UNFORGETTABLE Discovery Made Metal Detecting a Gold Rush Trail! Lost Military Artifacts Found
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- This was definitely one of my favorite hunts in a while! Garrett and I go exploring on the old military road that gold seekers took to Colorado and was later used by the Butterfield Overland Despatch, and we found a lot of time period artifacts including one set of finds that was unforgettable.
Gear Used:
Metal Detector: Minelab Equinox 600
Pinpointer: Garrett Pro-Pointer
Love this channel I miss the weekly videos here thanks for posting!
Thanks so much! Yeah I wish I could get out enough to post weekly still. Once fall hits I will be getting out more for sure though
That would be so neat to find the button's from a complete coat! Very nice!
Thanks Scott! My guess is this coat was falling apart or damaged so what was left of it was discarded
Great hunting guys! Thanks for sending and email to our treasure finds show, best of luck for your next hunt.
Wow, what a bunch of amazing finds. The "button spill" with the pin fire cartridge was such an incredible find in itself. Congratulations.
Thanks so much!! This is definitely one of the most memorable finds I’ve made over the years

That was amazing find, 6 buttons in the same area! That's definitely a treasure! 💖
I love finding old military buttons. Congrats on all the cool finds and thanks for the video.
Thanks man! I bet Montana has some good military sites from the Indian wars era
in my area of northern michigan there are no such relics to hunt for, plenty of old lumber camps and one room school houses etc.. but no real military grounds to hunt.
some day, i hope to travel to some of these places in other states that offer up the kinds of finds you guys get.. WOW! awesome stuff.. i'm jealous.
Thanks Matthew! Yeah the area I live in was a huge crossroads for the military and westward travelers. It’s definitely thrilling searching these sites
Most enjoyable video. Always like your finds. Well done research.

Awesome finds Zack ! the button spill was crazy. I try to place myself back into the time period and what it was like. Thanks for sharing. Always enjoy your vids.
Thanks man! I always do the same. I wish I could know how that button spill / coat was lost back in the trail days. Maybe a skirmish or they just discarded it for whatever reason.
Great video, love the finds and the history of the trail👋👍
Thanks my friend! Glad you enjoyed and hopefully learned a thing or two
Congratulations on all the buttons that's awesome!
Old rim-fire shells are one thing common, but pin-fire...?! WoW!

Awesome hunt! Great video 👍

Nice finds in Kansas. I live near the old Santa Fe Trail. About 2 blocks from my residence is a small sign that says "Part of the original Santa Fe Trail". I've been detecting since 1973 but age/health has slowed me down. Stay safe. Grandma Smith from SW Kansas
Thanks Ina! Have you ever done any detecting on the Santa Fe trail?
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting No. I grew up on a farm 14 mi SW of Ingalls KS & our mother took us children across the road every time the neighbor plowed. Oh... the arrowheads we found were many. Had to have been in the late 50's. The trail ran in a SW pattern ¾ mile N of our farm & that neighbor would find relics back then. There is a Historical Marker West of Dodge City, near Howell, KS that promotes the wagon tracks of the Santa Fe Trail. Those are the tracks that eventually lead to those near my duplex in Cimarron. (Cimarron Crossing at the Arkansas River where the Trail turned SW) I wish I had the health to go more often, so I watch my UA-cam favorites. I do small yards, parks, etc but I need help. Grandchildren are great but lead busy lives. Thanks for asking about the Santa Fe Trail. It's been a part of my life since birth. I'll be 74 in October 😊
@@inasmith3538 Wow thanks for sharing that story! I'm honored to have you as a viewer of the channel
@@GreatOutdoorsDetecting YW. A lot of history is lost as we lose our elders. Sad but glad relics are being found today to preserve it. Stay safe.
Good video nice finds I enjoyed it, see you on the next one. 🇺🇸
Thanks Fred!
Great stuff man! That spill won’t be topped for a while at least!
Thanks man! Maybe not but hopefully this fall we can top it somehow!
Awesome hunt
Thanks!!
That’s awesome ty ty !! All the best
Thanks Vern!
That was way cool!
Thanks!
Amazing finds! I'm going to hit part of the Oxbow (California Trail) Trail in Saunders County, Nebraska next week. If I find a single button or bullet, I'll be stoked!
Right on! I lived in Seward, NE for a few years so I am quite familiar with that area. I've never hunted along that trail though as I focused mostly on the Oregon Trail when I was out there.
Very Cool.
Thanks man I appreciate it!
Awesome!!!
Thanks Will!!
Nice
Thanks Kim!
Nice 👍👍
Thanks Lisa!
That's was a pretty sweet hole buddy
Thanks brother! Hope all has been well with you!
I find this iron pieces all the time and never knew till now what they are... I've thrown so many away.... Ouch
Cool finds. Are those snake boots?
Thanks! They are.
I don't want to be creepy or macabre, but is it possible that when you find so many buttons off of a coat that you have stumbled upon where someone perished and was buried along the trail? Survivors may have been in a hurry and unable to bury the fallen soldier any deeper. Forgive the question if it has been addressed previously - I've recently discovered detecting videos and have lots of curiosity!
A little spill of buttons? A grave?
I suspect you guys are probably digging up graves or at least spots where soldiers may have been killed, left and animals scattered their remains and clothing.
Man if you find that many buttons in one spot I would say something big happened there! That or mans coat fell off wagon or something! But a button spill! Whats the odds mens buttons all just fall off at once in one spot? And spent shells!
Are those snake boots?
Yes
Hi Zach - I know you probably wanted to freshen up the intro/outro music, but the selection for this one kind of makes you want to go 😴. Way too low-key, IMO.
Like others commenting here, I miss the regular videos as well, especially the ones focusing on coin finds. Not really into old buttons and such.
Take care and God bless.
Thanks Rob. I try to always find music fitting for the video, in this intro more upbeat music that I usually use didn’t seem to make sense. It’s interesting that some people enjoy the coin videos more. I personally enjoy detecting the trails a lot more, it feels a lot more historic, plus we do still find coins occasionally on the trail. Thanks for stopping by!
Come on guys, a pin pointer is not a digging instrument. Annoying to listen to. BUT STILL bunch of great finds.
Thanks Tim, haha yeah I was trying to see if I could push it out of the harder packed soil with the pinpointer but it wasn’t working
Nice 👍👍
Thanks Lisa!
Nice
