Thanks for this Simon, helped me wire in my SaNav. For anyone finding this video, the connector might not be as easy to find as the one in the video. Mine was right in the beak connected to the power connector lead with virtually no slack (it was a V4 Pikes Peak if that matters). Also, I can confirm, as some others have suggested, that you can heat the wire sleeve off with a heat gun.

Interesting: I have a PikesPeak 2023 and the connector for the SatNav power supply was quite as accessible and stowed as in this video. Navigation holder is Iconic Parts, navi is TomTom Rider 550. I will now install a Carpuride W502 unit.

I have a tip for removing the shrink wrap.
Boil some water in the microwave hold the shrink wrapped area in the hot water and you can pull it off, may have to give it a couple of dips. The hotter the water the better.

The glue on the plug lead sleeve is some type of hot glue a little bit of heat and it just slides off.

I just bought the same connector from elec supply ( $2.80) and wired device wires directly into the male part of the connector and clicked it into the female connector on the bike... saves some terrible join that could fail...

Cheers mate. Waiting for a rally to be delivered (1st Ducati) and will be a priority job so this was a great guide assuming they’ve not tinkered with it too much!? Can I just ask if you rate the Evotech mount? Assume a simple few bolts to install? Ta. Kev.

The only suggestion I would say is when you unplug the wire with the wax coating I would probably put a heat gun on it to help remove it. Cutting with the knife was hard work. Definitely get the evotech bracket, very easy installation, and sits nice on the bike. Enjoy the bike. 👍

Getting the Chigee AIO-5 Lite as a carplay unit on my V4 Pikes Peak. I want to wiring it just like you have in the video, but there is a third wire the instructions say to attach to the bike's "ACC". If I'm wiring as you have shown, could I forgo hooking this wire up?

@@thatbikersimonfound it… the yellow wire attaches to the acc fuse in the fusebox underneath the seat. What it does is: ignition off = nav off and vice versa. It avoids that the navi runs the battery down by keeping it turned on accidentally.
Could you check something for me please?
If you turn off your bike, does it switch off the navi too? Or are you able to keep the navi on even when the ignition is switched off??

@@thatbikersimonok thanks Simon. Thing is I use a Chigee with Apple Carplay which is permanently on the bike. What I want to avoid is that if anyone turns it on when it’s parked and Im away (for “fun” 😮), that it will drain my battery.
Just returned from the dealer and they told me that the navi connection wire won’t drain power when the ignition is off. Which would be great.
They also gave me a new connector so I don’t have to do the scary slicing bit 😂
Great service at the Ducati boys as always.

@@MTC-kw7ni The truth? Yes, of course, it vibrates. The TomTom Rider navigation with the appropriate TomTom power mount, mounted on an Evotech (or Iconic, it doesn't matter) mount is quite forward and high on the windshield, this system is quite heavy. Along with the characteristic vibrations of the MTS V4 motorcycle
(the manifestation of a V4 engine - we understand it's not quite the smooth and quiet inline V4 of, say, a Kawasaki Versys 1000), the vibrations carry over here, and the nav display vibrates gently whether you want it to or not. This year I'm taking it off and switching to a SW-Motech handlebar centre mount, or Evotech (TomTom) Handlebar Clamp Sat Nav Mount.
