix this?
Hello Simon, nice video! Is it possible to record destop with audio? I mean, I would like to record my game with sounds from the game.
I believe the computer audio is recorded by default. I mute it with the audio control in the middle when I record.
I seem to be having an issue importing mt media. I cannot drag and drop or import media. Any suggestions?
how do you speed up an OBS video after its recorered ?
Thanks dude weird you don't have more sips hope you can grow
I recorded a vid with obs but when I try to important it it doesn't allow
my brain is melting
Same
Super helpful 🙏🏽
Does it matter what file transfer it is (MP4, flv, mov, mkv, ts, m3u8) ?
Yes as Resolve doesn’t support all file formats. Stick with mp4 and you can’t go wrong.
@@SimonHolmanTech ok thanks
followed the instructions here but my screen is still black (blank screen)
this really helped
I have an issue with davinci resolve, it seems like everytime I try to edit an obs video I drop the media and it never appears, only short clips of 30s or so like game captures but never a video
It sounds like you may need to watch my most recent video.
@@SimonHolmanTech ok
very helpfull
How to do trim in obs and cut parts of vid
the link is not in the description
Thanks man!
For the editing app I have to waste 2GB to download the file! Is there any other good app with lower MG/GB?
Im not sure why a one off 2GB download should worry you. Especially for such a powerful application. Try Adobe Pemiere, it’s about 10 times that size. If you choose your apps by download size then good luck to you.
