Impact Theory, staff, crew, Tom and Lisa, I have no words for the appreciation I have for what you do, and bring, us fellow learners for life!
I simply love you all! And, though these simple words feel so inadequate for how much I appreciate all you bring us; FROM MY WHOLE HEART THANK YOU!!

I've been suffering with migraines and headaches for as long as I can remember. When I became Vegan in Nov 2017 I noticed the elimination of dairy products heavily reduced my migraines. I also became more mindful and incorporated meditation, yoga and self love which reduced tension headaches. I do still suffer with headaches and migraines from time to time and I've identified this is because I still consume processed foods, from time to time. Also if I'm missing out on Yoga, meditation and/or gone a day drinking less water than I normally would do; I'll get a migraine. I came across this video after recovering from a migraine and it honestly feels like a God send. I have felt my body become more and more intolerant to processed foods and now, I am going to start trying a plant based paleo diet!
Thank you Mary and Lisa for everything you do!

Seriously this show is phenomenal! I'm starting a business with my husband and sometimes we get so discouraged because we believe so strongly in what we're doing that when we go out and market we feel as though our idea is silly and not good enough. But thats not true! No one is doing what we're doing so theres nothing to compare our ideas too! Thank you for your encouragement because we're about to crush this shit!! The Potsitivities! Remeber the name we will be huge one day! 😍😍😍

"any emotion that is extreme I find it to be uncreative, a distraction and a little boring when we could be dealing with strategy, facts and how to get to the solution."- Mary ❤ I really love that. Such a bold statement! I've definitely noticed what a distraction emotions can be at times... but to say uncreative. THAT BLEW MY MIND!

Just watched it twice! Masculine/feminine, its ok to not know what you don't know, t-shirt, tights, sneakers, if I die today and SO much more. Hadn't heard of her before. She was speaking to my soul. Playing with a BIG GIRL for the WIN!! Thank you for this awesome channel:-)

Thank you so much, Lisa and Mary. This was my favorite episode so far. Mary is so relatable as a woman who was in tech and who grew up very sick and bullied. I am so grateful to have seen this and heard this encouragement, thank you both for all you do. And i look forward to trying for phat fudge!

I wanted to share the notes I took:
„There are gonna be days when you‘re the only one that sees the endgame.“
Single for 13 years to know thyself = permission to figure yourself out so you can be your best self when you‘re ready
„In business I remove any emotion. I watch all the emotion bleed out of me.“
„Only say things that‘ll make an impact.“
Extreme emotions are not a source of creation.
You need to be better at getting to the middle of the emotion scale, away from the extremes.
    „Bad day doesn‘t mean it‘s a bad life.“
„In order to be positive about something you need to have experienced negativity, otherwise how would you know it‘s positive?“
Consulting with someone else to see if you have a blind spot = great strategy
    „I love being wrong.“
„If I died today, did I become the woman I wanted to be?“
„Are you okay with dying today?“

  • @TheZGALa
    @TheZGALa 5 років тому +1

Wow! I wish I knew how to cultivate more of that, letting go of emotion to handle situations. I find my emotions get the best of me in many situations, and end up costing me credibility as a leader/business woman.

Totally agree on people using emotion as social currency. The manipulations I saw in college dorms were a huge shock! But those girls got attention every time they "overreacted" and learned different lessons than I did, having two older brothers. Personally, I prefer the logical approach because 1) men understand it better, 2) no one is unnecessarily uncomfortable, 3) issues get taken care of faster, and 4) it keeps things in perspective for those times when something REALLY bad just happened. I'm in no way saying emotion can't ever be shown in business or personal life. I just can't stand those people for whom every little thing turns into an end-of-the-world-crying-jag or I'm-going to murder-someone-screaming-fit.
This was an unusually long comment. Sorry, Lisa! I really did get value from this interview. I was just pleased to see a woman like myself who doesn't let herself get too worked up in the moment. Side question to any woman who's read this far: how often do you cry? I cry maybe once every six to eight months. I've been told that's weird.

I love this, yet there’s a bit of backwards thinking in terms of “sidelining emotion”. In 2019, we are challenging those kinds of mindsets. Emotion can be an advantage. This is a bit sexist at times...

When you talked about emotions you messed it up; because, human beings have emotions and based on the thinking they show their emotions. Had you said know how to control them it would have been differently than saying not to have or show emotions whatsoever. Even in business you show emotion.... I'll give you an example; if I'm the owner of a business and my employees come to me with an idea to improve my sales, based on what they say and how say it and how it makes me feel, I will proceed to listen or not their ideas so saying to take emotions out when it comes to business, it's stupid cuz you are built with them and showing no emotions means not being yourself whether in business or life in general.
