I've been fascinated by tarot for several years and have had readings in the past. I've recently decided to learn about the tarot for myself and bought my first deck. This video is very well timed. I'm watching it straight through and will watch it again more slowly. Thank you so much
Great tape! I can attest that I got a well-crafted and meaningful reading from you. I feel you are a reader's reader. This is an effective approach if you take your time. I find I want to rush through a reading. Thanks for this list of "considerations". I look forward to applying them. Bravo, Tom.
I found this very helpful thank you--I'm a new subscriber to you (and to tarot related UA-cam in general) so I haven't come across the idea of treating all cards as neutral to start with to begin with. I like this: I already think I do that to some extent and it was interesting to hear the attitude verbalized, thank you, I found the whole thing helpful
This resonates with me. I have a Taurus moon and a Capricorn sun. I give less attention to me inner desires, but I attend to them just the same. As a Cappie, I work with the public and have to present an image that is acceptable to all. Interesting..
Tom, as a new reader I found myself also being overwhelmed with the loud symbolism from the RWS. I found myself feeling restrained and “locked in” to thinking that I needed to dive into the symbolism of decks like RWS. Interestingly, though it wasn’t until I found the Marseille deck that I realized that I really wanted to know that deck or decks similar to the Marseille. It was almost like the deck was calling out to me, if that makes sense. Also, amazing video! I’ve ordered your book. I cannot wait to get it.
Your analogy with popcorn was great. Similar to how dreams pop up without any conscious effort. I believe the best card readings take place when the unconscious can manifest freely. Thank you for another excellent video!
Thanks for that! It's funny, I'd completely forgotten that analogy until you mentioned. I love how things like that pop up in the flow of a video or conversation and then someone reminds you of it later and you think, "oh, yeah, that's a pretty good description!"
Lol... The last video I watched you were doing one card reading and taking about how under rated they are. ;) What's funny is that I agree with your points in both videos.
I'm sorry I still haven't got around to sharing the version of Celtic Cross spread that I've been working with, that I said I would on one of your other videos, the trouble is I get side tracked. Your videos are always very refreshing and novel. I always enjoy your neutral approach to the cards, and the importance reading in context to a question. Enjoyable analogy of the devil, thanks for sharing.
Hey Tom! I seem to remember that you created a distilled numerology chart for tdm. Do you have that posted anywhere? I would love to see what you've done with that. Thanks so much!
Reading tarot is like popcorn....I LOVE it! Fucking YAAAAAS! I found this video really interesting and thought provoking for the way I look at the cards....And I will totally be pointing my noobler tarot reading friends in the direction of this video!
Glad you found it valuable!! Depending on the read someone asked for, I usually use two spreads that are more associated with Lenormand. I use a nine-card box or the star spread, also known as the Council of Thirteen. They’re read more like Lenormand spreads in combos than one-at-a-time and I find them SUPER helpful! I’ve got a few videos about the Council.

Right? It took me a couple weeks to make myself do this one!

Thank you. I really find this valuable. What spreads do you usually use when you’re doing readings for others?
