- Hey guys, glad to be back with another video. On this hunt Garrett and I metal detect an 1860s Cavalry camp along the Smoky Hill Trail. This was a similar trail to the famous Oregon Trail, but this one led to the gold fields of Colorado. Lots of military artifacts were uncovered and I find a first for me!

Great to see you back!!
I could dig Starr’s and general service buttons all day long! Love it
This is a wonderful hobby, I've personally been detecting for 4 years all thanks to this guy. I really enjoy your content and keep up the good work!
Cool finds and nice music guys
Great finds!! Bullets and Buttons is what it is all about!!! And Starr Carbine bullets are the best!! Well done!!
Thanks so much!! And answering your other question yes Garrett GPS marks the finds.
Nice to see you all again. Been a while. Great finds today. See you on the next! 😊
Thanks Martin!
you and Garrett are always on the goods ! great site and great finds guys ! 🤠🔥👍🏴☠️- Matt
Thanks Matt!!
Nice to see a new video! Once again, you and Garrett killed it. Congratulations!
Thanks Dan! How have you been? You still dig much?
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting I am well, thanks. Still getting out when I can. Work/life/weather has limited it a little this winter but, retirement is on the near horizon and I'll be getting out much more.
Great video Zach! You and Garrett had a wonderful hunt. Finding those locations that have all that history to bring to light is special for sure. By the way enjoyed meeting you the other day. Thanks for your efforts in doing these . It’s appreciated.
Thanks! This is Todd right? Yeah it was great meeting you!
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting yeah it’s me. Love these old sites. Had a little luck very near where we met shortly after. Keep the videos coming please!
I’ve hiked out that way, when I lived in Colorado - would love to go back and metal detect there someday!
Just found your channel after 4 years of watching md’ing vids on UA-cam. Goes to show there’s always more out there. Great hunt and looking forward to exploring the channel
Welcome to the channel! I’ve got years of content to explore for sure. I used to coin hunt predominately but the last couple of years I have focused on relic hunting westward trails
Great hunt!! Thanks for sharing! You saved some awesome history!
Thanks!! Hoping to save some more out of this site in the coming weeks!
Some awesome finds. Thanks for sharing the hunt. Good luck, happy hunting and take care. ✌️
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Nothing better than to be swinging in, what seems to be the middle of nowhere, and bam, sweet relics. Awesome work fellas, subbed.
Thanks man! Welcome to the channel!
Great spot guys!! I wish I was digging it with ya!
Thanks man! I’m still always down for a more local dig with you if we can find the time!
I love the bullets and buttons! What a great hunt. And Garrett found that amazing shield nickel! Awesome. 💖💯
Thanks Julie!
Glad you guys did well. Nice video!
Thanks Bob! Glad to finally post another video haha.
Nice to see y’all back at it! Sweet finds
Thanks Will! Yeah we’ve still been getting out but with relic hunting it takes longer to find enough for a video
Excellent video! Looks like a very promising site for sure. A plate is in your future very soon I think.
Thanks Bob, I sure hope so!!
Congratulations on the keeper I've been carrying my sword plate while I hunt for three years hoping to match one up. I'm in Kansas down on the Santa Fe Trail. The plate has brought me good luck hope the keeper will bring you good luck and maybe you'll match one up to. Congratulations again nice fines.
Thanks Jimmy. I’ve been hunting the Oregon Trail mostly for over 2 years now, we’ve hit some pretty good sites but this is still the first keeper I have ever seen come out of the ground. Keepers and plates are rare indeed but we will see what happens at future hunts here.
Excellent Hunt there. Love the General Service Buttons Belt Piece and Bullets. Congrats on the 1867 Shield Nickle. Take Care
Thanks so much! This was a fun one for sure. Definitely excited to go back there and see what else there is.
Great spot. Congrats guys.
Thanks so much!
Been a long time, glad to see a new video! Look like yall hit a honey hole, some great finds!
Thanks Scorpio! Hopefully I’ll have more videos out of this site. We were still finding stuff as it got dark out that day so we will be back
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting Sweet hope you find a couple of gold dollars or big silver! Happy Hunting!
Those Starr bullets seem to be dropped everywhere in our cavalry camp in Colorado. Love this adventure. Great to see the duo out together digging again. I will be over there to dig with you guys soon too. Awesome video!
Thanks Tony see you soon!!
Awesome hunt man. Next time it will be a belt plate. Keep up the beep, good luck and happy hunting
Thanks Jason! I'm excited to get back out there again and look for the belt plate for sure
Nice job on the video, thanks for posting .......
I was just thinking about you last week Zach! (Wondering when a new video was coming out). What a blessed hunt you two had! Those buttons are beautiful! Love Garret's shield nickel! God bless!
Thanks so much!! I still have been getting out over the past couple months but it just takes more time to put a video together when you relic hunt, because the good finds are farther and fewer between. Excited to see what else this site will produce.
New subscriber. Excellent videos. You found some amazing items. That 1867 shield nickel is awesome.
Good hunt guy's 👍👍
Thanks Marc!
Awesome finds!
Very nice Gentlemen !
Thanks Ray!
Fantastic!
Thanks!
The music man, I just don't know. LOL great finds though!
I found a whole field of military buttons? I'm guessing troops were stationed there during the war. Great vids 👍
AWESOME HUNT
Very interesting!
Those plants are called yucca
Good stuff
Thanks!
Great finds you should get together with aqua chigger 🤔
Thanks Linda! That would be cool to do sometime
Nice to see you back recording again, Zach, but TBH not a fan of the new background music. I get wanting to try something different, but it doesn't seem to work with your channel.
Take care.
Very cool intro
Miss this guys posts hope all is well!?
Question. Did you GPS the finds locations? If it is a spot where there was no plowing then you have a great opportunity to build a map of the campsite.
I always make sure to GPS every find, it adds to the archaeological preservation of every site
Did you guys change the name of your channel?
How come you post a video today and not in the last months.
How do they lose so many buttons?
I ask the same question, it seems to me that whatever thread they used to hold the buttons on their uniforms was not very strong
How could they drop so many bullets and have any left to fight with lol
Dropped due to being killed in action.
Please, if you are going to put up text, make sure it is up long enough to be read. It drives me crazy. It is a common problem with other UA-camrs .
My apologies. It’s hard to find the right time limit because I know everyone reads at different paces
Looks like just off the east range. Great finds!
Can you please explain the useless thumbnail arrows?
