- This has been a long time coming, but this is the last video of the famous courthouse we've hunted over the past few years while I was in college. I'm sure I will come back to this spot from time to time when I can, but this may be the last footage you see of it for a while. I have had so many good times here with so many people over the years and I will always remember this spot. Special thanks to Jim for all of our fun night hunts together there. I'll never forget them man.
Gear Used:
Metal Detector: Minelab Equinox 600
Pinpointer: Garrett Pro-Pointer
Top 3 favorite Detector channels! From the trains, to the bells, much less all the great finds! You guys always put the time in! Great work man!
Zach I have had so much fun over the past couple years hunting with you especially at the courthouse. Watching the video makes me wish we were there now!
Me too man! Those were some great years I’ll never forget!
Very cool thanks for sharing with us!!! Keep Swinging ✌
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!
So many great finds there. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Thanks man always appreciate you stopping by!
Lovely old town! Great finds.
Thanks Karyn!
Man!! Jim was killing the V's!! Nice video guys!!
Thanks so much man!!!
I was like a magnet with those nickels
Great video Zach!!! You all did well!!!
Thanks Eddy!!
Yayyy!! A courthouse episode again!
Yup! I'm done with the Oregon Trail for a while now so back to houses and courthouses and other stuff!
I love that spot so much. So glad I was there for the inaugural hunt!
Great compilation video!
Thanks Bob! Yeah you got to see this spot before anyone else did!
Nice video, Zach. The Nox is definitely a nickel magnet. Nickels tend to get overlooked. I'm a bit of a sucker for a good nickel signal. Now that you have relocated, you'll have to find some new "go to" spots!
Thanks Dan! Yeah I’ve been working on finding new go to spots lately. No more Oregon trail, at least not often anymore
Just stumbled upon this video-I’m from fairbury! I didn’t know the courthouse was a great place for metal detecting..great video!
Lol glad you found the video! Fairbury has been a great town to us for metal detecting. We’ve found a lot of stuff not only at the courthouse but also at the city park and houses in town over the last few years.
Congratulations on graduation man!!! Awesome hunts!!
Thanks Will! Glad you enjoyed man!
Just leaving to go detect some Southern California beaches and this drops. Great finds, Great video Zack. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for stopping by! Good luck detecting today!!
Aww man I missed these!
Glad you enjoy them!
i love watching his videos
Glad you enjoyed!
Gotta say I love the intro music!
Thanks! If you’re curious what the song is I can tell you
That 1894 V nickel is a key date. In even VF-20 it's a $100+ coin. I have one. I found it in the coin return of a newspaper machine in Trenton NJ.
I love finding old nick’s...especially key dates! Awesome find on yours in a newspaper machine?
@@jimwachter608 - I took a better look at that nickel. It's perhaps a VF-12 or so on the obverse. The "LIBERTY" on the headband isn't fully visible. Other than that, it's a 20 all day!
First and I can't believe it back with the courthouse videos
Yessir! Done with the Oregon Trail for a while so back to these types of videos
I love the quality of the video. So clear!!!
Thanks Brian! It means a lot to hear that type of feedback
That courthouse was typical of one that had been hunted hard by White's 6000-D machines. If you didn't want to dig pull tabs, you sacrificed nickels. I did that at an old high school once. I got a couple Barber dimes and loads of mercs, but I left all the nickels behind. I know because someone else went in there behind me with a different machine and told me about all the nickels they pulled out.
I really enjoy these videos! I keep thinking imagine what is under all that asphalt and sidewalks etc...
Thanks!! I have wondered the same thing too lol. I can almost guarantee there are some coins and tokens under some of those sidewalks.
I've been trying to get permissions for courthouses for years. How do you guys get them?
Sometimes it’s tricky! You can either as the sheriffs department or the grounds keeper! Even when you get permission for one....someone will always call the cops on you!!!
Time for a drive by BBs distribution at the courthouse.
I'd say 10,000 BBs with a fertilizer spreader.
Complete lock down on anything remaining !
Show 'em da BOSS !
LOL that really would ruin this spot for good
Congrats on graduating!
Thanks!!
You guys will have to continue hunting somewhere together in the future.Look like back in the day everybody once had a nickel, and every other person once had a Indian.:>) Dang, 5 cent loaf of bread?, To get Keto bread @walmart I pay near $5.00 and its only about half a loaf.I wanna return to pre 1900.
Lol! Yeah it can seem like all we find there is nickels and pennies now but that's because we already found most of the silver coins out of there, since they give a higher signal on our detectors.
Zach and I will find a way to continue to hunt together as much as we can! Your right though! Nickels and pennies where the coin of choice!
Great spot over the years! The Nox is definitely a nickel magnet, too!
Question: Are you a natural lefty? And congrats on graduating :) We need more good God fearing men in the workforce. Good luck on the your career aspirations!
Thanks so much sir! I am a natural lefty. I hate it most when I’m trying to write something and the ink or lead smears on the paper. Something that righties don’t have to deal with lol.
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting Thanks for the response! I notice lefties because I am one myself but I got the writing style beaten out of me by nuns in Catholic school in the early 70's before they stopped the practice of making the left hand sinister - I am 57 now. I made lemonade out of lemons though by being ambidextrous in many activities including swinging the coil :)
@@sandman4224 my father did that to me, to make me right handed, I am 54, old ways
Wow, thats a lot of V nickels!
What I'd like to know is who you asked for permission? I've asked the mayor for permission at my court house and he told me to ask the commissioners and the commissioners told me to ask the mayor. Very frustrating! Any tips on how to get permission?
I just talked to the groundskeeper for this one, they are usually a good person to go to
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting hmmm ok. I went to school with this grounds keeper and he is kinda weird lol. So wish me luck.
I’ve got one dated 1912
1912 V-Nickel...?! Did it have an "S" mint mark...??!!
If so, it is a Key Date..., with aprox 800,000 minted...!
No it was a plain unfortunately
Zach - so this is just a "best of" video and not entirely new content?
No, this is footage that I have never posted before from the past several months. Trust me if I had a “best of” video of this spot it would be very very long 😂
Rubbing those coins ain't too kind to them. I think the soil treated them better.
What did the cop say?
He just wanted to make sure we had permission, which we did.
Less music and more treasure hunting would work better
