CHASE THE DREAM - With Dierks Bentley
After being blown away by watching Dierks live, I just had to sit down with him! In addition to his brilliance as a performer, I really wanted you all to get to know how truly thoughtful and humble this man is.
In this interview, we go deep...Deep into one of the most unlikely and inspiring stories you will ever hear to superstardom. We talk about him moving across the country to boarding school at 14, the risk he took with moving to Nashville to make music and many of the experiences that got him to where he is today.
Dierks eloquently describes how showing up as your authentic self is the road that takes you to your ultimate fulfillment. When you are “Afflicted with the Love for Something “it never feels like work, and it's amazing what you will find yourself accomplishing.
He doesn’t believe that he is gifted, he believes that his love of country music was the catalyst for developing the SKILLS to become one of the greatest country artists of all time.
This interview is raw and honest, Dierks and I come clean about how we don’t always want to go on stage. However, the moment we do, we realize exactly why we love it, and that’s because it feels like HOME.
You’ll know you are living your PURPOSE when you feel it in your bones that you are exactly where you need to be. HOME!
Give yourself permission to let go of the shame you might feel about a particular mess you might have in your life right now.
Your mess will someday be your MESSAGE!
You are a RISER, stay BLISSFULLY dissatisfied while you go after the life you want.
Get ready to hear a whole other side of Dierks you didn’t know!

Sitting in my living room and listening to my wife and kids laugh and joke around. My kids are older and seldom in house together at one time, so to hear this, just makes me feel "grounded" and home. (among other things)

That “get to” vs. “got to” is genius 💡💡 You can use it in any scenario where you are about to complain and instantly put yourself in a place of gratitude. Like, for me, as a wife and mother, I do the grocery shopping for the house. It’s always a pain in the ass lol, but how lucky am I that I #1 have money to buy groceries, #2 have a home to put those groceries in, and #3 have a family to feed. So instead of me complaining that I “have to go grocery shopping”, I can be thankful for all of those things and say, “I get to grocery shopping for my house” 💕

Never would have thought Dierks would show up on your show. Every year I see him in concert it always brings me back to the important things in life and living. I remember Dierks first music video that came out years back "what was I thinking". Dierks amazes me in how long he's been doing it and still continues on with so much heart in his actions. When he spins his old guitar around in concert and you see how beat up it is man it just says it all. Thank you Soo much for having him on and it will be a very sad day if Dierks ever walks away from performing country music. He's the real deal.

Best show I have ever been to: I lived in Phoenix for a little while and went to Toby Keith's and Dierks was doing a show with the AZ radio station. It was acoustic, storyteller style. It was amazing how humble and freaking real Dierks is. I am obsessed with listening to your podcasts because you are so humble and the energy you have with all the people you have on your show is absolutely amazing. You lead with your heart, you share with your heart, it is amazing and inspiring. My son tonight asked me, "You write? Are you going to be famous?" I told him "no sweetie, I don't care to be famous, if any of my words can help someone, that's all that matters to me." I am inspired by the energy you give to others. Thank you for giving that to the world.

I've been to ten to fifteen Dierks Bentley concerts through the years from county fairs to Stadium tours. There was always something about him and his music that spoke to me. So authentic and humble. Couldn't believe when I saw him on the podcast this morning. After 10 years as a CPA, I'm contemplating some major career changes so I can find my "home" and make the impact in the world I know I'm capable of. If only being a Dierks Bentley groupie paid the bills I'd have my life all figured out!

Ed, the fact that you took time to comment despite all the demands on your time means the world to me. I appreciate it. You're making a difference my friend. I would have asked him where does he think his confidence comes from to consistently go against the norm. Whether it be to be not drink alcohol for a year as a country artist where drinking is the norm, to putting out a bluegrass album as an already established country artist, he's not afraid to be different. I'd be curious where that confidence comes from. Was it developed through his upbringing or something that came as he became more successful in his career?

Hi Kelly, I'm still trying to figure that out. I have a strong interest in real estate investing which I think could lead to having resources to help the less fortunate which I'm passionate about. I think I'm stuck in the "trying to have it all figured out" before I even get started rather than just go for it and figure it out as I go. They always say begin with the end in mind, but what is the end isn't do clear? So many things to figure out. Hi... I'll get there. Thanks for the comment.

Getting a better sense of self awareness , for me personally I watch the video something clicks and I bounce the thoughts of in my head in a one on one session. I’m just finishing up the first month and great progress .
I love how there is the unspoken sympathies and relatable empathetic side . Feelings learning to know when to hold um .. know when fold em ... know when to walk away .. to know when to grateful . Thank you again for time and dedication you and your team continually feed the mind of the masses .

Very nice. I loved the genuine conversation and outrageous eye opening reveal of what you go through defines your personal life’s being.
It is the present moment that gives you the most fulfillment but it also is what drives you which makes the past out of sight and out of mind as well as the future not pointing to any relevance for where you end up.
    Determination, perseverance, and drive.
That’s what makes a person genuine and self reliant. The rest just falls in place from that understanding and execution.
Great video. I enjoyed it very much.

Me being from the home state of many of the country artists you all mentioned, I found it interesting when Dierks mentioned that he was a "Country Singer" from Arizona. If nothing "bad" ever happened, we wouldn't even know what "good" is. Ed didnt talk about children much, but as parents it's so important that we are "leading by example". Like seriously, have good morals (integrity, respect, honesty, etc) if you want your kids to have good morals, have good morals!
Kids are the future. Just like "WE" were the future (now the present). They will one day be the present. What do you want the world to look like when your kids have kids?
My teenager asked an adult one day "When you look in the mirror ask yourself 'if my kid turned out like me would i be proud'. and I have a video on "how to rebuild broken relationahips" with her on "Keep up with the Ditzel's.
But point is, I think a lot of people miss the purpose in life pushing so hard for "success" thinking success is the big house, the car, the jet, the island, etc. Material things, people, and places can't and wont make you happy. Happiness is within. Bottom line!
"BE PRESENT" I love this! If you cant "be present in the mess" you wont "be present the blis".
Be thankful and Greatful for what you have now! Even the bullshit, because its teaching you! Its making you stronger! So embrace it!! Maxout!!! You got this! And you DO HAVE A GIFT!!! We all do.
Another great video!!! Much love 💕❤ max out "lets go"! 💪

@@EdMylettShow EdMylett I think my #1 thing is the adjustment in my attitude towards going to do things, which I always try to keep on the positive side, but even just the even the slightest mental change of one word like the "I have to..." And instead saying "I get to...!" Is so powerful! I literally have a list of things of words or phrases to use rather than the negative term trade it for something else. Example: instead struggle I use challenge. Definitely a game changer!
As well as my other favorite was the quote by Calvin Coolidge about persistence. And what Dierks said " it's easy to be persistent when you are afflicted with the love of something!"
Your desire and hunger to grow exceeds talent and expertise. 100% the person with the will to win, WILL WIN, over those who sit on their talent!
      I could go on forever!
But it was an awesome video, I absolutely love Dierks Bentley and my husband and I love going to see him in concert! And I am enjoying your videos as well! Y'all are awesome! 🥰

@@EdMylettShow Absolutely, I have been following you for a while and just in the past few months your videos have transformed my entire life. It all started with the full interview video you had with Dr. Joe Dispenza on being in the present moment. Quoted something to the effect of "Where you place your attention is where you place your energy, and if your attention is in the PRESENT, amazing things are about to happen" I heard your video with Dierks this morning and y'all were talking about the song Riser, after that he spoke of how music is so powerful but on the way to the airport or gym alot of times he doesn't listen to music so he can stay in the present moment. It's obvious how well that concept has done for him and just amazing to hear that coming from such a down hearted guy and one my son's favorite singer, it all just seems so interconnected. My son last week had some issues with bullies and I heard the video on Ego last night, when you started talking about bullying I had to stop it and let him hear your words and why bullies are the way they are, he wanted to keep hearing more. Brother your amazing and you now have 2 big fans down here in Texas!!!!!!

@@EdMylettShow Yes, First, didn't know he's really into reading and learning about our mind, he's really close to your level of understanding certain things and probably why you two connect so well, he's actually a pretty cool dude. I think he actually went through a transformational period right before things really took off for him, not sure if he fully realizes years of bar slinging and just getting by on a few bucks does shape your mindset so that you have gratitude when things do fall into place. I've gone through much of the same things, but now with a wife and two kids I just feel grateful to still be alive, not sure if I really hit it big back in my twenties that I'd still be alive, God has a way of saving you for other plans! I think you are right about his key skill of determination and hard work, many people give up along the way, Oh, how times we drag our equipment all over the place for minimal pay and crickets, but then you hit those gigs were thousands show up and everything is great, its an uphill battle. I sense his love for music, he's got a nice vocal quality that people can relate, he plays guitar, and writes great Country music! Thanks for sharing as I think within the next few years your going to be interviewing many people your content will be part of their story, I think Postive D mentioned that also about Positive E!
