Thanks Norm
Thank You Richard.
Good stuff Norm, I'm a Rathmines local. Plenty of good spots in the lake. Hoping to get into a liveaboard soon
Love it there Dude.
glad to hear about the health progress for Wendy, Norm
Thanks Fabio.. The Wombi has been a lot better for the last few weeks and is looking forward to heading north soon.
An espresso maker on board seems an essential
Nuh. No room. A special treat when ashore. Have some good powder frothy coffees on board though Dude.
Dear Norm. Broughton Island ? I am a pilot we were in a Skywriting Cessna185 aircraft, we were at a
meet up at OLD BAR airport, as we departed and checked in with ATC we were advised to tack the costal
route as WILLY is active, F18's can appear out of nowhere, off the two aircraft we set a course for Broughton
the other aircraft chose to fly along the beach.
as we approached the island a 50/60 ft cruiser was moored off the northern beach. we were at about 2000ft
the people on the beach, had written HELP with a large circle around it.
real or not we went to emergency mode, we went into a dive to about 300ft. switching the skywriting smoke on
passing over the HELP in the sand we climbed vertical leaving a huge plume of smoke to mark the spot.
we had called in the other aircraft to fly under the smoke, to check on the people on the beach and report to us.
Broughton island has Fisherman's huts, that national parks rent to fishermen.
as we kept in contact with each other, the fishermen in the huts all raced out to know why two aircraft, were circling
the island, and the huge plume of smoke, they ran down to the beach and gathered all the people together.
cost guard called WILLY and they heard our report, the fishermen all gave us boughs & thumbs up in happiness.
The boat and all persons on board were to report coast guard.
we flew over coast guard station and smoked them, WILLY opened their airspace that gave a direct course to our landing airport.
I am now 82 with no right shoulder blade [ Cancer ] , I fly my computer, & watch you do things that i cannot do
I enjoy your video's. Regards Warren.
Great story Warren. Glad you enjoy the vids. Always loved flying but could never afford it as a younger Dude. The ocean is my thing though.
I'm glad you showed going through the new channel, I haven't been through there yet. I don't know how that bloke heading out could not see the channel, it is clearly marked.
Yep Trevor. They only need to dredge each end and it would be pretty deep right through.
Cheers Dude.
Glad to see new channel is ok. I draw 1.2m on Grand Banks❤
Yeah. You should be good Dude.
Hi Norm
Thought I heard you say follow the cardinal on the starboard side but you put them on your port side going in,
was that a mistake ?
No Dude, I kept the EAST CARDINAL (Black Yellow Black) on my starboard side. I think the buoy you'r referring to was a port LATERAL(red) Might do a video on buoyage in the future.. I have been taking some shots.
Which jetty are you on?
Sorry Dude. I was on F jetty but that was a while ago. Good news though. I have AIS and now you can see where I'm at real time.
Cheers dude.
I draw 1.8 and run aground just after the first port marker on the runway turn. You really do need to kiss that marker to get through.
Thanks for the info Dude. Maybe it might be dredged soon.
