After doing some research, this scalding bug has been happening since 2021 January on the vanilla client. As far as I'm aware, it's some weird interaction between taking the suit off and recently being in a hot zone. The bug can hurt your dupe for a decent distance from the time they take the suit off. I only found one person who said they managed to fix this bug by having their suits away from the liquid lock/hot zone.
29:45 You can always deconstruct the insulated tiles on the right to create a temporary ladder to pick up any debris (plastic in this case). Don't know how many times I have used this trick! And sorry Echo, we all saw the bridges installed the wrong way well before you noticed it haha.
19:17 "Bridges are backwards...because of course they are" Made me laugh so hard :D I know that feeling when you seal a room and then notice the bridges lol
You can see some sort of gas explosion @3:27. If it had not happened under water that is probably the cause of the scalding. No idea what would cause that though.
So much chaos... so much Echo sass! That's what keeps me coming back. XD This series has been fun, I'm a little sad it's almost over, but it was hilarious while it lasted. Dupe Echo, off to mop up yet another mess. XD 22:35 Fun stuff, tyfs. Hope you and the fam are having a great week!
One of the spots where dupes are getting scalded has the liquid lock, heavy-watt tile, regular tile, then an insulated tile so the heat from that room might be leaking into the room on the other side of the liquid lock, then going through the roof of that room which isn’t insulated tiles, though I’m fairly new to oni so that might not be it
I noticed yesterday that someone got permission to update minibase with your recommended changes (ie: the side ports for rocketry in classic). Granted it won't do you any favors with this playthrough; but still something to check out. Edit: just noticed a scold at 26:14 while a dupe was navigating a liquid lock. So 1 tick calculation error on co2 seems unlikely if that wasn't co2 that time. That particular instance happened immediately when the dupe enters the 2 tile of liquid space in the center of the lock. I do recall you showing the temp overlay at that particular area in a previous vid and the liquid wasn't too hot. My best guess is maybe that particular lock itself is cursed and needs a redo. Thankfully it is the innermost one and not the one exposed to the silo itself.
Good morning Echo! I wish I had a good idea for why you are getting all the scalding messages, but you are doing a great job at keeping the dumpster fires contained. I hope little Echo gets all that mess mopped up. Thanks for another great video!
About the hydrogen. If you power the SPOM with other sources of power than hydrogen, then you make more hydrogen. This can be used to "Turn coal/hamsterwheel/petrolium into hydrogen"
1 aquatuner is enough to liquify all gases. Chill coolant as cold as it gets, you don't even need to control the temperature in the aquatuner. Now make as many tanks as you need, we're controlling each tank temperature with valves and bypasses. If a tank is at the desired temperature, the valve shuts and it goes to the next one. You need a reservoir for buffing the coolant. Simple and cheap.
29:54 you can always get the plastic from the rocket silo. I personally would just leave it there, but for those who are more OCD. I do question those OCD watchers about the salt in the steam room. Heck could do the same for the steam room just need to add a bit more water in there.
So I got to know do you plan on redesigning the whole base? I would love to see that now that you can make better liquid locks. That will save space and on top of that you could remove a lot of the old stuff that is not necessary.
I know it's kinda late to say it, but in your liquid oxygen and hydrogen setup you could have moved "the left" hydro sensor (that's controlling the vent) to the right (right above the liquid pump, so another one hydro sensor didn't feel so lonely any more) and place The all and mighty BUFFER TANK.
You might have a problem with the input gas pipes of liquid hydrogen and oxygen. The moment a side gets full the gas will stand in the pipe. Even with insulated pipes and long time they could freeze. Using a gas shutoff in a room before or passing through the overflow are your options
Not entirely sure if this will be an issue, but may want to put a gas shutoff for the oxygen line in the little service room with the automation to the vent going to that instead of the vent itself. I've had some issues with the O2 sitting behind the closed vent changing state and cracking the gas pipe. I may have let my O2 get a little overfilled though so grain of salt and all that. Liquid hydrogen will pretty much always be needed so not as concerned about that one. As for that automation switch you wanted to add at the end, you could get away with using the hydro sensor to tick it on and off if you don't want to risk losing the liquids by cracking the chambers. Had to open mine before and got solid oxygen in my hydrogen chamber. Drove me nuts.
To get rid pf the plastic you can deconstruct one of the power transformers and the tiles below, place an autosweeper to remove all the mess, rebuild the tiles under it, destroy the sweeper et voila
When your liquid hydrogen fills up, the gas vent is going to close but the pipe connected to the vent is going keep some hydrogen in it and it will eventually liquify and burst, you need to stop the hydrogen gas with a shutout instead of using the vent.
every EP Echo manages to take the dumpster fire of a base and relight it with whatever he seems to be using, this time i think its just straight up napalm but im not sure, smells kinda like gasoline.
Unless they changed it, vanilla asteroids only give trace amounts of fullerene. You are very lucky to have it in the 10,000km range. Use a rocket with 2 cargo containers and fly there a few times. Only 3 cycles per trip. Annoying, but c'est la vie.
On spaced out I had a tile that would drop below -50 and kept freezing the water pipe there. Had to deconstruct everything in that tile and around it. Rebuild it. That Stopped the freezing. Didn’t change anything.
My #1 recommendation to all regarding making Liquid hydrogen: use LOW pressure air vent, not the 20kg one, less flashing and you actually make L-H faster.
I noticed that there is no protection if a meteor goes through the bunker doors, and destroys the insulated tiles. I’d assume that would break the whole system
You may want to use ceramic or insulation for the gas piping in your LO & LH rooms to prevent cold damage. Is it not possible to put your atmosuits outside of your bedrooms to prevent the scaldings?
Mini base makes everything more exciting and fun to watch, specially when you have to make concesion to lack of space and options. Also, bridge daltonic are you? :D
i would have switch the liquid hydro and O2, hydro liquid range is way smaller then the O2, so if there is heat transfer from the rocket O2 would be better.
heyy echo, about the hydrogen oxygen cooling systeem. is it not beter to put some buffer tanks beteen de cooling loops to have a more stable cooling. so the temprature is not swingen to much. there is just a smal gab in the cooling from hydrogen if iam right. and don´t forget to isolate the pipes behind the gas inlets if al not ready done. because is wil freeze the gases in the pipe by a blockage. greatings and good luck.
@@EchoRidgeGaming Yep i saw it a little later in the video i was to quick whit helping you out. whit looking at what your build. but did you insulate the pipes behind and in the chambers from the gas inlets so it doesnt freeze in the pipe when the gas hydrogen and oxygen stops flowing when full. 😁 just asking. before you need to break in the full chambers again 🤪keep up the good work. till the next video.
I wish the powered airlocks in this game were more balanced. They take way too much power and open without power fairly easily as well. I think the power cost ought to be a tenth of what it is, but if a dupe encounters an unpowered airlock they have to go through an 8 second animation of pulling out a crowbar and prying open the airlock slowly.
Hey Echo, go ahead and put a sweep command on that plastic debris in the steam gen room, in fact I dare you... Dupes can pickup debris 3 tiles below where they stand.
6:50 I dont play ONI so I don't know if the oxidizer tank works that way, but could it be that the grabber is filling the tank to counteract the oxilite off-gasing in the tank?

Couple that with petroleum having higher thermal conductivity, heating up dupes faster than gas would!!
Amazing. Thank you much for the info!
I'm so happy you were able to get this posted.
First and didn’t say first. Good job
@@josephdavison4189 thanks. And thanks to Echo for hard work.

Eric is Idle. Monty Python references never get old.

I saw it too
I'm very sad to see this series coming to an end, but I look forward to the next one !
don't be sad the series ends, be happy it happened ;)
i'm glad that you got your episode processed and published despite the technical hang-ups!

I'm betting the ghosts of slicksters past are messing with the quantum entanglement of gas tiles in your base!

Using Napatha drip liquid locks only take up 4 tiles.

I'd love to see Baator!
Some people told me a while back, that didn't think it was a 100% stable yet. Will give it another look.
My #1 recommendation to all regarding making Liquid hydrogen:

I’m sorry I didn’t pick up the plastic debris
hehe,
Suggestion, make a series where everything possible is automated?
I noticed that there is no protection if a meteor goes through the bunker doors, and destroys the insulated tiles. I’d assume that would break the whole system
You assume correctly.
You may want to use ceramic or insulation for the gas piping in your LO & LH rooms to prevent cold damage.
Is it not possible to put your atmosuits outside of your bedrooms to prevent the scaldings?
I like the atmo suit idea!
I think you can use rad bolts to drill through the neutronium. Each tile is 10 tons and needs a plethora of rad bolts
Incorrect.
This series is played in vanilla game. There are no radbolts here.
those dupes... don't they see the two bridges are facing each other with the same color :D
woot woot
👍
Idea for the pump: use the resetable fluid counter thing
Maybe there's hot oxygen in the atmo suits. That would do it I think.
Ahooga! Bridges reversed 19:10

Yes, but it would be surprising for it to lay so many in a row.

6:50 I dont play ONI so I don't know if the oxidizer tank works that way, but could it be that the grabber is filling the tank to counteract the oxilite off-gasing in the tank?
It doesn't work that way. It was (and apparently still is) a bug with solid oxidizer tanks in the base game.
Yeah. Why Eric.
Why.
Haha
