Great review and a very fair perspective on this motorcycle. I went from a 2018 Goldwing to the Indian Challenger and have practically turned it into a Pursuit minus the rear shock and a few other details. So far...no regrets. I loved both bikes, my Goldwing and my Challenger but sometimes it is nice to change things up.
    A few notes:
    - The clear coat is not "kind of soft" it is a real problem. Mine got scratches in no time. I have never seen paint this soft. I buffed it out and just ordered a tank protector. This should not be necessary.
    - I have the same rear trunk as on the Pursuit. It is hard to close and takes significant pressure to close it. I removed the latching arms and put two small washers under mine. It moves the pin down just enough to make latching easy and still watertight.
    - Love the engine of this bike. I have always liked the look of v-twins but never the ride. This bike has changed that for me, smoother than a Harley with more power and a better-looking engine than the Goldwing, with an American v-twin attitude. In my opinion.
    - No infotainment system is perfect but this is the best I have owned.
    Thanks for the thorough review!
    Kevin

Indian Pursuit Owner - I hate to admit it but I agree with every thing you said. The liner in trunk is loose on mine. It wasn't on my Roadmaster. So I can't figure that one out. On the trunk removal. After you remove them the first time. You can replace the screws with a tie rap that will be hidden from view. To remove it you would have to open the bags. The bags are locked so that solves that problem. It would be nice if the bags and the top of the trunk were lined also but I guess we can't have it all. Good review.

I have recently purchased the Indian pursuit (alumina Jade), I loved your review and honesty and agree with your assessment.
I traded in a Harley street glide special 2019 and after riding the challenger it was a no brainer.
I ordered a challenger but when it arrived it was damaged so i didn't accept it. Then shortly after the pursuit was announced. So even better I
    thought and ordered it.
I am extremely happy with the bike.
    Thanks

Nicely done review, probably your best... information was well organized and appropriatley brief but thorough. If the Pursuit wasn't so heavy, I'd consider it my next motorcycle. For now my 2020 BMW RT 1250 fits my touring needs, light weight + 130hp so goes when you want it too. Eager for the Wing vs. Pursuit show!

Excellent review video. A Honda Goldwing guy produces one of the only and the best Indian Pursuit review on UA-cam thus far. Had your video been out about a month ago I probably wouldn’t be riding my current CVO Roadglide Ultra. Not that I hate Harley, I’ve had 8 of them. To the contrary I love them. I just think that it’s time to move the technology forward a bit. It’s time to move past the air cooled VTWIN idea to an era of water cooling so that we can get some more reliable and better performing bikes.

@@heybruh3274 it has water cooled heads and exhaust ports. That is different from the way that it’s done in a truly water cooled engine. Harley’s “twin cooling” is meant for rider comfort not engine temperature management.

Your review is right on the money. I have 5000 miles now on my 2022 Indian Pursuit LTD w/premium pkg. It is a phenomenal machine. Better wind protection than my 2021 GW Tour DCT I had previously and at highway speeds, the Pursuit is rock solid. My GW would catch heavy side winds and move the bike quite easily. I would say the ride quality is equal on the 2 bikes. /At low speed turns, the GW seemed more forgiving while the Pursuit tends to have more oversteer. Engine heat was non-existent on the wing but can get pretty bad on the Pursuit at stop lights in 90 degree + weather. The tech on the Indian is the best out there right now. All the info you could possibly need and then some. At times, I miss the silky smooth flat 6 of the Goldwing but I just purchased a mint 2000 Honda Valkyrie CT with 10,000 miles on the clock. That should satisfy that "itch" for a while.

Excellent review with thorough commentary. I own a 21 Indian Challenger, a 2017 Indian Roadmaster and a 2018 Goldwing BD. I appreciate the three different personalities of these bikes and they all are new to me every time I ride them. I will say that what sets Indian experience apart for me is the support and genuine care I feel at my Indian Dealership, Bell County Motorworks, Temple TX. Their staff and service department are the best I've ever experienced .

Wow, this is a good review, I spent a half hour taking it all in, good job sir. Where the Indian Pursuit fails for me is no centre stand. I have a 2 car garage and my Goldwing is parked on a dolly that lets me move it around easily. Plus at over $40K in Canada, for a bike I can ride only 4 months of the year it is very hard to fiscally justify. I eagerly await your comparison to the Wing and I suspect the Wing will be fighting for supremacy!

My trunk liner has the same issue and they need to resolve it. I didn't know about the blinkers so I appreciate that bit of info. Putting taller handlebars on it really helps the ergos for me. I totally agree about the backup gear and back-lit switches, big miss on those two accounts. Certain parking situations are out of the question because there is no way I can muscle it up hill backwards on my own. However the handling is off the charts for me and is one of my favorite features. The power is also abundant, more than I usually need

Great review. You knocked it out of the park. I own a 2012 GoldWing XM, 2016 Indian Scout (wives) and a 2017 Indian Chieftain. All brand new. My GW is used for two up long distance rides and as a parade bike.(Flags and all) I've done two IBA rides on it. My Chieftain has done 3 IBA rides and accentually my Preferred solo long distance bike. I just love my GW and Hondas day planner (that program is now no more) in making routes. So I just use the Indian day planner for both bikes now. And a big plus is Indian has a awesome app that syncs with my 2017 Chieftain (Info Tainment Center) telling me everything from tire pressure in each tire, tracks my ride if I want and to saving and showing my saved waypoint routes that I can choose to download into the bike in minutes. The GW's dependability gives me piece of mind. And after owning the Indian's I've got the same piece of mind with them. I love both brands and there's always room for both. Nothing is going to replace my GW, but I'm sure happy with my Indians
    Thanks for sharing your review.

I just came off of a 2012 Vision. The biggest difference in my opinion is the wind management. The Vision is far superior in my opinion with wind and rain protection. My wife likes the Pursuit better for comfort having fallen asleep a few times. I miss my Vic but the little deer thought that it would look better as a hood ornament.

I own a 2022 Chief (air-cooled). Even on sweltering hot summer days, I can feel the difference in heat creep up my right leg and the frame bars underneath the seat. I test rode a Challenger this summer, during sweltering heat. This test bike was ridden non-stop all day by other test riders. I rode it during stop-n-go traffic on the interstate and I did not notice extra engine/pipe heat anywhere on my body.

I like the Indian for many reasons. I test road a Challenger and liked the power also. The only downside to Indian is the lack of dealers. I live in the Memphis, TN area where the local dealer went out of business. My friends have to drive over 150 miles to the closest dealership if something needs done by a dealership. I do like the fact that the Indian is putting pressure on the rest of the touring market to make better routing motorcycles.

When I bought my 2018 Goldwing to finalize the deal I got all my accessories at 20% off. Being my third Goldwing I decided to really dress up. The labor cost just to install them was $1800 and that was before I decided to add the home link. With your maintenance videos, I was able to install everything except the accessory outlet for my phone. McAllister of Traxxion Dynamics has a video for that. I find it really gratifying doing all the work myself.

Really good, detailed review. I am a Victory guy, currently riding a 2012 Vision Premium Tour. It is the most comfortable, powerful, and best-handling large touring bike I have ever ridden. Victory, which stopped production in 2019, was owned by Polaris, which bought the Indian brand after closing down Victory. A lot, and I do mean a lot, of the tech, engine, suspension, and aerodynamics you find on the late model Indians are actually based on the Victory design. The motor is indestructible, and the comfort features are well thought out. I am now seriously considering the purchase of a 2023 Indian Pursuit, and your review only helps me get closer to making the decision. I am happy to subscribe to your channel. BTW, I was raised in a small town outside of Springfield, Massachusetts, the original home of Indian Motorcycles, so if I make the purchase, it will be a sort of homecoming!

Great review! I bought my 2021 GoldWing Tour DCT and accessorized it to suit me and my significant other. I’ll be 70 in December, so figured this bike would take me to when I decide to hang up my riding boots for good. Your review has me rethinking that. I love the look of the bike and pretty much everything about it. I think it would actually be a better fit for my smallish 5’ 8” frame and probably more comfortable than my Wing. I’m looking forward to your comparison of the two.
The only concern I would have is how substantial is the Indian Dealer network? Honda dealers / service centres are everywhere. We don’t even have an Indian dealer in our city and I don’t know where the nearest one would be. Even the nearest Harley dealer is 3.5 hours away!
Oh… and does it have reverse? Not having that would probably be a deal breaker for me.

It does not have a reverse gear. I am the same height as you and I own both a 2018 Wing Tour and a 2022 Indian Challenger. The Indian allows for a straighter shot to the ground for my legs vs the Wing. Just my experience.

Wonderful review. I was waiting for it. I have to agree with you on the feelings to steer to the Indian. I feel so the same. However, this bike is not cheap, these day. No deals, no insensitive at all. I could not see myself sparing that amount. Second, the lack of reverse and center stand and again dealing with breaking the bike apart for air filter, naaaaaaa! I am staying with my GW. By now, it has everything I need and some good accessories. I have no doubt reverse is coming. For now, I will watch Indian adding more updates and then will see. The bottom line, Honda got me hooked good on the 6th Gen. Safe ride…..!!!

I own a pursuit and it is fantastic and I agree with everything you said, would love reverse. One thing you didn’t mention is character and the Indian really stands out here. I have owned close to twenty bikes in my 40 years of riding and the thing that makes me continue to ride is the freedom and that when I get off the bike does it make me turn around for a second look. The Pursuit does that and the wing never did. Wings are fantastic machine but just don’t have the look for me.

It's comfortable hot looking and powerful. Lower center of gravity, easier to get on/off, even my wife gives it a thumbs up. The air-cooled V Twin can be hot in the summer but I got used to it. Technology beats the Honda. As an owner of both bikes, this is a very fair (true) and unbiased review. The Indian won me over with pizzaz. Cool Aid drinkin Harley guys (some I am close friends with) respect the Indian.

I had a Victory Vision from 2016 to 2020 and absolutely loved it! I only sold because of seat height issues: 2” lower kit caused damaged and it wasn’t as comfortable without it. I traded it for 2020 Indian Roadmaster which is a wonderful bike, but had a very different feel and didn’t inspire the same kind of love. I’ve done a few demo rides on the Pursuit and feel like it’s a spiritual successor to the Vision - I’m picking up my new Pursuit tomorrow!

Very thorough review. But $33K and 900 pounds and does not have reverse or centerstand or hillhold or shift assist is a deal breaker for me, no matter how good the tech and comfort is. Soft clearcoat and other quality issues that you experienced are also concerning for $33K. How about resale value? Your 4.5 overall was a bit high, in my opinion.

As the proud owner of a 2022 Indian Pursuit [Purchased new 18 months ago] I must say that this is an excellent and very accurate review. To any prospective buyers I would say that if you can get beyond the hefty price tag this as good as it gets. As the author stated, it is not perfect but it is close. I like to tell tell people that this bike is a thoroughbred horse dressed up in draft horse clothes. This is a high spirited machine and will not disappoint you in any category .

So, there's locking nuts on the quick release levers for the trunk. If you plan on removing the trunk regularly, you can remove those locking nuts. With those there, maybe 5 minutes to take the saddle bags off and the locking nuts. If you removed them earlier, you can get the trunk off in 30 seconds.

Never owned an Indian however this is the one I would if I were younger...LOL! Matter of fact never owned a BMW either. The Goldwing was my all-time favorite long distance tourer till I got a Victory Vision. My goodness never had an uglier looking bike fit me so well and what a comfortable ride. That electric windshield is so convenient. Enjoyed your review. Now back to my Harley.....ha ha!

Excellent review. Been riding GW's for over 25 years and thinking about an Indian, then ran across your video. I like things simple, and would trade all that tech for a reverse gear and a center stand, on a bike around 900 lbs. Would have liked to here a review on the sound system. As someone who suffers from low back pain, I might want to Frankenstein a rider backrest, like I did as a kid with my Exciter and Virago. A real genius might even devise a detachable passenger backrest that would lock in for the rider. 2024 might be to soon to hope for a reverse gear, but that would be a huge improvement.
By the way, C & E Indian Dealer of Auburn California just quoted me $38,550.97. Which includes $1700 freight charge and $400 Dealer prep. Unless, I want to include accessories.

I owned a victory cross country for 7 yrs and loved it. Us victory owners believed the Challenger was the next bike in line to replace the cross country or the vision. I do agree the Indian should have put reverse on the bike as it would've attracted more potential owners. I ride with 2 ladies now who have Victory Visions and have ruled out the challenger due to the fact of no reverse. No center stand is also a big drawback for me now that i have one on my Wing.
I also don't like where they put the air filter...too easy to break the fuel nipple off...as well as the battery. Again, same setup as the Victory bikes. I hated to do the air filter maintenance on my cross country as it was the same setup. Although my 16 wing air filter is no peach to do either...lol.
My other reason for going to a wing instead of an Indian. About 200 Indian dealers in the US vs 900+ Honda dealers in the US. That is a huge difference if traveling across this great country. Many don't think like that but now more and more dealers aren't working on other mans bikes...Harley for example wont touch another mans bike. My group just encountered this this past week...needed a tire and fortunately we were able find a dealer to replace it for her.

I test road this bike and the Harley Road Glide CVO and found out that they are both comfortable but that’s with little weight and short distance. I was very impressed with the infotainment system on the pursuit than the Harley. I just wished that I had my wife with me so she can tell me what she thinks. I would have to take them on a long distance ride to make the proper assessment. But that ain’t gonna happen.

My favorite is my Roadmaster fantastic bike. I do not care about how fast it is and beleive me it is plenty fast for me. I love the classic fender and overall looks just love the bike so much it has been rock solid and i am impressed with the build quality and the parts are so well made Indian hit it out of the park with the Master. You pay a lot for accessories but they are so well made its like 1950s quality over built. It really feels like the master of the rode riding it and eats highway miles like nothing even my wife loves it and feels safe with the huge passenger seat and wrap around feeling with the optional arm rest and drink holders. When i see another Roadmaster rider we give each other a knowing nod like we are in a inclusive club because we know how good our bikes are better than the Harleys and most people do not have this info and i am glad because it makes me feel like i have something special and am not just another Harley rider which is so common where i live. My bike stands out among the crowd of Harleys especially when i pass them broken down on the highway.

It’s a great bike. It’s done it’s homework against it’s largest competitor. No question. For me however. The luxury of the DCT, stop and go City or the ever construction present highway traffic, the buttery Lexus smooth DCT just rolls along. It’s so slick and quick it just can’t be out- shifted. It’s absolutely spoiled me. At stops, a twist and it’s by-byo! Those Staged V-Twins in my mirror. 😂
Nope, no more repetitive rowing of gears, and the mental effort expended thinking about it either. That’s just for starters. The good thing is, motorcycles are like ice cream. Flavors for everyone. Any day on two wheels is a good day.
