  • Another rider, Antonio, (the guy with the tricked out MSV4S) had an extra GPS mount for my Ducati Multistrada V4S, so he sent it to me for free. I decided to mount a Garmin Zumo XT Motorcycle GPS to my bike and the Iconic Parts model worked perfectly. #iconicparts ‪@iconicparts‬
I was not sent this by Iconic Parts in the UK and have no deals cut with them so you can Google them if you want. They put a video together showing you how to install it but to be honest it was bad. The camera position was not moved, not even once. Hopefully this will be a better how to video for the installation of a GPS mount on the Ducati Multistrada V4S.

Have you considered mounting a GPS to your motorcycle?

I have a tip for removing the shrink wrap from the wiring. Boil some water and dip the shrink wrapped portion into the boiling water. Now you will be able to pull the wrapping off the wiring. It may take a couple of dunks but eventually it comes right off. No worry of damaging wires of possibly injuring yourself.

I think it’s awesome to have the gps in that location. I love mine up there. One note is that Ducati actually sells there own version of the GarminXT unit and it has the “DUCATI” label on the front for all to see. But the real plus is that it comes with the wiring harness and plug to plug into the bike as REMBO described so well. You simply remove the plug REMBO used to make the power connection and plug in the wiring harness. The Ducati version also comes with all the mounting bracket hardware for the bike mount that mounts to the motorcycle bracket REMBO installed.

I’ve been using my Tom Tom rider for a while. I have it mounted central on the bars on my 1260 pikes peak. I prefer it below my dash rather than above like yours. Both work just fine.

Hi Rembo, Thanks for the GPS Mount video. I mounted my Zumo on my V4S Multi using Evotech’s Garmin mount. I have had great luck using Evotech radiator and oil cooler guards on the V4S and on my previous Multi 1200S. Very high quality products and also made in the UK like the Iconic mount you used. The Evotech GPS mount easily attaches to the 4 windscreen mounting bolts. It’s larger than the Iconic mount but it might spread the weight and torsional load of the GPS mount and Garmin over a larger area. You might take a look at the Evotech guards for your bike’s radiators and oil cooler. After 11 years and nearly 50K miles on my 1200S Multi, I finally got a radiator puncture from a rock, just going down the highway. After that, an Evotech radiator guard went on that bike and it was the first mod I made to my new Multi V4S. I’m not going to chance another puncture when I am a few thousand miles from home. BTW, I also mounted a Scottoiler X electronic chain oiler on my V4S. I am hopeful that is going to dramatically lower chain maintenance and extend chain life - making the machine better suited for long-distance touring.

There is a Chinese sourced mounting bracket for the Garmin or other GPS unit that mounts in the same location for Multistradas. I believe it’s reverse engineered. I purchased it for like $27. I had to adjust the fit because it wasn’t perfect but it did adjust and looks great.

I also considered mounting my Zumo XT above theTFT display but found it too intrusive, especially when the screen was in the highest setting.

Just had the Ducati sales rep show me you can link phone GPS up to screen. This answers that. Thanks. Especially as I have. a Garmin XT for my snowmobile now.

Looks pretty cool my friend, I use a similar center bracket from Evotech but I use my phone GPS with my Samsung galaxy note but when I get a phone call my GPS screen is still there Partially and I can get off the phone call screen, I hate to have my phone attached to my handlebar, I barely use the Sygic GPS and hope in the future we can use other applications 👍👍👍👍👍

Its a damn shame that a Bike of that price that claims to offer navigation, requires this but looks great

I bought that iconic parts satnav mount for my V4s...it cost £124. Pricey but fits like a glove. So you got a bargain if you got it given to you..👌

I purchased a Zumo because I want a different device for different functionality and display - single function tends to be better than multi-function, IMHO. I was going to mount mine in the same position, but since I didn't find a mount, yet, the plan was to bolt a piece of bent flat bar to the windshield carrier. Now I'll have to search out the mount, which looks like it was an OEM product. Anything to add regarding the wiring? (Besides separate GPS and console display, I'll keep my phone tucked away, connected to my PacTalk for music and voice calls.) Thanks for this, I really appreciate the "head's up!"

iPhone and google maps. Used it to cross the US a couple times. 2 lanes roads and motel 6 app all day long. use 'avoid highways' option to stay off freeways. If I get a phone call, I just ignore it until I stop. During stops, use the phone/app to plan the next leg. no need for device clutter. we're riding, not commanding the space station. appreciate the discussion though. thumbs up.

Put it on my Multistrada but not even a year old the 4 Screws attached broke off holding the Navi Mount because it’s a cheap 3D printed thing. There are 4 Plastic sleeves they need to be replaced in metal rubber ones absorbing the vibration or just thick small O-Rings (shock absorbing rings) and fixed and secured from each side with washers. Otherwise you will experience through the vibration the crack down of you Navi Mount guaranteed. Hopefully not on a long trip. I strongly recommend to gave at least 4 midsize cable ties at hand because it will happen, to fix the broken Mount temporary. The 3D Plastic polymer isn’t a good compound that was used printing those Mount

Just checked out the price of the mount: US$135!! Looks like I'll be using the flat bar after all!
