I have enjoyed my 2902A for about 2-1/2 years outside of two developments: 1) at the one-year mark, the rain assembly failed and had to be replaced, and 2) last week, the Temperature - Humidity sensor failed and cannot be replaced, requiring the entire array to be purchased for >$100. Reviewing scores of reviews only, an impressive number of reviews reports their 2902A failed at approximately 2-1/2 years. Like the great majority of these reviewers, I believe this lifespan is unacceptable, especially for a weather station in a temperate mid-Atlantic climate. Not certain if I will be continuing with ambient weather's product line, since spending ~$80 a year for parts and sensory array replacement is surely not a high-value proposition.
Thanks for Watching and those are some good points. Do you have another brand you recommend
Mine wasn't that dirty but cleaned it anyway. My wind speed and direction and temp are working fine. Even after several dumping the cup, still reading back to home unit. What else could it be?
Thanks for the video. I just cleaned my rain gauge out.
we bought a new rain gauge ($30) for the unit. Turns out it was unnecessary - there was a wasp nest (defunct) inside. Going to keep the other gauge just in case - would cost almost as much to send back if they would even take it. Cleaned out the nest and the gauge works good as new.
Try this solution for your rain cup to prevent debris buildup. Use a mesh screen (screen door style) and form it to a concave shape so it filters. take the screen filter out once in a while, shake and dump the crap out of it.
Thats a great idea!! thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you for your video! My husband wanted to buy a new one but you just saved us $200. I was able to vacate the wolf spider and get all of his thick and sticky webs.
You are so welcome!
Thank you for this. Just a few tiny spider webs in my rain gauge prevented it from working. A quick wipe and some water from a spray bottle cleaned it up and got it working again.
Perfect Video. Thanks Mate 👍🏼
Glad it helped
Thanks Dad, this was very helpful..
Your so welcome!
Cleaned everything the rain gauge moves but won't register anything
I would try taking the batteries out of the sending unit at the rain head and also the display unit.
Also make sure when you press the rain button on the display it changes to show you rate and event. I would leave it on event and see it it moves. Let me know how it goes. How long have you had this unit?
@@JustADad the unit is about 4 or 5 years old. I did what you said pulled the batteries out even pulled the unit apart gave it a good clean out put it back together and reset it and now it's working again. Cheers mate
@@vh1ghland3rv28 Awesome!!!! seems like most things are small computers and just need powered down every once in awhile!!!
How to I adjust the daily,Weekly,Monthly and Total rain. I used to know how to do it but I forgot.I cannot find it in the manual.
Section 6.5.2 on Page 17 in the manual
We cleaned our rain gauge (for the second time in two weeks, thank you, little bird!), and this time, it's registering a monsoon--and it's sunny out. We don't know what has happened, but it's "over reporting" rain. Any ideas?
The rain cup must be clean, no dust, mud etc. any little bit weighs something and makes it dump early, hence errors in amt.
Has to be level as well
had mine 3 yrs or so and batteries keep draining guess its array replacement time
Wow, I have had mine 3 years and still same batteries
